DH and I got his Dad a digital camera, we did our gift exchange last night.
So this morning his fiance' calls saying she got him one too! So she wants us to help her come up with a replacement gift.
I feel so bad, I guess we need to get together about this kind of thing in the future.
So anyway, any ideas are welcome!
FIL is in his 50's, he is into hunting and fishing and stuff. We have to stay within the budget of $200 or less.
Thanks for all your help!!

hrm my dad is into fishing and hunting too... what about something like some hunting/fishing dvds, of course there is the hunting, fishing gear if he would like that, or if you want to be more sentimental try a nice watch or pocket watch.. maybe even have it engraved on the inside of the cap. If they have a computer I know my dad loves those hunting games.
If you dont want to go that way.. perhaps some other electonic gadget would be good.

I don't think he would really watch the DVD's. I wouldn't really know what gear to get him that he didn't allready have. We got him a nice watch last year fro Christmas and I don't think he is the pocket watch kind.
And he doesn't have a computer, besides that he works alot and I doubt he would play games like that.
I can't think of any other gadget he might like

I am just curious, but if he doesn't have a computer why was a digital camera such a popular gift?
You could also try sites like gifts.com where they have different categories based on age, gender and personality and then give a whole list of ideas. I found my dad a book on that site.

Well his FW has a computer. He is forever taking and talking about pictures. He seemed to really like the camera, his eyes lite up when he realized what it was.

I figure there are lots of great sites out there, but since we are so close to Christmas we probably should look locally.

Awww, that is so nice.

You could look there to get the ideas and then go locally to buy them and there are some sites who will still get it there before Christmas and many times it's free shipping. Today is looking like the cut off for internet shopping though.

Then there is always the old stand bys like sports team apparel if he likes sports.
Oh, another one- Homedics makes a fantastic chair massager, it's called the Shiatsu. It hangs over the back of the chair and has these balls that rotate and move up and down and it is really powerful and deep, like a kneading action. It's not like those ones that just vibrate, it really gives a deep massage. I love them, every time they are on display in a store I stop for a massage and it is generally difficult to not groan too loud with pleasure. :bblol: It's about $99 but really worth it (as far as those type products go, it is top of the line) and I have seen it at Staples and Meijer here. It also might be online and able to ship in time.
Here it is:

I got FH binoculars (SP?) For hunting and stuff. HE LOVED them, they were digital camera binoculars but you can get a really good pair which are nice for spotting deer and stuff... Just a thought. You can get them at Walmart or Radio Shack.

The only thing that is really popping into my head is a fish finder that can be attached to his boat. Or a deer video camera that he can set up in the woods and see when the deer or other wild life has came through both are under $200 at Walmart. I hope that helps. Good luck to you.

What about accessories to go with the digi? liek a memory card, a nice camera case (the oens they usually give you with the camera suck! lol). Then you can get him some pre paid phot finishing and stuff like that. It's all a bunch of stuff that he'll be able to use.
My uncle is a fishing nut! And last year he didn't do overly well, so as part of his gift this year as a joke and he can use it I bought him stink bait lol I'm totally serious!!!!!!!
Lat year my aunt got my Grandmother (another fishing fiend) some of the nice rod cases from bass pro. There fabulous!!! They have a little place in it for all your nick nacks and nothing gets tangled anymore.

He already has binauculars, the fish finder and all the accessories for the camera. We had thought about a printer dock for the camera, but it would be cheaper for him to just take the card to the drug store to make prints.
DH and I came up with a few other ideas and I sent her an email earlier ...
Engraved gifts are nice ... I got Jr a key chain and money clip a
while back and had it engraved. It had his initials on one side and "I Love
You" on the other. I don't know what else that Dad would use, I don't think
he wears much jewelry.
Is there any movie or show he likes to watch or that you guys watch
together? Maybe get him a DVD? I know he likes the History Channel *ha-ha*
I don't think he buys clothes for himself too much. I know he had mentioned
he needed a couple of new suits. But I don't know how you could get that as a gift since it would have to be tailored. He likes to walk too, maybe a
nice jogging suit and new sneakers?
Now that he is clean shaven, maybe a nice shaver (I don't know what he has
already) or shaving kit with lotions and such?
Maybe you could make him a gift basket with several little gifts and/or
things that are special to the two of you.
I hope she can come up with something good.
Thanks for all your help ladies!
