Anna Nicole Smith Is Dead, Her Lawyer Says

Reality star Anna Nicole Smith (javascript:siteSearch('Anna Nicole Smith');) is dead, her lawyer told FOX News Thursday.

Smith was found unresponsive Thursday in her Hard Rock Hotel room in Hollywood, Fla., FOX affiliate WSVN is reporting.

Emergency responders performed CPR at the scene and a breathing apparatus was inserted in her throat, hotel officials told TMZ.com. Smith was immediately transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood just after 2 p.m. EST.

Local streets were closed off to rush Smith to the hospital, three miles away. Paramedics were seen pumping her chest as she was taken from the hotel.
Smith, 39, was hospitalized for a week last November with pneumonia. She was photographed at a boxing match at the Hard Rock Hotel last month.

In a lawsuit filed last Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Smith and TrimSpa Inc. were sued in a class-action lawsuit alleging their marketing of a weight-loss pill is false or misleading.

Smith, a former Playboy Playmate, has endorsed TrimSpa and is a spokeswoman.

Smith's 20-year-old son Daniel Smith died in his mother's hospital room in the Bahamas in September, three days after she gave birth to a baby girl, later named Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern.

Smith's current boyfriend and longtime lawyer Howard K. Stern, 38, says he is the father of Dannielynn. But Smith's ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead (javascript:siteSearch('Larry Birkhead');), 32, claims he's the father, and has sued to demand a paternity test.

Last month, a judge in the baby dispute temporarily blocked an order forcing her daughter to undergo paternity testing.

Ronald A. Rale, an attorney for Smith, questioned the legality of the test, saying Bahamian authorities needed to grant work permits before an American doctor could conduct the test.

The judge granted a stay pending a hearing which was supposed to take place this week.

Birkhead's attorney, Debra Opri, called Rale's request "a delay tactic." Birkhead sued in October to get a paternity test.

Anna Nicole Smith was born Vickie Lynn Hogan in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 27, 1968.

As a teenager, she worked at a fried chicken restaurant, and married Billy Smith at age 17 in 1985. The same year she had son Daniel Smith, but then divorced Billy and became a single mother in 1987.

Smith worked a string of minimum wage jobs before turning to stripping. She met oil mogul J. Howard Marshall II in 1991 in Houston at a nightclub, where he was a frequent patron and she worked as an exotic dancer.

Smith married Marshall, 63 years older than she, on June 27, 1994. She was 26, he was 89.

I read something somewhere that she had pneumonia and had surgery for a collapsed lung recently. Maybe this had something to do with her death.

That was last Nov. They are saying its possibly a cardiac problem. The 1st press conf is on right now.

Me too! I don't know the full story, (she is well known, but not THAT well known here if you know what i mean?)
But whoever her dad is, I hope he protects her in the future, as some stories are going to start now! They always do!

I just watched them take her body into the corroner's office. She was covered of course, but that is just so creepy to know that her body is in there.

There have been allegations of drug use for years, even as recent as during her pregnancy. SO I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out she died from some sort of overdose.

I would assume the recent ruling that she had to submit the child to a paternity test will stand. Then whoever the father is I would guess will get custody of her.

She was on tv last night and Mike and I were saying how awful she looked. Wierd!

Too bad for her little girl though, as messed up as she was. Hopefully they will leave the baby alone and not let her grow up in such a mess.

sad... even if she was a bit out there she was still a mom and a person . i think its either fishy.. or her son daniel was her only love and b-friend and sometimes when you have a bond like that and one passes you give up and die also.. but they're doing the autopsy today to try and put the rumors to rest... she never even got all the $$$. just sad.

Joe and I were talking about this last night. I wouldn't be suprised if it was a drug overdose. She's never been permitted to grieve the loss of her son and my guess is she was medicating herself with drugs, maybe alcohol, to try to take the pain away. My heart just breaks for her daughter.

The first thing all of us at work said, "What did she OD on?" I do feel bad for her baby. Like they said in one of the write ups online, she wanted to be like Marilyn and she died in a similar manner. I would like to here what the autopsy says was the cause of death.

Yeah. I heard this at work yesterday and then it was all over the news. I feel so bad for her little baby girl that will never know her mother. That's just sad. I just hope whoever the father is of this little girl is stepping up to the plate as her dad for the right reasons and not for the possibility of the baby getting the inheritance. I just checked recently today and the reports are the same that they are doing the autopsy today..Official results of autopsy's usually aren't release anywhere from 2-3 days....

I'm going to bet that her death had something to do with her drug use. It;s so sad. You would think she could at least stop for her unborn child, but I heard that even her daughter has alot of problems from the drug use during pregnancy! :petrified:

I have no idea! But I'd venture a guess that it takes that long to get toxicology tests back??

Some of the toxicology reports take longer to get the final results on. I just feel so bad for her little girl. It sure seems that they have had a rough time. The media hasn't exactly been kind to her or her "loved" ones. I think the whole thing is quite sad.

I actually keep waiting to here that her death was faked so that she can run off with her daughter and BF and get away from the DNA testing. Kinda like the things where everyone thought Elvis faked his own death, or Jim Morrison or Tupac. I am in disbelief still!

I haven't followed her life that closely, but what is/was the big deal about the paternity test? Swab the kid's mouth and just get it over with. Both the child and the father have a right to know, IMO. If you are having that much unprotected sex with multiple people in a relatively short time, a paternity test should be the least of your worries!

I agree, I don't know why she was so afraid of the pat. test. I mean it's just screaming that Howard K Stern is not the real father of the baby, I mean if he was, wouldn't she have wanted that proven!! I was watching some show and her lawyer was on it and they asked why she doesn't just do the test and all her lawyer did was skate around the question with legal jargin not even pertaining to the pat. test.

I mean those people need to wake up and realize that no matter how long you fight the paternity test, it will not change the DNA of the child!!!!

There was also something on Entertainment Tonight the night before she died about Howard K giving her son the methadone that ultimately killed him. Of course he denied it. I wonder if she (Anna Nicole) did actually commit suicide???? What a mess, I feel so bad for her baby girl.

I read this and I was like OMG this is just becoming insane!!

I feel so bad for her baby and I really hope she can live in peace with her father and whoever it is will not raise her to dislike her mother. The whole situation is awful, even if I didn't much care for her. I will be surprised if it isn't an overdose of some sort-suicide or not. I read that she had been fighting pneumonia (sp?), so she was probably mixing thoe meds. with depression meds and possibly alchohol. That is so upsetting to me b/c that is how my best friend died-infection of the blood, or accidental overdose due to mixing to many meds-and it is such a stupid thing to do. It's so unavoidable if people would just follow directions properly. It makes me so sad for her family.
