I need some opinions on how to word our announcements. We won't be sending invitations, because we are going to Vegas, and only his parents and my sis and bro in law will be coming. So, we want to send out announcements. We are going to have a 'party' the week after we get back for all our family and friends that would have been attending the ceremony. I want it to say something about his parents annoucing the wedding (or marriage?) and also inviting those people to our 'party.' I have thought of a few things, but they just don't sound right at all, so I thought I would see what you all had to say!

Ok...I pulled this straight from a book for my own reference. The following is traditional wording:

Mr and Mrs. John Doe
proudly announce
the marriage of their daughter
Jane Doe
and
Mr. John Smith
on someday, the some number day of some month
some year
some place
some city, some state

We changed ours to include his parents. By the way, according to the book, only the day, the month, the city and the state are capitalized...none of the numbers are...hope this gives you a place to get started.

You could just use the wedding announcement without all of the day, time stuff (since they won't be coming) and add in a seperate card or peice of paper inviting them to the reception/celebration in honor of the marriage.
