Well...are you going with a medieval themed wedding or are you just choosing that dress because you love it? (I love it too!)

If you aren't going with a medieval theme, I would go with a ton of wildflowers with it. I don't mean just for you...with the natural colors, the flowers all over the place would be beautiful!

My wedding will be outdoors as well...as long as the weather holds up. Good luck...and you've come to the right spot for help with planning. I'm sorry your mother won't help out. Welcome to the family! :)

My mom isn't big into planning either. Are you the oldest? I am, and it's her way of feeling old. Feeling like her kids are adults, and she's having a mid-life crisis. She might think that you are a bit young to get married (Heck, I'm 21 and young for marriage!). I think that these issues will resolve themselves over time. When FH and I got together, she thought he was okay, but everyone in my family all said that it wouldn't last. Well, 3 years later, and with a baby on the way, they are still mumbling amongst themselves.

I think that dress is gorgeous!! I'd like to know what kind of wedding you want. Relaxed? Are you having a full reception? Or more of a party? I second the wildflowers idea. That would look really nataral with it. You could even use an arch for the ceremony with Ivy grown over it. What will your FH be wearing? Do you have ideas for your wedding party, or will you not have one?

Congrats on your engagement! And good luck planning!! You've come to the right place. All these ladies are very good with all this funky stuff. :D

I think it's strange that mother's either go one or another...my mother is totally fanatical about my wedding and I am 21 and her oldest...not counting my brother who is her step-child...maybe that helped warm her up.

I think what really gets my mother is that my fiance is 34 and definitely ready to be settling down, so she's happy that I've found a responsible guy who's going to take good care of me.

Anyways, back to your ideas...have you thought about colors for your wedding? Will they be green and gold to match the dress or something different?

Well first of all congratulations of your engagement. I'm sorry your Mother is not being supportive. I know where you're coming from because I was 19 when I got engaged, recently turned 20. Are you looking for shoes to match your dress? Try looking at http://www.myglassslippers.com. I sell some vintage style jewelry that would look great with that. If you have any questions or need more help, let me know.

Ok, thank you all so much for your help, *hugs everyone*
Alright, this is what i was thinking,
I would like to have my brides maids *threre are four of them* to be in a light, kind of Ivy green. I was thinking of more of a celtic wedding, because it kind of fits with my dress, Scott will be wearing his family's tartan, so it will have to match that as well, *ohmigawd, this is gonna be hard*
There is just going to be a party afterwards, a kind of Buffet style party, where instead of bringing me gifts, they can bring food instead, that way everyone can have something different, and it would also cut a bit of the budget down, *my guest list alone is almost two hundred people*.
 but that isnt even half of it, I dont know where I am going to get all of the flowers, but my mom is in the middle of growing an english garden, and she has this really nice kind of old style garden arbor and a bench that would look perfect, and with every thing in full bloom, it should be perfect. that is if she will let me use her garden. I really hope so.
I also would like to find a way to use her garden, because her garden is mostly dirt, so I might have to find a way to get either turf, or fake grass down so no one ruins their dresses, or their shoes *lol*..... But one thing i would like to know, is how I am going to convince my mom to accept this and help me out? I dont want her mad at me forever.
Thank you all for the help on planning my wedding.

When is the wedding? Perhaps she is just in shock right now and needs time to warm up to it? How old was she when she got married? My mom kept telling me she thought I was too young to get married at 22 when she herself got married when she was 19! Its funny how mom's and even dad's have a double standard when it comes to these things!!

And unless you have EVERY guest bring something for your "potluck" dinner you may easily run out of food VERY quickly! You do not want starving guests!

If there's somewhere else you can plant check out the link below (and search for some other garden rolls as well):

http://instantflowergarden.com/default.aspx

I sold something like this in high school and they bloom REALLY well. I can't grow a darn thing, so the fact that I had beautiful morning glories one year from this type of thing is really amazing. Even if you don't have a plot of land to plan on...maybe you could plant them around your house to have them grow and then pull your bouquets from there...or tie quite a few together for decorations on chairs/centerpieces etc.

Good luck! And the garden sounds beautiful! I was going to do a potluck type thing for my wedding, but my family nixed that idea...apparently they think I'm made of money...lol.

thatis sounds great you guys, I will check that out, but what else i want to know is what am I going to use for my Center pieces that is going to match the whole celtic theme? I like the Celtic Knot, but I am a bit wary of doing that5, it might offend someone
Alright, if ya can help, that would be great.;......
Thanks Guys, I think i am a bit too into this.

How would you offend someone with a Celtic knot?

Celtic knots mean forever...something that I think would fit very well in a wedding. You don't necessarily have to use the crosses...maybe a round candle holder or a couple of candles on a round mirror then place a round sheet of paper underneath it with a celtic knot that encircles the mirror/candle holder. Or, if you're going to have long tables, run a table runner with a long celtic knot down the center and place candles along it or something of the like.

I just briefly looked, so you may find something better, but here's a website that shows you how to draw knots if you can't find something...
http://www.wallace.net/knots/howto/

Good luck!

I have a thumb ring thats Celtic, and i have had several people say that is would make a very neat wedding band. i have even seen Celtic rings sold as wedding bands. You would have matching bands, but they would be "different" than the plain bands.

Yeah, I like the idea of the candle holder. THat's what I was thinking about when I read that post.

And I love the wedding band idea! You could even make some table runners that are green velvet with gold trim, and I'll bet you can find a celtic ribbon pattern type-thing to use as an edge on the runner. Tie it all together really nice.

I wanted to get celtic rings as our wedding bands, but if you get one that is a knot all the way around, you can't really resize it. So we got plain ones with little diamond chips in the front so we could resize them whenever we wanted/needed. I did get my fiance a celtic engagement ring though. He loves it and wears it all the time.
