Hey ladies!

I would love to try DIY favors. But I'm pretty clueless. I want to do something cute and inexpensive and something that will go with our fall/autumn theme.

If any of you have any suggestions and direction on how to do them, lol, I would appreciate it!!!

You could use pumpkins by getting miniture ones, cutting them out like you would for a jack o latern just without the face and putting a small arrangement of flowers in them. I'm a huge fan of votives so that's an easy DIY just buy the containers and the candles...I guess that isn't much of a DIY huh?? Sorry...I'm still thinking as I am typing...Let me take some time online her and get some ideas for you...Try www.michaels.com (http://www.michaels.com) maybe that might bring you some inspiration!

I'll check Michaels, that's a good idea.

I don't really want pumpkins, because I think that's more October and November. Since we are getting married in September, we are doing more leaves stuff.

Thanks!

You could do like a green and pink or your theme color bath salts in the little champage flutes.

Or make some leaf candles.

I am not sure but I saw a few girls talking about making their own candles

The Michaels site isn't working too well. For wedding favors, they just have these little boxes you make and put stuff in. Blah. Would be okay, but I didn't really see any fall decorated boxes. And I want something kind of unique. When I went to the general crafts for some other ideas, the site was down. So I'll have to check that out later.

I like the idea of making leaf candles. Our centerpieces are going to have silk leaves and water in a "bowl" and then will have a floating leaf candle on top. So having a leaf candle as a favor would be a great idea. I just don't know how expensive or complicated that would be to do.

I'll keep looking and if any of you come up with something else, just let me know! :)

As a side note, I don't know if you guys have heard of a Wish Box, but I saw it the other day and thought it was really cute. All you would have to do is get a box and decorate it however you want and then have a slot in the top. Then, you have little cards and the top of each card says "My Wish For You" and then the person writes in whatever they want and then signs it and drops in into the Wish Box. And when you get back from your honeymoon, you could go through all of them. I think that would make nice little keepsakes.

We used caramel apples. Of course though we got expensive ones because thats what my mom wanted, but you could always get the cheaper ones or make them yourselves.

Maple Leaf Candy - These adorable maple leaves are melt in your mouth sugar candies that are made from real maple syrup. They are generally sold in large packages of 50 or more so you can buy in bulk and then separate them into your own favor containers. Just three maple leaves is enough for a small parcel in tissue paper or in a satin pouch as shown. I got these at Vermont Country Store (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-1834119-10401304)http://www.ftjcfx.com/image-1834119-10401304 where you can buy them for cheap! They are tasty too, I put them in my tea. Check out their other cool candy too.

Leaf magnets, leaf key chains, leaf soaps, candles with leaves, tiny bottles shaped like leaves and more. Look around in stores and think outside the "wedding industry box" for cheap leaf items that could be favors. What are your colors? Did you want to use those in the favors?

Maybe mini loaves of bread with a leaf shaped tag on them.

Cocoa mix

We don't really have colors. LOL! The girls are going to be wearing a wine-ish color dress and then everything else, we are just incorporating fall colors. Like for the centerpieces and whatnot. The wine-ish color dress is a color that leaves turn in the fall, and that's kind of what we're going with. So yeah, after all of that explanation, lol, we could use those colors in the favors.

Basically, I'm just not looking to break the bank with favors.

Katie - did you have a caramel apple kit - I've seen those - or did you have them already made?

The Maple Leaf candy looked great. Just not sure if it's cost effective. If I gave each guest 3, I would need to get 300 of them and they come in boxes of 40 for $17. So that would be about $130 just for the candy and then I would have to get tulle or satin bags or something to put them in.

I'm not really sure, but I could probably find it again if you can't. I just went to Yahoo! and searched for fall wedding favors, most of the sites have the same things on them.

I also just found a site that has pails for cheap. They come in a dozen for $6, so $0.50 each. Other sites that I found them on were like $1 each pail. I think I might end up getting these, but I'm not sure yet. Oh, and they accept paypal, so you can use the money from posting on here!

I found the cocoa. Thanks!

I also like the idea of maple syrup in little bottles or something and apple butter. Too bad my grandparents aren't around anymore. They made some mean apple butter. LOL!

Glad to hear that you found some cheaper pails. Every little bit counts, that's for sure!

We bought ours already made. I said I wanted caramel apples but I said I didn't care if we bought them or made them and if we bought them where they were from, I just wanted caramel apples. And my mom insisted that we buy them from this one candy store, so we paid like $3 a caramel apple because my mom wanted to get them from this certain store.
