American Idol fans??

I was just wondering if there are any American Idol Fans here...During Hollywood week when the pick they pick 12 gals and 12 guys to move on in the competition. This is when I pick the person I think will win it all!! I just thought it would be fun if there are any other American Idol fans here to pick they're favorite contestant within the next couple of weeks with me...

I dont like American Idol because of their audition process. I know it makes good TV but there are a lot of talented people that never get a chance because they let the bad people through to Randy, Paula, and Simon. People have to go through about 3 or 4 auditions before they go to Randy, Paula, and Simon. The producers (who conduct the first auditions) also tell the bad people how good they are and that they'll surely go to Hollywood.

I know I'm going to be the only one here, but I do not watch American Idol because of that.

I only watch the auditions they are soooo hilarious! Anything other than that I really dont watch it much.

I can hardly stand to watch anything prior to Hollywood week, just because too many good talented singers are told to go home during the Preliminary audtions. I don't like that either and I don't think a bunch of bad singers make good tv either. However, when it does come to the point where the viewers get to vote that's when I love the show!

I know that they do send in some bad people. But I'm quite sure that they don't let really good people go for the bad ones. Honestly. I've known several top finalists on AI and while they did mention that they would convince some of the horrible ones to go in and audition for the comic relief, they never gave me the impression that anyone with talent was passed on. We don't get to see all of the ones that make it to Hollywood until Hollywood Week. The crappy ones are televised because that's entertaining, but there are tons that make it to Hollywood that we didn't know anything about.

Well, I can't agree with you about turning away good singers to let the bad ones thru. I know someone personally who had this happen to them.

My FH's cousin is an extremly talented singer. She has one state competitions for her amazing talent. She has the entire package as far as looks, talent, and personality. She tried out for AI this year and was turned down. She auditioned with 3 other people and she said they picked one out fo every three people. The group ahead of her left an awesome singer go through. In her group there was her, an okay singer, and one guy that was so out of key it made her ears hurt. Well, the out of tone singer got through and the other two didn't, then the next goup turned down two mediocre singers and left a good one pass thru...Notice the pattern???
I find it rather suspicious that FH's cousin was paired with one tone deaf singer and an okay singer agianst her and they turned her down for someone that will boost ratings the first couple of weeks??? Definatly there are some great talents that are turned down.

I really wish they would..I understand that some good singers would be turned away but ya know it would be nice to make it a tougher competition and only the best of the best go thru!

Lol as I was reading this thread I was thinking about what AI really stands for!! lol. (Artificial insemination...what they do to cows! lol) Anywho, DH and I watched last season, if there is some good talent this year we may just watch, but I'm not holding my breath. Last season peed me off when Chris was sent packing, however I think it did more for his career then american idol could. THe only thing is, that he needs to go back to what he does best and that's rock !!! I hate this pop garbage he has put out! lol

me and Joe will occasionally watch it, but he doesn't get home until late now, and most of my evenings are consumed with taking care of the little guy, so I barely have time to watch any t.v. anymore! :whoa:

Great this will be soooo much fun...Tomorrow I will start another thread for American Idol Favorites. What we will do is pick one guy and one girl that we think will make it all the way after tonights show..
If you can't watch it tonight don't dismay you can catch up at anytime..
If you decide you want to change your pic that's okay too...
What you will have to do is explain why you are dropping your first pick and why the new person is your new one!
This will be fun to do as the season progresses and as well we can look back and see who picked this season's winner first!!!

I would totally agree that there is something wrong with Paula. I can't say that I've ever liked her. She just seems really off this year, esp during one of the audition episodes early on. I swear she was on something.

Did anyone catch the one episode I think it was last week? Paula and Randy said the one girl was not good then Simon said that he wanted to let her thru so they called her back and took her on to Hollywood? Anyone else think that was strange why they had bad things to say and all of a sudden it was like "wow you're awesome!."

yep I saw that. Randy and Paula said no that she had a lot to learn yet..Simon said he was going to give her a yes. She started to cry but walked graciously out of the room and after a little discussion they had Ryan hunt her down for a second audition and pushed her on thru..She's one of the one's I want to see how good she does this week. I'm routing for her just because 2 ot of 3 judges wanted to send her home packing!!

I thought she was really good and didn't understand why they were going to pass on her. I just thought it was strange how 2 can say no then all of a sudden it's "lets give her another try."
There were a couple people they should have done that for!
