OK, I'm going to start a journal. I'm not sure how to do any of this, so if I make boo boos, let me know!

I'll start off with Bruce and I have been very good friends for about 10 or 12 years. Actually, he used to be my ex's best friend. The first time my ex left me..he was my rock. He kept telling me that I would be fine without him. Also, when the ex decided to come back, he was the one that talked me into taking him back. When the ex left the last time, I asked Bruce, "You going to talk me into taking him back again?" He said, "Not just NO, but **** NO!!" He was my rock this time, too. He told me one time after we started seeing each other that he had decided that if the ex was stupid enough to leave again, he was going to make me his own! The relationship that we had the whole time ex and I were married was just friendship. I know all this doesn't sound good...but it's how my life has worked out! He is the sweetest man on the face of the earth. He has known the good and the bad of my life for the last 10 years or so.

We are going to be married on the Capital City Queen. It will be a 2 hour cruise. Unfortunately, it only holds 48 people. We are really struggling with that because we won't be able to have any of our friends or co-workers with us at the ceremony.

The plan is to cruise around the island, then go up under the bridges and have our ceremony. I think it will be beautiful...providing the weather cooperates.

I'm trying to figure out what to use for music. I want to have something playing as we cruise to the bridges...then something for the ceremony, then something for the cruise back. I'll have to use a boom box..or something like that, maybe an IPod. We'll see.

I'm also trying to figure out decorations, or if I even want any. This is only the 3rd wedding that has been done on here, and they don't have any pics of the first 2.

I was going to post a pic...but I can't figure out how..so will wait for now.

My cousin is getting married the same day, so we are having our receptions together. She and I have always been close. She used to take vacations with my family when we were young. We also had our first children on the same day, just a couple hours apart. So when we both got engaged at about the same time, we decided we would do this together too.

Our ceremony will be at 1PM. Or, that is the time that we are docking. Sooo, we should be done about 3 or 3:30. Her ceremony is going to be at the Capital Rotunda at about 6PM. Then our reception is set for 7PM.

I don't think we're going to do the Father-Daughter Dance (my Dad is well and healthy, but hers isn't) or the Mother-Son Dance (my FH's Mom has passed). I am racking my brains to try to figure another way to honor our parents.

I guess I should tell about our proposal. A year ago, at Christmas, he gave me a Black Hills Gold ring and told me that it was my "I love you" ring. Now, this year, we've been talking about getting married, and had even set our date. He even called the ex and told him about it (they are still kind of friends).

A couple days before my birthday (12-13) I came home from work and had gone into the bedroom to change clothes. I always try to change right away so that I don't spread the germs around.

Anyway, I turn around and there is my sweetheart, down on his knees. I'm kind of confused and say, "What are you doing?" He says, "I love you more than words can say. I want to spend the rest of our lives together. Will you be my wife?" I start laughing and crying at the same time, and of course say yes, at least 100 times. He is soooo sweet.

It's a good thing there was no one else around...I had no clothes on!

What germs?

I love both your stories.

What type of music are you interested in?

Your ceremony sounds lovely. And a combined reception with your cousing, that is really unique!

Thank you for all the responses. We sure won't forget how that one happened. It was so cool to turn around and see a grown man on his knees.

I am a Respiratory Therapist at a small hospital about 30 miles from where I live, so I see many, many germs. I try really hard not to infect anyone at home with all that gunk!! LOL

I will add more later. My little granddaughter is here...and needing a nap (me too LOL)

I used to be a Respiratory Therapist as well. I would often come home and go straight to the shower and change so as not to expose my family to my clothes or myself. sometimes depending on the day I would actually strip down outside (we lived way out in the country) and place my clothes in a trash bag till laundry day.

what a great story of how you two met and have known each other for so long. Sounds like it was just meant to be, later in your life than sooner so it would work. YOur proposal story is cute, and a unforgetable one at that. All your plans sound wonderful and to share it with your cousin that is the best, it sounds like you two are as close as two family members can be and what better way to have your reception then together. I can't wait to see and hear more of your plans.

As for posting pic's you can always just upload your pic's into photobucket, and copy and paste the image into your journal or you can just click on the pic and press copy then paste the image into the journal as for links just type in the link to where you want us to see it will automatically underline the link if you use www.onewed's.com (http://www.onewed's.com) for an example. best of luck to you,

I will sometimes do that right inside the back door (I live in town, so better not do it outside LOL) when it's RSV season, especially when my oldest grandson lived with us as a baby. I sure didn't want to give him RSV. Then one of pediatrician told me that he was much more likely to get it at Walmart than he ever would from me. I still do it, though!!:)

Welcome, Ger to the boards!!! I love your ideas so far, sounds like a great way to celebrate your wedding, and to share it with a cousin that you are so close with is even more wonderful! Ok, now for the dress I have picked out. I am going to try to make it myself, because I want it tea length. I tried this one (but without the beading) when we went on my birthday vacation. It looked really nice.

Tough choice, both dresses are gorgeous!!!!

ger
01-12-2007, 09:55 PM
Thank you. I will have to see which one I think I can sew. Actually, it will be whether I think I can sew the lace jacket, the dress itself won't be difficult.

I need to take time to go to town and see what I can find for patterns and fabric. I hate shopping, so don't do it anymore than I have to. I am in town whenever I work..but at the end of a 12 or 14 hour shift I just want to come home...NOT go shopping! LOL

ger
01-12-2007, 10:00 PM
This is the pic I have found for the girls' dresses. I want them to be tea length also. I just don't want anyone tripping on a long hem and falling in the water. I know it would probably earn us $10,000, but not on this one day!

http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/th_bridesmaidsdresses.jpg

My MOH is my daughter, Darcy. My bridesmaids are my almost DIL, Kaiti, my oldest stepdaughter from my last marriage, Amanda, my youngest stepdaughter, Tabitha, and my FH's daughter, Shelisha. We shouldn't have so many kids, huh?

ladymelissa

Thank you for your kind replies. Yes, our bridesmaids are quite special to us. My FH just found his daughter after 10 years, and we wanted to include her. My 2 stepdaughters have thought of me as their Mom for the last 20 years, so I sure didn't want to leave them out. They adore my FH...they see how much better he is to me and how much my life has improved!! Hopefully seeing my life will help them pick better mates for themselves. I often worry about that.

What type of music are you interested in?
[quote]

We really like most kinds of music. I think the only thing I don't care for is Rap (and even some of that is OK). I'm thinking I want the music to be playing while we go around the island, and possible on the way back. Then I'm thinking I will need some kind of music during the ceremony.

I guess I'm having trouble picturing how some of this is going to happen, so I'm struggling with what my planning should be. I really want to have everything planned and taken care of so that I don't have to be frazzled the week before the wedding.

ger
01-17-2007, 07:14 PM
I am so struggling with the dress business! I have found the general dress I want and KNOW I could sew it in a matter of hours. But, do you think I can find a pattern? Heck NO!! I really don't want to spend a ton of money on a dress..when I have so many other things I would rather spend it on. And I know that it wouldn't take me much to make the dress. Oh, well, guess I need to keep looking.

ladymelissa
01-17-2007, 11:46 PM
Programs, favors, do you have to do the centerpieces or decorations? It sounds like you are pretty much on track.

For the music, if you like classical Vivaldi might be worth looking into. It's very elegant and will definitely put that feel to your event.

ger
01-18-2007, 12:41 AM
I'm not sure if I'm going to do programs, all the people at the ceremony will be family..so wasn't sure about that. I was going to talk to my cousin about favors and cameras tonite, and forgot all about it when I talked to her. The centerpieces and decorations is something that will be in the bid from the florist, if she ever gets it done. She has a broken down computer, so is struggling at the moment.

I will have to look at that music. Thank you so much for the suggestion. I sure am open to any others that may be out there!

ladymelissa
01-18-2007, 01:03 AM
What about rings?! I almost forgot!

ger
01-18-2007, 01:09 AM
Oh, yeah. I guess I probably forgot too...because we already have them. My engagement ring is part of a wedding set, and we ordered FH's at the same time. They are Black Hills Gold and just georgous. If I can find a pic, I will post it. When he gave me my ring, I was amazed at how pretty it is. He had shown me some in the catolog, but the pics sure didn't do the ring justice.

I love my ring and can't wait to add the wedding band to it. We need to send Bruce's back and get a bigger one...but that won't take long and the lady that orders for us wanted him to wait a week or so to make sure his hands aren't swollen. I need to get him back up there.

We sat down at the computer and registered at Walmart and JCPenney's yesterday. We actually had a good time doing it. FH was a little concerned about what some of the stuff cost, but I explained to him that some of the people (like my co-workers) will want to go together and get us a present.
We will also register at a store in our small (less than 800 people) town so that people that want to shop in town, can. When you live in a town as small as ours, shopping at home is important.

ger
01-26-2007, 02:04 AM
I finally called the florist again. She said she finally bought a new computer and was working on our quote. We only have 4 months, so I want all these things decided!!

I also emailed the photographer, and I guess she got a new email provider and had lost all the emails, etc. So now she is asking what we want, so she can make us a proposal. Yikes!!

I know I should just relax, and these things would get done...but I want them done yesterday!!

Your plans sound great also!

We are headed to the Black Hills for a mini vacation. It's so mini, it's just for tonite...but better than nothing. The stock show is out there this weekend and some friends have invited us to a cowboy party. Bruce and I fed cows for them for a couple of weeks over the holidays, so they are picking up the tab for the weekend. I'm so excited. It feels good to get out of town.

Oh, we had a lot of fun. We just got back, I'm at work, and my poor sweetie has to unload to vehicle. Evidently after we went to bed, they got a little rowdy and broke a chair..but the friends we're too surprised or upset about the deal. They had lots of great food, plenty of "adult beverages" and 3 sweet children that entertained us all until about 10PM. We definately had a very good time.

Lisa sent us her estimate for our flowers. It comes in right at $1100.00. My Mom is having a heart attack, but I need to talk to my cousin about it before we make too many decisions. I just need to remember that my Mom would have a heart attack if it had been $110.00, so just take a deep breath and move on. She has always been that way...there is no changing her...so just keep right on moving!!

That is flowers for the bridal parties, Mom's, Dad's, etc. as well as decorating the reception and the CCQ (Capital City Queen). It also includes cleaning it up. I'm thinking it's not so bad, especially considering we have 2 bridal parties to contend with.

I talked to my cousin last night and she agrees with me that it is very reasonable.

I just love the idea that Lisa is going to do the decorating and cleaning it up! I visited with her again yesterday, and she said ours is her only wedding so far that weekend. I was really surprised, I thought she would have several more to do. I was actually quite happy about it. When she did my daughters wedding, she had 2 others and was late with the flowers. So, I was a little leary about having her do ours...but I think it will work out!

I'm going to put the pics of our invites in my journal too. I'm not sure how to make these pics bigger, so I guess for now they will have to be small. Sorry. If you have any suggestions or comments on my invites, please don't be afraid to tell me. I've never done anything like this before. Bruce thinks they are neat. He's pretty impressed.

Here is the entire invite (except the flap on the outside doesn't show).

Did you decide how to recognize your parents? I was thinking you could play a favorite song, and present them with flowers and a hug.

I think your invites look great. Only suggestion I have for you is that maybe you should bring the wording up a couple of lines so it doesn't look like you printed to the bottom of the page and missed some words.

I wasn't thinking about how to recognize our living parents...I'm glad you brought that up. Both of those ideas are fantastic, and I'm going to incorporate something into my ceremony. Thank you for the idea.

I was wanting to try to figure out something to honor Bruce's parents that are deceased. (Now both of my cousin's parents are gone too) Any ideas for that would be welcome.

Thanks again for the idea.

You could do a couple of things...

When my best friend was married, her ceremony was in a nice hotel, so no opportunity to do "altar flowers" like you see at a church wedding. Her husband's mom is deceased, so they had a picture of his mom in her wedding dress and a flower next to it, right next to the guest registry. It was nice.

Or if you want to include them in the same "moment" you could give a colored flower to your living folks, and a white flower to an appropriate representative for the deceased.

When my aunt was married, she carried flowers to hand to the living women in both families as she reached the alter. I think that is a common tradition.

Everything sounds great so far. Where exactly do you live in SD? I grew up on the NE border of Sioux City IA, so wondering how far you are from "home."

How is the dress fiasco going?

ger

I am in central SD, real close to Pierre. I've been thru Sioux City a lot when we lived in Topeka, KS.

My wedding dress was shipped Monday, so hopefully by the end of the week I should have it. The girls of this wedding need to figure out what they want to wear so that we can get at it. One of these days!!

I'm trying to be patient. Some of the people involved in this wedding aren't as good about being organized as I am (are you hearing...almost EVERYONE??) I'm getting...Oh, that's months away yet...when I ask if they've done something I requested they get done!!! LOL

You must be a very patient person...I give you all the kudos in the world. If one of my bm's told me "ohhh no worry it's months away" I would be like oh no...This is what we are doing...

I would suggest a shopping trip. Organize the bridal party and say we are going to shop for dresses. Date, time, etc. and that you must make time to be there. The sooner we can get this done, the better. Generally, if you are nice but stern they will make arrangements to be there.

I have 7 bridesmaids all with different responsibilities, some that have no realy ones either so sometimes it's hard to get everyone together. Although, if I tell them I need something generally by the end of the day that I need it they all come thru!! If I am vague and say this needs to get done with no set date or time I usually don't get much out of it. I would suggest being a bit more specific and say we're scheduling this to do ......Hopefully that will help!

Patience you have the heart of an angel. I swear, there is no way I would be 3 months from my wedding. And having my BM's telling me we have months to go and they don't even know what they are wearing. Or anything else to do with the wedding. Wow all I can say to you is KUDDO'S and I hope that it all works out in the end, and your gals get their act together.

Unfortunately it's not just the girls. My officiant said the same thing to me yesterday...until I told her this wedding is only 102 days away! Then she was like...OH MY!!!

One of the groomsmens' wife asked me last night what he was wearing ... and I said Bruce hadn't decided yet. She told me to tell him to kick it in the *ss and let her know...so they could go get it. I told him and he was actually listening.

I know that it will get all done. And if the girls don't get at it...they will be spending lots more money than having Mom sew them. I have faith (I hope)

I would suggest a shopping trip. Organize the bridal party and say we are going to shop for dresses.

That would be a good idea, but one lives in ND, 2 live in KS, and one lives here. They are our daughters, so should probably be easier to say...ok, ladies...this is how we're doing it. But, I figure, it's their dresses. They won't let me down. They will show up looking beautiful.

I was going to sew all the dresses, but it's getting a little close for that...so maybe they will just have to find something already made. It will probably cost them more money...but I am sure they will all look fine.

Once I get my dress, I will quit stressing. I really haven't stressed about what anyone else is wearing, just ME!!!

We picked up Bruce's pants the other evening..now we just need to find the shirt and tie to go with it, if we decide on a tie.

I think I'm more stressing over getting those darn invites done. I need time to work on them. Maybe this weekend. We'll see.

Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it. If anyone can see anything else I should be getting done...PLEASE let me know. I want this to be all done ahead of time...so if I can get it done, I want it done NOW!!!

You are so welcome for the help and advice. I guess if you are dealing with your own daughters than you have more faith in them than you would your run of the mill BP..I think that is very nice to have your daughters as you bp. I'm having my two sons as ring bearers. They can't wait!

My dress came...and it is beautiful!! My little granddaughter was here when I tried it on and she was so excited. She had gotten her Easter dress the same day..so tried hers on too. She had the biggest smile on her face and said "Gamma, can we dance?" So we had to go out into the living room and put on some music and dance.

The only sad thing is...I forgot to take pics. My DD is coming over on Sunday and we're going to try it on again, and I won't forget to take pics this time.

I didn't notice until just yesterday that our rings match. The leaves are the very same in both FH's ring and mine. I was so excited by that (yeah, I know, it doesn't take much to excite me!!). I guess I just noticed because we just got FH's back. When it came it was too small, so had to send it in to get it made bigger.

I ordered my undergarments and my shoes today. My MOH (oldest daughter) came over today and I think she might have finally found something to wear. She and the oldest SD were talking on the computer, so I'm not sure what they decided, but I'm sure it will be georgous!!

They also looked at FG dresses. She found a couple of them that weren't too out of like and will look really cute on both granddaughters.

I must be making progress. I have all the ceremony invites done and am working on the reception invites. I also took on the job of making my cousins invites. I told her that if I was going to do it...we'd best get at it!!

Ok I just checked and opened my links up in my e-mail and I was able to see them bigger. Is there anyway that you could have the seamstress hick up the dress a bit. I am still not sure what you mean by adding the blue band. But I do see now what your talking about with the girls.

Hopefully their dresses are getting ordered this Friday. I'm beginning to get nervous!!

I got the sand for the sand ceremony. Now I need to find a vase to put it in. Nothing caught my eye as I was shopping. I'm also needing to try to color the sand...they didn't have but a neutral color (and only 3 bags of that). We live in such a small area that it is hard to find that stuff. I got the top band put on and as soon as I can get some pics, I'll show you. I am also thinking about putting a band around the bottom. Haven't totally decided on that yet.

I am almost done with getting the invites out. It seems as I was doing this, I am finding more people that I need to send to...so need to make more. I worked almost all day yesterday on trying to get them done.

Bruce kind of got cold feet on me last week. He doesn't even know what was happening...but when I was ready to go get the stamps to mail out the invites on Saturday, he picked a fight...and told me to NOT send them out. By Saturday evening, he says...oh, I don't know what my problem was...go ahead and send them.

I said...sure, now that the post office isn't open. Oh, well, I had more I needed to make, so guess it wasn't a big deal. I also read in someone elses journal that their FH was being a pain when it was the time to send out invites...so maybe it comes with the territory. It sure made me feel better to read that though. I really like the blue ban with you dress. I love color in wedding dresses. I'm sure it will turn out beautiful. Shawn gets the same way when it's go time on things. For instance the Save the dates. Between a tiny bit of help from him with them, my bridal party helping me, and myself doing and printing all the envelopes..Shawn decided last minute as I was getting ready to mail them that he wanted to critique everything about them including the font I chose on the envelopes. I was like are you flipping nuts or something?? I think a lot of it is they think we'll change our mind ten times between we first talk about them and actually doing them. When it's just about all said and done they are like stunned by it all or something. I don't think it's neccessarily cold feet it just all of a sudden hits them!!

I can't wait to see the pics by the way!!

I sent the invites today. It seems I keep having to make more. You would think one of the first days I would get done doing that! LOL

Bruce helped me yesterday when he got home from work. He licked all the envelopes. I told him to use a sponge, but he said he was fine. He even offered to help me put the stamps on...but we found some envelopes that he had missed, so he ended up doing those instead.

Well, all the invites are out. And I sure am getting a lot of compliments on how they look. That makes all the work worthwhile. I figured out tonite and I spent right at $55.00 for 120 invites. I guess that makes all the work even more worthwhile. I'm kind of proud of myself.

We are going to make cream cheese mints tonite. I can't wait. Another of my cousins has a daughter that is graduating the week before the wedding. Her Mom, another friend and I are going to make mints for the graduation and the wedding. It shoudl be a lot of fun. My Mom is kind of sad because she won't be there. She does a lot of volunteering for the Red Cross and is gone to a conference. She won't be home until 9PM.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot....look, it's only 1 MONTH until I get to say I do to the best guy on the face of the earth!! I'm so freaking excited...I could scream. He just started laughing when I reminded him. He thinks I'm so funny about all that.

only one month to go. congrats to you on this.

Thank you so much! Can you tell I'm so very excited?!?!? It must be rubbing off because the girls are finally deciding what they want to wear for this wedding. Am I lucky or what??? I knew they would come thru. They don't want to have to be naked!!!

I got my fake nails today too. I'm going to have a manicure...but I can't have those kind of nails, so I bought some that the kids can put on for me and they will come off again a little easier. Because I work in a hospital, I'm not allowed to wear fake nails to work. I don't want to have to fight to get the professional ones off.

OK, ladies...here it is. You've been asking....now you're seeing. My daughter came over this evening and took a couple of pics of my dress. Mind you, it is a work in progress. But, the top band is pinned on and the bottom band is about 1/2 done. Sooooo, without further ado, here it is.

Some of my friends and I got together last night and made mints. We made yellow, light blue, and dark blue...and then I got fancy and combined the blues together and made some that way. The yellow ones are lemon, lt blue are mint, and dk blue are almond flavors. Here is a pic.

Today is the 2nd anniversary of the day we moved in together. And we have had an absolutely fantastic day!! We got a WHOLE bunch of things done at home. We also went for a drive in the country. It rained last night and everything is so green and wet and pretty. Bruce is a farmer..so green and wet are so neat. And we have been in a drought for 6 years...so green and wet are amazing!!

Our original date to be married was going to be tomorrow..but we had to change it because of my cousin's daughter. I wasn't happy...but it will work out in the end!! LOL

We looked at what we are doing for our honeymoon. It's only going to be 3 days for now. Bruce needs to get back and start planting sunflowers...but we'll doing something longer later. We plan to go to the Black Hills and have a relaxing time sight seeing. I'm so looking forward to it. And Bruce is just beside himself...he's so excited.

WE also got our paint sticks painted for the programs. When I get them done, I will post them. I think they are kind of fun...we'll see what you guys think.

One of the things I am soooo excited about is that 2 weeks from today, ALL of my children will be home. I haven't seen the 2 youngest in about 4 or 5 years. They live in KS near their bio Mom and we talk almost every day...but I haven't seen them. Not to mention..I have never seen my 2 youngest grandchildren. So, Oh, MY what fun.

I just told Bruce that by the end of the weekend, he was going to be feeling neglected. He said...that's OK...I get you ALL TO MYSELF for the 3 days after that!!! What a sweetie!!!!!!

tiffany.marlene

OK, this is enough for one book. I'll write more later!

Did you post a picture of your invites? I don't remember seeing them...

Thank you ladies. I am quite proud of myself. It took some time, but I thought they turned out pretty neat. I have had a lot of compliments on them. The reason they didn't cost as much as they might have is...I used to sell scrapbooking supplies and had quite a bit of the cardstock I needed already on hand from 3 or 4 years ago. So I didn't need to buy but about 1/2 the cardstock I needed and none of the vellum. That was one of the reasons I wanted to do them myself. I have also used left-over cardstock for the programs. Because our cardstock was white on one side...it works. LOL

I posted these elsewhere, but want them in my journal too. I made these to surprise Bruce. The material cost me $.99, the elastic cost me $.97, and the fancier lace cost me $2.94. The smaller lace was something I found in the sewing stuff I got when my Grandma Edith moved to the nursing home.

I was thinking about doing a super fancy scrapbook for our honeymoon pictures. I haven't ever done one before, but I've seen kits that make it seem pretty easy.

Any tips?

ger
05-11-2007, 10:53 AM
Kits do make things a lot easier...at least for me. That way you don't have to pick out things that go together..they already are picked out for you. Other than that...just go with what you like. You're the one that is going to have to look at it for the next 50 years. LOL Let me know if you have any questions though. I'm not too talented at it...but I have fun doing it.

NicksBride

Scrapbooking is something I do professionally sometimes and as a hobby and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I am hoping to open a scrapbook store someday. If you do it professionaly...do you do other's wedding albums? You should. Especially if you enjoy doing it. Making money at something you like doing is the whole idea of life for me!!!

NicksBride

Yup, I do wedding albums, baby albums anything.. I mainly do it for friends and haev not branched out to much. But word of mouth is really popular and I have a few I am working on right now.

You silly goose...why haven't you started that as a business...and put an announcement on here? You should. Go for it!!!

NicksBride
05-11-2007, 11:49 AM
haha we shall see. some people are just really scared of sending pictures. I don't know. I will think about it. I am shy about my work. haha

ger
05-11-2007, 11:54 AM
I was thinking about that sending pics thru the mail thing when I told you to go for it. The way around that to me, would be to have double prints made. That way, if they get lost, etc. they are not lost forever.

Don't be shy!!! Go for it!!

NicksBride

I will seriously think about it! Thanks!!!! :)
I will have to take pictures of what I made and put them up somwhere. :)

ohh that would be fun! Although dealing with some Bridezillas could be difficult!

ger
05-11-2007, 12:52 PM
Yes, I'm sure it could. But, you just pick nice people like you and me...and you'll have it made. LOL

Of course, I just have never understood why a person becomes a Bridezilla to begin with. I've always been taught that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar!!

Thank you. I was hoping that EVERYTHING on that list would be blue by now..but oh, well. I'm getting there! LOL

NicksBride
05-14-2007, 11:43 AM
You still have 12 days. Everything will get done, no worries. I always make lists and they seem SOO long, when really it takes a few minutes for each piece. Just tick them off one by one. :)

ger
05-14-2007, 11:49 AM
Actually several are already in process, just not quite done yet. The 2 that have me worried are the guest book ( I don't even know what I want yet) and the music for the CCQ. Otherwise, everything is pretty much under control.

Oh, yeah...our first dance song. Bruce knows what he wants...just doesn't know the name of it OR who sings it. I giggle at him each time I ask him if he's figured it out yet. He's so funny!!

NicksBride
05-14-2007, 11:52 AM
You guys are to cute. Hope Bruce can produce the tune so you guys can dance to it. hahaha

Why not have a guest book that either corresponds with your flowers, or your theme or color scheme. Or you can get a picture frame guest book. There are so many options. Have you looked at Michaels Craft Stores for inspiration?

ger
05-14-2007, 11:55 AM
You forget...I live in the middle of nowhere. LOL We have no Michaels. We barely have Walmart and that's 30 miles away. I think part of my problem is there ARE so many options. I'm leaning towards a picture mat. That's what I would really like, just not sure where to find one. Thanks for the advice...and I'll keep thinking.

NicksBride
05-14-2007, 12:12 PM
ohh you live in what we call the boonies. hahaha.
We have a picture Mat that we got from our wedding and it is just soo neat to have it framed and for people to have signed it and tehn our picture in the middle. Really looks neat.
Either way you are clever, i am sure you will find something!

ger
05-14-2007, 12:15 PM

I just went through your journal and it looks like things are really coming along! Can you believe that is it this close to the time?! It seems like you and I were just talking about our invites!

Oh, and I know what you mean about the boonies. I live 30 min away from the nearest walmart too! Our town doesn't even have a stop light! haha!

ger
05-14-2007, 11:36 PM
We don't have a stop light either. We have some stop signs...not that too many people pay much attention to them. LOL Our town has about 800 people in it.

It is amazing to me how fast this time has gone by. I am so thankful that I listened to myself and not all those people that told me I had plenty of time to get things done. I can't imagine what kind of panic I would be in if I had too many more things to do!!

I sure have had a lot of good comments about my invites. I hope you have too. Yours are so very pretty. I hope they worked out for you.

I am so sad. I finally got ahold of the Dad of my step-grandson (he ignores calls a lot...and I only got ahold of him because I used another persons cell that he doesn't know the number). Anyway, he won't let my grandson come to our wedding. Kaden (my GS) is 5 and was raised in my house until he was 18 months old. He is the son of my youngest SD and she had him when she was 15. The other Grmother in his life is a total and 100% ***ch. There is NO ONE in 3 counties that has anything good to say about this woman. She is also a multimillionaire and likes to spend her money on lawyers.

To make a very long and painful story a little shorter, my SD played right into her hands...got into some trouble...and got Kaden taken away from her. She then moved to KS and has almost no contact with him. I, however, try to call him once or twice a month. It's hard because, as I said, Scott...the dad...doesn't answer the phone if he knows it is someone in our family. My ex (Steve) has court-ordered visitation...but they are denying even him to have visitation and he has no money to get a lawyer.

Anyway, tonite, on my way to work, I got Scott on the phone and he has said Kaden can't come to the wedding. That makes me so sad. I'm trying to be nice about it...but the whole thing is so unfair. The grandwitch gets him whenever she wants...but I haven't even seen him in almost a year. When he was born...I had to pay all the bills. She paid not a penny!!!

I'm sorry....what a vent this turned out to be.

I'm also sad because my aunt, uncle, and sil from KS aren't going to be able to make it either. I just found all that out today too. Actually they are the aunt, uncle and sis to my ex...but when he left me they kept me as their family and got rid of him. lol Oh, well...it must be the way it is supposed to be. Makes me sad all the way around though.

I am so sorry your Grandson cannot come to your wedding. I am sure that makes you really sad. It is really unfortunate that it had to happen so close to your wedding as well.

I think your lists look great, you are so organized....

ger
05-15-2007, 12:50 PM
Well, I really didn't expect him to get to come...but I do believe in miracles. For quite awhile Scott (the dad) and I were getting along, but his **tch of a mother threw a very large monkey wrench in that. Now it's a really big struggle.

BUT, I have always lived my life with the premise...what goes around, comes around...they will get theirs. It has gotten me thru many a stressful situation, especially when dealing with parents of children I love.

Thanks so much for the sympathetic ear. It really helps.

NicksBride
05-15-2007, 01:12 PM
well in any event it really does not make things any easier so I am truly sorry. But as you said, I guess you cannot change anything. So just enjoy your final 11 days and get excited for your wedding!!!!:D

ger
05-15-2007, 01:33 PM
You're right, it doesn't make it easier...but I at least wasn't caught off guard. I saw it coming!

I'm so excited, I could just burst. I got so many things done at work last night. I finished the programs (I need to make about 10 more though...thought I had enough:bbconfused: ) and got the coloring books put together. I got my lists done, so I know where I'm at.

I went and picked up my dress at the cleaners today. I also stopped at the motel and got a printout of who has reservations. Then I called a couple of people that SHOULD have had reservations and reminded them. LOL

I also decided on our guest book. I talked to my cousins' daughter and she and her sister are going to help me. I got some material (baby blue for us and red for Vicki) and I'm going to cut squares. The girls will have the guests sign them and then I will make a quilt with the squares and some pics from our weddings. I know it's a lot of work...but I think it will be worth it!!

Now it is definately time to go mow the lawn. I need to do my parents' AND mine. They live right across the alley from us. We own 1/2 of a city block between us, so there is a lot to mow!! LOL Mom is up in Aberdeen volunteering for Red Cross because they have had such bad flooding. Dad, even though he is supposed to be retired, is driving truck for a farmer and is in the field from sun up to sun down. So he asked if I would mow his too. I would never tell my Dad no...he does so much for us.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandson not being able to make the ceremony! I feel for you!! I have primary custody of both of my children. My ex husband has given me grief ever since he took Dylan to Florida. He is making unruley requests, saying heart crushing things to me, and demanding like he has all the rights in the world. Anyhow, Sometimes I think deep down inside he's upset that I am getting remarried!! I know our situations are quite different but I can relate to how you feel not having him there! I read over your lists too and everything looks great! Your mind is just going 24/7 huh?? You're doing fine and in a few days you and Bruce are going to have a wonderful wedding day!!

ger
05-15-2007, 03:02 PM
I will never understand why it is that people use children in the middle of their stupidity. Why can't these so called adults act like adults instead of 3 year olds? What gives your ex the right to make any demands?? If he hadn't made his bed...he wouldn't be sleeping in it right now. I swear sometimes they should let the children of the world run the world. They are usually nicer to other people until adults screw them up with their rudeness!!

My brain is going 24/7. And the fact that I worked all night last night helped me get a lot done. I only had one patient and she was easy, so I could accomplish a lot.

I got my Dad's lawn mowed and mine started. It looks like it's going to rain...so I'd better finish. Then I really, really need a nap...or I'm going to be VERY cranky!! (Oops, guess I'll be acting like a 3 year old too, huh???)

NicksBride
05-15-2007, 03:34 PM
That is awesome!!!! i am so glad that you got so much stuff done! I can remember my brain never stopped before the wedding. But it is fun and it sounds like you are just going at full steam with your planning and getting stuff done.
It is nice of you to mow everyones lawn! What a good daughter. :)
Hope things calm down for you in your last 11 days!!!!!

05-15-2007, 04:48 PM
I am actually really enjoying all of the planning. It's been a lot of fun for me. I just want everyone to have fun.

I ran out of gas. And do you suppose I can raise either guy on the cell phone (Dad or Bruce)?? Heck no. I have about 1 pass left on our front and most of the back. But I can't find our gas can and I don't know where Dad's is. Soooo, I laid down and took a short nap.

NicksBride
05-16-2007, 08:44 AM
Yea for a nap!! But that is really annoying when you are so close to finishing and can't haha.

ger
05-16-2007, 10:35 AM
Yeah...I really, really needed that nap. Sometimes after I've worked all night, I forget that you're supposed to sleep all day. LOL I usually have way too many things to get done to be sleeping all day!!

A friend came to borrow our trailer and went and got me some gas, so I finished the front yard. I had already taken a shower though, so didn't finish the back because the wind was blowing and the dust was really bad.

This morning I'm going to finish the back and then this afternoon I go to get my hair colored. I'm so excited about that. She is going to try my hair for the wedding too.

Then I work tomorrow, Friday and Monday and I will be off until after the wedding. YAH!!!! Our bachelor/bachelorette party is Saturday night. We have to go to graduation and to a couple of parties for that first...then on to our party. Some of us are having a benefit for one of our friends that has cancer that day...so they decided to continue the party to make it our b/b party. It should be a fun time, but very long day. LOL

It is supposed to storm really bad the beginning of the week. I sure hope it doesn't do too much damage!!
