I know a few people are planning Vegas for their honeymoon...where's everyone else going? Anyone have any really romantic not so expensive ideas? We wanted to do an Alaskan Cruise, but I don't think our pocket books are going to be able to afford a cruise on the puddle that forms next to our drive way every time it rains...so I'm up for suggestions.

We were very lucky and got to go to Hawaii for our honey moon. It was very beautiful and very hot (a nice change from the crappy weather we were having back home in Canada!!)

As far as less expensive ideas for honeymoons...try bed & breakfasts...local ranches that offer "holidays"...a trip to the Rocky Mountains...A trip to Niagra Falls...things like that. We would have made a trip to the Mountains for our honey moon if my father in law had not been so gracious as to treat us to a fab honeymoon in Hawaii!

Vegas is a lot of fun and can be very affordable if you shop around a little.

As for our honeymoon, Sean and I are heading to he Bahamas. We are using an all inclusive resort. I left it totally up to him and I can't complain one bit.

That was our original plan, too. But Vegas is sooo much more within our budget. It is almost half the price of our other top choices. That alone made my mind up!

We considered Vegas and I suggested getting a cabin at a national park (to save money and it's something I've been wnating to do a while). However, my finace states that this is our big chance to splurge on a trip that we may not get to do again, so we are thinking of flying to ireland and renting a car to drive through Ireland and Scotland, staying at B&B's along the way. It seems like everyone I know does something tropical, but it's just not me. My fair skin does not agree with the sun, and I can't swim. I love history and beuty so Ireland/Scotland will be perfect!

That sounds like so much fun! I'm the same way in the sun. I'm a redhead, so I don't do well in the sun.

Sean and I had talked about a honeymoon in France, Italy, or Hungary. But we came to the ralization that we are going to be exhausted after our wedding. And on a European vacation there is just no relaxing because there is ust so much stuff to see, do, and experience. So we are waiting for our first anniversary for that.

Lacey: I've been to Italy twice. Once on a 10 day where I saw a lot of different areas. Then I went with my Fiance and his family to an area called the Cinque Terra. It's a very relaxing place! It's a national part consisting of 5 cities along the cliffs of the mediteranian. You can get from city to city on hiking trails, by ferry or train. It's been made a national park to Preserve the old feeling to these towns. No car traffic is allowed, you walk everywhere and since it is a tourism spot most of the shop owner speak english. (most of the tourist were italians, english and australian). Not a lot of historical areas, so you don't feel pressured to get a lot of sight seeing in. We spent our time eating out, hiking, at the beach, sampling wine, we had a kitchen so each night a different couple made dinner for the rest of the family. I highly reccomend it, the only pain was the 2 hour train ride from Genoa to get to the Cinque Terra after being in a plane for so long. Everyone I know that's been there has loved it. I think it would be a perfect honeymoon. It's not too expensive, our flights were about 500 each person, we rented an apartment for 1000 Euro for I think a week( 4 bedrooms, 3 floors, 2 patios and a full kitchen), but that was for 6 people and with everyone spliting, it was cheap. Feel free to email me if you have questions, I'd be glad to share more info! ruby_velour@yahoo.com

I know the area that you are talking about. I did some studying abroad overseas. I still don't think Europe would be the right place for us. I literally want to find a lounge chair and steady supply of margaritas and not be bothered. If we go to Europe I will end up running all over the place and spend more time in museums than with Sean. But thanks for the info.

Lol, that's funny, Lacey. Everyone wants something different and I think both ideas would be amazing as long as you are with your new hubbie!

I just know that if we went to Europe Sean would be left in the hotel because he wouldn't be able to keep up. I also know that since he only speaks a little Spanish I would be the only person who did any talking while we were there. Unless you have actually had to spend an entire vacation translating for someone you have no idea what a pain in the butt it can be.

I am not sure what my FH has planned or is planning. ( I told him that the honeymoon is up to him ) I would love to go some where where I can sit on the beach for hours on in. But he would love to go to the mountians and rent a cabin. Which I wouldn't mind either. To be secluded with him for a few days would be tooooo nice. No kids? God what would we do  . Tell ya the truth I would be just fine with taking off for 3 or 4 days to another city just to be away with him alone. I dont care really. We can't afford much so what ever he comes up with i will be ok with.
