I got a call from FH a little while and it seems that his sister has to go to the hospital. She is almost 3 months pregnant and was bleeding this morning. They told her to go to the emergency immediately.
I haven't heard anything as of yet, hopefully everything is ok with the baby. Please send some good thoughts her way, I know they need it right now.
Thanks bunches!

I'll keep her in my thoughts. I hope everything turns out okay....Sometimes very simple things can cause you to bleed I had that happen to me and almost felt dumb about it afterwards. Anyhow...I'll keep her in my prayers!

Thanks everyone!
It's a waiting game now. She is still at the hospital. They are supposed to be doing an ultrasound to see what's happening. She has had some bleeding and some clotting. We've been reading about this online and the clotting is what has everyone worried. I guess that is one of the signs of a miscarriage in addition to the bleeding. The family is hoping for the best, I'll be sure to keep you guys posted.
Thanks again! You guys are awesome!

Awwww, I'm so sorry!! I really hope that things are okay. I was told to worry if I soaked three pads in three hours, which I did, and ended up m/c. I am so sorry, I really hope it is nothing!!! The waiting is the worst!! I know, best wishes and please keep us posted!

The latest...
Caroline was released last night about 8:00 after spending the whole day in the ER. She had what they called a threatened miscarriage, but from what they could see from the ultrasound the fetus was ok. There was something about the placenta being lower or dropped (can't remember exactly) which wasn't good. She didn't really understand what that meant. Today she has to go to see her own doctor and they will know more. It looks like she may be on bed rest for a little while.
I'll let you all know what comes of it tonight after work or as soon as I hear anything.

Glad to know the fetus is fine and well. Thanks for the update and will continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers.
that's great she did not miscarry. there are 4 stages
1- threatened: as in this case. any vaginal bleeding in the first trimester is considered a threatened abortion. but what is important was that no tissue passes and the opening that the baby comes out of (cervical os) remains closed. that's what separates it from the other stages
2- inevitable: the opening is open
3- incomplete: the opening is open and tissue has been passed but not all
4- complete: all tissue has been passed.
i dont know if that helps at all understanding the process. best of luck to her and her baby!!

I'm glad everything is okay. I was put on bed rest for 6 weeks during my pregnancy because of pre-eclampsia. It sucks. You know what is the two best things when you are on bed rest??
1 someone there to talk to
2 a care package with like word searches, puzzles, books, magazines, ect.
I hope all the best for her. Support is what they really need right now too.
I know what she is going through. It's a very scary process. Are they making her go in like 2 times a week?
Actually, I was on medicaid so they sent a nurse to my house 2 times a week to check my blood pressure, weight, and protein in the urine...ect.

Thanks! I'm not really sure what is going to happen at this point. She was unable to see her doctor on Friday and the doctor who was covering doesn't see patients on Fridays. She did have a number to call (until 3 pm) in case anything happened or she could go to emergency. Thankfully nothing happened, no more pain, no more bleeding.
She has to take it easy at least for the weekend. We're going over there tomorrow to drop off some stuff for her and maybe take her 3 yo. son off her hands for a little while. She called last night to say how bored she was already and that if I wanted her to she would be willing to put together our invitations for us (they need to be folded and tied). She may get those too!

Oh yes, bed rest sucks!! I was there too! lol. I really hope everything is ok. They told me I had a threatened abortion too, had the u/s, saw the baby and the baby's heart beat and then...Ok sorry. So not the right things to say!! I'm really hoping and praying that everything will be alright for her!! Tell her to hang in there and rest!!! If the bleeding and pain has stopped that is probably a really good sign!! Is she having a lot of morning sickness still? Good luck to her, she is in my thoughts!!

So far it pain and bleeding has stopped. As far as I know the morning sickness has subsided a little. She's had a lot of problems from the beginning. Morning sickness, back pain, some pressure and now this. My sister just finished her OB rotations at the hospital and had not good things to say. It just worries me more now.
The bleeding, pressure and the placenta previa she has are not good things.
She also said not to trust the ER and wait for better information from Caroline's actual dr, which she goes to see on Tuesday.

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes and prayers!
This is the last a final update. Hopefully!
FSIL went to see her doctor yesterday and she is still pregnant. The baby is fine and she should carry to term as long as she takes it easy. She isn't on bed rest which she is more than happy about. She just can't over do it. Housework is completely out and she will more than likely have to give up her dogs until after the baby is born. She used to own a grooming shop which she sold last year and since has kept a couple of her "older" clients working from home just since she had been grooming them since they were puppies.
She does have placenta-previa which I guess isn't that big of a deal since she is having a c-section. I'm not sure about all the specifics of that, I will have to ask my sister who has been doing her ob-gyn rotations for med school. Because of that she may bleed again but it shouldn't cause too much worry.
All in all good news, a huge relief!

Thats great news!! I hope everything continues to go well!
placenta previa just means that the placenta isn't in the correct position and is lower in the uterus than it should be. it is a common cause of a third trimester bleed that is generally painless. there are different degrees of previa and they are names for how much they cover the opening (internal cervical os) (total placenta previa, partial, etc).
that's good that she knows this now though. she will just have to deliver via c section
also there is always the chance that the placenta goes back to its correct position

She was going to anyway as she had one when she was pregnant with her first.
Yep, that is also what the doctor said about it moving back into place.
