I met Sean in August of 1999. (We have a two millenium long relationship) I was working for the summer at Kaufmann's Department store when he came in to do some shopping. We got to talking and after a couple of visits he asked me out. It was a good thing too because he was starting to weird me out some. I mean I was in the ladies' shoe departmenr. What kind of "normal" guy swings by the ladies shoe department to check out the pumps. I was starting to think he was a cross dresser and was feeling the waters so that I would be cool about selling him shoes or that he has some weird foot fetish, I wasn't EVEN going to go there. Well, it turns out that neither apply. (At least I think not, he has never sucked my toes and none of my heels are stretched out.) back on topic now....he asked me out to dinner and a movie. We had a semi decent meal at a local place, Dingbats. (Dingbats is now closed, perhaps because semi decent was as good as the food got?) Then, we went to the movies where we saw the hit of the summer, the Blair Witch Project. I wasn't impressed by the movie but the company was damn good. Sean walked me to my car and we...um...we...said goodnight, eventually.

Soon though I went back to college for the semester. We talked a lot, saw each other on weekends, ect. I never thought it would work out. I was 20 years old, still in college four hours away, doing regular college girl things. Sean was 32 at the time working his way up in his investment firm and maturing more and more every day. I figured it was good to go for some fun when I came home from school but by the time I went back from Christmas break it would have fizzeled out. Besides, I never saw myself getting married let alone falling in love with someone when I was 20. I had a world to save first. There were whales that needed saved from hunters, political prisoners being held in China, orpahns with AIDS in Africa, government conspiracies that needed unravelled, global warming to be tackled, thousands of trees that still needed hugged. I just didn't have time to be in a grown up relatiosnhip with a straight laced investment consultant. But, God is one funny Diety. He decided that I needed in a grown up relationship.

While I was away at school my parents decided that 21 years of marriage was enough and went their seperate ways. That was hard on me and I started to get depressed. On top of that my mother started to get ill and needed surgery. I certainly didn't trust her new ******* of a husband (now exhusband). So I came home and contiued to go to school in the area. I figured it woul dbe easier if I were here. Plus, I could take care of mom when she needed me. It also meant that I got to see Sean almost every weekend. I started to drive the hour to Pittsburgh on Firday after class and would stay until Monday morning when I had to leave again. I looked forward to getting away for those few days. It is what got me through the week...that and saving all those orphans and whales while simultaneoulsy hugging those trees.

Somewhere in there, I fell in love with Sean. I told you God has a funny sense of humor. (At least I am banking on the fact that when I am standing before Him, He can laugh off a few things. ) In falling in love with Sean I found someone who complimented me so fully that it wasn't funny. we are two polar opposite people and because of that we get along so well. After we had been dating almost 2 years my mother decided to give us no warning and left her husband which in essence left me homeless. God and that sense of humor again! So, Sean said that I could stay as long as I wanted. I took him up on that offer. While I lived there he helped support me while I finished school, went to law school, decided I didn't want to be a lawyer, and instead worked to become a teacher. It has been an up and down 6 years. But, his committment to me has never wavered, even if he still won't go and save whales with me.

He became my best friend and the only person I could ever imagine spending the rest of my life with. I went through a lot of losers to get to Sean, which makes me appreciate him even more. Over the 4 years we have lived togehter we have grown so much and totally rubbed off on each other. I go to Pirates games, Sean goes to the ballet. I secretly enjoy movies where things blow up, Sean appreciates Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson for the great actors that they are. We even have two furbabies together. Well, Ruffles was mine from years ago. She has always been my buddy no matter what. But 3 years ago we adopted Ellie

The day we decided to solidify our relationship by getting married was one of the best in my life.

So, the engagement. Like I said, I never really saw myself getting married. I always thought it was a way of controlling women. I spent a lot of time studying politics, women's issues, social issues, ect. in college. I thought that I knoew my stuff. I was wrong. A good teacher can admitt that. I like to think of myself as a good teacher so, I was wrong. I wanted to marry Sean.

We had always toalked about getting married. It was just htat Sean was too busy at work trying to support two people while I was too busy studying something. Finances and circumstnace were just never right. Then things turned around. I was working full time in a adult job. Sean was an official partner in his firm. It was all going well.

Anyhow, on February 27, 2004 we were driving to Greensburg, Pennsylvania in order to get one of our cars serviced. This was going to take some time so that they could change the oil, check things over, reprogram the freakin' radio stations, smear the windshield, and move my seat so that I would never be comfortable again. Sean and I decided to walk across the street to the nearest restuarant, Olive Garden, to get dinner so that we would et home at a decent time. Olive Garden is pretty decent for a family quickie style chain place. Besides, it is Greensburg, Pennsylvania, it isn't like the culinary capital of the free world.

We are sitting there over our endless salad and breaksticks. (Does anyone ever get refill on these?) There were all these cute couples oohhing and aahhing over each other. We were out of that stage by then. I jokingly said that it was about time to set a date and get hitched. 9That is right I used the word hitched in an Olive Garden- that was my proposal ) Usually Sean and I made comments like that too each other all the time. The other one of us would laugh it off with some smart ass comment. Oh no, not this time. He looks across the table and says, you are 100% right, after 5 1/2 years we need to just set a date.

That was my proposal.
Lacey: (laughing) We should get hitched.
Sean: (not laughing) Yes we should set a date.

AHHH! So, being the busy and rational people that we are, we decide to wait and think things over for 2 weeks. In 2 weeks time we will rediscuss the issue and possible dates.

Two weeks rolls right on by. I secretly have the date that I want picked out. We don't mention a thing to anyone or to ourselves. It is like it never happened. Anyway, the day rolls around. I am in bed with the worst case of the flu ever! I ddin't think I was going to live. (I am such a germaphobe anyway). Obviously, I recover, just in time for Sean to be in bed with the worst case of the flu, ever! Florence Nightingale, I ain't! But somehow he pulled through with me running intot he bedroom long enough to drop something off and bolt! (I told you I am a germaphobe.)

Finally, weakened and delirious we get together after the fevers break. We discuss things, ideas, life goals. Yep, we should get married. We then pick dates exactly two weeks apart. Easy compromise, the one in the middle, May 27, 2006.

We then told the parents who were all somewhat happy for us. My parents had a miserable divorce and subsequent marraiges, Sean's mother hates me, his dad and sisters seemed somewhat happy.

But, I still don't have a ring.

Time to get some bling. Sean wants to save up and get me the perfect ring. I am happy and excited about this. But I am not a big jewelery girl so I can wait. He asks me what I want. I don't really know. So, I tell him what I don't want. I don't really care for busy rings, marquises, and hearts. I also tell him I want something very traditional.

On May 27, 2005 Sean and I decide to go out to dinner. It is to celebrate our official 365 days and counting. Everyone says that Sean is going to give me my ring that night. I defend Sean, he would NEVER do something that predictable. Well, long story short, I don't know the man that I am marrying nearly half as well as Phil, our neighbor from 2 doors down.

We are having dinner at my favorite place, Casbah. It has a wonderful wine list and great Middle Easters/Italian/French inspired food. I am a little foodie so I am happy already. Between the appetizer and main course Sean reaches into his pcoket. I think, "Oh **** not in public, DO NOT do this to me in public. If I see one singing waiter I am bailing!" Thankfully Sean knows me well enough to not cause a scene. He just hands me this little wrapped box with a pretty white bow. NOw, I'm not stupid so I know a ring box when I see it. I used to work at Zales, I have even wrapped a few in my day. This is my ring, the moment I have secretly been waiting for except there is like this family reunion at the next table. It is avery nice place and I get to sit next to the most obnoxious group of people in the world. Well they have already been there for quite some time and ordered dessert. They have to be leaving soon. Sean understand my trepidation. We put the box aside and wait for "our moment" The sorbet comes, the main course comes and goes. These people are still laughing like hyenas. They need to go. I order my dessert. Don't these *******s realize that they are ruining the biggest freaking moment of my life. Are the cows do they need to digest in all 8 stoamchs? For God's sake LEAVE! They ordered dessert BEFORE I got my appetizer. This isn't an rush in and out type of joint either. I have been sitting there for a really long time and I want to open my God damn box. I get dessert and coffee and they are still there. Our check comes and they are still there! Finally we give up and walk outside. (I swear on all things holy if I ever see those people in an empty parking lot I might get the gas and brake pedals confused!)

We walk outside and I open my box. I am stunned by what I see. It is a perfect princess cut solitaire. I love it more than anything. (Except Sean and the furbabies of course.) He did a fantastic job working with a jeweler that he knows. This is that I got. The pictures aren't the best but you can see why I was so impressed.

won't bore you all with the tedious details of the wedding planning process over the last 9 or so months. No one wants to read all that ****. But, I will show you what we have so far and then I'll start fishing for some ideas.

The ceremony is going to be held at the New Cumberland Nazarene Church in New Manchester, West Virginia. (Yes, the church used to be in New Cumberland, the next town over, but they built a new place. I don't knw what the hell happened.) This is the town that I grew up in. This is the church tat my mother and grandmother got married in. So, it was important to them that I get married there as well. Since I am not a picky person and will be just as married wheter it is in the New Cumberland Nazarene Church or the ballroom of my reception venue, I gave in. The church itself is beautiful. So, I can't complain. My cousin is a minister in that faith and is going to perform the ceremony. So that should be a lovely personal touch. However, the premarital sessions could be weird. Fortunatley I don't know Ron all that well so I should be able to cope.

The reception is going to be held in downtown Pittsburgh. Don't panic, it is only like a 40 minute drive through some beautiful territory. It will be held at the Rivers Clud. This is a private athletic and social dining club in one of our more beautiful all glass buildings. The venue is breathtaking with its art deco inspired ballroom and mahogany and brass private bar that will be closed to the public and used only by my guests that night. The wedding coordinator is fabulous. I trust her totally with my day. I also love the fact that we will be the only event on the site all day long. Everyplace else that we looked at woul dhae at least 2 events going on. Here, I am the center of attention, just like I deserve to be.

Here is a link to club's site if anyone is interested in taking a look.

After the date and locations were set, the dress was the next big ticket item. Now, my mother was dead set that I woul dhave the dress of my dreams. I on the other hand am not hte pickest person when it comes to fashion. I like simple things that I don't have to worry about going out of style in nice neutral colors that I can mix and match. I am very classic in my dress. My mother on the other hand wants bows, ribbons, lace, buttons, sparkles, and anything else on there. It also helps if it is so low that it borders on indecent. (My mother isn't trashy, she just likes to show off what God gave her.) So you can see this is going to be fun.

We travelled through three states looking for a dress. I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. It was awful. Everything I likes wasn't nice neough or detailed enough or didn't look enough like a wedding gown to suit mom. Everything she liked was too lacy, frilly, and pearl encrsuted. It doesn't help that I really hate the look of to so called traditioanl wedding gowns the big lace sleeves, heaey train, reembroidered lace, ect. They are just totally not me.

Finally at MB Bridals I found a dress that I liked. This was a first because every other dress that I saw I hated. So to find one that didn't make me want to vomit was a bit step up. I actually went to try on a different gown taht I had been looking at in magazines. It made me want to vomit when I finally got in it. But I saw this dress on a dressing form and deicded to give it a try. After all I drove over an hour to get there I might as well see what else they had to offer me. As soon as I got it on, I knew it was the one. I love it. I didn't care if anyone else liked it or loved it or hated it. I was lucky in the fact that my mom liked it too. I just couldn't stand the thought of getting married in a dress that my mother hated.

To go along with the dress pictured below I have a double layer veil with one cathedral length layer and one cage length layer. It is white with crystals scattered around the ten inches that border the edge of the veil. I really didn't give a damn about the head gear. I let mom handle that. I told her I would conset to wear any veil that she went with as long as I could take it off BEFORE I left the church for the reception. Considering her only other option was me going veiless, she consented.

I just got a call the other night that my dress is in. AS soon as I get a chance I'll get some pictures of me in it. You might have to wait til after the holidays though.

Next came our wedding parties. This wasn't hard because Sean and I have tons of friends but only a few people that we feel deserve this honor. (HOwever in hindsight I did not pick wisely. I will post on that one later)

Our bridal party:
MOH: Deanna - best friend since kindergarten
BMs: Shanielle - my cousin
Tash - my cousin
Erin - friend since birth (literally our moms were friends and our birthdays are a couple days apart)
Kelly - Sean's sister
Jennie - Sean's sister
Flower girls: Haeleigh - my Goddaughter and MOH's oldest daughter
Jilliam - my Goddaughter and MOH's youngest daughter

BM: Doug - Sean's best friend since 2nd grade
GMS: Dan
Bob
Rich
Tony - all Sean's friends from high school
Mike - Sean's brother in law (Kelly's husband)

I know it seems like a lot of people but we didn't even include half of the people that we could have. The insanity had to stop somewhere.

Next came the bridesmaids' dresses. This was easy. I didn't want the girls spending a ton. I wanted something that they could wear again. (at least the couple of them who actually go out). I also wanted something a little different. I have been in one too many pastel chiffon numbers with bows or fake flowers on my butt to subject anyone that I love to that misery. (I just wish some of my bm's would have been that freaking thoughtful!)
.

The dress will be black and the little bow trim will be blush pink. The wedding itself is black and white with little pink accents here and there. Do you think the girls could wear it again to a semiformal occasion?

So far we don't have too many accesories. I know that I want a photo mat for a guest book. It is just a matter of ordering it. I need to get that done after the holidays. We did get our flutes and cake serving set. I just loved these when I saw them. They are so simple.

One of the biggest things for me was the flowes. I knew that I wanted a day filled with flowers. Since my wedding is pretty big and I have a lot of flowers I am actually using two florists. One will decorate the church and handle teh bouquets while the other is left strictly in charge of the reception venue.

The reception venue is gong to be filled with white flowers (no daisies, carnations, or mums though) There will be an arraingment on the piano that is played during cocktail hour. White rose petals will be scattered around the cake and on our sweetheart table. There will be potted palms everywhere. These are teh centerpieces. My florist was kind enough to do a mock up for me before i signed the contract. I LOVE my centerpeices. They might be my favorite part of the entine wedding. They will be sitting on a white satin table clother with black napkins ties with white satin bows. The centerpeices will be surrounded by tea lights in crystal holders.(ok probably glass that the flrosit got on sale at Micahels but still the idea is nice)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/Centerpiece3.jpg

For my flowers I want pink and white peonies, kind of like this only with some lovely stephanotis with pearl centers and lily of the vally tucked throughout them. The stems will be wrapped in white satin with crystal push pins. Sean's bout. will be the stephanotis, lily of the valley and shamrock sprig.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/flowerslacey.jpg

Our parents corsages and bouts. will be the staphanotis since that was the main flower that both of our mother's carried when they married.

My BM's will be carrying something like this. Only of course it will be in soft white and pink. The stems will be wrapped in black satin. The MOH's bouquet will be slightly larger than the rest. The groomsmen will be wearing white sweetpea bouts.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/flowersbm.jpg

As for the church Iam still working on ides. I know that the center aisle will be closed before the ceremony by garlands of greenery and white flowers. I also know that there wil lbe two large verticle and one large horizontal arraingments of white flowers framing the alter and the string quartet. The room is fairly large so I will probably have more potted palms brought in to add some color.

Near the guest book will be a memory vase with a white rose for each family member that we wish coul dbe there with us.

Mmm cake. I happen to like cake. Everyone likes cake. I fell in love with this cake though. I totally love it. It is perfect. I love and collect Middle Eastern art so the design is so totally me. Yes, the icing will be black. If everyone has black teeth than no one can laugh. The cake itself will be yellow cake with lemon curd and fresh berries filling it. I am debating bewteen strawberries or blueberries. Decision decisions.

We have a lot of other stuff done. We have a great photogrpaher and videographer booked. We have a cocktail hour musician and band/dj for the reception. We are haivng a string group for the church. I always dreamed of walking down the aisle to string playing and gosh golly I will have it! The menus is done as well. The food tasting was so much fun.

We are having a sit down dinner with a cocktail hour beforehand. The venue provides several bar options, we went with the middle one. I don't want the cheap stuff but I don't want idiots swilling Grey Goose mixed with orange juice either. We will have a champagne toast as well.

For the cocktail hour we are having:
a stationary dispaly of seasonal fruits, melons, and berries
Waiters will be passing:
bbq duck wrapped in bacon
mini crab cakes
fried artichoke hearts
5 spice sea scallops
pecan crusted chicken

For dinner guests have a choice of:
herb crusted Norwegian salmon
truffle scented chicken Marsala
Vegetarian Neapolean
Grilled filet mignon
all are served with a garden salad, fresh veggies, and chive infused mashed potatoes.

For dessert:
wedding cake
chocolate fountain
cookie display (all made by my mom and I and Sean's aunt.)

Back in August, we sent out the save the date cards. With our wedding being over a holiday weekend and having a lot of traveling guests we thought a heads up would be good. I am the least creative person in the world. I have no patience for arts and crafts. God bless those of you who do. So, in order to actually save money and frustration we bought our save the dates. We got them from www.magnetstreet.com. I was very happy with the product and the service.

Anyway, here are my flowergirl dresses that the world's two cutest little flower girls are going to wear. The dresses will be black with soft pink sashes.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/flowergirls.jpg

They will be carrying little pomanders like the one shown except the colors will be softer pink and white.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/flowersfg.jpg

They will be wearing little wreaths in their hair like this again, the colors will be different but the idea stays the same.

So I said that Sean could pick out the invitations. I really didn't care too much. Then I got worried because of the episode of Seinfeld where George makes Susan just order the cheapest invitiations and she dies from the toxic glue. (Not that Sean is cheap in the slightest but I know how men think, why waste money on paper that someone is going to throw away?) Anyhow we looked at several places and he decided on these. What do your girls think? They aren't too bad. I would have liked something with a little more flair but these seem nice and traditional.

These are my dream wedding shoes. I love the huge bow! They are by Kate Spade. I just cannot justify spending $350 on shoes that I will wear once! Let's face it, white satin isn't something that you break out of the closet too often. And I know me, I'll never get them dyed.

I am having my mother's engagement ring turned into a diamond solitaire neckalce for me to wear at the wedding. But, I love pearls and want to wear those too. So I though that since my dress is sleeveless and kind of plain I could get away with a pearl bracelet. These are the two that I found so far that I like. This is definately something that I could wear again and again. I was thinking to tie everything together aboutwearing diamond and pearl earrings that are kind of dangly.

My mother and grandmother insisted that we have professional engagement pictures taken. I could have cared less but it seemed like a big deal to them. The first photographer that we hired included them as part of her package. I am so glad that she did too. Her albums were decent for the price that we were paying. She had nice client feedback. Then she took our engagemnt pictures. The day was a disaster. To make matters worse when she emailed me my pictures they were so horrible I sat down and cried. They were THAT bad. She Photoshopped so much stuff in them you couldn't even see us. She put a big fake "sparkly" star over ever pictures of my ring. Look at my ring in my **** pictues I did with out digital, does it look like it needs a big fake star over it!? I am glad I got bad engagment pictures though because it saved me from having bad wedding pictures. After that she was immediately fired.

We hired another photographer who is much better. But he couldn't do our engagemtn pictures. So after hunting around for awhile our friend Betsy, one of the best portrait photgraphers in the city volunteered to do the pictures for us. We didn't want to ask her because we didn't want to make her feel obligated to do it. When I gor her pictures back I cried again, not because they were that bad but because they were that good. Here is just a VERY small sample of what she did.

We got our tuxes tonight. Yeah! One more thing to cross off of the to do list. Then we went out for Thai food (yellow curry...yummy!)
Sean and all of his groomsmen got the 2 button Tommy Hilfieger tuxedoes.
The groomsmen all have black satin vests and long ties
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/gmtuxes.jpg
Sean wanted to be slightly different so he opted for a platinum colored vest and long tie. He didn't like the white on white look.

It's been a while since I updated in the journal. I took some time off for the holidays but since the holidays will be officially over in a few hours I suppose I should get back on the wedding planning wagon. Last night Sean booked our honeymoon. We are spending 5 fabulous nights at the Sandal's Royal Bahamian Resort. I am so excited about that. We have an oceanview suite with either private balcony or patio and conceirge service. Which is a must have for us considering I am not going to happy sitting on the beach so I need someone to find something for me to do. The resort have fabulous snorkeling and diving too. I am going to get scuba certified on my first day there. I love snorkeling so I really want to be able to scuba as well. We will be flying out at 10:30 am on the Sunday after the wedding. That is provided that there aren't any delays which would be a first for us. Plus there is a great spa that I can't wait to finally unwind from the wedding in. Now I just have to remember to call my doctor to get my sedatives refilled because in case you didn't know, I HATE FLYING in any form. Let alone to a tiny little dot out in the middle of the Caribbean Sea!

I love your journal Lacey! Everything sounds perfect. I love the tuxes you guys got. Very classy! I really liked all your engagment pictures too. Which one did you end up picking?

I love the idea of having your Mom's diamond turned into a necklace. That is so personal. I bet she will be touched to see you wearing it on your special day.

Thanks Becky! I am always so insecure about pictures of me. I cringed at the thought of having them done. To answer your question we ordered the top two. I wish I had a scanner. Our engagement annoucement ran in my two local hometown papers last month. I need to get off of my butt and send the picture and form to Sean's hometown paper too. I promise I will do that Monday or Tuesday!

Sean and I have decided that over the next two Saturdays we will be registering for the wedding. We have to break it up over the two weekends because on Sunday he is hell bent that the Steelers will be playing Indianapolis in the playoff quest. I am currently online making a list of what I have to remember to register for. So far it isn't nearly as long as I thought. But that will change when I get to the stores and see all the little stuff that they don't always keep on the website.Anyway we are 100% set on Williams Sonoma because I LOVE to cook, Kaufmanns because they are a nice big department store that I can get my "nice" stuff at, and Target because there are just lots of odds and ends there. I also want to look at someplace like Brookstone or Sharper Image because they have a lot of different things there. After living together for several years we don't need to many basics so some off the wall stuff would be nice like wireless outdoor speakers, message chairs, or wacky ipod stereo systems.

In my bouquet I am planning on carrying peonies, stephanotis, and lily of the valley in a hand held style wrapped in white satin ribbon. My dress is rather on the plain side when it comes to embleishments. So I was thinking of getting some bouquet jewels to add some bling. I wanted to get these to insert inside the stephanotis since they have to be wired anyway. I would probably get the white/clear ones. I am not sure if I am doing an all white bouquet or pink peonies with white stephanotis and lily of the valley. I think I will probably end up going with the latter since my dress has pink through it.

http://www.bouquetjewels.com/estrella.htm

Then instead of plain pushpins on the stems holding the ribbon in place I was thinking about getting these. I would get the emerald shaped ones in the white/clear.

I have pretty much decided on programs too. I found these and they are only $1 each if I get them unprinted and tie the ribbon myself. I don't mind printing them myself but I am not really great with making things so if I had to do it all from scratch, I would kill someone. (Probably a totally innocent bystandered too.) But if I have a template, I can run just about anything through our printer since it a fairly decent one. It won't let me upload them so I just have to put the link in. (:censored: piracy controls!) I would get them in white with black satin ribbon. A bonus is that the ribbon is already cut too. So, I have regular lime and pomagranet margarita mixes in the fridge downstairs plus an assortment of wine and beers, who is coming over to help me tie 250 satin ribbons?

Apparently according to Sean upon seeing the mistake I lapsed into quite the rampaging and frightening Bridezilla. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Well, I am 2/3 of the way done registered. We went to Target and Kaufmanns today. We have to go to Williams Sonoma next Saturday and then back to Kaufmann's in a couple weeks to finish with the linens because right now they are moving out the winter and moving in the new stuff so the registry consultant recommended that we hold off until February on that. I have to say that registering is SO much fun. Even Sean got into with with the little laser guns. I thought he would hate it but he had a good time.

I am having a bridal shower! I went to visit my mom yesterday to help her with it. After making me drag her to every possible venue in the Weirton, WV/ Steubenville, OH area she settles on the one that she was looking at months ago. So I am having my shower on April 22, 2006 at the Weiron Holiday Inn.

They have this fabulous Italian resturant there that does the catering. My mother is very critical of my eating habits most of the time because I don't eat the food that I grew up on. (lots of red meat and potatoes or refined grains) instead I eat ony white meat chicken and fish, whole grains, organics, ect. But when she was planning the menu she made sure that the caterer agreed to NO meats or meat stocks in the pasta sauce. The pasta had to be whole grain. The meat was to all be chicken breasts. And in the salad was to be NO cheese and NO salami/pepperoni/ect. Go Mom! The caterer wasn't happy about it but went along anyway.

So for a menu we are having a sit down lunch of rigatoni with marinara sauce, grilled chicken breasts, tossed salad, and rolls. I forgot to mention that it is a mixture of white Italian styles rolls and whole grain rolls. The cake is gong to be made by Sean's sister who is a fabulous pastry chef. The invitations are being done by his other sister who is a great artist and graphic designer. My mom and fmil are paying for the room and food while my bm's are paying for the cake, invitaitons, favors, and centerpieces, along with any supplies and prizes for games.

I am so excited! Of course any of you ladies who happen for some odd reason or crule twist of fate to be in West Virginia that day are more than welcome to stop in!

I just realized as I was posting this that I was telling you all the details first before geting back to my bm's and fmil.

I decided on a wax seal for the invites. We went with the celtic knot because that is what Sean wanted. It wasn't my favorite but I did ask him which one he wanted and that is the one that he picked.....that'll teach me to ask his opinion. So we are doing that one with black wax. I am going to press the stamper into a silver ink before pressing it into the wax. This way I get a two tone design with the raised parts being black and the recessed parts being silver. It should look nice for like an extra tenth of a second's worth of work.

I just ordered our guest book. We are going with a photo matt for our wedding picture. This way we will actually look at it instead of tossing it into the cedar chest and never looking at it again. I was surprised, I found this one at Pottery Barn and it was exactly what I wanted. To order the same thing on the wedding sites was usually around $100 more. I finally uploaded my Christmas pictures. I think that these three are my favorite.

This one is the family: Sean, Ellie, and Ruffles in the aftermath of Christmas morning.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/EllieandRooChristmas2005-2.jpg

I think this is my favorite. It is Ellie stealing Ruffles's toy that Santa brought her. Ellie sat for probably 10 minutes waiting for Ruffles to fall asleep before the little thief struck.

Lots of deliveries today. I told the UPS guy that I would be seeing a lot of him.

This is the photo frame and mat that we are using for our guest book. I can't believe how huge it is. For reference it is sitting on a queen sized bed. The red thing is the acid free pen that came with it. I got it from Pottery Barn.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/Photoframe.jpg

This is one of my first ebay puchases. They are the bubbles that we are going to be using when we exit the church. I am tying them with black ribbon that has our names and wedding date on it.

These are for my bouquet. The first on is an emerald shaped clear crystal. I have three of these to hold the ribbon wrapping my stems into place. The second is the inserts for my stephanotis. They photographed kind of dark but are much clearer in person.

The photo mat and frame were $99 before tax and shipping. I honestly forget exactly because Sean bought them. But it is really really huge. I have seen smaller versions (since you are having less guests because you don't have the wanna be socialite of the year as a fmil :bbevil: ) at Target and Michaels in their wedding stuff. But you would have to buy the frame seperately.

The wax seals came today. I love coming home and finding boxes. Of course as soon as I got them in the door I had to play with them. By about the 5th one I had a system that worked for me. It just takes some practice. My advice though 1. have a fan because the smell starts to get to you after a few minutes of inhaling the black smoke, 2. take your time, they make it seem like you have to rush, but you don't 3. Make sure you have a good lighter preferably one of those grill lighters - I just had a book of matches and it was a pain, a regular old bic lighter would probably get too hot.

I am going to stamp a couple of envelopes tonight to send out to myself and my mom to see how the seal holds up. So I will get a picture then.

I am officially marrying the cutest little Goober in the world. Sean called me on my way home from work to ask if I wanted to go to dinner. I haven't felt well all week and really just wanted to go home but then the idea of not cooking was pretty good too. Hmmmmm.......I asked him where he wanted to go. He wanted to go somewhere nice. I said no I would rather stay home. Going someplace "nice" would entail me having to change clothes since today was casual day and I wore jeans and a sweater. It would also mean that I had to freshen up my makeup and attempt to do something with this mop of hair that lives on my head. Of course he gets all disappointed sounding and mentions that he really wanted to try this place all the way in Zelienople called the Kaufman House. This just makes me more determined to stay at home because Zelienople is like 45 minutes out of the city. So, what does he say....he says that is fine we can stay in since I don't feel well. He will just call and canel the reservation and also cancel the appoint with Drew, our jeweler. Then sudden it dawns on me our jeweler is in Zeilenople right across from the Kaufman House. I ask why he made an appointment with Drew and his response, "So we can get our wedding rings designed and made." This also means that I can finally pick up my necklace that I had made from my mom's engagement ring! I am so excited cause I am getting my wedding ring tonight!!!! (Of course the camera will be coming along)

I hope you get exactly what you want Lacey!!!

LaceyinPgh
01-27-2006, 10:39 PM
Of course I was too excited and left the camera in the car. :bawling: But I ended up with a diamond and white gold ring. It has 7 prong set princess cut diamonds than span across my finger. I looks amazing with my engagement ring. Sean's ring is a simple beveled edged band that is made out of tungsten. Then it has a band of white gold that goes around the middle. It is very striking. If you haven't seen the tungsten rings they are a very shiny dark grey metal. So with the shiny bright white metal it looks nice. I can't believe I forgot the camera.

Sean and I have also decided to engrave our rings with a special message to each other. We are each going to pick out hte message and keep it secret until we exchange rings.

I also picked up my necklace that I had made. It is beautiful! Words can't describe it. Well actually they can it is a heart shaped diamond solitaire necklace on a white gold chain. I'll post pictures of it tomorrow. I am too lazy to walk downstairs and get the camera right now.

We went to the jewellers first because by the time we got all the up in Zelienople it was after 6. I have to say, dinner was a big disappointment. Everyone talks about how nice and great this resturant is supposed to be but the decor was awful, the salad was beyond foul. I ordered a portabello salad without cheese and of course the cheese was on it when it came. Then the mushroom was one of those giant caps that was raw and under all the greens. And it was over dressed. The entree was so over cooked that I got tired of chewing. The side dishes were bland (boiled potatoes and frozen microwaved green beans.) I didn't even bother with dessert. But the wine was good even if the wine list sucked. I feel so much better now that I got that off of my chest.

I was a busy shopping girl today.

First I visited www.advantagebridal.com where I got:
my full crinoline (I liked theires bebcause they weren't the high waisted ones and they didn't have a draw string)

I got Sean and I flip flops to wear on the beach

Then I saw these and couldn't resist. I mean I get specail new undies, why shouldn't he?

Then I paid a visit to www.customizedgirl.com where I got adorable little baby blue bikini undies that say "Lacey and Sean - May 27, 2006"

Here is the ribbon that I ordered. This is actually two ribbons. Each on is double faced black satin ribbon with silver writing on it. They are each pretty long, I am estimating 10-12 inches.

I just ordered my bridesmaids gifts. I got 6 three stone pendants with each of the girls' birthstones in them (garnet, blue topaz, perdoit, and citrine) for a whopping $237.44 from www.overstock.com. They also come with chains although they don't look like the highest quality chains. (My girls can upgrade on their own.) I just have to find something for my flower girls. Things Remembered has really cure cross necklaces. Maybe I will check into those.

Well I just got done tying 150 ribbons to 150 bottles of bubbles, alone. How sad is that? It took all day too because the ribbon is only printed on one side and you have to be very deliberate when making the bows so the printing shows up. I sent an email to all 6 of my bridesmaids asking them to come and hlep me with this little project this weekend. Out of 6 emails I got 2 responses, one from my cousin saying she coulnd't help and one from Sean's sister saying that if I needed her to call. Well I should have called but I feel bad because of all my bridesmaids she is the only one who helps me with anything. So I always feel like I am abusing her.

My mother won't help because it is my fault for picking bridesmaids who won't do anything. I should have chosen more wisely (as if I am Indiana Jones looking for the Holy Grail or something!) Oh I just get so frustrated by peoples' laziness and lack of caring that it frustrates me beyond anything!

Aww, Lacey, I'm sorry! :bbcry: That really stinks.

I don't understand why someone would agree to be a bridesmaid of they didn't want to help with the wedding. Isn't that the whole point? I heard somewhere that the 'tradition' is one BM for every 50 guests.. I guess it's so that she can help tie 150 bottles of bubbles very carefully with 150 ribbons that are printed on one side. By that idea, you would have had 3 girls helping you.

There will be a total of 26 people at our wedding (including Carlo, Elias, and I) so I won't have these kinds of problems.. But I sympathise. I do know how it is to have a project that you were supposed to have help with, but the help bailed, so you're up that creek and you have no paddle. All you've got is a box of bubbles and a mile of one-sided ribbon.

:hug:Hugs!! And as for your bridesmaids....

...Give 'Em the chair!! :chair:

Thanks for the support girls. I love my bridesmaids but sometimes you just need to get it off of your chest, you know. I do have days though that if you all lived closer, I would fire them and hire all of you. (Well most of them, Jennie could stay too.)

So, here is the fruit of my labor:
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/Bubblesandbows.jpg

Also, when I got home from work there was a package waiting for me. I love that. My bridesmaids' gifts came in. I ordered 6 three stone necklaces. They look very pretty. I am sure my girls will like them. You can't see them too well but I have birthstones for: January (Deanna), March (Shab and Mindy), August (Kelly), November (Jennie and Tash). The only bad thing is that I have to find gift boxes. Overstock.com just sends them in little plastic envelopes. I want boxes so I can wrap them up all pretty and fix them on a gift table for the rehersal dinner.

Those are cute little bags! My poor UPS guy. He only manages to stop by on days where I am home for odd reason in the middle of they day. You can tell he isn't used to people opening the door. Sean and I went out to dinner last night for Valentine's Day. We went to the place tht we are having our reception at. Dinner was great. Tot op it off the foood manager comp'd our wine and bottle of champagne. (For the amount of money we are laying down over there I don't think that it was going to kill them to do that.) It was so cute because for Valentine's Day they sent all the couples home with gift bags that had mini muffins made by their pastry chef, truffles from the chocolate shop in the same building, and bags of tea. I am having some tea and muffins now but it is all by myself. I just got back from taking Sean to the airport. He will be out of town until THursday evening. :bawling: But my mommy is coming up to stay and help me with some weddig things. So I need to get the house picked up some so she doesn't complain.

We exchanged Vday gifts last night too. I got a beautiful two strand pearl bracelet with a white gold clasp. It is very Jackie O. I love it. I'll get soem pictures of it up because I am putting it away to wear at the wedding.

True, you will have the sitter thing to worry about for some time to come. That is the joy of having Ruffles and Ellie. I toss some pee pee pads down, amke sure the water and food bowls are filled. Then, out the door I go. For some reason that is fine for them but if you try that with a baby, children and youth services get all bent out of shape.

Well we didn't do much today. The weather was pretty yucky. We did manage to get all the enclose cards for the invtes folded. I went to Sephora today. I have to say, that the mineral make up looks like **** on me. I was surprised as was the sales girl. But she really did a great job finding me things that looked nice. She also hooked my mom up with some stuff. Suprisingly with all of the stuff there I mostly ended up with Clinique and Chanel which I can really buy just about anyplace. I was a big challenge for her because my skin tone is so funny. I'm glad I went though because I left with some colors I never would have thought to try. Plus I got some great samples of a moisturizer and foundation that I am really happy with.

I went to JCrew and got some new jeans. They are so soft. I can't wait til Friday to wear them to work. I also found a couple of really cute outfits that my mom is getting me for my bridal shower so I can take them on my honeymoon. I can't wait. I love their clothes.

Oh, and I added some things to my Williams Sonoma registry. I needed a few in store only items. I'm glad that is out of the way.

It isn't just Sephora, I never have an easy time buying makeup. I have a very deceptive skin tone. I have olive skin so automatically everyone wants me in warm colors but those make me look green. Also, they want me to have these really dark colors but I am actually a lot fairer than I appear so everything washes me out. Any make up you put on me turn brown and I look dirty. So everything have to have a very pink base to it. It really is a challenge. But at Sephora I got a sales consultant that actually listened to me. Usually they treat me like i don't know what I am talking about then end up wasting an hour trying to find the right colors and shades. But this girl did a great job.

My mommy just went home now I am all alone. That makes me sad. But in a way it is good too because she makes me keep the house way too hot and then she has horrible insomania (that she won't tell her doctor about) that causes her to roam all night long. My house isn't big enough for roaming. We had fun though. But the doctor changed around her heart meds so she was really tired most of the time. I hate when they do that to her.

On an up note, my special wedding day underpants came in. I have them washed and ready to go for the big day. But,I think I need to give them a little run through one. I can't think of anything worse than uncomfortable underpants on my wedding day.

My poor UPS guy. I was shopping with my mom this week and we walked past one of those little novelty shops that sell tshirts and stuff. The first one in the window said "I (heart) my UPS guy!" My mom and I about died laughing becausing of my UPS guy stories. (That poor man.)

The other one which I thought was pretty funny was "My country invaded Iraq and all I got was this lousy gas bill" Which even if you are a Bush lover you can still find the humor in that one. (I hope - I don't want to cause problems.)

Well I got all 153 outter envelopes done. That was a lot of freaking work. It took a couple of days. I also got about 15 of the inner envelopes done. SO I have to finish those sometime. Hopefully this weekend.

It has been incredibly crazy around here. That is why I haven't been posting too much. I haven't even been thinking about the wedding too much. I have a couple of major projects I am sponsoring or helping out with at work including the mock Middle East conference. You won't belive how into the kids are. Then there are a few others. Of course after his week plus of travels, Sean comes home with the flu. So that has been fun.

On an up note my girlfriends and I are off to see "Wicked" tonight and to get dinner. So that should be exhausting and fun. Especially since grades are due next week and I have a pile of papers that make my invitations work look like nothing. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be on this weekend some, I promise. THere is so much to get caught up on.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack! Aren't you all lucky. It has been such a long week at work. I got home today and 330 and by 335 was sound asleep. Apparently Sean and my mom both called and I didn't even hear the phone ring. Sean woke me up when he got home around 6. Between the wedding, all the projects at work, the school musical that I got sucked into, daily life, and trying to keep my sanity, I am getting freakin' tired. I usually don't get tired. I have energy that you can't imagine. With 4 hours of sleep I am ready to start the day. All right I lied, 4 hours of sleep and a stop at Starbucks. But today I was really dragging. Even the kids noticed.

Our Middle East conference went very well. It took a ton of work for us and the kids. They took it so seriously too all the way down to going out to WalMart the night before and getting into costumes complete with fake beards and turbans. Our Clinton impersonator even perfected his Clinton accent and mannerisms. (We kept him away from the freshman girls just in case he perfected them a little too well.) Amazingly 12 high school kids were able to do what scores of politicians and leaders haven't been able to do, they fixed the problem by compromising and working things out. It was really nice.

Now, if i can just get through the joint project the is brewing with the literature class I might be able to keep my sanity. The musical is in March I don't know if I am going to make it. Oh and today progress reports are due. For the most part all of my kids got A's and B's. (Of course I am failing since I only graded about half of their work.) The other half is in the to do pile. I think I might have to just smack some check plus/minuses on those and call it a day. Never plan a wedding, fill up your free time with other stuff, and still make most of your assignments essays.

"Wicked" rocked last night. it was a really great show. It ranked up there with seeing "Phantom of the Opera" in Tornonta and the original cast of "Rent". It was the social even of the Pittsburgh season with scalpers selling tickets for $400 a seats. Our seats were really good and I almost sold mine but I am glad I didn't My thought was that I could pay off half of what I owe my photographer but then I realized I would regret it for a long time if I did. The only down side was that it was 2 hours and 45 minutes long. That was a really long time to sit even for me. The worst was that my one friend is 6 months pregnant so she really had a hard time.

I promise I will get cuaght up on everything on here tomorrow and Sunday.

CarlosHoney
02-25-2006, 12:00 PM
Oh, it all sounds like so much fun!! I'll bet the presentation was a riot!!! :bblol:

Glad you went to the show, though, I would have probably sold them. I'm just the type of person that unless I have all (or want all) of a band's CD's I won't go to the concert. I went to see Cats, but the ticket was $50, and my friend would have gone alone. I simply won't pay money to go see a movie unless I MUST see it in the theater (I went to see Brokeback Mountain, Broken Flowers, Farenheit 911..Well, F911 mainly because of all the hype) so wow. That must have been worth it.

Can't wait to hear what else is up. An yeah, there's no sleep like the sleep of the dead.

I finished all of the invitations tonight. ALl of the inner and outter envelopes are done. They are all stuffed. Now they are just waiting for my bm, Jennie, to drop off the map cards so I can insert those and then seal them. According to my planner they need to be sent out on March 27 which is 8 weeks beforehand. But everyone I have talked to says 6 weeks beforehand. Who is right? Does it matter? Maybe I'll just split the difference and send them at the 7 week mark instead. Oh the things I worry about.

CarlosHoney

I'm sending mine 6 weeks. Though it's sad, honestly, I need people to RSVP no. I've got 49 on the list, and I need 9 to say no. It's sick. I can't say no to inviting them, and several I know won't be able to come, but you know how people take it when they don't get invited.

Am I horrible? I just feel slimy about the A/B list idea. Gross. :bbconfused:

I am sending mine 8 weeks in advance just so there is more then enough time. Out of town guests have to book their rooms at the hotel prior to May 3rd, so i really want to make sure that there is enough time for everyone to do that without cutting it too close to the deadlines. Plus i am super annxious about everything! I think i had set the week of March 27th to put everything in the mail. I figure why not.... everyone knows about the wedding. I have almost everything ready to go. All the envelopes are addressed, the invitations, RSVP's, map cards, and hotel information cards are ready to be put in the envelopes.

I guess which ever you feel would suit the needs of your guests best. If there are alot of people coming from out of town, give them that exra week to two weeks to make plans. And depending on how far they are coming from the invite will take longer to get there.

No you aren't slimy. What is slimy is when you either invite people to fill in the gap when others RSVP no or you send out save the dates to people and never follow up with an invitation (happened to fsil with a friend's wedding).

I personally have many people coming and I am really hoping that a few of them RSVP no. I think all brides feel that way.

Aah. Okay. I mean, there are the "I know they're not comings" and the "They might, uh-ohs!"

I really need 9 people not to show. Really. I can fit them, but it will be cramped, and we'll have to sacrifice food quality.

Congrats on getting all your done. I'm going to be doing mine in a couple of weeks.

I went to a wedding for a distant cousin this past July. Apparently they did what most couples do, they found a venue, made out their guest list, and then divded what was left over among the parents to invite who they wanted. To top it off, her parents were very generous in paying for all of the food on the condition that the groom's parents pay for the bar. Well the groom's mother wasn't happy about not being able to invite everyone that she wanted so she went and printed out her own extra invitations and sent them out. My cousin's mother sudden'ty was getting RSVPs for people that she never heard of. It turns out that they had like 70 additional people that were attending the wedding even though the hall held way fewer. It was so packed in there you could barely move. Plus the air conditioning sucked so it was so hot (Ohio River Valley in July) that chewing made you break a sweat. It ws just awful. To top it off, when my cousin's mother called the future mother in law to ask her what was going on she was informed if she and her daughter were going to be :censored: about who she was allowed to invite they could just pay for the bar themselves. So since they had to roll over all this money into extra food and cake there was no bar to get something to drwon your misery for the evening in. So 9 extra people won't be THAT bad.

That entire family except for the groom are some of the biggest :censored: I know. I can't believe that April married into them. She is a lot like me though so I am not to worried about her. This is the same situation where at the bridal shower cards for marraige advice were passed around. Then after they were collected Ricky and April read them. I was going through my Photo Bucket account and I found some nice old pictures of Sean and I through our relationship that I thought I would share. I really don't feel well tonight so I figured posting them would keep my mind off of things. You might have seen them before in other threads but here it goes. I have them on here so I might as well use them.

These are from our first real vacation in 2001. We went to Atlantic City, New Jersey for a few days and then down to Ocean City, Maryland.

On the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. I cannot believe the sales girl was able to talk me into that burgandy lipstick!

On the car ferry crossing from Deleware to Maryland. Sean claims this is one of his favorite pictures of me.

The welcome center on Assateague has a pool of wildlife you can play in. I enjoy that stuff. It freaks Sean out.

In March 2002 we went to Boca Raton, Floridia. This was the trip with the famed flight from Atlanta to Pittsbrugh that was delayed for 2 hours because the pilot "forgot" he was supposed to be flying that night.

Here we are outside the hotel. It was such a nice place.

We make random trips every year to South Bend, Indiana where Sean went to school. He is a Notre Dame boy. We try to see at least one foodball game a year. Here are some random shots.

We look happy here. It is dark so I am assuming that they won. HOwever, we also would have been tailgating since breakfast so that might have had something to do with it too.

This is Mary. As legend goes, Sean and his roomie, Johnny recieved Mary as a tribute from freshman living in their dorm during their senior year. Apparenlty she was "freed" from the confines of someone's yard. (I pictures a sad little old lady.) Anyway, they fixed Mary up and painted her gold like the statue on top of the Golden Dome at school. Mary attend all important functions within Sean's circle of college friends. Mary will be at out wedding.

We go to Vegas because Sean loves blackjack and I love spending blackjack winnings at various designer stores. What can I say, sometimes I have to be a spoiled brat. I also like playing craps. I never know what is going on but I get to through the dice and people clap for me. What more could a girl want?

This little guy. This is what more a girl could want. Look at him. He is precious. He was also almost $600. Sean would not let me have him because he figured the price would double because the bear would have to have his own seat on the flight home.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/LaceyandBear.jpg

This is perhaps the only time I have ever been truly afraid of an animal in my life. Look at this thing. Have you ever seen a gator do this? It is down right creepy!

Our favorite spot in Vegas is the Fontana bar at the Bellagio hotel. You can sit on the patio (too damn hot) or you can sit looking our the huge glass doors at the fountains. When the fountains go off they open the doors so you can hear the music. We spend a lot of evening sitting there drinking. It is a good place for celebrity sitings too. And Le Cirque resturant is near by.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/Bellagio.jpg

Here is my obsession in Vegas. I have to watch the fountains at least once a day. They are the perfect balance of music and movement.

Our last vacation was Key West. Our flights were all delayed by several hours. The door fell off of the plane going from Key West to Miami. I was stuck there an extra night without clean underpants which did not make me feel better. I had to spend the night at a Days Inn and the food voucher was only good at Denny's. Oh, and I had to spend most of my brithday stuck at the airport in Miami trying to get home to Pittsburgh which was covered in snow when we landed. (I had on flip flops and a sundress because they were the only clean things that I had.)

I'm hanging out with one of Hemingway's cats. Hemingway's house is abig attraction there. As a teacher I feel obligated ot go to **** tourist sites like Hemingways house to learn from it. Here I learned if you inbred cats long enough they would get 6 toes.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/Laceyandcat.jpg

The view from the bedroom rocked though. I could handle waking up to this every morning.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/LaceyandSeanonthebalconyoutsideHemi.jpg

Oh, and Key West is overrun by wild chickens. Do not reread that sentence, yes I said chickens. And they peck so don't try to play with them. But they have a chicken rescue that you can visit. I couldn't resist, I had to play with them.

So I just checked my email. My fsil/bm, Jennie is making the direction and map cards for our wedding invitations. Doing it this way saved us several hundred dollars. This is good. Upon seeing the invitations she and I felt taht a pearl colored paper woul dbe great because it would match the boarder on my invites. This is the same paper that we used for the little information cards in our save the dates that we sent out. She was to buy the paper today and print the cards out at work this afternoon. Then she was going to use the paper cutter there so they had a nice straight edge. So anyway back on track. This pearl paper has been in the store forever. She used it last year for her sister's shower invites. She used it this past summer for my save the dates. They always have this paper. Not anymore they don't. They no longer carry that paper. I am so mad right now! I know that it isn't anyone's fault but now I am stuck with blah linen paper and I want my damn pearl paper! :realmad: I have no idea why I am so p.o.'d about this but I really am. I want to drive over to Squirrel Hill after work and beat someone in the stationary store. :chair: How dare they no longer carry the paper that I want. Don't they know who the hell I am? I am Lacey, a bride, and I want my damn pearl paper!

There is only one person who can make me feel better right now. And I can't even turn on the radio to listen to him because the kids are watching a movie! :bbfrown:

I don't know if she asked to be honest. If I know Jen, she really pressed them to find it. It isn't even that big of a deal. Do you ever remember what paper someone's map card is printed on? I know that I never do. Six months ago if you woul dhave given me this situation I would would have given this advice, "It is freaking paper, get over it. No one is going ot remember." Anymore I go from completely happy to ready to tear someone's head off in the blink of an eye. I think I might be under a tad of stress!

Well I think it is safe to say that I am obsessed with paper. I just spend $500 on more freaking paper products. I swear this wedding is responsible for at least an acre or two of deforestation.

I ordered our programs. They will be like this, white but instead of white ribbon they will have back satin ribbon.
http://www.polkadotdesign.com/catalog/Polka_Dot_Weddings/PD-SQFI

Then I came up with a great idea. Instead of ordering menu cards AND the cards to print out about the favors seperately, I ordered invitation sets. The invitation itself will be the menu and the response card will be the favor card. Smart thinking! I am just stuck with 250 response card envelopes. Let's face it, those will never get used. But oh well. DOing it this way I also found printable place cards that match. How cool is that. DOing them myself I can insure they all match with font and color too. Sometimes I fall in love with m own brillance.

I got a call that my shoes are in. That is so exciting. I'll pick them up Monday. Sadly, I have to me in town to take my mom and grandma to the funeral home because a cousin passed away. Not just a cousin by my mother's best friend'd mom. I also grew up and now work with her granddaughter.

I have been feeling so emotionally blah lately. I don't know what is wrong with me. I don't think it is stress because I have been way more stressed than this before. Maybe it is a combination of the wedding, working, the fact that my TMJ is acting up which means my jaw/head/neck are always hurting. I don't know. But I just feel bad. I did $300 of retail therapy at Banana Republic and Kaufmann's yesterday and I don't feel any better.

Speaking of my retail therapy, I got some great deals. I have to go back to the mall today though. (YUCK, its Saturday). My one shirt (that I tried on) at Banana Republic actually has a hole in the seam under the arm. No biggie there, it is as much my fault as anyones. Besides they had a couple of them. But I went to the CLinique counter at Kaufmann's to get soap and eye liner. Well I got the rgional Kaufmann's Clinique manager. I told her what I needed and she was all like, "Oh no you don't look like you need that at all. You need to sit down so we can redo your skin profile and get you in the right products." Well I explained that I had a very long day at work, I really just wanted my soap and eye liner because I still had to go to the grocery store, come home, and do things around the house. She kept insisting. So I asked her what I looked like I needed in. She wanted to put me in the oily skin line. That is ridiculous because I have very dry skin the only time I get oily is in my Tzone in the summer if I have really been exerting myself. I expalined that I didn't think that was right, can I just get my regular soap and my eye liner. (It is a dark earthy khaki green color) So she was like, "Ok it's your choice although you aren't getting the proper benefits of our products." Whatever lady, my skin is so dry sometime that it flakes off, I don't think oily is for me. So I get home and what do I have, soap for oily skin, I didn't realize it until I opened it (but they WILL take it back regardless) and purple eye liner. I am not at all happy about that!

OH and can someone explain why swimsuits are so darn expensive? I saw one while shopping yesterday. It was just a plain black one piece swimsuit with an underwire. Nothing too special about it. The only thing was a little runched wrap around waist. I liked it. It was simple. Looked nice. So I decided to try it on. I get into the fitting room and look at the tag, $129.00. WTF! Ther ei no way that there is more than $25 of material and labor in that thing. Who do swimsuit makers think that they are?

We got our hotel room booked for the wedding night. We booked a suite in the hotel that our guetss are staying at. This way, the party can continue. I can't wait. It is a three room suite with seperate bedroom and parlor. The parlor can accomidate up to 30 people. I will meet with catering sales closer to the wedding date to see what we can work out for some snacks and "beverages".

So I went shopping again today. Sean encourages it. "I am going into the office, why don't you go to the mall after you drop the dogs off to get out of the house?" If he would stop suggesting it, I would stop following advice. To be honest the last place in the world I would want to be is a mall on a Saturday. Although I did have a could of returns/exchanges from yesterdays trip.

I have decided to start getting osme nice new clothes for the honeymoon. I have a few things that I like and I have picked up some new stuff.

Right now I have:
Outfit #1: (day)
Turquoise terry cloth skort set. I love it, it is a little mini skirt with attached shorts. Then it has a litte short sleeve zip up hoodie. I wear a plain white tank top or tshirt under it. That is definately a must take because it is so cool and comfortable. A great wear for sightseeing. I just have to remember to pick up some comfy flip flops to wear with it.

Outfit#2: (evening)
Ivory pants with a dark charcoal pin stripe through them. Then a little tie back flutter sleeve cotton shirt with beading and embroidery. It is so comfortable and very dressy so it shoul dbe good for dinner and drinks. I got it last year to wear in Key West for a business dinner Sean had to go to. I have ivory dress sandals that are super comfortable too.

Outfit #3 (evening)
My absolute favorite black cocktail dress. I never leave home without it. It is light, easy to accesorize, comfortable, and always looks great. It is a and sleeveless with a faux wrap waist. Since it is black I can wear any shoes and jewelery with it. I have to remember to pack a nice wrap though. I never wear that dress and don't end up freezing.

Outfit #4 (evening)
This is a new one that I got today. I saw it and thought it was cute. I saw the price tag and thought I should reconsider. Then I tried it on and was really kicking myself. But the sales girl was right, how many honeymoons does one get. Besides, if I dress it down I can actually wear it to work or wear it again to things like weddings. I actually like this one so much I might wear it to my showers. It is an ivory linen skirt (fully lined) that has a flared hem. It has a matching belt with adorabe vintage looking rhinestone buckle. The top is a very sheer silk pink flutter sleeve top with ruffles cascading down the front. It has a pale pink camisole to wear under it. Bonus:I get a second wear out of the ivory shoes.

Outfit #5 (traveling)
This is a great traveling outfit because it is comfortable and has layers. I picked up a light grey and white striped tissue weight tshirt. To wear over top of it I got a light weight silk and cotton blend long sleeve knit like tshirt/sweater. It is so soft I just want to wrap myself in it. (I paid $18 on the clearance rack at Banana Republic for it too. - That ranks in a the same great deal catagory as the black dress.) With jeans and my black mocassins it should make for a nice in flight outfit.

By my count I need:
2 traveling outfits (1 down)
4 day outfits (1 down)
5 night outfits (3 down)
1-2 swimsuits/coverups (0 down)

The trousseau is the greatest idea the French ever came up with! I was explaining it to Sean and he laughed. He wanted to know how this differed from any other time.

Old Navy has some nice bathing suits. There is a really nice one peice black one with a halter like top. I think they're about $30.00
They also had some tankini ones in funky patterns. :D
Thanks Jen, I checked those out and they are cute. My only issue is that I absolutely must have an underwire for support. With a C/D cup there is no way around it. But I was talking to my dad about it and he reminded me of something. His new girlfried (who is just a doll by the way) is a price manager at JC Penney's. This means she gets a kick butt discount. Normally I am not a fan of Penney's. But a swimsuit is something that I won't get a lot of wear out of. We live in Pittsburgh so there aren't any beaches close. We or none of our friends own a pool. My family all have swimming pools but they live too far away to make a trip to swim. And I would rather die before use a public swimming pool. So my dad suggested that I just email him a swimsuit for Sean and I and some coverups and he will just have his friend get them for us and he will cover her costs. How great is that? Yeah cute swimsuit and coordinating coverups!

Oh Lacey........I dont even want to think about getting a new swimsuit this year.......but Im like you the C/D needing the underwire thing. Why are they so damn hard to find? But I would swim in a t-shirt and my underwear before I spent that much on one!!! That is ridiculous!
Seeing your honeymoon outfits just reminde me that I need some new stuff for mine.......even if I am going fishing!
Everything looks great Lacey! You have done a wonderful job!!!

I know it is really insane! There is no way they actually cost that much money to make. Retailers know that we are stuck paying for them because let's face it, they are something in our culture that you HAVE to have. I say we petition for more nude beaches like they have in Europe. That should force the swimsuit price down. It is all basic supply and demand economics. There is no longer a demand but a big supply the prices drop. We stock up on them then!

Actually check out JCPenney's website. They have some nice ones with underwires. I didn't see any in the stores. Plus they are always having stuff on sale with additional savings coupons. If you want some cute stuff to wear on the honeymoon, Old Navy has some adorable things. Their pants and skirts never fit me right because after puberty you get hips and their clothes are mostly made for teenage girls. But I LOVE their little tshirts and they are only like $7.50 each if you buy more than one. I like them way better than the more expensive ones at Gap and JCrew. Plus the colors are always more summery looking. And their flip flops are great and very comfortable too. They are only a couple of dollars each a pair too. I was checking out Target and they have some nice stuff too.

My shoes are here and thye look fabulous!!!! I love them. But the lady suggested that I order them a half size larger since they run small, they are however huge. I probably could have gone down a half size really. But that is okay because I ordered some heavy duty padding and insoles for them. Besides I will probably change into something else after the recption gets started. Tomorrow after work I am goign to stop an dget some black satin ribbon for them. They have pink chiffon now. When I get that changed I'll get a picture up. I need to get my honeymoon clothes on here too so I can keep track of what I have and what I need, too.

I hate doing this. I had to tell my mother to shove it again. I get so sick of doing that. She is wonderful for a really long time then she has a day where she feels that she needs to be in control of everything. I called to tell her that I picked up the black ribbon for my shoes after work and they look adorable! She doesn't say a word. Then she says, "Well did you let Sean see them last night?" I answer that of course I did. I carried the shoes in, tried them one, and he was in the room. It isn't like I was going ot be clandestine about shoes. So she turns raving mad yelling about what a spoiled brat I am because I did that to spite her. She specifically told me that I wasn'st allowed to show Sean anything that I was going to be wearing. I totally ruined the wedding by doing that. And I am incredibly mean to her because I won't do what she tells me to. So I had to set her straight by informing her that first, I am almost 27 years old. It has been many years since I hav ebene obligated to listen to what I was told by her. Secondly, even when I was obligated to listen to her, I didn't. I have always done exactly what I wanted to in my way. As a little kid if you told me what I had to do I would tell you what to go and do with yourself. I don't take orders from anyone. Thirdly, this is MY wedding and no on elses (well Seans too but let's face facts, shall we...) if I want to plaster my shoes, tiara, veil, dresss, and freaking underpants on every billboard in Pittsburgh, I will. And I will enjoy doing it to. She has had 4 weddings to do things her way in. She needs to pull out of mine. Maybe if she spent less time worrying about stupid things like someone seeing my shoes and more times picking better life partners and putting work into her relationships we could have scaled that number back some! I hate when she does this!

Lacey - I'm sure that you didn't mean to make me *giggle and snort* when you said you could post your wedding outfit - down to the underpants - on a billboard.

I'm sorry that your mom is being a pain in the arse. Sounds kind of stupid for her to flip out over shoes anyways. Now, if you were frolicking around in your wedding gown in the living room on a daily basis...ok, so maybe she'd have a point.

It's amazing how controlling a mom can try to be when you haven't been under their control for so long.

Oh I forgot, the UPS guy visitied today. I dind't find the package until I took the garbage out awhile ago. Anyway, our programs arrived. I have to print them myself but the covers, paper, and ribbons are all here. I am a little disappointed at how small they are, but oh well, I'll get over it. As soon as we solidify the ceremony and music I can print them and then you all can see them. Sine I have to put them together myself, who is is ocming over to help? I forgot to mention that I am working on invitations today, again. When Jennie comes over to watch Harry Potter she is bringing the direction cards that she made with her. So she and will be stuffing those and double checking to make sure all the encolsures are in the envelopes. Then down the line they will go to Sean who will seal them. (Don't worry about toxic glue, I bought him an envelope moistener.) Tomorrow I am going to do the wax seals. I know that I promised you all a pictures of those a long time ago. I promise I'll get that out when I get the seals started. After that, it is final. There is no changing it. They get mailed on April 8. Or, as Sean and I call it, D-Day.

By the way, funny story. I was stuffing the envelopes a couple weeks ago. I noticed we had a typo on the reception card, beginning is spelled begining. I had a half dozen people proof that for me too including an English teacher where I worked. No one caught it. I hopt it stays that way because I am not paying $100+ to order new reception cards over one silly "n"

I would say that you need to reprint the direction cards. East and west are a bit different. If the directions say one thing and the map another people will get confused.

In a way I am hoping that people do have black teeth. It will make my mother and more importantly my fmil absolutely neurotic. I find pervert joy in that idea. I personally don't like cake icing so I always eat around it...oearly whites I shall have.

Thanks for reading. I'll be getting dress pictures on the March 25 when I go in for my first fitting.

Black teeth!! That's rich!! We're just going to have ivory buttercream and lavender roses.... so at worst, they'll be lanender teeth. But I don't think that anyone will actually try to eat the sugarpaste roses.

I can't wait for dress pictures! And that does sound unfortuante about the misprint, but I doubt that anyone will notice.... And Jen, please reprint them! You'll have a lot of really confused (and possibly late) people on your hands. Just my advice there.

At this point we just have to laugh about the small misprint on the invite. It is on the reception card. It isn't a "key" word. And the half dozen people I had proof read the set of invites didn't catch it. So I doubt toom nay people will notice. If they do, they can just have a laugh at our expense. It won't be the first nor the last time that happens.

MY INVITES ARE DONE!!!!! They are addressed, stuffed, sealed, and have the wax in place. I am ready to take one to the post office on Saturday and get it weighed so I can buy the stamps!!!!

I have to say that addressing them and doing the inner envelopes wasn't that bad. I figured that would be the worst part. Stuffing them wasn't so bad either. But putting the inners in the outters and then sealing them....a whole other story. I was almost in tears last night doing that. I did the wax seals all day today. It wasn't too bad either. It was just time consuming and the first dozen or so came out looking like ****. Sean can definately help me to put the stamps on them. Then on April 8 they get mailed! I am so excited, at that moment, it is official, no turning back, I'll be getting married. Plus to add to the excitment of the day that is our cake tasting as well.

Ooooh!!! Excitement!! I wonder when we'll have to send ours off... Eeh, it'll get done in time. ;)

I'm thinking about ordering this stuff www.fauxwax.com because it is supposed to hold up better in the mail. But, it's bausically colored glue gun sticks, so it'll probably be more expensive to mail. I think that a little pressed flower sticker will suffice.

Thanks about the music. I have really been working hard on it. I need to burn everything onto a cd to make sure the order sounds right then doublt check that my string players can pull it all off, at least for teh ceremony. I don't see anything I picked being an issue. The majority of it is all classical repitoire. Cranes is a great site, expensive but great. I love good staionery though. Every time we go to New York I have to stop into their main store and pick something up. I love having note cards sitting around when I need them.

Lacey, that's EXACTLY what I'm doing. I'm going to have a CD with each segment of the ceremony on it, and then A CD with all of the important reception songs on it (1st dance, cake cutting, etc.).. My little brother is going to play DJ and make sure the right song plays at the right time.. Though, I'm kind of scared to have him handle it. The poor kid has ADD like nobody's business. Maybe I'll have Carlo's GM do it. The one I'm thinking of runs a sound board for a living. He should be able to pull it off. :p

So, what songs are which in the ceremony? I can never get it straight, with all of the 'cessionals... Oy, I have a feling I'm going to mess it all up!! ;)

I was just burning the cd so I could get a feel of how it sounds. I have strings coming in to play. Live instrumental music wasn't a negotiable item for me. Either it was there or I wouldn't be. I shopped around and got a really good deal. It wasn't as good as the deal. I found a group this past summer out of Carnegie Mellon University which has a great music program in the area. They wanted $100 a person plus $25 in gas money to the driver if I would write them a letter of recommendation and give them a copy of the video that they were playing on. Not to bad. Except when I called them back and called them back and called them back and no one would return my calls. So now I am paying a little bit more than that but I am going through a local talent agent so I KNOW they will showing up.

Your thank you notes are soooo cute! And your flowergirls will love the locket!!

Ruffles is so cute too. My Sammy (the cat) will hop up on the chair if I'm using the laptop and get up for a second. He stares at it, like he's working on whatever it was I was doing - I've even seen him pawing at the mouse pad thing.......in reality, he is watching the screen saver bounce around.

Well we are meeting with out minister today to plan the ceremony and go over a few things. This should be great. Sean hasn't done ANY of the reading he was supposed to do from the material that the minister sent us over the summer! I understand that he is busy and all, so am I. But maybe instead of watching tv for 4 hours every night he could have read over the three pamphlets that were sent to our house?

Then last night he comes home and I am in bed with a migraine. So what does he do? He turns on the light and the television in the bedroom. After I get that straightened around while I am lying there in blinding pain I ask him to order something for dinner. I don't care what. I just know that if sometimes I can get my blood sugar up the pain will lighten. This is a little after 6 that I ask. He order pizza at 745. That is right, I laid there for almost 2 hours! Then while he is waiting for the pizza to come he winds Ruffles and Ellie up. So they are in the kitchen and living room running around on the hardwood floors chasing each other and barking. They have a really loud bark to be as little as they are too. Finally I eat, in the kitchen after I go down and turn off all the lights and mute the television myself. The pizza didn't help. And the rest of the night I laid in bed listening to the dogs, barking, the NCAA tournament, and then Ruffles crying because he and Ellie went downstairs and left her in the kitchen. Ruffles doesn't like walking up and down the kitchen steps so you have to stand there with her while she does it. The steps are really high for those little legs. Now I can't stand for Ruffles to be upset so I had to yell down for him to fix that problem too.

You know, today might not be the best day to have premarital counseling. Sean is usually so thoughtful I wish I knew what :censored: they replaced him with when the alines obviously snatched him up on the way home from work last night.

Sean and I met with the minister today. It was nice. The minister is actually my cousin. I haven't seen him since he did my grandpa's funeral about 12 years ago. But we went over a few things. We decided on a very short ceremony. He doesn't really care what we do or anything like that as long as we let him do a short opening prayer and include swearing to God about our union. That is pretty standard stuff. He doesn't care if we do our own vows or skip Biblical readings for something more "us". He just says that he wants us to have a nice wedding. I can appreicate that. He is one of the few somedays.

He also mentioned that since Sean was the man he was supposed to be the head of the home according ot the Bible. But since me refering to Sean or getting his permission on anything would probably cause Sean to die of shock, maybe we could lighten up some on that part. The only time I have to refer to Sean as teh head of the home is when I'm not 100% sure things are going to work out in the situation. Then I have someone to pin the blame on

I'm going shopping today. It seems like I say that alot. But, a lot of the things I want happen to be on sale. So, I see no reason not to go and get them. I'll be hitting JCrew this afternoon. I FINALLY sound shorts last night that weren't so low in the waist that I looked like a plumber and were so short that it was indecent. But they also were the high waisted, pleated, knee length, old lady shorts either. Hopefully they fit! If not I can just return them to the Gap.

I might treat myself to a trip to Whole Foods too. I usually don't shop there because the bigger grocery store carries all the same stuff anymore. Plus they are a little cheaper. But the entire Whole Foods experience is just so much nicer than Giant Eagle, our local chain.

Oh, and after working at the same job forever it seems, my daddy is retiring Friday. Of course he won't let us take him out to celebrate or anything like that. So I am going to have to ambush him with the help of his new girlfriend. I have her phone number around here someplace! Now if I could just convince him to retire out of the reserves I would feel a lot better.

I'm excited your dresses are in. Even though you aren't wearing them, it's still exciting! I just looked back in your journal (since I wasn't here when you posted the pictures) I love them! I agree with picking something they can wear again. I am letting my BM's pick whatever dress they want as long as it is in my color.

FMIL emailed. She got her dress. It is pale pink and flowy. That is all I know. That is all I need to know. I am just happy she is wearing a dress. At this point I don't care if someone shows up naked!

I really think the naked guests could add a certain something that a rgular wedding just wouldn't be able to capture. You know what I mean. There would jsut be something special about that. Of course I am so close to falling over the edge of sanity, it is scary. I might end up being the naked one. That would teac my mother to torture anyone over their wedding dress the way that she did to me. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, thank you.

Your shower invites are great!

I said the same thing when Joe told me that his mom found a blue dress that she wants to wear to the wedding - "I don't care what she wears, she can come naked if she wants to."

My mom told me that she had half a mind to show up naked. I told her that was fine, but I had already paid for a corsage and she was going to have to pin it on somewhere.
