So today Matthew and I decided that we are going to start writing down everything that we eat.We figure that if we do this we will eat less because we know that if we eat something extra we have to write it down and share it with the other person. I decided I might as well share with you guys so I feel even more accountable.
I am like half an inch short of being 5 foot (hehe yes I am pretty short!) and weigh 135 lbs. While that doesn't sound like a lot, for my height that puts my BMI at like close to 25 I believe. I would like to get down to 110lbs, I would be happy with that.
So total I would like to lose 25lbs.
I am not going to try to lose that much before my May wedding as that is only three months away and I just don't feel healthy doing that. I would like to lose 10-15lbs if I can by May. Mostly though I want to be more healthy and not eat fries everyday (which is hard when you eat campus food!).
So those are my goals. Even if no one reads or responds to this journal because it may be boring lol I am going to try to remember to put my food into it as often as possible to keep myself on top of things. I have a word doc. that I am keeping it all on as well too.
So... Here goes!

Wednesday February 7, 2007
Breakfast: Oatmeal (brown sugar)
Lunch: Ham sandwich (plain), Banana, 100 calorie bag of popcorn
Dinner: Ravioli (can=440 calories)
Snack= 2 pieces of whole wheat toast, with homemade strawberry jam
Um, I will probably be reading it because I've started to do that too! If I have to write it down there is a very good chance that I will not eat it! Bravo to you for doing it too. I've been sending the list to my amazing weight loss buddy, but I don't know if I have the guts to post it! Hmmm maybe I'll be a copy cat and start putting it on here too. That would really make me behave. :p

Best wishes! Today your calorie intake is on the low side, I would guess only about 1400 calories. Just make sure you get enough veggies in there. Does that include all calories from liquids (juice, milk, pop, ect), too?

I actually only usually drink water, I only drink pop maybe once every 3-4 months. I do have juice every once in a while though.
It possibly was kinda low, but I didn't really find myself hungry other than meal times. -- living in a college apartment and eatting meals provided by a company (not a very good one at that) with not a lot of money to buy extra food, makes eatting healthy very hard. That is why one of my goals is to stay away from the fries lol those are the biggie for me!

Yeah I notice that writing things down, help me to not snatch that extra peice of cake from the lunch room at work lol

I know how tough it is to try to eat campus food and keep it healthy! We did have some food areas that had salad bars so that might be an option every once in a while.
Oh yeah navigating campus food is FUN! I was watching Rachael Ray's $40 a Day show one time and she was at some school up north that served wonderful small plates of organic foods for pretty cheap. I'm jealous! Atleast there's Vietnamese food on our campus now. And they have Amy's brand frozen food in the campus store. That makes me happy! Things are improving.

I wish you all the best with your weight loss and food journal. You are braver than me to post what you ate in one day. I would be embarrassed. I eat way to much. And I always don't eat healthy. I would get alot of BOOOO's if I posted what I ate in one day. lol....

So today was my worst day so far.... but all in all at least I did bring some leftovers, which I don't usually do!
I've never even been to a Texas Roadhouse. Interesting seeing as how I live in Texas and all! They're building one nearby and I'll have to try it as soon as it's open.

You are doing great by initially making some small changes in your normal eating habits. Small changes ease the adjustment.
I am not sure how much you are interested in observations or advice, but I have have noticed you tend to eat a lot of white carbs. Many of those can easily be replaced with fruits or whole grain carbs and sometimes even veggies. Eat the cheese fries and enjoy them, but instead of having a baked potato and mashed potatoes for the sides to your chicken opt for a side salad and steamed veggies.
Also your protein intake seems a little low on some days. Try to pair a serving of protein and a healthy carb during meals. The carbs burn faster and the protein will sustain you longer. Skim milk is a wonderful way to quickly and easily get extra protein into your diet, it is one of my main staples. If I am short on time I will frequently have a glass of milk and a small glass of 100% fruit juice (about 4 to 6 oz.) for a quick snack.
A moderately active person should have about .8 grams of protein for every kg of body weight. You weigh about 61 kg so you should be aiming for about 48 grams of protein everyday. Each gram of protein contains 4 calories so your total protein intake will equal about 195 calories.

Thanks for the advice, I am always up for advice. I know I know I do eat a lot of white carbs. I had one of those "I have been good for the last few days I can eat what I want here night". I didn't eat all of the potato, so that is kinda good lol.
If I drink milk it for sure is skim milk, I HATED milk as a child, so now skim milk is all I like lol. I do enjoy fruits and veggies, its just hard when I have to eat out of a dining hall to get ones that are enjoyable. I tend to grab a banana or something on the way out of the dining hall though.
Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.

Sunday:
Breakfast: Half a slice of banana nut bread
Lunch: Some tuna pasta thing lol, 4 french toast sticks L but with sugar free syrup, half a slice of roast and a few veggies
Dinner: Some cooked carrots, and some mashed potatoes and 1 chicken fajita. Ahhh I also had a small bowl of ice cream ( I know I know not good).
GOSH! I’m so embarrassed with what I have to tell you that I ate this weekend lol
Weekends just seem to be bad for me. But I guess if I try to make myself eating so much all at once I will get burned out, so I am trying to go gradually I guess. I am going to eat healthy again this week, and try to not be so unhealthy this weekend. And I’ll try to slip some protein in this week as Melissa suggested, especially since I work out 3 times a week.
Weekends are always worse for me than the week is. Don't feel bad...it happens to the best of us.

Monday February 12, 2007
Breakfast: Oatmeal
Lunch: Bagel w/ a tablespoon of butter, ¾ of a ham sandwich on whole oat bread with lettuce and no other condiments.
Dinner: Salad with a mix of regular lettuce and spinach and black olives, I also chose Fat Free Italian dressing instead of the normal creamy French. After the salad I had two small to medium pieces (so basically a large piece) of white spinach lasagna.
