Let me know what you think of these. Be honest.

I wanted to hand write them because I think it feels more intimate. What do you think about that concept?
How do they look? I like the ripped edge look, kinda.. handmade.. looking.
Also, I was thinking maybe backing them with a printed paper so they have a border. If I did that, I wouldn't doodle on the invites like on those. I NEED HELP DECIDING!

Everyone I talked to hates them. And I wouldn't mind hand writing them all because I wouldn't do it all at one time and if you know me, you know I love to write.

But since everyone hates them I might order these:

I'd get them without the ribbon (its like over 50$ cheaper!) and buy my own ribbon in a green that matches our wedding colors.

Hmmm. I do like the idea of handwritten invitations. How many people are you inviting? I think it would be overwhelming personally and if you make a mistake you'd have to start over. But I guess if you're really determined and take them 1 at a time it would be ok.

I really like the 2nd ones too though. I would personally buy just cuz you're gonna have so many other things to do too. And I think they'd look great with a green ribbon.

Sorry thats probably not much help. But good luck!

I think they are lovely! Your handwriting is beautiful. I like the ripped edge, the drawing & also the green ribbon.

The only things I would do differently is to keep the writing all the same size and colour and to try to stay away from (don't overlap onto ) the bamboo (??) image on the right hand side.

How many would you have to do?

I think your handwriting is lovely. If you didn't have a lot to do then I say go for it. But try to make your handwriting all the same size and color and if you get tired stop till next day. IMO

I really like your handmade invitations. You have great handwritting. If it doesn't overwhelm you to do them I would say to go for it. If you do decide against it, I love the other invites too.

I love the handwritten ones! Your handwriting is so beautiful! I also like your names in green with the rest in black, it looks good. Would you be able to scan one into your computer and print the rest? Then it would be less time consuming and you don't have to worry about making a mistake.

Your second choice is also beautiful, you can't go wrong either way.

The idea of scanning it and printing them is a good idea, it will still give the impression of being hand written

I may have to look into something like this, I just find them too cute

Whoa!!! You are brave!!! I am such a perfectionist, I would drive myself crazy trying to handwrite all the invites!!! However, they are lovely. Oh, and we have the same last (Maiden) name!

How many do you have to do?

The invites look great btw. You have great handwriting. THe only way I wouldn't do it the DIY way is if I had over 50 invites to do. I would get way to overwhelmed with all the details of it but that is just me. But if you feel that you can pull it off then go for it. I also like your 2nd choice. Best of luck and keep us informed.

I love both sets of invites. The first set is less formal than the second but it depends on the type of wedding you plan on having too.

I think people don't like them because it's not the "norm", but I want you to go with the one you truley want! It's your big day!!!! Good Luck, and let us know your final decision!

It depends on the style and formality of your wedding, as the invitations are the first glimpse your guests have of your wedding day, and should be a reflection of the day.

While I like your handwritten invitations, they may or may not be appropriate for your wedding. Small and casual, probably yes. Large and more formal, then no.

A side note on invitations for a formal event -- it used to be that the invitations were engraved with a space left on the invitation itself for the guest's name to be handwritten on it.

I personally love the handwritten ones, and it sounds like you are dedicated enough to pull it off too. I say go for it!!

Just so everyone knows, there were a few other replies to the thread that were accidentally deleted yesterday. One by me, Shawna, Jen, and Christina I think. It was a mistake and didn't have anything to do with the content of the post itself.

Wow, your invites look great! I know I would appreciate the effort of a handwritten invitation, but I also understand that it's not something people are used to.

I think Melissa's idea to scan and print copies of your handwritten invite is the best - you could do this at a store like kinko's or staples. That way you can spend a few days making sure everything looks even and is spaced correctly and then print them ...and save the carpal tunnel for addressing them all!

Personally, I would use the ordered ones. Depending on the number of guests you are inviting, it can definitely get overwhelming...if I did ours all over again, I would have spent the money and ordered them. We purchased and invite kit and I printed them on the computer....I ended up having to spend hours getting the format right and then ended up having to reprint them 4 times....that was stressful enough. I was going to hand-write all of the addresses, but after all of that with the invites, I just used mailing labels. I'm just not keen on hand-written invites and I'm also thinking of the stress for you to do them especially when you have so much else to worry about.

I really love the handwritten ones and would go with them if the list wasn't too large. They're very personal and a keepsake. Good luck, though, with whatever you decide.
