This has been a very stressful week! Last Friday (1-12-07) Joe was in a minor accident on Hwy. 30 where he works. His truck died in the middle of the road, and someone hit him in the rear, then Monday morning on my way to work I saw him on the side of the road (fortunately we sort of take the same route, except he's another 20 miles from my work), so I picked him up, he took my car, dropped me off at work, and left. Tuesday we took the truck to the shop and they said it was the Carburetor (sp?). So, we looked around all week to find somewhere that re-builds them, and people do, but it was very expensive like $500.00 was the cheapest we could find.
Yesterday Joe filled the truck up with gas, and by the end of the day (he stopped by my work) he was on E. (mind you he does drive about 80 miles a day to and from work) however it never should have been THAT bad!!
So, it just so happens he was tinkering with it at a gas station, and the mechanic from a local shop saw him, and told him to bring it by his shop...so we did, and he re-built the Carburetor, and said we have some vacuum lines loose, but it's only gonna cost like $250.00!!!!
(we also bought the re-build kit ourselves for $23.55 at O'Reilly's)
I am so excited !!! I just had to share with ya'll!

Hope evryone has a great weekend....I mean after tomorrow!!??:rain:

I am glad you are able to take care of it inexpensively! Did you spend the $500 on the carburetor and it wasn't fixed right the first time? If so, I would think you should get a refund.

Have a great weekend!

no, sorry it was a bit confusing. The first shop we took it to said that would be the charge (after they held it for two stinkin' days!). They couldn't re-build them there. If I had already spent the $500.00 they would be giving me more than a refund I can guarantee that!! :hothead: :chair: :boxing:

More bad news everybody....wjen Joe went to go pick-up the truck last night he drove it, and it is no better:bbcry: , so we WILL have to have the Carbureter (sp?) re-built. He hads to yet again take off work today for 1/2 day to wait for the truck so that I will have a car. They are gonna charge us $65.00/hr. labor!!! I'm soooo bummed! Money is so tight right now!!!
