View Full Version : Leg woes!
I'm sitting here with ice on my leg. I'm being a huge baby, but ice really can be painful. I hope that my leg heals up soon so I can start running again. I've lost 2 pounds this past month...and I know that those 2 pounds were my muscles that are starting to say "good bye" to me. Well, I just wanted to complain!

What happened? Are you injured or just sore?
I did a half marathon about a month ago and tore a ligament on the backside of my knee. I tried to run too soon after the marathon without realizing that I was injured so now I have to ice, wrap, elevate, and do strengthening exercises because I hurt it even worse. It's still inflamed and isn't healing as quickly as I'd like. I'm just getting discouraged not being able to run right now.

Oh that is terrible! I hope you heal properly! Just follow your doctor's orders and do the strengthening exercises and make sure you always warm up really well before progressing to more strenuous exercise levels. Are you cleared for other types of cardio like ellipticals or walking?
I really am trying to follow the strengthening routine to a "T". The whole reason that this happened was because some of my secondary muscles weren't strong enough so when they tried to compensate for my larger fatigued muscles the last 2 miles of the run, it just didn't work. I can walk regularly and I could do ellipticals...if I had access to a machine!

Your school doesn't have a fitness center?
Oh my goodness you know that I didn't even think of that. I'm never over in that area, but I know that there is a state of the art fitness center at UH. I will definately look into that this week. Thanks for the suggestion!

My husband tore something (don't remember if it was a ligament or tendon or what) in his arm a while back and the Dr said these things can take a year (or more in some cases) to fully heal.
Hope you get better soon!
