Hi! Im Cindy and the love of my life is Brian.
This is us on my Oct. 1st (my birthday) before we went to what I thought was a birthday party that turned out to be our engagement party. He had planned it with his mom and sister to make our engagement "official" on my birthday. Not sure I like knowing he can be that sneaky!
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/newus.jpg
We actually met online by accident, we really liked taking to each other so we decided to meet. The chemistry was SOO strong. I had never in my life connected with someone this good. About 3 weeks after we started dating, his daughter was showing me her dad's school year books. I saw my older half-brothers in there. The youngest of the 2 was in almost all of Brian's classes. When Brian got home for lunch, I asked him about my brother. THEY WERE CHILDHOOD BEST FRIENDS!!!!!!! They had lost contact when my brother moved to East Texas to live with our dad and my mom. Well they have since reconnected and I was thrilled. I know hes a good guy if I have "big bubba's" approval!
He had proposed to me in August, but it wasnt official until my birthday when I got my ring. Him and his mother hid it in my piece of birthday cake under a strawberry. I didnt even see the ring when I started eating the strawberry. My daughter had to point it out to me.
We had originally wanted a moonlight wedding, even chose our wedding date because of the full moon, but we realized it would be difficult for a lot of people to be there because of the time. So we decided on a sunset ceremony and a moonlight reception!

I posted this earlier on another thread. I moved it here so that I can add to it as I know I will in the next 5 months.
These are my plans so far:
Ceremony will be on May 13, 2006 at 8pm at Van City Lake in Van, Texas.
This is the spot we have picked out for the ceremony. I love it!
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/VanLakepic.jpghttp://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/VanLakepic2.jpg
As you can see Mother Nature will take care of most of the deorations here. If its still this pretty in December, just think of how gorgeous it will be in May!

For the ceremony, I want a paper bag lantern (luminaries) walkway leading up to a lighted arch. I need to get with MoH on the best way to decorate the arch. I don’t think I need anything else for here. I have found the ones we love with little hearts all in them, 25 of them for $14.00. Brian says we can order them. I already have the tea lights that go in them.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/luminaries.jpg
Officiant is booked. I have already got the vows taken care of. Brian was worried about having to remember something long, but with what I have come up with he wont.

Bouquets will be hand tied white roses. I can get fresh white roses in Tyler from the Rose Garden for about $3 a dozen in May. I have several people that have worked with flowers professionally that have offered to do them.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/Handtiedbouquet.jpghttp://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/whiteroseslg.jpg
Dresses will be made, Attendants in turquoise, mine in white or opal. I have found a pattern that I love, but its not final yet. We will start on dresses in January. Men……who knows what they are wearing. I guess as long as its not embarrassing it shouldn’t matter too much. Although Brian had said he would wear khaki pants and a white shirt. (He probably wont be wearing a turquoise tie.) I don’t have a clue what the best man will be wearing.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/pattern3.jpg
Shoes will look similiar to this only mine have rhinestones across the foot.

Reception will be at our house in Grand Saline, Texas.
This isnt our house, but it looks just like it
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/eva20night20wedding.jpg
For the reception, I want the yard and shop decorated with white Xmas lights. (I have pics of how I would like to do this.) Not sure yet if I will do anything with balloons and/or streamers, but that is still open for discussion.

This is how I want to decorate the little building where we will be doing the dancing and eating.

For the tables, I had thought of using opal tablecloths and having turquoise confetti down the middle with white candles and turquoise tableware, but I think I would like to go with turquoise tablecloths, with opal heart confetti and white rose petals down the middle with the candles and have clear tableware because I doubt I can find the stuff in opal (for a resonable price). With the candles, do I still need centerpieces? If so, what would tie in? I have found some really cute long stem white rose candles but what kind of holders would we put these in?

We still need to work out the guest list so that I know how many tables and chair I need to rent. So far I’m thinking maybe 6 tables and 10 chairs each for 4 of the tables.

We will just have finger foods, cake and drinks. Menu is still open for discussion. We will serve wine, beer, soft drinks, and a couple of different punches. Champagne for toasting.
These are the cake designs that I like but I will only have white roses and maybe some pearls on it.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/cake2.jpghttp://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/cake1.jpg
Music is still being decided on for the dancing. Brian has the sound system. I plan to burn any songs we don’t already have. We are still in the process of making the song list. I will be trying to locate a couple of decent R&B songs.
Photographer is MoH's sister. I have a checklist of what pics we would like. We will also be having the little disposables on the tables so that there will be candid shots taken by random guests as well.
With the wedding so small, we don’t have to have a receiving line, right? If we do, how would we go about this?

Favors are still out in the open too. I have votive candles I can wrap in the turquoise tulle and tie with an opal ribbon. Thought about printing labels for them with our names and wedding date on them , but the ink takes forever to dry and the color bleeds too bad. I also have favor bags I can fill with something and can put turquoise tissue paper in them for color. I have samples of both.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/myfavors.jpg
There will not be any bouquet or garter tosses, and since we are not leaving the house that night we will not be doing the rice, birdseed or bubble thing either.

Honeymoon is planned for the Busy B Ranch B & B in Jefferson, Texas. We have sent an email and have left a message about what we need to do to set reservations, but as of yet we haven’t heard back from them. I will wait until after the first and if I still haven’t heard back from them, I will call back.

Im going to be making my own invitations and I got inspiration from this design:
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/invite2.jpg
Only Im going to get turquoise card stock paper for the back, get some pretty white paper to print the info on in turquoise ink and cut it so it has a scalloped edge, and tie it all together with an opal ribbon.
Similar to this:

We have run up on problems with our attendants. So far the only ones we know for sure we will have are the kids! His friend (the guy we bought the house from) still talks to him if he sees him, but from the way Brian talks he has gotten VERY standoffish.
I really want to scale this thing back to immediate family, but I seriously doubt thats going to happen. I have gotten to shave a few people off the guest list and that helps, but its still more than I originally wanted.
I have just over 4 months to get this thing in motion......good thing I have my plans already. Now I just have to make them happen!

Im not sure if anyone still reads through these journals, but I need to vent a little. While I DO want to marry Brian and spend the rest of my life with him, I cant really seem to get in gear and work on this wedding. I have all my plans laid out, I just havent tried to make them happen. I dont know if its because Im still so exhausted from the holidays and moving, but know I need to get moving here.
I AM kinda frustrated with Brian because of his dogs. I wanted to have our reception at our home, in the front yard. He has dogs that have to be behind a fence and since theres not one in the back yet, they are in the front. THEY HAVE COMPLETELY TORN UP THE YARD!!!!!! He says when things get situated hes going to fence in the backyard and thats where they are going to go. I know he will build the fence, but for some reason I want to find an alternative reception spot. I dont want to have the reception at the house anymore. Im being stupid, I know. I havent talked to Brian about this either and I know I should. He doesnt know its bothering me this much.
Maybe Im just having "wedding overload" or something. I dont have any friends around here yet and my best friend thats an hour away wont return my phone calls. I dont really have anyone to talk to about the wedding (or anything else "girlie" for that matter). I try not to burden Brian with any of it, but here lately I dont really even want to talk about the wedding at all except maybe in here.
Im just hoping this will pass soon. I wonder if anyone else felt like this.

I talked to Brian about some of this at lunch today. I feel a lot better. There are supposed to be acouple of different people helping me and both of them are acting like I dont exist. (And they do not even know eachother....go figure!)
Well Ive been thinking about what we talked about, and somehow, Im going to get in touch with both and point blank ask them if they intend to help and if so just exactly what are they planning to help with. If not, thats fine, I just need to know so that I can find someone that does want to help me. For some reason that takes a load off my shoulders.

How many people are you inviting? It's never a bad idea to find an alternative spot.
I do read the journals but until now I always found it hard to make a comment. So now look out girl!!
I don't have anyone other than all of you to help me either. The people in our bridal party may help on the day to set up but everything else I am on my own with. I feel the same way you do all the time.......I think it is called being overwhelmed! At least that is what I think is happening to me. It is overwhelming, there is just so much to do and think of and not forget. So don't ever feel alone. I have a feeling we all feel this way sometimes. I talk about my wedding mainly to my MOH, Mom and FMIL but I always feel like I am rambling and they never really offer any help. So I come here because you girls are awesome! Like long lost sisters!
Girl you have an awesome wedding planned. I know you can all pull it off and as you know you can always turn to us, we will help you!!

We have decided to use the kids as our ONLY attendents. And to protect against hurt feelings, we areny having a BM or MoH. I will have 2 bridemaids and he will have 2 groomsmen, and that leaves a cute little 5 year old boy to play ring bearer!
Instead on a ring pillow, I think Im going to use a ring holder, something similar to this:

Ok, Im changing this a little. Im not going to have the rose petals on the tables. Im going to simply have the opalescent heart confetti and candles. I think the candlelight with shine off the confetti better that way. I found some tiny little heart confetti at a party supply store that I fell in love with!
I cant wait till this weekend! Im going wedding shopping!!!!!!

Cindy I love those ideas for centerpieces. If you don't mind, I'm thinking of using one for an idea for mine. I love the lone with the rose petals and the plain candles. I thought I could do that with the fake leaves. Then give the candles as favors. IF you don't mind me borrowing the idea!

I think that will look great Cindy. The confetti and candle light should play off of each other well. Have you thought about tossing just some plain white rose petals in there to add some texture?

Not at all, If Im not mistaken I think I borrowed the pic from Carrie. I had seen the idea before but couldnt find a pic anywhere.

That was my original plan. Im thinking about it, but I wanted to make a sample to see if i would like it first.

I did some wedding shopping online yesterday! I was able to find some relly goo deals too.
This is what I ordered:
2 personalized champagne glasses
personalized ribbon for favors
little iridescent roses to make bows out of the ribbon mentioned above
the luminaries I have on the 1st page of my journal
The little favor cards with the bells (I copied this from some ladies in here, couldnt help it....I found 50 of them for $3.95)
Im starting to get really excited! Hopefully I can keep this feeling and it doesnt wear off!

We do use him a lot, dont we?
You know, after I had my "mini-meltdown" last week and made the mistake of telling a few people, Ive got people coming out of the woodwork offering to help. Im meeting a friend of minein Tyler (a pretty good sized town about 45 minutes away) to look over my notes and to do some shopping. I want to go ahead and pick up some of the "little" things. I want to try and find a ring holder like the one in the pic for Lance to carry, because that one is out of stock. It shouldnt be hard at all though.

I posted this in another thread, THEN it dawned on me to post this here....DUH!!!
These are our vows:
Cynthia and Brian's Wedding Ceremony
Opening Words:
We are gathered today to celebrate one of the happiest moments in the lives of Brian and Cynthia, for on this day they will affirm before witnesses of earth and heaven that they believe God has purposed that they should share life in the holy bonds of marriage.
Marriage is not only a commitment between lovers; it is also an agreement between two friends. Allow each other time to be an individual, respect each other's wishes as well as their dreams.
Consent:
Brian, do you take Cynthia as your wife? Will you be faithful to her in tender love and honor, offering encouragement and companionship? Do you promise not to forsake her or these vows you have made, but strive to show her your love everyday for the rest of your lives?
Cynthia, do you take Brian as your husband? Will you be faithful to him in tender love and honor, offering encouragement and companionship? Do you promise not to forsake him or these vows you have made, but strive to show him your love everyday for the rest of your lives?
Vows:
I, Brian, take you Cynthia to be my wife to love and to cherish from this day forward.
I, Cynthia, take you Brian to be my husband to love and to cherish from this day forward.
Ring Exchange:
(Both) With this ring I promise to love you totally, completely and unconditionally for the rest of my life.
Prayer:
Father, we thank you for this beautiful day and thank you for Brian and Cynthia. We thank you Lord you have brought them safely thus far on their journey. We pray that as you joined their hand and hearts together to become husband and wife that you will bless them. Pray that you will give them strength and courage as they face all the tasks and decisions that lie before them. We also pray Lord that you bless these rings that he and she wear and may they ever bide in your peace living together in unity, love, and happiness with good purpose to do your will. This we pray in your name. Amen.
Closing:
These two lives are now joined in one unbroken circle. Wherever they go, may they always return to one another in their togetherness. May these two find in each other, the love for which all men and women long. May they grow in understanding and in compassion. May the home that they establish be such a place of sanctuary that man will find there a friend. And may these two rings symbolize the spirit of undying love in the hearts of both of them. I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.

Your wedding sounds absolutely beautiful!
I have to thank you....your invitation just gave me an idea for the beginning wording of my own. I have a beautiful verse about snowflakes and God's children...no two are alike (it's worded better than that....) and I've been working on something to tie it into invitations and yours gave me an idea!!!!
I'll post the wording on my journal as soon as I get it done to get some opinions!

An idea I toyed with for my bouquet was to spell Brian's name with my flowers.
The bouquet I have already has
B - Baby's breath
R - Roses (white)
I - Ivy
A -
N -
Now, what (and where) could I find for the last 2 letters? I would like to keep the flowers white if at all possible.

I don't know because I don't know much about silk flowers. I would just ask someone there. Maybe even call ahead or look at their website to save you a trip.

Nasturtiums (?) are a pretty common flower I think (I wouldn't know the name if it wasn't common). Maybe you could find silk one's of those. I like the spelling out idea...that's sweet.

An idea I toyed with for my bouquet was to spell Brian's name with my flowers.
The bouquet I have already has
B - Baby's breath
R - Roses (white)
I - Ivy
A -
N -
Now, what (and where) could I find for the last 2 letters? I would like to keep the flowers white if at all possible.
How about asters? I am sure you could find these in silk:

And Nosegays. I am not sure about getting these in silk though:

Check out this site. It lists flowers in alphabetical order and gives there meanings:

Honeymoon is planned for the Busy B Ranch B & B in Jefferson, Texas. We have sent an email and have left a message about what we need to do to set reservations, but as of yet we haven’t heard back from them. I will wait until after the first and if I still haven’t heard back from them, I will call back.

I finally got to tlak to someone last night about reserving a cabin for our honeymoon. They still have a couple of cabins open for when we want them. Brian and I are sitting down tonight and deciding for sure how long we are going to take for the honeymoon and I will call her back and finalize.

I talked to Brian about doing the "Sand Unity Ceremony" because I want the kids to be apart of something. He said it sounded difficult, but Ive printed off some info to show him that its not. I even know how I want to do it!
Brian and I will have turquoise and white sand, which half will go in first, the girls will have pink and will pour theirs together 2nd, my youngest will have yellow and hes 3rd, the oldest boys will have blue and will pour theirs 4th. Brian and I will finish and "seal the deal" with the rest of the turquoise and white. I think this will make a very pretty keepsake. And :bbidea: I just had an idea! I want to make small bottles up for our parents, but since his daughter lives in Virginia, I think I will make one up for her too!!!!!

I want the colors: teal, white, pink, yellow, and do you think purple would look better than blue?

How about Alstromeria flower ... it is a popular filler flower and they come in lots of different colors
http://www.fotosearch.com/comp/MDG/MDG182/122020.jpg
Now in my experience, 'Nosegay' refers to the round shape bouquet, it is not an actual flower. I don't know of may flowers that start with N ...
'Nightshade' is one
http://www.wingwatchers.com/images2/rp-nightshade.jpg
But this is a wild flower and some of the species are actually poisonous.
'Nettle' is another

Again, a wild flower and may be hard to find. There is a Nettle green leafy plant that is said the mean 'Lust' *hehe*

The reason I asked about the purple was because I didnt want the turquoise/teal and the blue looking too similiar in color. When we go pick out the sand, I want to lay all the colors out next to each other and see what they look like. Thats probably the best way to make a decision, huh?
Im probably not going to get to do the name thing with the bouquet. I really wanted to but Im not sure if i can find the flowers I need in the colors I need.

Well you gotta do what is easiest on you. It was a nice idea though :D You could still go with flowers that have a meaning, to express your feelings for your FH.
Here are some ideas ...
- Carnation - Fascination
- Tulip - Declaration of love
- Daisy - Love & affection
- Rose - Love
- Calla Lilly - Refined Beauty
- Lilly of the valley - Happiness
- Orchid - Love & Beauty
- Stephanotis - Happy Marriage
- Daffodil - Unrequited Love (so don't use those ;))
- Lilac - Earliest Love
- Aster - Symbol of love
- Ivy - Wedded bliss
- Pink Clove - True love
- Peony - Happy Marriage
- Honeysuckle - Bonds of love
- Myrtle - Love
- Orange Blossom - Eternal Love

On the favors i also want to make up just one of the bows and hot glue it on the votive and see what it looks like with no tulle. I think that will be pretty also. (BTW - If I can do them that way, they can double as decorations on the tables, i just wont light them, and towards the end, I will let people know they can take the ones on the tables too.;) ) This was my FMiLs idea!

I love the new dress. You could easily find a pattern similiar to that if you looked. I don't know much about sewing but it looks pretty basic. THe votives look nice too. I love the blue and opal colors together. Isn't that printed ribbon a pain in butt to work with. I thought I would have a nervous breakdown at some points before I could get done.
It won't be much longer for you know, will it?

Yes Lacey......The ribbon is a major hassle, but sooo pretty. I made up a bunch of bows last night and kept pricking my finger with the wire. The only thing I dont like about it is that you have to either add a tie piece to it or glue it straight to whatever you want to put it on.
I made up a centerpiece last night and then used a piece of turquoise tissue paper to make a "sample" of what the tables are going to look like. It turned out soooo much prettier than I was expecting it too. Ive still got to take a pic and post it, but Im proud of myself!!!

Ok.....yall tell me if Im being anal. (Brian says I am). I want to change the reception site. I dont want to have it at the house for several reasons.
1. If Im at my home, there is NO WAY I am going to be able to relax and enjoy myself. I will be constantly picking stuff up and making sure the house stays clean, bathrooms have TP, etc. I just know me.
2. There is so much work we need to do to have it ready. We need to do the fence in the backyard to get the dogs out of the front, we wanted to put new carpet in the living room, there is a smell in the office i cant get rid of (Brian cant smell it), etc.
3. I just decided I really didnt want to do it there. Brian wants to have our "Jack & Jill" party there, and I would have to get it ready for that, clean it up after AND then do that again for the reception? I DONT THINK SO!!!!!
I have checked into the Community Center here in town and it is only $30 more to rent it than it is to rent the tables and chairs. I also want to check into a few other things, but I just really started dreading having to mess with all the stuff at the house.
CarlosHoney
02-07-2006, 10:27 AM
To me, it sounds like you would be being anal if you DID have it at the house!
I think that you should have it at the community center if that is what will make you happy. He should understand where you're coming from...I certainly do!
It sounds like it is going to be easier on you, and he won't like dealing with a stressed out bride. You're going to have enough on your plate as it is, you know. I hope he can come around.
Plus, you never know what will happen with that many people in your house. I know that things get broken, things get stolen, and if you want to go to bed, and it's at your house, you can't until everyone is gone. If it's at the community center, you can duck out and go enjoy your wedding night in a clean, peaceful home... Not worry about the huge mess that you have to clean up before going to bed.. I know that if you don't, the trash will be blown all ofer the place.

Thanks Carrie. He is just being a butthead, but I just found out why. Somewhere in the back of his head, he thinks Im trying to back out. HELLO???? I just spend over $100 this weekend trying to get the last few things I need for the tables and some more flowers. I havent even figured up what Ive spent from before. If I was wanting to back out I would NOT be spending money on wedding stuff!!!!!! I told him that too and he said "OH....I didnt look at it that way." On a different note.......we talked about the Community Center and I think we are going to go with it. I want to go look at it and will try to do that in the morning. We can pay by the hour or a set price for 8 hours. I want to see how long I think it might take to set up and if theres a place to keep everything. Ok.....I went and looked at the community center this morning and DID NOT like it. It reminded me too much of a high school lunch room. It would take a lot of decorations to make this place look like a reception. So.......I need to rethink this. Im going to make a few calls.
Brian and his mom want to do it at the house. It would save us a lot of money that way, but there is SO much that needs to be done first. I would have to nag Brian to get some of it done and i dont really want to do that. Im going to sit down with him AGAIN tonight and we have to discuss this. We will make a list of everything that needs to be done before the wedding.
ikkin510
02-08-2006, 11:14 AM
I understand where you are coming from not wanting to have it at the house. I would go completely insane trying to make the house perfect before hand. And then, like you, I would be contantly straightening up the entire day. That's not how you want to spend your wedding day! And if you need to work on a fence and replace the carpeting stuff like that, that will end up costing some money too. Unless you have connections when it comes to laying carpeting, that could add up, buying it then installing it. I would think you could relax more and the cost wouldn't be a huge differance having it somewhere else
CindySue
02-08-2006, 11:21 AM
I talke dto Brian about it and we are going to discuss it tonight. We are going to have a list of all our options and discuss the pros and cons for each. We will make a list of what needs to be done at the house and see which comes out better.
CarlosHoney

Maybe what you could do, is have some good friends watch the kids at the house while you guys get a room that night. So, when you want to go, you can. And the person at the house can make sure that all is well..
Maybe you know someone who you could pay to clean up after (or would be willing to do it as your wedding present) and tidy up during the event.
That way, you might spend $200 on the room (at most) and another $100 on getting the place clean (unless they do it for free). That way, you won't spend much more than you would with a reception hall..
But, I do know that I would rather have my reception somewhere else.. That's just me. Maybe that could be a comprimise, though.

Aww, try no to pull your hair out over it. I can see why you wouldn't want to do it at your house but maybe it will work out ok for you. Just think of the money it will save you, maybe you can get something else you were going to have to cut out ;) :goodluck: hun
Thanks....I guess what I need to do is make sure that there IS a cleaning crew available. Maybe is there IS a plan made, I wont be quite so anal about stuff.
I can see it now.....as it is now, every night I can NOT go to bed without cleaning my kitchen and picking up the house.....its my wedding night and IM CLEANING!!!!:bbeek: Brian will LOVE that......

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be cleaning up on my wedding night. Have you talked to Brian about this aspect of it? Maybe you can get some friends and family to be the 'cleaning crew' maybe as a gift. (I think someone else mentioned this before)
We had our ceremony at our house then we went out to eat after. We had less than 10 people there, but we did have to move furniture around and such. But people helped and it wasn't too bad.
Good Luck

Cindy, my advice if it is worth anything. Give into Brian about where to have the reception but hold him to it. Even if that means he is up for a week straight getting everything done. Check with some local cleaning services in your area. See what it would cost to have them come in and do a top to bottom scrub down the day before the wedding and a quick clean up the day after the wedding. That is what my mom used to do when she had parties at the house.

Well we had orginally wanted to hold the reception in the little building (shop) right beside the house. But Brian has put all his tools in there and set it up so nice, I dont have the heart to tell him to move it for the reception. So......I guess we will hold it in our front yard.
I guess I need to discuss it with him, though. It may not bother him at all.
Good grief.....all these "discussions" we have to keep having about the wedding may make him change his mind!!!

I can see that. Look into the cleaning crew for sure, and assign someone for every room of the house in case you do have it inside. If you don't, good for you! Just have signs pointing the way to the Restroom.

I think that's just normal paranoia. I feel like that too, but if there is anything that you're missing, you'll think of it.
I don't think that you would plan the whole reception and leave off something big.. Like, there's a full meal but not silverware and plates.. Or you forgot to buy enough candles and one talbe just doens't have any.
It's all good. It's all coming together.

Well with the new idea Im going with for the centerpieces, there will be enough candles. i bought ivy bowls:
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Cindysue3132/ResizeImage.jpg
I have put turquoise rocks in the bottom, filled it half way with water, put a white floating candle in it and tied a turquoise and opal ribbons around the top. There will be 4 tables and 2 of these on each table. I also made up some of the votive for favors with out the tulle, and those will be placed on the tables in between the ivy bowls. Im not going to light them, and at the end of the evening let everyone know that those are favors too.
I wish i could figure out why the camera wont connect to the computer because i want to post a pic of the "sample" table sooooo bad. It looks really pretty!!!
CarlosHoney
02-10-2006, 03:27 PM
My camera won't upload if the battery is low. It won't even say low battery, and it will continue to take pictures, but it just won't load anything. Could it be that?
CindySue
02-10-2006, 03:30 PM
No....if the batteries are low on ours, it wont even come on....just beeps. Usually when you plug it in, it uploads automatically, but when i tried to go in the program and manually upload them, it told me there wasnt a device hooked up to the computer.

Maybe a gift certificate to a nice restaurant? I guess it depends on how much you want to spend on a gift. I am sure he will appreciate whatever you do.
I gave my photographer (he was a friend of mine) a card and took him out to eat after the honeymoon. He really didn't do a whole lot though, I paid him to be there (like $50 for an hour) and I paid for the film and processing. He even used my camera and I set it all up for him. I shouldn't have done anything ;)

Ok.....Since we are keeping this VERY simple and laid back, my FMiL suggested we check into Subways 6ft. party subs. Well I called today and they are $9.99 a foot and would only need about 6ft. to feed 30 or 40 people. We are also having different dips: a crab dip, spinach dip, a cheese ball, french onion dip and ranch dip - plus a whole variety of chips.
I will probably go ahead and have some fruit for people that will not be wanting cake.
We will have a few other little appetizers (meatballs, sausage, etc.) too, and I think this will be plenty!!

Cindy that sounds good. I love a Subway Veggie delight (hold the cheese). Check your local grocery stores. I know you can get a lot from them in the prepared food sections. All you have to do is work out a pick up time and slide everything in the oven to reheat.

Im also thinking about having the little cards at the reception for people to give us "advice". 75% of the people that are going to be there have been married 15 + years. We think it would be neat to read what they say id the key to a happy marriage!

I love the wedding advice idea!
I did something similar for my sister's bridal shower - she had an autumn themed wedding. I put the other bridesmaid in charge of finding a branch and cementing it into a coffee can and decorating the bottom so it didn't look like a "branch in a coffee can". I bought leaf shaped paper and hung them from the tree and asked all of the guests to contribute their best marriage advice to the "Wish Tree". It looked so cute and it was so sweet to read those after the shower.
To think...I could have published that idea in a magazine! I made that up myself :)
CindySue
03-08-2006, 10:34 AM
I actually like that idea Jenn and so did Brian so it definitely an option....
The cards I was talking about had "Advice for a happy marriage" at the top. There were just small little cards.....about the size of a reception card maybe and you put them in a box or basket.
CarlosHoney
03-08-2006, 11:30 AM
Well, if you did that, Cindy, it might give you something to do! Get a hole punch (maybe a heart shaped one?) and some ribbon, and go to town. You could even glue teal paper to the back to tie that in.. Maybe make it look like the branch is from a tree with opal colored flowers?

Well, if you did that, Cindy, it might give you something to do! Get a hole punch (maybe a heart shaped one?) and some ribbon, and go to town. You could even glue teal paper to the back to tie that in.. Maybe make it look like the branch is from a tree with opal colored flowers?
Oh, my wheels are turning thats for sure!!!!

I'm in the same boat. Until we get the income tax, and my dad brings down more wedding stuff, I'm stuck with NOTHING to do. I'm sitting here and thinking about what I'm going to do with the rest of the sparkles, and what kinds of flowers we are going to have, and I'm looking at household objects thinking "Hmmm.... could I use this in the decor somehow?" :buck:
I'm a nut. I just have to be doing something with the wedding. What am I going to do when it's over??! :bbeek:

Hey.. I know you live in a smaller community. Do you guys have a local wedding coordinator? If not, you might be able to try it out! I'm sure you can do the first few weddings for really cheap and try to get some experience.. And since you're good at doing it on a budget, hey, you can really help with making it under budget. :bbmrgreen:

Ok....my best friend thats going to officiate our wedding came up and spent the weekend with us so we could finalize what we (actually I sould say I) want for our cermony. With the help of Audrey (Thanks sooo much).....we have everthing lined up. We even did a little "pre-marital" counseling.
We thought that we would have to have him registered in the state, but we dont. All he needs is proof that hes an ordained minister....which we have.
I dont know why.....but that one little issue resolved was like a huge weight lifted off me!

Brians daughter will not be coming in for the wedding. Thats a bummer, but we will get though it.
We are still going to do the sand ceremony with just me and Brian, although, Im still trying to decide what colors of sand we will each have, but considering Ive bought enough colors for us and 5 kids, I shouldnt have to buy anymore.
This is the sand ceremony that we will be using:
Officiant:
Brian and Cynthia, you have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings. This covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives. The most beautiful example of this partnership is the marriage relationship. You have committed here today to share the rest of your lives with each other. Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one, representing you, Cynthia, and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, Brian, and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers of sand are combined, the individual vases of sand will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be a molding of two individual personalities, bonded together forming one heart, one love.
Couple pours sand in to one container
When I read this, I got goosebumps and my eyes welled up.....this is just SOOOOO perfect. Brian read it and all he could do was give me a sappy grin which I have learned means it touched him too.

Yeah, we were too, but apparently she made up her mind. I had even offered to psotpone the wedding until she came down for this summer, but he (and everybody else) said no. Now we arent sure if shes even coming then, so I guess its a good think we didnt put it off!

Sorry to say it but Brian did the right thing. She already has that teenage attitude the the world revolves around here. By moving something as big as your wedding to accomidate her schedule you are reinforcing that. Your best bet is to tell her that you and Brian are getting married on May 13. You would really like her to be there. It would mean a lot to her dad for her to be there. You do understand she has a softball tournament. It is totally up to her on what she decides to do. You and Brian won't be mad or upset if she deicded to go to her tournament.
Which, I am sure all of that was said. Frankly as someone who works in a high school coaches are too strict and too tough on the kids. They get them to believe that their sport is life. At least it is like that where I work. I fight with them all the time about it. Especially when it comes time for wrestling and the boy sare starving themselves to make weight.

I just know that it bothers him, but hes always catered to her before and had started cutting back on that about a year before we met. He said if she wants to be here bad enough.....she will be.

Aw, Cindy, Sorry about Brian's Daughter. I know that it's all important now, but I think that she'll regret it later on. Sad, but, it's what she wants right now. Oh well....
Everything is looking good. A couple more months and you'll be Mrs. Brian!!
You could always use the other colors of sand in the centerpieces. That might look nice under the rocks. If not, maybe you could use it to line the aisle that you're going to walk down? I'm trying to think of something, you know, since you already bought it.

I got the sand from Michaels. I have 2 big bags of the colors me and Brian were going to use and then a little box that has six smaller bags of different colors. The sand wasnt much at all, I think it would probably take more in gas to drive to the nearlest store to return them than I would be getting back.
Its not the money that was spent.....its just the fact that this really upsets Brian and I really wanted to do this family sand ceremony.
I do have a couple of ideas that I can use it for.

Hun,
I think you should still do it!! Have someone else pour the missing childs sand!! If you guys want to do it, don't punish yourselves because the 15 year old decided baseball was more important then you two!! Maybe you and Brian could pour it together saying that you are pouring for the 15 year old!! Its not fair to everyone else to miss out on a beautiful thing such as this because like I said before the 15 year old thinks baseball is more important!! So yeah, go for it! Do it!! Just have someone stand in for her!!
Or you can always wait until the next time she visits and have her pour hers over the top to seal the deal type of thing!!

The more I think about it, I think you should include the children in the sand ceremony, even if Brian's daughter isn't coming. I think it's a great way to incorporate the entire family.
All of the kids wouldn't have to be attendants in the ceremony, but they'll be there. And you can put a notation in your program that his daughter could not attend, or annouce it as you and Brian add her sand.

Oh and I asked my children if they WANTED to be in the wedding. I should have asked before instead of just assuming they would. Well all of mine actually WANT to be in the wedding. Only Im thinking I may have to add an attendent. My 5 year old SON asked me who was going to throw the little flowers for me to walk on. I told him that I wasnt going to have anyone do it. Brian was all like "ok...Im sorry." (he was trying hard not to laugh) Lance patted Brian on the arm and said "You just have to wait.........till after the wedding, then I will be your son" Brian got a kick out of it.....me? of course, I teared up.

When Matt (my dh) and I became engaged my niece REFUSED to call him Uncle UNTIL we were married!! It was so funny because you'd say "take this to Uncle Matt.." and she'd just stand there and stare at you with a funny look on her face! Then you'd say "ok take it to Matt then" and she'd bound off with a smile on her face!! Now she has no problem calling him uncle!! Weird huh??

Ok.......I mailed my invitations this morning. I sat there for a minute thinking about it. To me theres no turning back now. I actually had no doubts about it at all. I kinda thought I would. Its not that I dont want to marry Brian. I do - with all of my heart. I just guess with everything getting so close, my past is trying to mess with me. "I couldnt make my marriage work before, what makes me think I can do it this time" has been the biggest issue. But this past weekend, I came to a realization. For 1 - Brian is NOT my ex. Brian will work just as hard on our realtionship and marriage as I will. And 2 - I AM NOT THE SAME PERSON I WAS THEN!!! However messed up that breakup and divorce was - I learned something and grew from it. And it made me a better person.
I know in my heart everything happens for a reason and that God sent Brian to me at the perfect time. We didnt NEED anybody, but we did need each other.

I am getting so excited for all of you. Your dates are all coming up real quick.
I'm glad that you were able to realize why things will work this time, Cindy. Sometimes it's hard to remember when you have previously been married. I just blame it on my ex. :D

Thanks Holly. And I used to blame things on my ex too, until I realized that a lot of the BS he pulled was because I LET HIM. Im more out spoken now. If Brian does or says something I dont like, I say something. And he does the same. We used to keep our mouths shut and things just festered while our ex just kept on doing what it was they were doing.

I agree with you on that too, now that you mention it. I am more apt to say something now. I let my ex walk all over me. I really feel that I am more comfortable with my FH then my ex. Sounds like you may feel the same way. It makes me so happy to hear that others are able to move on from their ex's and not let it ruin future GREAT things.

Im not going to say it hasnt been hard, because I have been very cynical and untrusting after my ex. Brian was too, but we helped each other through that.

That's super exsiting!
I'm sorta planning my own bachelorette party. Not really.... but sorta. I wanted to go out before the wedding with my bridesmaids since 2 out of 4 are from out of town. Kim and Elizabeth live close (they're Mark's sisters) Laura lives in Ottawa and has met Kim and Elizabeth when we went dress shopping. But Ashley lives in British Columbia so she's never met any of the other girls and is a little nervous about not fitting in. So i thought it would be really nice for us all to get together get our nails done in the afternoon and go out at night for dinner and whatever eles we can get into.

I tired it on, because I have a hard time finding things like that, that will fit right. It made out of stretchy lace, and fits great! It even "lifts" things up some. I got it from my mom, and I wanting to find out where she got it so I can see if theres other colors available.

Can never complain about a little extra lifting... :D
