Has anybody had any friends or family preside over the wedding as a minister? I'm thinking about ordaining my good friend as a minister with the universal life church, so he can have the legal authority to marry me and my wife. I would like to hear some stories if anybody has any. Thanks!!

Just make sure that the state you are in recognizes the ULC. Some states require ministers to register. Call or visit the web site of your county clerk of the court.

I have heard of this, but have never known anybody that has done it. It is possible, just make sure everything is legal as far as your state is concerned.

I have seen it done it done beautify- after all who knows you better then your friends or family, and not so nicely for the same reason. Make sure you both agree to what will happen during the ceremony and that it will be legally binding.

The other consideration is I have seen people take there vows less seriously because it was just Uncle Jon who did it, and he is not really a minister after all.

Will this make it more or less special for you? Only you and your sweetie can answer that.

Well my Best Friend in the entire world was ordained last year. He did it because thats what he feels his calling is. He will be the officiant at my wedding. Hes had others ask him, but he wants his 1st wedding to be mine.
