I don't have a lot of female friends and I've been thinking about our wedding party. I know James (my fiancee) is going to have his best friend as his best man. I thought about having my sister as my bridesmaid but we don't really get along and she's only 14. My best friend of 15 years and I don't talk anymore because I moved. A girl who I thought was a close friend of mine, who I met in massage school, won't answer my phone calls anymore.

There is a girl, Valerie, who I have known for about 4 years. She is also engaged. Recently we have become pretty close and hang out a lot.

Do you think I should ask her?

How far off is her wedding from yours. You don't want to have too much conflict when it comes to bridal showers and bachelorette parties. If that is not going to be a problem, then why not ask her.

Then absolutely feel free to ask her. And if she by chance says no. Take a new approach and have your FI's best man be the best person. It would mean double the work load for him, but there's nothing wrong with starting a new trend.

Yeah but I don't like his best friend. And I know I can't rely on him at all.

Shelley! You're stressing about a Bridesmaid way too soon! Your wedding is not for a year and so many things will change by then! As far as not wanting to ask your sister because she's only 14 & you "don't get along" is not right either. Maybe this would be the one gesture on your part that will make all the difference in the world in her attitude and a life-long relationship between the two of you! Just asking "anybody" to be your bridesmaid is insane! It's a lifetime commitment and something that should be treasured. At my (2nd) wedding I sat down and thought, "Gee, which one of my friends should I ask to be my Matron of Honor?" (We were only having a matron of honor and a best man). Then a light came on when I knew it had to be my best friend that has stuck by me, unconditionally, no matter what. Then I knew my Matron of Honor would be my MOM! Since then our friendship has been even more special. Just wanted to give you some insight from my point of view. Good luck and no matter what...BE HAPPY! :D

I just clicked onto my website for DIGITAL MEMORIES PHOTOGRAPHY in the above reply and up pops this annoying search engine that has NOTHING to do with my website! It shows up fine everywhere else! I guess to visit you'll need to type it all in the ADDRESS bar since Google & Yahoo haven't got it listed on their "engines" yet. Sorry for whatever's
going on here! Mary

You did not have the number 4 at the end of your url, and also you are not allowed to spam the board like that. If you want to promote your company you have to put it in your sig, or just let people lick on the WWW at the bottom of your post! :)
