I sent my FSIL an e-mail about a meal choice for her daughter and asked how their trip to Key West was over Christmas. In her response she tells me that all three of them are still trying to get over being sick (they have been sick since their return from Key West at the end of December) and that they might see us tomorrow. Ummmm....WHAT?
We still haven't done Christmas with them and there was some discussion of getting together this weekend - but I had no idea that they were still sick. Joe's mom has been sick since Christmas too. So, I would be locked up in the car with Joe's mom, hacking and stuff, for an hour, then we go to FSIL's home, where everyone is sick, and then I'll ride an hour back home with my hacking FMIL.
I just sent Joe an e-mail and told him that it's his choice, but if they're still sick, I'd rather now go. Five weeks until our wedding - I can't afford to be sick now. Why would they even suggest that? People exhaust me.

Ehhh yuck! Hoepfully she's beyond the contagous part so you guys don't get sick. But it still sucks to be stuck listening to someone hack all day.
Is there any way you can suggest that everyone wait until everyone is healthy again to get together so everyone can be healthy and at their best for the wedding day?
Good Luck! Get lots of vitamin C and wash your hands lots if you can't avoid getting together with everyone.

Just wait till you have your babies and visitors arrive sick and hacking.
You are right .... people just don't use their heads.
Mtl. is currently experiencing a flu epidemic. It's hospitals and old age homes are closing their doors to visitors. Heck, even a number of our professional hockey players have been out sick.
But ..... at work, the accts. person has come in to close the month and he says he has the flu. Then he went onto describe how he has been running back and forth to the john so much that his "touche" hurts. Duhhhhhh - WTF are you doing at work!!!!!!!!!!?????????

I hope your FH decides to stay home and the rest of the family can wait until everyone is feeling better to have the get together christmas. You and your FH don't need to be sick with your wedding so close to being here.

I hate that! I have clients who have called me and asked if the Attorney was available for an appointment whatever day it was - "I took a sick day today, I have to flu." I tell them to stay home....why would they even do that?
The thing that is the most irritating is, FH's 1.5 year old niece is sick, so her mother invites my sick FMIL over. Yep - let's prolong the poor little darlings sickness.
My guess is, we won't go, since I said I would rather not.

I would try to avoid it at all costs. If you can't get some hand sanitizer...keep your hands away from your face and you might want to get a tube of the "Airborne" stuff they sell at Wal-Mart...I took it right before I got preggers when my hubby was sick and so was everyone here at work and it helped. It's CHOCK full of vitamin C. If you take Vitamin C you have to take enough (and in advance) that it makes your stool soften (TMI!? Sorry but I'll say whatever I have to to help you stay well and not sick on your wedding day)!
Good luck!

My stool? You mean my bar stool? hahahahaha!!!!
That Airborne stuff rocks. I used that the last time I felt a cold coming on. I should pick up another container tonight, just in case.

I hate it when I go over to visit my family and then the whole house is sick and no one tells me :hothead: I have gotten sick a few times from this :snide:
I mentioned something about it to my mom once and she said "well, we're family" :bbeek: Yeah, but I don't live there and I don't want your germs! Then she said I should just live in a bubble
I tell people if I am sick and let them make their own choice whether they want to come see me or not.
Well good luck!

So do I!!!
We were just talking about this subject at work today. Last weekend our boss came to work all weekend sick. Now, you would think...being Respiratory Therapists...she would KNOW BETTER than to show up coughing, hacking, all the ****!! We were so mad. I told her that if I get it...she is in BIG trouble, and I will be staying home!!!

Oh I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to go either Stacey, maybe you all should reschedule until everyone is feeling better. I know when my neice and nephew are sick I always come home with whatever they have except far worse. It really is no fun.
