I havent made them yet, still collecting pieces.
Every year my cally pue sends me flowers for valentines days, Birthdays, and just because days. Well with the flowers I get these beautiful vases that just sit in my closet.
I was thinking put long stem flowers (not sure which ones) in them as the center pieces on each table with a lil story. For example:
This one would be
Calvin sent me 12 Long stem roses the day after Valentines day. These roses were in the vase located in the center of your table. Etc etc blah blah blah

That sounds SO sweet. It's really nice to have personal touches...those are the things that guests will always remember.

That would be a great idea. A special meaning behind your centerpieces. ;)

I think its a very cute idea, but also keep in mind that if the centerpieces are too tall people are going to want to move them to talk across the table :)

That is a great idea...you may want to incorp. some things you have done for him too so it isn't too "girly". IE: A picture of you at a game that you bought tickets for or you know...:eureka:

I love your idea! I think it is a great way for your guests to get to know you two a little more and to hear one of your sweet stories! Great idea!

I just pulled out one exactly like your's last night cause I was looking for something to put a tall pillar candle into - and it worked perfectly. The flame is in the neck of the vase so no worries about stuff catching on fire and it gives off such a nice glow.
So, am now thinking of going to a floral supply store and buying enough for my tables, buying pillar candles to match my colors, and dropping some glass stones down the sides to dress it all up, layer some stones around the bottom of the vase on the outside with some silk flower petals to dress it up. Very pretty and very very cheap.
Good luck !

Now, that is economical, sentimental and beautiful. Great Idea!

I actually had a couple of those laying around as well. Put a tall pillar candle in one and half filled with clear, gold, and navy stones, plus some glitter (I have to have something that sparkles)
I plan on placing these (probably use tall square vases found in another forum) with flower petals scattered on the tables, and glitter. I don't plan on using real petals, I'm going to snip the petals off of silk flowers from the dollar store.
My colors are blue and gold (navy theme) so am hoping it will lighten things up a bit as those colors can be really dark.
Combination of ideas from this group.
You gals are so very very helpful !

Great idea - sentimental - Why not print a card, or a small table tent maybe with picture of the two of you and a short statement why the vases have meaning - the guest will love it.
I agree, they may get in the way visually - but depending on how handy you are, you could elevate them - places that sell plants have stands - and the guests could see through them. The height would be dramatic on the tables and you place glass votives with tealights around the bottom of the stand.
Maybe colored glass in the bottom of the vases carrying through your color scheme. The tables don't have to match - in fact, there is more interest and originality if they don't. Mix it up!!
