Everyone is asking me what my colors are, I have no idea. I don't want to have a color theme per se. My plan so far is to have lots and lots of candles. We are having an evening wedding and I love candles but do I have to have a color theme? It's an elgeant, intimate wedding, we are only having one person each stand up for us and only 50 or so guests.I told my MOH that she can chose whatever color she likes for her dress as long as it's not black.

No one says you have to have a color. And if your only have one person standing with you then it doesnt realy matter does it. It is your wedding and you can do it they way you want. Most people base their decorations according to the color the chose for the dresses. Waht are you planning for that? Maybe that is what people are asking.

I am pretty sure you pic colors so you will have a sort of theme.

For invitations, decorations, flowers, wedding favors, garters etc etc

yanno like to match everything

I would think that it would be difficult to have everything flow together if you don't have a color theme. Maybe I'm just not thinking creatively enough! Since you want to have a lot of candles and intimate elegance in the evening, maybe you could just have a canvas of whites and silvers against the dark night.

You could just do a bunch of white flowers.

I don't think you have to have a color theme. It sounds like you are going for a different theme all together. With the candles ect. maybe a more elegant theme. I am sure it will all turn out in the end. Just remember this is your wedding not someone else's so do things how you and FH want them done.

I agree with this. Your colors don't necessarily have to be "I'm using purple and blue." But since you want romantic, you could just say "We are using shades of whites and ivorys." Or something like that. People usually pick colors to just tie everything together so it doesn't look like it was just thrown together. I didn't necessarily had "colors", I had more of a theme. I didn't care about colors as long as it went with the fall theme we were doing...so my "colors" were mainly browns, tans and oranges.

I agree with what others has said that you don't have to say I'm having such and such of color. I really like your candle theme though. It sounds beautiful!! What I would say is to be careful not to use too many colors that it may look not put together. Maybe between what your attendant pics out to wear you can base some of that with your colors. I would also like to add I love monocramtic (different shades of just one color) or all white/ivory wedding scheme that is brought out by flowers and decorations!

You guys all have GREAT ideas! I really like the idea of monochromatic colors with the candles(shades of white and ivory) with other colors to pop out! It's a fall wedding in the Rocky Mts. I like the idea of using the flowers in fall colors to accent the candles. This is some of the best advice yet. I'm going to print this out and put it in my Wedding Planner book. THANKS ALL!!!!

I should clarify that I mean use the color of the flowers to pop out and just have the candles of monochromatic colors of white and ivory.

I love the idea of the candles! I would have to agree with going with whites and ivorys and either silver or gold. Elegant for sure!!

With those you could go with any color you could think of. Deep colors for fall and winter- softer colors for spring summer.
