So, I went to the mall tonight to get my nails done because Pat got me a G/C to get them done and while I was out there I figured I would get my rings cleaned. When I get there I asked if they could clean my necklace as well, which was a wedding gift to me from Patrick. A beautiful 10K White Gold Diamond and Ruby Necklace:

He goes and cleans my rings and the necklace and all of them look beautiful, but he tells me that he is going to have to send my necklace in. I gave him a puzzling look and he said that while he was cleaning the necklace....A DIAMOND POPPED OUT!! He said it would be a couple of DAYS but they would replace it for free. I told him that I really hate to be without it, but obviously, I wanted the diamond replaced, so I asked when it would be back in....January 11 he tells me. *Sigh* I'm a little ticked right now because I love my necklace and I hate being without it!

It sucks, Lizbeth, that the diamond fell out, but I think it was good luck that it fell out there instead of at home where you wouldn't have been able to do anything about it.
I would just be careful and have the necklace checked when you get it back, at another jeweler, to make sure they didn't do anything sneaky with it... kwim?

I have had 2 diamonds fall out of my E ring, and had to be replaced, it sucks, but when a ring or necklace has little diamonds the jewelry store is suppose to check them before they clean them to make sure they are not loose, if they are they usually wont clean them for you.

That's the thing. He said he checked them and they all seemed secure, but when he used the cleaner, the vibrations apparently popped it out. Regardless, I'm more then a little ticked.

That really sucks, but I agree with Maria at least they caught it and will repair for free verses losing a diamond at home or in public and not being able to find it.
BTW- It is a gorgeous necklace!

It is a gorgeous necklace, make sure to look it over when you get it back and I am sure you will have no problem with it in the future!

That does stink but at least you didn't lose a diamond! Gorgeous necklace...I am going to have to go without my rings for about a week to have them soldered (sp?) together....the guard to the e-ring. Just think....about the time you get your necklace back you could have a bun in the oven too! :ginger:

That really stinks! That has never happened to me before, but I can imagine how you must feel. Like everyone has said though at least it was there and not at home, although if it did fall out at home I'm sure oyu could take it back to the original jewler and get it replaced as well!
good luck! hope it works out http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_1_111.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm824YYUS)

I nkow how you feel about going without it Lizabeth. I had to gowithout my engagement ring for a week. In August when I had it cleaned and inspected one of the prongs was bent. They had to sent it out. It sucks I know but like every one else said atleast you didnt lose the diamond.
With my first husband when I had my rings cleaned the head of my engagment ring fell off. The whole things, the prongs setting with the diamond and all. So yeah it is apin but it will be fixed and you wont have to worry any more ( I hope ).
