I need help trying to figure out my Wedding Day timelines. I want to figure this out for the most part so i can figure out ow long i will need a photographer for.
The ceramony is at 3pm, and should about about 45 minutes long, and our reception site is about 30 minutes away. The photographer has said she will need 2 hours for all the group photos. There is a cocktail reception starting at 5pm for our guests, but i don't know when to plan dinner, how long i should expect for the receiving line. But i'd like dinner to be between 6 and 630pm
Is there a good website to help me figure this out? Have you found anything that has worked for you.
Thanks

Very useful articles. I honestly didn't know this site had all of these things. Thanks!
:D Yep, we have lots of articles. We even let the public submit articles to help other brides plan their wedding. We also have this Chat board ;p, budget calculators, guest list manager, wedding dresses, cake photos, and more.
Planning to have a Q&A soon as well as a wedding websites, wedding blog, forum tickers, and reviews on wedding destinations.

the following is a basic day-of timeline. Of course, it is generic, and there are still other details that have to be determined. Hope this helps.
1:00 pre-ceremony photos start
2:15 pre-ceremony photos end (can do more photos with bride and her ladies as long as they’re not done on the alter)
2:30 guests start to arrive and are seated by ushers
2:57 mom’s go down aisle and light unity candle
3:00 bride’s attendants go down aisle, followed by the bride; ceremony starts
3:45 ceremony ends
3:50 receiving line* and after-ceremony photos
4:30 guests leave ceremony site to go to reception
5:00 cocktail hour begins
6:00 cocktail hour ends
6:00 bride & groom and the bridal party arrive at reception site
6:10 bride & groom and the bridal party arrive are announced in at reception site
6:15 best man’s toast, followed by any other toasts, and a blessing before dinner
6:30 dinner starts
7:15 cake cutting ceremony
7:30 first dance, followed by other traditional dances
*the length of the receiving line depends on the number of guests. A good estimate is 15 - 30 seconds per guest. A nice option to the traditional receiving line is to have the bride and groom release their guests themselves instead of having a couple ushers do so. It still guarantees that the b & g have personally thanked each guest, but goes much quicker than the traditional line.

Thanks for the timeline info. I'm not quite there yet, but glad to know that it's there once I need to plan all that stuff.
Looking forward to more features on Onewed.com!!

Thank you so much Wedbyjean! I really ahve been struggling to wrap my head arround this.
We're having a photos taken at the reception site since it is such a beautiful place. So the bridal party will be doing the photos while guests are arriving for the cocktail party part.
