Has anyone started baking for the holidays yet? I'm going to dip pretzels later today and might pick some stuff up for Chex Mix. I can't wait to go home, my mom has all the recipes!

I don't really do much Christmas baking, unless I decide to bring a dessert to a party. I don't really like premade cookies, I buy the ready to bake dough and make them right before I want some.

I did bake up some cinnamon rolls today. Yum!

When I was in 4-H, I made cinnamon rolls 3 times in one week to practice! I got a blue ribbon them though, and a State Fair consideration. The rolls that actually went though, had icing on them. The rule was that they can't have icing! I was so mad!

I'm actually in the process of dipping pretzels right now. I had to take a break while the first batch is cooling outside on the porch.

That's a whole lot of wrong!

I don't make them from scratch, they are also the pre-made dough in the fridge. LOL And they had icing, I don't like them unless they have icing, although I have not tasted your recipe. :)

They took me a while to make, and I learned to not bake them in a glass dish. They will burn on the bottom if you do :). I will post the recipe sometime.

My children have already went to grandmas last weekend and made bunches of homemade cookies and decorated them. This week coming up we are going to make the gingerbread ones and decorate those. I can't wait

This is the original Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipie from the Fields. Really, really fatening! But, really, really good. How about one cookie once a year? :-) They make great gifts when visiting someone.
Preheat oven at 350 degrees.
Cream
2 Cups of Butter
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Brown Sugar
4 Beaten Eggs
2 Tbls Vanilla
(Mix together)

Seperate Bowl
4 Cups of Flour
5 Cups of Oatmeal (put in blender first until powder)
(Mix together)
Then
1 tspn Salt
2 tspn Baking Powder
2 tspn Baking Soda
(Mix together)
(Mix dry ingredients together)
Add
24 ozs of Chocolate Chips
8 ozs of Plain Hershey Bar (grated)
3 Cups of Chopped Nuts (optional)
(Add to dry ingredients)
(Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients and mix thouroughly)
On an ungreased cookie sheet, spoon out golf ball sized cookie
dough balls onto the sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 11 minutes. Degrees and time can vary depending on the oven.
The original recipie calls for all the best ingredients...no cutting on brand names or such...and they use real butter.

Found this on google I hope it turns out for you let us all know.

So far I have made chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. Today I will make snickerdoodles and snowballs. Then later this week it's kiffles and cut outs. I make all my cookies from scratch. Reminds me of being a kid and helping my mom in the kitchen every christmas.

Kev does all the baking in the hosue. I call him Mr.Crocker lol. He has baking supplies in the kitchen and I don't even know what to do with them. I cook no problem, and I love doign so, but as for baking not gonna happen. Kev's making lemon squares. And these are awesome lemon squares that are super easy to do (apparently lol)

Sry everyone, I haven't been ignoring your posts, I just wasn't able to get on over the weekend. The Internet at home is being weird again. I think this week I'm going to make Chex Mix, more pretzels, banana bread, and cookies. It depends on if I can find my mom's recipes lol.

What are "kiffles"?

Kiffles are made with 4 oz of cream cheese, 1 1/2 cups flour and a stick of butter. mix it up and chill. Then you roll it out like you would for cut out cookies but you cut it into small squares. then you put a little bit of jam in the middle and wrap the dough around it. Bake it at 350 for 15 minutes. When they are cool you sprinkle powederede sugar on them. They are really good. Kinda bland though without the sugar on top.
