Anyone besides me NOT like dress shopping? I have gone twice so far and I just don't like it much. The first place I went everythign was too expensive. The second place the consultant just couldn't understand that I wanted something very simple and inexpensive. I found 2 dresses I liked, but I'm not sure if either of them are the one. Plus they were priced just about what I wanted to spend. I'm going tomorrow to Davids and I'm determinted to figure something out. I know they have dresses for less the $500. I know everyone seems to be so excited about shopping for their dress and I kinda dread it. I just want to get it done and over with. It doesn't help that I go by myself cause the only person who's opinion I trust lives a couple 1000 miles away...lol. I just wanted to know if I was the only one who felt this way!

I hated dress shopping. My mother dragged me to dozens of stores on three states because I had to try on every dress she could find. I HAD to have the perfect dress according to her. What she doesn't understand is that the dress one of the lesser important things in the wedding to me. It ended up back firing on her though because after 3 months of dress shopping (going at least to 2 stores a week) I finally got so fed up and exhausted I just bought a dress that I didn't totally hate. I never tried on a dress and thought, "This is the one." I really wish I had gone shopping by myself and on my own terms.

I don't like dress shopping only for the fact that I have a budget to stick to and to see a dress that I love and then to see the price tag is gonna make it harder to find THE one. And that I don't really have any one to go with me. I have been looking on line almost every day for dresses. The one I did try on the ONE time I went dress shopping was way more then what I am willing to spend on a dress. I know what I want in a dress and I don't even know where to start do find it. It may have seem that I have started but I haven't really. Once I get my dress then I know the rest of the planning will go on with no problem. So I am with you guys when you say you don't enjoy it. I just want to have the dress and have no more worries about it.

I know how that can feel...looking at the price tag and saying nevermind. While I was lucky that my dress was reasonably priced, there's been a lot that I've thought about for the wedding and had to step back after looking at the price and say nevermind. I know it's really frustrating to come up with an alternative to what you really wanted simply because people have turned the art of your joyous day into a business to profit off of. That's America for you...

Do you know anyone who sews? Have you thought about making your gown? I saw some REALLY beautiful patterns when I was looking for my bms' dresses. It's much less expensive and you could get exactly what you want. When we couldn't afford something, I looked into making it first...DJ (made music CDs), caterer (make the food), BMs' dresses (making those too), florist (got one for the bouquets, but I'm making the decorations for the hall), the list could go on and on. Hope it helps and good luck...let us know what you decide on, we'd all LOVE to see it!

I have actually gotten into the mode of EVERYTHING I look at the first thought in my head "Hmmmmmm......how can i do this myself?"

That's how I'm getting...I saw some beautiful arrangements at a wedding show and the first thing I thought was...HEY! I can do that! Now I'm getting to where I don't want to spend extra money on anything...like the circles of irridescent cellophane for favors...I can spend half as much and cut them out myself...I'm constantly looking for a way to do what I see...

I rented bridal magazines from the library and scanned in pictures of what I liked; now I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to do it...lol.

Ok, I'm back from dress shopping. This was the least painful of the times. I found 2 dresses I really like. The one is near the top of my budget though. I thought about making may dress, but decided I'm going to try to make most everything else so I'll buy this. Plus I'm afraid I'd make it, put it on, and it would look horrible! So now to figure out which I like better. I'd like to pick and get it ordered, done and over with!!!!

Have you looked at Ebay? Maybe they have a dress on there that you tried on and loved but couldn't afford...I would check it out...I know someone on this board got her dress from Ebay.

I have tired E-bay. I found a couple of dresses I really like. But nothing like the one I tried on and fell in love with. I am still lookign though. There are alot of very beautiful gowns out there at a reasonable price. I am sure I will find one soon.
