Hi, I'm new to all this..just got engaged over New Year's Eve (After a 6 year courtship), and we have set our projected wedding date for May-July 2007. We have not set a "date" due to that we want to find a reception location first and then go from there..but we are young and on a tight budget. We would like to have our reception in the city (NYC), but can't seem to find anything in our price range..Any suggestions? Any would be greatly appreciated..

Hi and welcome and congratulations!!! I would imagine the prices are going to be very high in NYC. If you really have your heart set on getting married there I would suggest having a very limited number of guests. If you want a big wedding with lots of people you may have to look elsewhere. Good luck and again welcome!

Hi there. Congratulations on your engagement!
I'm trying to think of different ideas that might be a bit more affordable and still be in NYC. Firstly, i would suggest looking into a bridal show in the area. Usually there are plenty happening in the New Year. There will definatly be some ideas there.
I don't know what price range you are looking into. But get in touch with some Hotels and baquet halls. If they are still a bit out of your range maybe think about a studio space or a loft for your reception. Also, i'm not sure if there is a cost, or some where you need to call for booking. But a ceramony in Central Park could be beautiful in May through July.
Also.... try doing a google search on New York City wedding venues.
Hope you find somthing great!

congrats! Try looking into some of the art museums, they're probably cheaper and you get some free decor for guests to look at. i'm sure some of them allow weddings, you'd just have to see which ones

Hello and welcome to the boards. I'm sorry, I do not know much about NYC venues except for the fact that everything is more expensive in the city. Good luck and I can't wait to hear more of your ideas!
