So Kevina nd I have realized that the time is getting closer to the wedding and because we're planning to do the invites on our own we need to start figuring something out...
So I know about velum that you can print them right off off your printer, but for cardstock I'm getting confused...
What's the deal wth card stock? I can look it up but I'm hoping some of you have had some experience, cause what it says on a companies website isn't always the best or easiest.
We're goign to be printing a picture of us onto it to place under the vellum. Do you think I should use cardstock or is there another paper maybe I should think of using? I just don't want it too flimsy. The other idea I had was to get the picture and glue it onto the cardstock and have a little border around it frpom the overlapping cardstock. It's all a budgetary thing lol.
Any help, or expereince or even stories would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!
THANKS LADIES :)

I do scrapbooking.
Velum is kind of hard to print on. plus its a pain to find something to make it stick to other things with out showing throw. Even the velum tape dose not always work..
I would say put a frame arround the photo and then lay velum over it.. If you need links to web site for cardstock let me know..

I did my save the dates entirely out of card stock. I got a invitations print program and loaded that since it had templates that I could use and directs your printer to print in every color plus some under the table. It's called platinum press printing through Mountain Cow. I didn't find card stock to be that hard to work with except for the fact is that you need to cut it. Do you have an AC moore around where you live. THey offer tons of differnt colors and textures of card stock and and the valium. What I think looks really nice is to print what you want on the velium and the just punch two holes in the card stock and velium and tie it with a rubbon. You have to be careful with using glue and velium together since it can blead through depending on what type of glue you use. The biggets part of dealing with card stock is just deciding how to cut if and to cut it even. I recommend picking up a big paper cutter to cut your demensions square. I haven't used any velium yet, but I had no problems printing on the card stock and making my save the dates. What I did was use two different colors of cards stock. I had a larger piece of burgondy and printed out all my information on the cream color card stock I then cut them a little smaller and pasted with stick glue and put these gold corner borders (I'm not sure what they are called) and then I bought a gold stamp pad and found a stamp that had a cute quote to help decorate it a bit to tie in the gold with the burgondy and cream. I will have to take a picture of it tonight and post it. I'm still working on just putting them all together, but I have some of them done. Honestly, it was kind of fun doing them myself and so far I haven't had any major problems.

Ya the vellum will be an overlay on the cardstock held together by a ribbon. I could only imagine what a pain it would be to hide adhesive with it.

I've posted this before, but this is what we're doing for our invites, possibly changed a bit. I just don't wanna go out and buy the wrong stuff or anything plus we need to do about 160 of these bad boys!!!!! eeeeeeek

yeah, card stock would work the best or you could use photo paper for a more glossy photo. I would highly suggest ordering from a craft store so you can actually see the exact color etc. of what you are buying. You run a risk of not getting the right colors or the wrong amount by ordering online.

Check http://www.paperandmore.com/ You can order samples of the papers that you think you might want to use, print some things and see what you think. That way, you're not shelling out a ton of cash, only to realize that you don't like the results.
Also, if I remember correctly, they had a lot of printing tips also.
Good luck.

I'm actually going to go in to staples and first check the density, then I'm going to go and try and find a wholesale place or mayeb a warehouse. We have all sorts of different warhouses where we live. That way I could probably order a box of it, and see it in person.
I'm hopefully going to grab a few of my bridal party to help me do this lol. Slave labour lol.
My Mom works at a school and she can also use the paper cutter for me, so I don't have them all messed up from scissors.
What a pain in the butt!!! Although we priced what we'll need and printing and so on and it's under $100 and if we order from teh company we're looking at just shy of $600!!! I can deal with the gluing, cutting, and bowing for that price difference.
