Since we're paring down (a lot) and making it a more intamate, relaxed, casual, not to mention affordable, here's the new plan:

**I edited this post on December 06 to fill out my plans a bit. Inspired by CindySue's wedding plans**

Thinking about locations. I think we'll probably get married on 'Marriage Island'. It's supposed to be good luck, plus, it's beautiful:

Our ceremony will be in San Antonio TX, on marriage island

For the ceremony, no decoration is needed. It's on the riverwalk, so I don't know if we'd be allowed to anyway.

Officiant is Carlo's Dad.. So, he'd be coming anyway. Still working on the vows. Not sure what we'll do.

My bouquet will be hand tied lavender roses. I am ordering them from www.organicbouquets.com so that we can use them on the cake, too. I only need 2 dozen. 17 roses in my bouquet, 5 for the top of the cake, and 2 for corsages (my mom and his mom). I'm also ordering one dozen cream delight roses, so that I can use them for my hair, and for the cake.

My step-mom's mom is making my dress. She made all of her daughters. I've picked out a Lazaro dress that I really love. I'll most likely find a few patterns that I really like that are very similar, and send them all to her with my measurements. Since she lives in Arkansas, and I can't really travel to and fro, she's going to make it big, and I'm going to get it altered here.

This is the actual color that the dress will be:

My Jewelry is from www.bluenile.com for $60

The shoes I like are from www.stevemadden.com, but they don't have them currently. They'll be very similar, though.

I'm going to wear my hair like this, only without the flowers.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/rosesarestriped/whgallery019.jpg

Also using these pins to add a little, since I'm not wearing a necklace:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/rosesarestriped/h2_phpivory.gif

Carlo is going to wear a suit. He'll most likely pick it out himself.. Probably won't wear a tie. I've found a couple of looks that are acceptable, and as long as you can tell that he's the one that is getting married, it's okay by me.

We're having a family dinner afterward, with minimal decorations. For the tables, I'm thinking some candles and maybe some rose petals. Nothing more complicated than that..

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/rosesarestriped/lrg_votive5.jpg

I have to pare down the guest list. I'm thinking that family (and family-like-friends) only is a good idea. Maybe 25 people, including Carlo and I, total.

We will have dinner in a restaurant, I'm hoping to find a place that can put us in a different room for no extra cost. I will have the cake delivered to the restaurant, and pay the waiters a little extra to decorate the tables before we arrive. Here are places that I'm looking at:

http://www.biga.com/
http://www.hotelvalencia.com/r_eat.php
http://www.boudros.com/boudros/

I want the cake to be 3 layers, the top layer will be frozen for our anavarsary. It's a white cake with strawberry filling (I'm going to ask if they can dye it purple) and buttercream icing. I want little icing pearls around the base of each layer. Maybe some little sparkly sprinkes on the top of each layer. 5 lavender roses on the top, and cream delight roses around the bottom.

Music is still up in the air. I'm not sure if we're having dancing or not.

Photographer is a very good friend of mine. She's doing it for free, and I'm helping her with the cost of the film and paper. She's going to school to do it, so she can develop the pictures for free in the lab.

We're giving away Honey as a favor. Step Mom's Dad is a Bee keeper, so I'm ordering empty jars, and I'm designing the labels. She's going to put it all together, and bring them down. Pretty cool.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/rosesarestriped/MeanttoBee_300.jpg

We're skipping the bouquet toss and the garter toss. I just don't like them. So, I'm going to get my bouquet preserved, and framed.

Honeymoon is planned for Austin TX. We're going to stay at the Hotel San Jose, and there's a few restaurants that I want to hit up while we're there. Ausin has a lot of art and music, so we'll probably just eat, shop, relax, and have fun while we're there.

Hey that sounds like a great wedding. Your shoes look almost exactly like the ones I bought Friday to wear for my wedding except mine have a few rhinestones across the foot. I got mine for $15 and was so excited!

Carrie, it really does sound and look beautiful! My shoes are similar to yours, only their a champagne color. I got mine for twenty bucks, which made me happy. Finding the shoes was the hardest thing for me to do!

Hey, man, great minds tihnk alike! I saw the shoes, and I might not get that exact pair (they're $60) but something very similar.

I just want to get married to Carlo and eat something delicious afterward. That's all!! :)

Baby, splurge on the shoes. You will wear them again. Just go for it. They can be your one crazy wedding purchase.

 Weel, It doesn't take much convincing for me!!

Im not that much of a shoe person, but I did like that style. The ones I had looked at were $80 (I think) and I would have worn flip-flops before I spent that much on a pair of shoes I might not wear very much.
I found mine by accident....The agent I work for also does rental managment and I was delivering letters to a shopping center complex. I went in this store and was explaining to the lady what the letter was about and I saw them. I went home told my FH I was buying the shoes and went the next day and got them. They have a skinner heel than Im used to, but Ill practice walking around my house with them on so I can wear them on my wedding day without breaking my neck!

Hey, suggestion; hit up carnival, shoe warehouse, payless, all those places...that's a simple look and you may be able to find something cheaper than $60. The first shoes I looked at and absolutely fell in love with cost half as much as my dress! And there was barely any shoe there! I can't understand why shoes are so expensive.

CindySue

Oh......FYI Carrie, If at all possible wait until after you have the baby to buy your shoes. Sometime (not all the time) a womans foot will grow a bit during pregancy. With my 2nd child, I bought a new pair of shoes right before Christams in the size I had worn for years. About a week before i had my daughter on Jan 22nd, my new shoes were a little too tight. I was able to take them back and got a half size larger, and they fit perfect. I couldnt wear any of my shoes in the old size except for one very worn out pair. My doctor said that happens occassionally. I was shocked because I hadnt gained hardly any weight with her. It may not happen to you, but I would hate for you to splurge on your dream shoes now only to not be able to wear them this summer AND not be able to exchange them.

I LOVE the bracelet. Its gorgeous!

CarlosHoney
12-06-2005, 02:16 PM
Alright. Now I have to contact the restuarants and see what they can offer me. We haven't set a date yet, though.. So I'm not sure how definitive the estimates would be.

CindySue

When I can get all the pics uploaded....thats exactly how I was wanting my ideas to look. Its great with the visuals.....
I love the riverwalk ceremony. That is so awsome!!!! Its very beautiful.

CarlosHoney
12-06-2005, 02:34 PM
Thanks! I just hope that we can find a restaurant on the riverwalk, so that we don't have to space out the ceremony and the dinner. We'll probably have it right around 4:00, so that we can get dinner going by 5:00.

CindySue

It would be neat to find a restaurant with a patio. You could reserve the patio and have it like a reception without having to rent a banquet room. Most restaurants wouldnt charge you much if anything to reserve the patio.

CarlosHoney
12-06-2005, 02:49 PM
Yeah, I hope so!! But, on the riverwalk, they probably would charge you to reserve the patio. It's very expensive and busy there.. So, yeah, might end up costing us about $500 to have dinner afterward.

My dress, the favors, and 1/2 the dinner my dad is covering already.

The flowers, the cake, and 1/4 of the dinner my mom is covering.

Probably can get Carlo's Mom to help him with his suit, and if they could help with the rest of the dinner, I'd have all my bases covered.

CindySue

We are paying for everything ourselves so I have to stick to my budget pretty tight. But since I was able to go back to my original plan of simple but pretty, I have saved a lot!!!
Does it HAVE to be a restaurant on the riverwalk? Would they give discounts for it being a wedding dinner and/or a group?
Have you made any calls yet? If you make reservations soon, you can save money than if you wait closer to the date.....oh but you will have to corner Carlos and set a date.

CarlosHoney
12-06-2005, 03:14 PM
Yeah, the cornering will have to happen soon. He's just so... UGH!

We have talked a million times about the guinea pigs. They're just a lot of work, and upkeep. I told Carlo that we have to keep their cage really clean, and that with the baby coming, it's probably not relaistic to have a clean apartment, two cats, and two guinea pigs (not to mention the two of us and the baby). Well, after over a month of talking about it, and both sets of our parents asking about what we're doing with all the animals (more than once) last night he agreed that we should re-home them.

That's just a pet! Imagine the pleasure I have trying to talk about anything wedding or baby related! He's a wonderful guy, don't get me wrong, he's just not good at giving a direct reply to most any question.

CindySue
12-06-2005, 03:39 PM
Im glad I dont have that problem with Brian. If I ask him a point blank question he will give me a point blank answer. How if I dont he will skirt around it a little bit.
Now with my ex, though.......OMG......I could NEVER get him to decide or give his input on anything and then when I made the decision, he would gripe and gripe because it wasnt to his liking.

CarlosHoney
12-06-2005, 04:10 PM
Yeah, see this is what happens with us.. We talk, and I think that it's decided upon because he doesn't have much (or anything) to say. So, I work on the solution or plan, or whatever, and when it's time to carry through, he gets upset because he didn't agree.. It's frustrating.

It happens all the time too. Everything from going to the grocery store to getting rid of the guinea pigs.

CindySue

Tell him point blank that his silence is an automatic agreement with whatever you just said. That ought to get some response out of him.
Good Luck.

CarlosHoney
12-06-2005, 06:03 PM
True. I'll have to try that. I'm sure he won't remain quiet for long!

Carrie, you hace guinea pigs? I have 2 also. They are a pain to keep clean. Not to mention I am slightly allergic to the one (yes just one, go figure). It would probably be a good idea to re-home them with the baby. We are thinking about re-homing ours since the one has been bothering my allergies a lot. I just can't stand to say goodbye to them though!!

CarlosHoney
12-06-2005, 07:43 PM
Me either, but I just hate to keep them and not take care of them properly. We have found a wonderful home for them, with a few kids that will play with them and feed them parsley!

I just love this response!!! I think I am going to use it on Danny! He is terrible too about not giving me an answer!

CarlosHoney
12-07-2005, 08:41 AM
I tried it last night. I told him that if I time 30 seconds of silence after a question, with no indication that he's thinking about the question, it's automatically a yes.

Well, he said that he'll speak up more often! :D

HEY! ME TOO! Jason is SOOOOO quiet! Especially when it comes to wedding stuff. It's like...*knock, knock* anyone in there??? Great idea though...automatic agreement; gonna have to use that one.

CarlosHoney
12-07-2005, 09:49 AM
Yep. I ask, and no reply. It's frustrating. I can't get him to talk about setting a date (though he has told me around what time next year) and I can't get him to look/listen to my ideas. He thinks that I'm worrying too far in advance. It's not like it's years away!! We have to make our plans, or we're going to be getting married at the courthouse and eating afterward at McDonalds.

He just isn't on the same page right now.

Well Brian is involved in the planning of our. Hes the reason it took so long to finalize the colors. BUT......he came up with our colors himself...our birthstones....turquoise & opal. Every idea I come up with, I show to him and he will tell me yay or nay.
