I dunno sweetie, I had some people give a gift at both. Most of the gifts we got at the shower were off the registry. The gifts at the wedding were crystal picture frames, candlesticks, things that were more keepsakes. We also got alot of monetary gifts in our cards at the wedding.

Most give a gift for each event. Ours was like Ellen's the shower gifts were mostly off the reg. and the wedding was mostly money.

Technically a gift at a wedding gift is not a "required." But at a shower they are required b/c the whole purpose of a shower is to "shower" the bride with things she will need to get a home started and showers are hosted by someone other than the bride.

While Melissa was posting I was checking out an article on etiquette on this!

Shower- gifts are required and registry information can be printed on invitations. Most gifts given at the shower are items off of the couple's registry.

Wedding day- A wedding gift is optional however no registry information is printed on invitations either. If items are purchased off of the registry they are generally sent directly to the couples' home for matter of convenience for the couple the day of the wedding. Guests generally have up to a year to send gifts.

Generally most people give cash or small keepsake items at weddings for genreal convenience and send bigger items directly to the couples' home. Since online purchasing is so popluar this makes this a highly likely option! Mostly guests tend to give money for gifts at most weddings.

I know this was a little more than what you asked for but I thought it may also help!!

That is pretty much what I was going to say.

Me, I will pretty much just get one gift. If I go to the shower and the wedding, I will bring a gift to the shower and a card or something little to the wedding.
