Look who came by my inlaws place this afternoon... Santa must have them scouting up here in Canada...

This is Kev's parents backyard. As I mentioned before they live in Northern Ontario in cottage country, so this isn't out of the ordinary, although they got a dog in the spring and the animals have been keeping their distance.

That is awesome! It makes me miss living in Calgary. We lived super close to Fish Creek Park which was a huge wildlife park in the middle of the city and the deer would come up and feast on peoples lawns. lol. It was great as long as they stayed out of the way of the cars!

What beautiful pics Lindsey. I miss seeing deer like that when we lived in the Ozarks of arkansas. Don't see them that often in this part of the state and for sure not in the yard.

Our retirement dream is cottage country. Please make me sick now and tell me that they have a property on the water ....

Well my dear get ready to be sick lol. There property is lake front. They are extremly close to Algonquin park and therefore get all sorts of animals coming and visiting them. But then sgsin there closest neighbour is a 15 min walk away ona good day, and they get snowed in quite often.
I'm going up there on the 29th maybe we'll see some more animals, but we always see shooting stars!

Are they feeding the deer so they can hunt next year??
I know it sounds harsh, but my FIL does that at his house. He will set up a feeding place all around the woods at his house, then next year when they come around for food, they shoot them. I won't allow Joe to hunt with a gun. Only with a Bow. (still sounds bad, but they are great meat!)

Algonquin park is a provincial (or is it National?) and hunting in these parks is illegal!! Thankfully!!!

ETA: After reading Lindsey's post I realize she said near Algonquin Park, so maybe they can hunt! I dunno! lol

No theres no huntin g up there. Kev's parents are big animal lovvers. The onl hunting they do per say is go fishing.
There is no hunting up there. They're literally a walk ffrom the gates of Algonquin park so the same rules apply at there house as does in the park.
I have some pics from the fall up there on my PC. They even get moose visitors in the lake, loons, and tons of chipmunks that even come and eat out of your mouth if you put a peanut in it.

Great picture!
My parents get deer in their backyard all the time. I love seeing them, it's so cool! And no- no one hunts them or feeds them for that purpose. Not anymore anyway. I don't think my dad was much of a hunter anyway now that I'm thinking about it...

Ok I am officially sick. *big pout*

I love that area ... Bancroft ... Maynooth .... and I love Algonquin Park!!!! I used to camp there with my family and I brought my ex there once too. DH isn't a camper but I am working on him. It's so peaceful up there. I just know he would love me.

I think your inlaws should should adopt me because they are living my dream life anyhow! House on a lake in cottage country Ontario. Oh and I am not a hunter ... the only way I would shoot the deer is with a camera!
