That's a really cute idea!! The only thing with the Sangria is, I have to buy all of the booze from the club. It has to be served by a bartender.. And we have to pay for him.. Which is $100. That's not even counting liquor.

I'm going to talk to my Grandpa and Uncles when I go visit on Sunday. My mom won't be there, so it's a good time to go hang out with my Family. They'll definitley want booze, so I might talk them into sponsoring an open bar for me. ;) Not that I would drink, but I know that some people are put off by not serving drinks..

My thing is, I'm going to talk to each person in my family, and ask them if they are willing to sponsor something instead of a gift. We really don't need anything.. We've been living together for going on 3 years now.

I think Carlo's Mom is going to pay for the food, I'm going to see if my Grandpa can pay for the drinks, my Uncles to get a few things, and my Dad the rest. We'll pay for the odd items and attendant and parent gifts. I just need the flip flops and gift bags. I've got the rest! :bbmrgreen:

Carlo, on the other hand, hasn't done ANYTHING yet. He hasn't thought about his suit, his shoes, what kind of tie they are all going to be wearing, NOTHING. I'm getting aggitated. I sent him an email with all of the things outlined, a few links to some good ideas, and the groom411.com page..

I'm going to give him two weeks to move on his own. Then I'm going to start doing it for him. Mark my words! :bbmad:

I ordered the lanterns, the fans, and the seals. Yipee!!

I got in the lip glosses and my eye shadow. That eye shadow is the BOMB! Great shimmer, really velvety, and smooth application. Comes in 3 shades, ladies. I HIGHLY reccomend it. VictoriasSecret.com

Here are the invitations that I'm ordering. They're cheap, pretty, and they go with the theme:
https://www.yourinvitationplace.com/app/ensemble/e9616.jpg

Here's the wording:

Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Abrahamsen
and
Mr. and Mrs. Rene Munguia
request the pleasure of your company at
the marriage of their children
Carrie Gail Abrahamsen
and
Carlo Nicolas Munguia
Saturday, the Third of June
Two thousand and six
at Eight O'Clock in the Evening
Northern Hills Country Club
San Antonio, Texas

I've already ordered the seals, and I'm going to pick up the stamps ina couple of weeks when the invitations get here.

I think the invitations are very pretty, Carrie. I love the font color.

CarlosHoney

Thanks! It's hard to see on the proof, but the roses are smudges lavender and the leaves are a little bit green. I selected the Sage color for the text, and the invelopes are lined with purple. I think that they'll look great!

My dad surprised me by ordering napkins with our names and the date. That's so cool! I think that we are going to order toasting flutes with our names and the date on them.. There's a website that I found them on for very inexpensive.

I'm so tired today. I mean really tired. I went to bed really late, and Elias woke up pretty early and refuses to go back to sleep. Urg.

Carrie I ordered mine from Oriental Trading. I got 2 flutes with our names and date and it was only $8.97 for both.

Thanks guys!! I'll check out the flutes, Cindy.

Are you ready? Here we go!

Well, I've been tuning out the stress, denying the exhaustion, and pretending that everything is hunky-****ing-dory. Well, I think tonight I reached my point.

None of my BM's have their dresses ordered. Not one. Out of four. I called all 4 of them today. I didn't get ahold of any of them, reallly. My MOH answered her phone, but she was at work, and said she'd call me back. She didn't. Surprise surprise.

I got ahold of one girl at 11:30, for the first time in like... a month?

The other two.. I can never get ahold of them. Any of them really. I know that they are all busy, but I just feel like they should be at least returning my calls.

We booked the bakery today. They were nice, the cake tasted good, but they are charging us $100 more for the cake than we were quoted at another bakery for the SAME CAKE, and they're charging us for delivery. The other bakery was going to do it for free. So, there's $150 more that we're spending. Joy. :bbneutral:

We still need to pay $1700 on the wedding. This is after I've cut every possible corner. I cut the chamapigne, I moved it later so we'll be serving dessert only. We're doing hydrgena instead of roses in the centerpieces. That's all fine. But my Dad is freaking out about it. He wants me to ask my Mom for it, but he knows as well as I do that she isn't going to pay it. I'm going to talk to my Grandpa, my Uncles, and Carlo's Mom and see where we are with the budget. I'm going to ask for help with the wedding in leu of a gift from my close family. I'm going to see if my uncle will host a couple hours of open bar (or at least beer, wine, and a champaigne toast) seeing as it's an evening wedding.

I feel like a burden on everyone for having this wedding. My dad has to fork over a couple more thousand.. Sigh.

We've put money into it, but it doesn't feel like it's enough. It just feels like no matter what I do, how hard I try, it's not good enough. I wanted to do hors dvores, and no, that's not nessecary (says my Dad). I wanted all roses. No, use carnations. There's no need to provide anything more than a piece of cake and a glass of punch in his eyes. I just want something nice, that's all.. And I'm bending over backwards trying to get it. We're on a really tight budget right now, and I'm doing so much by myself. I'm doing the flowers on my own, some of the food on my own, the jewelry and the cake topper.. The centerpieces.. The music, the favors, and I'm writing my own ceremony too. There's not much else that I can cut.

I'm going to make Blondies myself for the wedding. I got a good recipe from the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and Dessert Book. I'm going to try it out a few times, then make a bunch and freeze them.

Carlo still hasn't done anything as far as getting his shoes, shirt, tie, jacket, pants, socks, attendant gifts, etc. We were at Target and I saw the perfect tie. I pointed it out, and he acted like he didn't even see it.

On the bright side, my invitations are coming in on the 10th. My fans will be here on the 11th. My Seals, my lanterns, and the Baby Bumbo Seat will be coming in soon too. Oh, and those tacky napkins too.

Well, it's 1:29am and I'm beat. I'm going to bed. To dream of something that has nothing to do with the wedding.

Good night. May I wake up in a much more optomistic mood than I am in now.:(

I know you want everything to be nice and that not having the money to do what you want is always a big stress factor ... Believe me, I know :bbconfused: I felt the same planning mine (which was why we ended up having a much smaller wedding ;))

Just try to remember that it is not about the 'wedding' it is about you and Carlos and Elias becoming a family  Remember, don't sweat the small stuff and it is all small stuff compared to the real reason you are doing this. I am sure whatever you end up doing will be wonderful! :D

Best wishes *hugs*

He's so cute!!! Nothing like a baby pic to make ya smile!

By the way, the napkins, while maybe not your style...will be fine, as someone else said - no one will probably notice. I usually look at the napkins at weddings, say "How cute" and forget what they looked like.

Or, you could look at it this way - be glad that his surprise wasn't that the napkins were some off the wall, biazzare color.....

Yeah, he's really adorable. But, you know, think about how much work they are and reconsider. If you want, you can babysit for a bit! Bet that'll cure it.

I'm getting worried, though, b/c he hasn't gone #2 in a couple of days.

My faux wax and seal came in. So pretty!! So pretty!! I'm going to do a few to practice, then I'll try to post a pic.

No... I really want another one. I do love kids. FH tells me I have to wait till I am 30 --- 5 years. My youngest is already 5. I don't want that big of a gap...

Can't wait to see the seal! I always thought those were so cool looking.

Have you started giving him cereal? or more formula? Mine did this too when their diets changed. What I did was give them 4 oz of half water/half white grape juice once a day. Voila....problem solved!

CarlosHoney

Just recently like in November my friend had to put Carro syrup in her babies bottle to get him to go #2 per Doctors orders...he was just a few months old too...FYI

CarlosHoney
04-07-2006, 01:00 AM
Oh, that's not nessecary. He went #2!!! :bbmrgreen: I read that once babies get a little older, that their bodies start utilizing more and more of the nutrients in the milk. So, sometimes it might be a day or two between BM's.

He's growing, healthy, and happy. The only thing I've given him are the gas drops (very sparingly) and saline drops for his stuffy nose. I have an all nataral recipe for them, so I don't feel strange using them. He was so stuffed up that every time he nursed he couldn't breathe! So, I looked in my Baby Book and found the recipe. It's just warm water and sea salt.. And an eye dropper. He didn't like it much, but hey, it got all of the snot out. I did it a few times today, and he can breathe!

Well, I checked and my invitations will be here tomorrow or Saturday. Then I can start on them!! And, My FIL's are coming into town on Saturday. It's going to be fun! They haven't seen the little man since he was a month old.. So, I know they are anxious to see the tubby chubbster. FYI, that's my new nickname for him. The Merry/Tubby Chubster.

Thanks!! I think I might have accomplished the impossible.

I addressed, assembled, numbered, stuffed, and sealed all of our invitations in one day. There were 50 of them.

I'd like to thank my Dad for buying them.. And Elias, for taking the world's longest baby nap so tht I could get them done. I'm waiting on like, 5 addresses, and that's it!! :bbmrgreen:

They look great. And, I learned from Lacey, and practiced making seals until I got them to look right. Only 1 or 2 really don't look perfect.. But oh well! They're DONE!!

I just realised, though, that NONE of the RSVP envelopes have stamps on them. Eeh, not that big of a deal, I guess. Stamps aren't that expensive. I'm sure everyone can get a stamp and send it. If not, then oh well. Not like we're serving dinner.

Elias slept from 5 till almost ten. That was glorious. And, he's asleep again! How can I be so lucky?!

I can't wait. You are correct. I'm freakin' out, man!!

I still need to do a few things. The honey jars came in at my Dad's.. And he's bringing them down so that I can fix 'em up.

Now I need to finalise my flower order, finalise the food selections, find out when my BM's are getting their dresses and shoes...

Figure out what's going on with Carlo and his stuff....:bbmad:

Send off the invitations (I need to do that like, TODAY!) and finish the fans.

I'm still thinking about whether or not I'm doing programs. Do I really need to? :bbconfused: I just don't know if I want to do another thing for the wedding like that.

Oh, and I need to figure out what we're doing for the dishes, glasses, silverware, and tablecloths. My dad swears that we're going to use paper plates and plastic cutlery.. But come on. Do I really want to invite people to get all dressed up to serve them cake on paper?

I'm going to investigate. What will it cost....

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing at all wrong with paper. I'm just going to see what it would cost to rent the dishes.. If I'm going to get paper, I'm going to go to Party City and get the ones that go with my decor. They have the forks too. Might actually be much cheaper and easier.. I'll look into it. ;)

I got my fans in!!! They're not the highest quality, but they'll do. I'm going to get some little bows and glue them on.

I'm going to get Carlo's neice to be Elias's escort. She's going to carry him down the aisle, sit in the first row, bring him up when it's time for our rings, and then carry him back down with the recessional.

Carlo's oldest nephew is going to be an Usher.. and his younger nephew is going to be in charge of passing out fans to everyone.

Yep. A month and a half. Yikes! :bbeek:

I really just want it to be here already. I am going to start on Friday making the Blondies. I'm going to make a preliminary batch (you know, just to make sure that they come out tasty!!) and then make a few batches over the next few weeks and freeze them. We're going to make the mini cheesecakes a few days before the wedding, and we're going to find the truffle prices at different places. Also going to look at chocolate fountains that I can use for the fruit platter, or dip the fruit in dark and white chocolate...

I don't even want to think about it anymore. :bbconfused:

CarlosHoney

One month. One Day. Wowzas. :bbeek:

Okay, so we don't really have much time. But, luckily, Dad is coming to the rescue. Spending a week in Arkansas with him, and I can get more done with the Aid of my Step Mom.

What kinds of fake flowers look the best? And, what kinds of Flowers and I using for the bouquets now?

I realised that the jewelry I made for myself isn't going to match my shoes. So, I'm borrowing jewelry from my FMIL. There's my Borrowed. Oh, and I'm thinking that I might actually want to do a veil, since my dress isn't typical wedding.. I'm kind of regretting it. I thought about it, and when am I ever going to do this again?! So, I'm thinking of a simple, off white, shoulder legnth veil. Maybe. I'm going to go to a bridal shop and try a few on just to see what I think.. Why not, right? I still have sparkles from the cake topper that I could add to the veil myself.

We're going to sit down tomorrow and talk music. I need to start downloading and burning the CD's.. And we've got to narrow down the ceremony music.

I'm going to call my FMIL tomorrow and finalise the food plans. Call my Dad and go over everything that we need to get done..

Changed things up with the BM dresses. My MOH's are wearing eggplant and the other is wearing pea green. The other 2 BM's are wearing lavender. Whatever dress that hey want.

I have a lot to do, but it's cool. I also have been so indecisive about the menu that I think i finally have it..

Hummus, Bread, Salad, Mini Cheesecakes, Brie, Blondies, and Wedding Cake. Maybe Quiche if my MOH's boyfriend wants to make them, seeing as he's a Graduiated Chef. Other than that.. Everything looks good. ;)

I want a dress that is kind of like the Monique Lhullier I wanted. I want a dress that is ver Jackie-O. Definitley an A-Line.. Maybe a cute black skirt and a pretty sparkly top. I think I'll wear my purple pearls at the rehersal since they don't match my shoes.

Also thinking about using pink/gold in my bouquet. Lavender just isn't going to match. What kinds of flowers?! Maybe I can get some of those pretty two-tone roses, some pink hydragena, some white sweet peas, and a few of those cymbidium orchids that we're using for the bouts.

I had so much trouble picking out a shower outfit, I'm not gonna bother with a rehearsal outfit. I was thinking of making a t-shirt that said "Bride" or had the "Bride Pride" logo on it, but the wedding is really close so I don't see that happening. I'm going with jeans, t-shirt, and a hat and matching flip flops my mother bought specifically for the rehearsal for me.

I love the Jackie-O idea though! Her style was classic! I bet you'll just look beautiful! Wow! Not to long for you now! It's right around the corner for you!

By the way, maybe, if you're worried about price, you could try a couple veils on, see which one you like, and then make one! They're so easy to make from what I hear and I'm kicking myself for spending so much on my veil because of that!

Good luck and I can't WAIT to see pictures!

CarlosHoney

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I'm going to diy the veil for sure, that is, if I even like them..

With much anticipation and fanfare, here is the OFFICIAL Music List!!

Music that will play before the ceremony while everyone is getting there:
-Ave Maria (Schubert)
-Cannon in D (Pachabel)
-Romance (Mozart)
-Adeinte (Mozart)
-Jesu (Bach)

Prelude:
-Air (Bach) - Our Grandmothers and Mothers will be seated

Processional:
-Flim (Aphex Twin) - Bridal Party - I think this is going to take everyone by surprise!
-Untitled (Aphex Twin) - ME! Very pretty ambient song.

Ceremony:
- Prelude in C (Bach) - This will play very softly during the ceremony

Recessional:
-Mother Nature's Son (The Beatles)

Our First Dance:
-Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder) by The Beach Boys
Carlo came up with this idea. Its a very sweet, pretty song. It makes me cry anytime I hear it, so I know the dance will be emotional for sure. Plus, it's more of a come close and dance slowly song (we're not good dancers) and it's short.

Daddy Daughter Dance:
-Love Without End, Amen by George Straight
The first concert I ever went to was George Straight. My Dad loves country, so I figured that I'd surprise him with this. It will be the only country song we play all night, so I figured that I'd concede here.

Mother Son Dance:
?????????????????????????????????
Carlo isn't sure that he wants to do this, but I told him that it would mean so much to her to do it. So, he's thinking about it, and I'll add it in later.

Cut The Cake:
My Best Friend by QUEEN!!
Had to have Queen in here somewhere! I love love love Queen.

Last Dance:
By Your Side by Sade
This is such a beautiful song, and it was a contendor for the first dance, but I figured that since it's a little longer, it'll be a nice winding down thing.

In other wedding related news, my Grandpa is going to pay for the Linnen rental (maybe the arch too!).. It's awesome! I was worried about this expense, and wasn't sure if we could swing the extra $150.. So, I'm going to call the retal place tomorrow and ask them for an exact ammount, their address, and he's going to send a check on Monday.

So, that's a relief. When I go to visit my Dad I've got a hair appointment. I'm getting a color, highlight, and trim. VERY LIGHT TRIM. I need all the legnth that I can get. I'm going to investigate further into some extensions just because I really love this style that I found, and want to do my hair like this. If I can't get them, I found something else that I could do.. But I really want that.

I'm borrowing Carlo's Mom's Pearls, I need something old.. And something Blue. My dress and shoes are new. I don't have closed shoes, so the sixpence thing isn't going to work. :p

I found some white gold baby rings for a good price, so I'm going to order one for Elias, and he's going to get a gold band at the ceremony to hold onto later in life. So, all three of us will have a ring.
