I need help please ladies!
Do I need programs if my ceremony will only be about 10 min. No reading's, no singer's. Nothing special at all going on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I keep being told that I need programs, but I really don't know if it would just be a waste of money.
Thanks in advance!

No one needs programs, no matter how long the ceremony.

Thank you, then I will stick to my guns. And continue to tell them that it is a waste of money for our situation.

Let me guess, the person telling you they are a necessity is in the business of selling programs, am I right?

I agree with Melissa..you don't have to have programs, especially if you don't want them! Don't forget it is YOUR day! :bbconfused:

No, I wish you were though it would be so much easier to just quit ans. my phone. It's my FSIL and a mutual friend of me and my FH. This is just one of the many things that the two of them are telling me that I absolutely need, and I wasn't for sure if I did.
I have already gotten flak b/c i'm not having the 1. printed napkins, 2. The cake I chose is a small one, and then I am having a sheet cake in the back to feed the rest of the guests. 3. I am not having any music when I walk down the walk to the gazebo. 4. The shoes I chose b/c of my back problems (they say I will flip flop down the walk) 5. I am wearing my hair half up instead of an up-do. I will stop lol... There is lots that I have been fighting them over. This is just another thing to add to my list.

Well the programs are in the category of the other stuff you listed, they are basically extras. They are nice if you want to list all the players in the wedding and give an outline of the ceremony, but it's not a necessity. Most people throw them away after the ceremony, too.
It's kind of funny how weddings get out of control. The only things you really need are yourselves, an officiant and a license (and in some areas a witness). Rings may also be up there, but I think you are still legally married without them.

Exactly thank you for making me feel that I am right about this that I have been fighting for. Basically that is one of my reasons behind not having the programs. I know myself I throw them away after the day of the wedding. As for the napkins. Myself I can't see spending more money on napkins with our name's and date included on them for people to wipe their mouths on them. Granted some people do keep them. But a napkin I just don't see the logic in it. Sorry if I offended those who have chosen to buy these. If you want them go for it, but I just won't spend the extra $ on them.

I saw no point in personalized napkins either.
I have to agree with both of you on these things. I know that I throw them away when the day is over. I do like programs for weddings where I don't know all the people...just because it helps me feel more in the know. But I sure don't think of them as a necessity. It seems there is always someone thinking you need to do one more thing...or spend money on one more thing. How silly!!!

It is silly, I have a told people a couple of times. If you think I need that so much then you buy it. I'm not wasting my $ on it. Well that came back and bit me in the arse. My FMIL is buying the kissing bells with the poem's on them, after I told her NO!!!!!! bells and NO!!! ballons. I guess she heard the one about NO!!! ballons.
