It was fantAAAAbulous! (more to follow)

We are home for a just few moments, to pack for our honeymoon.

We spent our wedding night, last night and tonight here - http://www.chateau-vaudreuil.com/ I feel so pampered! Tomorrow morning, we leave for who knows where - he still won't tell me where we are going!

We have asked our friends and family to load our photos here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/serendipitycrafts/sets/72157594264535663/ so if they do as requested, you will see photos before we do!

Sorry ladies, I don't have any photos to share except for teaser that was taken with our camera.

That's it ... the Henry's are off, to only Hugh knows where!

Ok here are the best of the best pro pic proofs (and I use the words "best" & "pro" loosely) that are in focus and that we actually like. We are very dissappointed with the photographic results. We plan to head either back to the church or into a studio, to fake the shots in the near future.

Hugh and I set out on Monday and he took the long & scenic route .... he really had me wondering when the road that we were on ended and we went onto a ferry! We ended up in Picton, Ontario and we stayed at a little country inn called the Waring House - http://www.pec.on.ca/waringhouse/vt21.html. Hugh booked us into the most luxurious private suite; a converted stone ice house which overlooked a vineyard.

We stayed for 3 nights there. We went antique shopping, beach walking (lake Ontario), visited several of the areas wineries & even took in a drive in movie :) On the way home we spent one night at The Sam Jake's Inn http://www.samjakesinn.com/index.aspx in Merrickville, Ontario. We spent the next day antiquing & visiting the areas crafty stores.

We are home now and we still have a week off work. We plan to take a day trip to the Eastern townships of Quebec to do some more antiquing & perhaps to visit another winery or two. We must write our thank you's and I am sure we will still have time to catch up on small projects, get organized and get back to painting!

We have tons and tons of honeymoon pics to post to our Flickr account.

How wonderful!!! How does it feel to be married to your fabulous man?!?!?! :D

To say that it feels "just right" doesn't seem to be enough but, it's what we both feel. What was meant to be, has finally happened.

Our honeymoon pics are finally up (and it only took 4 hours to load and organize them all!) - http://www.flickr.com/photos/serendipitycrafts/sets/72157594267363694/ There are a lot of photos so if you want to get through them quickly, choose to view them as a slide show and adjust the timing so that the pics change quickly.

If anyone wants any more info on where we honeymooned; the picturesque Island of Prince Edward County (named after it's sister island, Prince Edward Island), you can visit this site - http://pec.on.ca/Welcome.html Although we didn't go swimming (too many wineries to visit), the beaches are amazing - fine fine white sand (and so close to home!).

Back when Hugh and I first "re-met", we started a little tradition. Whenever we stay at a hotel, we set our camera on a table, set the camera to timer and we both run for the bed to take the pic. It's such a goofy thing to do but honestly, our best pictures have been taken in such a manner (probably because we are laughing so hard at ourselves). Here are the two we remembered to take ....

Not sure if it will be tomorrow or the next day but we are off to NB.

Hugh's dad came out of surgery last Monday and was doing well. His brother was just there to see him and returned yesterday. His brother called us tonight to tell us that his father's pre-surgery infection (which was treated and had cleared up) has come back and he isn't doing so well now. :(

I pray that it's all worry for noting but we aren't going to take any chances. Better to go .....

Forgot to post pics of the cake & our wedding program.

Our friend baked the cake (creamsicle with cointreau infused orange curd in between the layers) & Hugh helped make the butterfly decorations. My friend added the fondant and then she brought it over to us partially decorated. I rearranged & added the decorations.

Here are some pics taken the night before the wedding. We put two butterflies onto wires and put them into the cake just before it was displayed.

http://www.serendipity-crafts.com/images/WeddingCake.jpg

Note - the empty cointreu glass beside me? LOL That was all I consumed before my 7:30 pm wedding too. Nummies!

We left for NB on Tuesday, drove 12 hours but didn't make it in time to visit on Tuesday. We went to the hospital to visit Hugh's dad on Wed. only to find out that he was being released the next day (TG!). He's minus a kidney and a gallbladder but there is no more infection and he's on the road to recovery.

It was good for Hugh to have been able to follow him home and have a chance to spend the Friday helping him and Mom settle in. :)

I am so excited. I just ordered a little mini me and mini Hugh cake topper, for Christmas! They are just too cute & soooooooooo detailed! Yeah yeah I know I don't need a cake topper now that I am married but I will put them on display in my curio cabinet.

This woman I found, makes these little guys to look just like the bride and groom, out of polymer clay. They can be used for a cake topper and then put on display after the wedding. I can't wait to see what she comes up with for DH & I.

Check out her gallery - she has guys in pin striped suits, does the lacing on the back of wedding dresses. I was really impressed with the guy in the kilt -

Something like that .... except it will be a version of mini me & mini Hugh. I sent the artist her pics of what we wore, the decorations and of my flowers. I have even asked her to put a tiny little butterfly on my bouquet :)

LOL I am just way too excited. DH and I won't be having any more kids so maybe we can just name these two and pretend LOL

My boss has made it possible for me to work at home today so that I can also paint. It's a mess of wires, computers and phones but if this works out, I may be able to do it more often. Wish me luck!

My home computer is on the desk. My own telephone is on the table.
I am hooked to the office via the laptop and I have an IP phone in behind the lap top so that I can receive business calls. With that said, the phone doesn't seem to be working right yet, so I have transferred all my calls to my coworker. LOL I wonder how long it will take for him to catch on.

It's snowing .... argh!

Freezing rain & high winds, on Friday night resulted in a loss of cable (tv & internet) for almost 24 hours. I guess we should count ourself lucky as the people across the street (see pic) lost their power for almost as long!

Anyhow .... here are some big fluffy snowflakes for those of you that don't see em. By January, the snow should be piled nice and high ... grrr!

I have no plans to go out anyhow .... still painting with no end in sight! This is what my dining room table looks like. LOL I can't remember the last time we actually ate at the table. Note the dying plant at the back of the table :(

Whoa what a weekend it has been. No different from any other weekend since we got back from our honeymoon really. All I do is paint, paint, paint! Hugh has been roped into helping as well. He's not quite as quick as I am (yet) but he's been a big help!

I hated to do it but we had to post a message on our website saying that we couldn't take any more holiday orders. As it is now, I hope we can finish up soon so that we can decorate.

Then again, we might just skip the decorating thing this year because Hugh and I are checking into last minute, all inclusive vacation deals to somewhere warm. My mother asked what we were doing for Christmas because my brother asked her. I figured she asked because she didn't want to accept any offer, just in case we were going to visit with her. So ....... DH and I talked it over and then talked with her and wherever we end up, my mother will be joining us. Should be interesting. :)

Mom has just turned 80 and she's not into beach sitting or lounging by the pool bar so we figured that if we found a deal to go to Mexico then at least we could do some sight seeing as well. Wish us luck!

We have been to Cuba and unless we got an all inclusive near to Havana, I don't think there is much to do besides the pool bar & the beach. I don't think she will be horse back riding or snorkeling. Has anyone been to the Dominican Republic? Is there anything interesting to do there?

Jenn060306
12-11-2006, 01:31 PM
I've been to the dominican. It's very nice. My parents just left this morning for the mayan riviara in Mexico. They've gone back a couple times now because it is so great. They did the snorkling and there is a really neat lazy river type thing, plus all the ruins. They said their trip was $2200 CDN round trip at an all inclusive resort.

I hope you have a wonderful time! Good luck picking, it's definatly hard to choose!

Congrats, it really sounds like your plate business is taking off. Is there any way you would think of hiring other painters so you could continue to fill more orders in the future?

A Christmas vacation sounds so fun! Good luck with that, I have never been to the Dominican Republic, try looking it up on the web or contact a travel agent and see what there is to do. I thought many all inclusive resorts had lots to do and I have also heard many good things about the Mayan ruins in Mexico. Does she enjoy fishing, sailing or snorkeling?

She's 80 LOL Oh I am sure she would give her right arm to go golfing but I don't think she's physically able to do it any longer (she has had shoulder surgery). She's not into sitting on the beach, lounging by the pool or shopping till you drop, so we have to find someplace that has historical areas to explore.

As far as the business goes, that's a hard one because most every order that we get is a custom order and of course, everyone needs it yesterday. :) Maybe I can find someone who could enter the orders, pack the stuff, enter electronic shipping info & then follow up with the tracking of the shipments. It's amazing how much time that this can take up.

DH and I have talked it through and we feel that we can take a bit of a risk. We are aiming to get through this season in one piece, and then I am going to talk to my boss in the New Year about working part time. If I can spend just a day or two more running the business, it would be a great help.

Just f-in Wonderful!

DH just got a call from a provincial gov. It would seem that his ex has contacted them about her "spousal support".

In their separation agreement he agreed to pay the mortgage on the house until -

1. she got married or 2. an another adult moved into the house or 3. for 10 years.

She recently sold the house in June 06 and moved in with her parents. She told him she was getting married in July 06. As such, because there was no mortgage to make payments on, he stopped paying the spousal support. He continued and still continues to pay child support.

He let her have everything ... the car, the house (with no claim to splitting profits of it, if it was sold) and the contents of the house. He got only his clothes and a few personal effects. She didn't even give him his **** tools!

She emailed him in August (right before our wedding of course) to say that she didn't get married and that support should continue. We ignored her.

No details yet, but I guess the gov. agrees with her because they left a VM for DH at work. He can't call them back for details because he doesn't have a "long distance" code for the phone! grrrrrrrrrr

There goes our f-in holiday.

Hopefully they will understand the situation a bit clearer when Hugh gets a chance to call them back.

Geez she is a real case. I don't see how he should continue paying for a house she no longer owns. And as for the spousal support how long has it been now? I am sorry this has ruined your plans for the holiday. Hang in there, what goes around comes around as they say. Wishing you both the best.

I am not holding my breath. Have you never had a chance to go up against the government?

And as for the spousal support how long has it been now?

Just under 6 years.

He wanted to pay the mortgage so that his kids would be guaranteed a place to live. Now they have both moved out of the house (college and university) and the house is sold.

As you can see, I haven't calmed down any. I am so livid I can't think straight. Why does she need support? She works full time. She has the proceeds from the sale of the house. She has the car. She is not paying rent. WTF - does she want him to pay for her wedding too?

If it got rid of her and all the payments Hugh would probably be more than happy to pay for her wedding. He!! he would probably help find her a new hubby with his blessings.

Oh her next doormat is already lined up. I wonder how long she will be able to push this new one around before he walks out. They are going to be married in Mar. 2007. I want to paint them ONE very very special signature platter but DH doesn't think it would be a very good idea.

The ironic twist ... the guy she is marrying shares the same name as my ex.

That is exactly what courts and settlements are for. She may have put some sort of spin on the situation when she made the complaint. Hugh should reread the divorce settlement and if it really is exactly as you say it is, then all he has to do is show the government that. As a last resort contact the lawyer who handled the divorce and let them explain it to the government agency. Don't get yourself too upset yet.

*WARNING - the words I am about to write should be taken with a grain of salt but also contain an element of truth & bitter sarcasm*

Word of advice to all those ladies who have only been married once - If you ever even day dream about getting a divorce stop yourself! Agree to dissagree, agree to live separate lives, smother him in his sleep with a pillow, ruin him financially, have an affair if you have to but never ever ever get divorced!!!!

I am just hoping that her lawyer didn't find some sort of loophole or ommission in the agreement. It's so not fair ... DH is such a stand up good guy who has never shirked his responsibilities. He gave her everything and it still isn't enough. She has to have his blood too!

We were just seeing a little light at the end of that long long financial tunnel & we wanted to reward ourselves a bit by blowing some $$$ on the Christmas vacation. We can't possibly spend the money now .... just in case we have to pay more lawyer fees, have to pay retroactive spousal etc.

Why the hell does she want him to support her anyways? i'd not want someone elses husband to be able to say that he provides for me?? Over here the house is normally claled tha 'family home' once thats gone then so are the payments - but i suppose all places are different - i know ur both obviously worried but try to keep calm until uve at least checked it out with lawyers etc. Good luck with it xxx

Well good news maybe. DH talked to the lady at the court. It would seem that in typing or transposing the application for the court, the wording was transposed. Instead of reading that the monies DH paid are to be paid for the mortgage (as stated in their sep. agreement) it somehow changed to the monies were to be paid for spousal support.

Wonders of all wonders - the woman at the courthouse agreed with him! She is not going to do anything with this application until she has talked to the people in her legal department. She feels that this can be cleared up without fuss or worry but just in case, she told DH to seek a separate legal opinion but not to worry about it needing to be done right now. After the new year is what she suggested.

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't see any reason for this to be paid. She can work like the rest of us. In my opinion spousal support is for the lazy, good for nothings out there.

That's just the thing! She told us she was getting married in July, then in the fall, and now we find out that it's going to be in March of 07. She works FT. She has the proceeds from the house and the last we heard she was living with her parents now that the house was sold and the kids are gone. I can't believe 1. that she thinks she should be entitled to DH's money or 2. that her new sap is letting her live off her ex. What kind of man is he?

I don't know about the vacation any longer. We are still a bit nervous about spending the money.

To make matters worse ... things just keep getting more complicated. My son says that he is coming our way to spend Christmas at his aunt's with his dad. I have no idea if my daughter will go too because the last I heard she wanted to be with her BF. My son wants to visit with us after Christmas.

Meanwhile, DH's daughter wants to come visit with us after Christmas before she has to go back to school. Oh yes, and DH's parents want us to visit them in Toronto at his brother's place. Does any one of these people realize that given that there is a minimum driving time of 5 hours to the closest location, we still can't in all places at one time?

Obviously he isn't much of a man at all IMO. Most men would want their fiances to fend and learn how to take care of themselves.

I too would be nervous about the vacation and spending the money, you wouldn't want to say later on "if we only had not done that................"

Talk about a putting salt into the wound. I just got my Visit Scotland newsletter today. It's not a hot beach but I have always wanted to go to Scotland for New Years & go "first footing" with my cousin.

Spend your first night in the Jurys Inn Hotel in Glasgow or the Apex European Hotel in Edinburgh, then select your own accommodations for the next 2 or more nights in Discover B&Bs located throughout the country. You have the option to upgrade to an automatic car and private bath B&Bs or of course you may choose to stay a longer time. The Air-inclusive package is priced from $599

If the clerk at the court admits to making a mistake I don't forsee too many problems that would require large amounts of money. I don't really understand why you would need a lawyer, if it was a simple typing error.

Yeah, now that I think about it, I guess it could get a little messy if the final, notarized decree said 'spousal support' and Hugh signed it. Then he has to prove that the previous draft is really the correct information, so then it comes down to a he said, she said situation. But if the clerk will come forward and say that she messed it up then she is the tie breaker, and problem may be solved easily. I really hope the latter case is what happens.

Scotland does sound a little cheaper than a Mexican resort with air fare and everything.

Thanks! I think so too of course but then again, I am highly biased.

The co's stand is that everyone is more themselves & enjoys themselves more without their spouse but if you ask me, it's just because they are 1. cheap or 2. trying to avoid an incident (something happened years ago between one man's wife and and an employee - or so the rumour goes).

To be fair, they do put on a "family day" in the spring but I have never been able to go (it's always the same weekend as one of our craft shows.

I am DONE!!!!!!!!!!!! The last plate has been painted and my customer has just picked it up. :) Phewwwww & Whoooooooosh!

Of course, it's near impossible to predict how busy (or not) we will be but I can't believe what a wild ride we had this season. It's a good thing that we aren't staying at home because I would only be able to start the decorating & baking as of tonight.

DH has taken his daughter (she's visiting until Sat.) to the movies and so, I have the apt., the tv, and the computers to myself! LOL funny but all I want to do is lie down and take a nap :)

My daughter called the other night. She wants to visit the first week in January. If my son doesn't have any hockey tournaments or games, he will be coming too. She is spending this Christmas at her BF's mom's place, because she has to work the day before and the day after. Her Dad and his GF are coming my way for Christmas to spend it with his family here.

Anyhow ..... I guess my daughter noticed differences between how his mother celebrates the holidays (or doesn't as seems to be the case) and how I do it so, she so she commented it. She mentioned my home made cookies, the fully decorated tree, the music (that she can't stand but now can't live without), the Christmas crackers, the Christmas breakfasts and the good china, crystal and silverware set out on a decorated table for Christmas dinner. All these things and more are part of my standard Christmas.

I have always stressed myself out making Christmas special for my family and some years I wondered if it really worth it at all. I remember holidays when my kids would complain about eating turkey instead of hot dogs, when cookies were scarfed down seemingly without being tasted, when they argued with each other and fussed all the way through the holiday or when I could see their obvious dissappointment over their gifts received. Since I don't get see them every Christmas any longer, I have also wondered if they missed my "style" of Christmas when they are not with me.

Without knowing it, my daughter gave me the best gift (and without spending a dime!) I can't tell you how happy it makes me to know that she did notice all those things after all. Awwww!

My mother is right. Moms aren't appreciated until their children are old enough to know and see all there is to appreciate about their Mom!

Glad to hear you have finally gotten all your plates finished. It sounds like you were pretty busy this season, which is awesome.

I bet it is wonderful for your daughter to say those things to you. I know there are things my Mom did when I was a child, that I never appreciated until I was an adult and had kids of my own. And now that I have children, I see the same things in them that you saw in yours. In the end, it is all worth it to give the tradition, as they will use some of them as they get older, and incorperate their own. Things will be passed down for generations that you did. How cool is that?

Congrats on getting all the plates done. Until next time LOL

AWWWW..... How sweet is that, that your daughter misses your little traditions that you have done for years. I'm sure your heart is swelling with pride as it should be.

I know what you mean in a way with my children yet they are not on their own. They do enjoy some of the traditions that I used to do as a child. Even though my son turned 13 this year. He was still willing to get into the kitchen with mom and make some homemade cookies and decorate them. (Even after his friend told him that cooking was for girls) Well I wanted to grab the phone and tell his little friend off, that some of the best cooks are men but I refrained myself. Also 1 year my mom's sister wanted to use paper plates for Christmas dinner and I lost it I was like "This is not some summer picnic and we are using my mom's china from the hutch" I am doing the dishes and that is that lol.. Ok sorry total hijack there I didn't mean it.

Off to see the kids tonight. We really wanted them to come to see us but 1. the ex said he "didn't feel like" driving them to the train and 2. DD has to work tonight and Sunday afternoon.

Plan B - We thought it might be different to take the kids to a hotel with a pool or take them someplace other than Grandma's (since we have just spent a week plus with her anyhow) but Mom phoned today to tell me that something is wrong with her leg and that she has been ordered to bed for 48 hours.

So ........ looks like we are off to pick up the kids, go to Grandma's and take care of her for the weekend or until she gets the homecare into the house that she is trying to arrange today.

The good news is that we will be celebrating Christmas with my kids. Maybe we can bring in some ever so traditional take out food and make it somehow festive LOL

On a sad note - Mom was speaking to her sister today and apparently my cousin has been brought into the hospital. He has had a tracheotomy. I was really hoping that he would be able to spend his last days at home.

LOL I was being facetious but honestly, I would be surprised if she did find this place. I hear she has trouble tying her shoelaces (just my sarcasm again).

If she does show ... you will know her because she will be marrying a man that she will claim she met at work but she was actually married to my nephew.

She will refer to my kids as "my kids" but then she will claim that step kids are the best kind to have because she won't ever have to change diapers and she will get to keep her good figure (gag!). The real reason she won't ever have her own kids is because my ex was fixed and it's not reversible after all this time.

Well then it's a good thing she doesn't have any of her own children out there. Some people really shouldn't have their own offspring. It's cruel to the rest of us.

OK I am so excited .... but DH is telling me not to get too hopeful (so I don't get disappointed once again) but I can't help but get excited.

K background. Post secondary education is free in Quebec - all there is to pay are some student fees, books and supplies. In that I am paying for most of my daughter's her college education (she is paying the rest), I would really like it if my DD would go to school here. BUT the problem so far has been that she wants to be near her BF.

Ok so I am stupid .... but I told her that if they could both find a course of study here that suited them (not necessarily the same one), then he could also move to Montreal with her, so as to take advantage of the low cost education. There would be rules of course - separate bedrooms, they both have to follow a full time course of study and they will be helping us around the house and with our business. A part time job is also a must.

Well .... freak me out, she is actually considering it! She's been asking questions and so has he. We found a super cabinet making course for him, and DD is interested in attending the same college that DH & I did. She wants to take graphic design just like we did :)

Cross your fingers .... I may be sorry, but I so miss having her around that I am willing to take him as well if I have to.

Of course if this is going to happen, DH and I will finally have a reason to look for a bigger place. Who knows maybe we will even get bold enough to buy again. LOL

Oh BTW - I know a teacher at the trade school and so, I was asking him about the courses. I must say that I am rather surprised at the low cost & the course lengths.

The cabinet making course is ONLY 55 weeks long ($200) and apparently the graduates are almost all placed afterwards with one of three aerospace companies (working on the cabinetry for private jets). There is a furniture renfinishing course of study as well for 38 weeks ($85). Graduates can then go on to complete an aprenticeship for 2-5 years and get government approved RED SEAL which makes them a Master of their trade. This makes them eligible to teach and lets them work anywhere in the country.

That is great news! I hope it works out for them! I wish college was more affordable here, the tuition prices are insane! For a regular state school, tuition alone is around $10,000 per semester and that does not include living expenses, fees or books! Private schools can run double or triple that and I won't even mention ivy league schools! LOL

Have a great weekend with your kids!

Shannon just text messaged me .... they got onto the train without incident. :) :)

No calls from their Dad to say he missed the train. No calls to say the reservation wasn't found. Wow .... this has got to be a first.

The only glitch in the plan is that my coworker doesn't have enough work for the both of my kids. I can do one of 2 things ....

1. Let DD work one day & DS work the other
or
2. Let DS work both days because he asked about it first and made the arrangements with me. DD on the other hand, just called me last night to say she wanted to come. I could also have DD work with me & pa her (although not as much as my coworker is planning to pay the kid!) to do a **** load of filing and straightening up the stock around here.

Hugh's suggestion was that we pay either one of them to bake cookies!

I won't even mention ivy league schools! LOL

We do have our own Canadian versiona of an Ivy League Universities. The one in Montreal is called McGill.

The colleges are gov. subsidized but students do have to pay for University. If my DD was to live with us, was to choose to go to this University and was accepted .... the kicker is that the tuition would be next to nothing as compared to some community colleges in other parts of the country.

It's the foreign students that really get nailed to the wall. I do not know how they or their families can afford to send them abroad.

What is the difference bet. college and university? Here, those words are synonymous.

College gets you a diploma (2-3 years normally). University gets you a bachelor degree, a masters degree or a doctorate. In many cases, a college diploma is all that is needed especially, if you are following a "career path". Sometimes, college is just a stepping stone to University.

Trade schools are normally a method to achieve a professional card in a trade.

I chose college. I graduated with a diploma in Visual Arts / Graphic Design. There are university graphics programs but to be honest, many college courses have better reputations the university equivalents and a degree is not needed to land a job. In this case, a portfolio is the most important thing.

Well the weekend passed in a blur. It's already Tuesday for goodness sake ...

We drove DS downtown to work Sat. morning. We got got a call from DD on our way home .... she wanted to know when we would get back because she wanted to go shopping (I expected her to still be sleeping). Hugh opted out of our shopapalooooza (Hugh's word) adventure so we left him and hit the shops.

We went to Costco, a mega art supply store, an electronics store and a kitchen supply warehouse. DD came home with 2 pairs of jeans, everything she needs to start water colour painting (brushes, paint, water colour paper), & some body wash. I was surprised to find my son, at home watching a Bond movie. Turns out that they didn't have work for him because a machine broke down. I offered to pay him instead to organize my supply room and he refused so DD took over. She moved stuff, organized stuff and even cleaned so she got the money.

Sat night, we went out for dinner and saw "Happy Feet" after that. 3 so so thumbs up ... my son tolerated it.

Sunday started off a bit later. I tried my best to get some painting done but it was near impossible to get anything accomplished with the kids around LOL I finally gave up & the rest of the day was spent doing a few errands and exchanging one of the pair of jeans for another size.

DD tells me that her BF is very interested in the Montreal course. I hope this means that they are both seriously considering my offer. I am not going to mention it again for a few weeks.

No matter how hard we plan ahead, we got the kids to the train "just in time". If nothing else, I am stressing out so much that I have less time to think about them leaving again and so I don't get worked up.

Monday morning, I head into work only to find that our offices were robbed over the weekend. They stole my computer and a coworkers but it looks like they didn't have any time to get the other computers in our offices.

Thank goodness, we work off of a network and so I didn't lose any data. One blessing was that the phone didn't ring too too many times .... and I managed to get all my 2006 filing done (I absolutely hate filling!).

Up until now, we have had it pretty good as far as the weather was concerned but on Monday we had our first "real snow storm". About 7" fell and everything was covered in a blanket of white.

While at work, Hugh looked out his window and noticed that his coworker's car was covered and so DH had a little photoshop fun, at his coworkers expense. He emailed him this pic. The subject header was - I would rather be skiing (his coworker is a skiing nut) but I am stuck at the office.

It's only like that for a handful of days each winter. Today it's -7C but the sun is shining and there is no wind so it's quite pleasant to be outside. On my way to work this morning, I was actually thinking how nice it would be to be skiing today.

The cold isn't the problem ... it's the wind. The wind can make it feel colder than it actually is. You get more rain than we do, I think. I bet the humidity affects how cold it feels as well.

Come on .... we'll head up north, don our ski bunny outfits - a down filled jacket, a touque and some thermal gloves. It's not about the skiing at all ... it's about how good you look :) We'll sign you up for some lessons with a cute ski instructor and after a few runs, we'll do some "apres ski" drinking (mulled wine is my fav!) in the lodge by the big roaring fire .... you'll love it.

We'll give everyone some time to get one. Speaking of which, I have to renew mine soon .... you never know when we will want to take a day trip across the border.

They were talking about the line ups at our passport offices today. One office was reporting a 3 hour wait just to see an agent and their passport would only be processed & ready in about a month, month and a half. That is really cutting it close for anyone wanting to go south on their spring break.

I picked DH up from work yesterday and he told me that his boss has been reassigned (her choice). So, who is getting her job, I ask. Dunno he answers.

Now ...she does a heck of a lot of spread sheets and paper pushing which is something that he doesn't want to do at all, but she also had her say in the creative (even though he's supposed to have final approval on artwork). The co. is restructuring so perhaps they will split her job into two and he oversee all the creative and someone else will get the paperwork?! Crossing my fingers.

The co. is having a "family" day this Sat. so DH thinks it is especially important to attend. He told me that it will be an opportunity for me to meet the "big guys".

LOL I told him that I was looking forward to it & that I was going to break out my skankiest dress and don some fishnet stockings. I asked him if it would be ok to bring my hip flask. He didn't think I was very funny.

Cool! We don't have moose here! I wish we did. They are pretty animals. I don't even know if I've ever seen a moose. Maybe in a zoo or something. We do have lots of deer though!

The last thing you would want to see, especially if it was hitting your windshield is a moose - hence the reason for all the fencing. I really can't get over how much fence there is. So many many miles of it. It must have taken years to put up!

I also wonder how the moose & deer know where the highway underpasses are LOL

They are sign posted!!! hee hee

And that is exactly what I started teasing Hugh about. There is nothing to look at for miles and so I asked him ....

Do you think the moose can read the signs? Ahhhhhhhh they are pictograms ... surely that would make sense to a moose!

How do they know to go through the underpass? How far apart is each underpass?

Why are their doors in the fencing? Do you think the moose have figured out how to open them yet?

Do you think any moose have figured out that if they go up the highway a few hundred miles that they will be able to cross the highway because there is no fence there?

What happens if there is a forest fire? Is there an underpass stampede? Betcha the bunnies and chipmunks just pass through the fence and thumb their noses at the moose.

I wonder if all the moose in North America know that New Brunswick is home to a "Moose Alcatraz".

What if Mr. Moose sees an elegant looking Miss Moose on the other side of the highway. Do you think he can figure out how to get over there?

And so the questions continued ..... LOL it was a 12 hour drive - I had to do something to amuse myself!

Lol they need that fencing in Northern alberta near Grande Prairie. when we were living up there we were driving home and a mouse just bounced right infront of our truck and across the road!! Matt and I were so stunned, we'd never seen one do that before!! And it jumped a fence with so little effort it was amazing! lol

The fences are a tad taller in NB. I was trying to find a pic of them tonight but to no avail ... apparently it cost the NB gov. 2.5 million dollars to put up 300 kms of fencing.

That was me the night before ..... although I wasn't feeling down and I was drinking wine.

Last night we saw the movie, "Cars". OK I know we are behind (we haven't rented movies in ages!) but I loved it!

Good Sunday morning to you .... (LOL edited to add) It's actually the afternoon - where did the morning go!?

As many of you know, our wedding photographs were less than wonderful and so, Hugh and I were thinking of creating a Hugh & Elizabeth "video story" using the wedding photographs that we do have, video clips of the wedding and some past photographs of our children, siblings and parents.

Hugh, found this lovely piece of music today .... and I think it would be the perfect background to the images we want to put together. Have a listen and tell me what you think?

Go to http://www.networkmusic.com and click to enter. Do a quick search for "Coming of Age" and then just click on the title, to play.

I am seeing the images in my minds eye .... :)

Oh ..... Hugh just found another music piece ... do a search for Simple Gifts. It may not be as appropriate but it's so pretty!

"Coming Of Age" is so very beautiful. I think it is an excellent choice for your project.

I found 2 songs for "Simple Gifts" one is a jazz song and the other was similar to a folksong type melody (it seems so familiar, yet I can't put my finger on it).

Anyway, of all 3 I like "Coming Of Age" the best by far. It has such an epic quality to it.

And you think we WON'T show it off??? LOL

Not to worry ... we will figure out a way to load it to our website .. in quick time perhaps? It will be similar to that highschool video trailer that Hugh did ... pictures mixed in with movie clips.

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves ... we have to figure out what is wrong with Hugh's external hard drive and have it fixed or buy him another one. We don't have enough room on either computer to load all the video footage so we haven't been able to download it off the little itty bitty tape. :( I haven't seen a bit of it yet.

Oh .... another thing - Since our photography wasn't so hot and since I don't have even one picture to frame because of it .... we are looking into is having a wedding portrait painted of us.

I happened upon a web site (turns out that they are a local company) that offers oil paintings done from a photograph. They guarantee that it's hand done ... and the price isn't all that bad either. I will post a link later (it's on my computer at home). We are also planning to visit them in person to see their examples first hand.

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Grow Old With Me. Pretty tune. Would make a nice wedding dance song.

Feelin all warm and fuzzy now :) :soppy: :grinhappy: :whoohoo:

Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love
Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
God bless our love
God bless our love

Ok well this past weekend was lotsa fun *insert sarcastic tone here* LOL

We drive 5 hours after work on Fri. to see my mom & my kids. My kids were already at my mom's but we had to stop off at my ex's house (which meant going out of our way a little bit) to pick up my DD's bag because she didn't have clothes with her.

In the morning, we got up and drove another 2 hours into TO to visit with Hugh's brother. While we were there, DS needs to use the bathroom so he goes upstairs. He was missing for quite some time and while I sat chatting in the kitchen with my SIL & DD, water started to come through the pot lights in the ceiling. The toilet had overflowed and my son was too embarassed to call for help so he tried to mop, plunge and fix it on his own. Needless to say .... he wasn't successful.

DD had some "issues" with her Dad's GF and so the text messages were flying a mile a minute between Dad's GF and back to her BF. I am not sure she even noticed that it was raining in the kitchen.

We left there to drive back to my mom's. We had planned to go out for dinner and then a movie but DD asks us to pick up her BF so we swing by his house and end up taking him out too. The food was just "so so" and so we vow not to go to Chicken Chalet ever again.

In the morning .... my son had a hockey game at 7:30 am so we had to get up at *eeeeek* 5:30 to get him there. We slept through the alarm but thank goodness, my mother was up early so she woke us up at 6:00 and so we had to boot it to pack & get to the arena in time.

So, we get to the arena and there is my ex sitting in the parking lot. He was there to bring DS's hockey equipment to the arena BUT he was the only other car in the parking lot.

DS calls his coach ... coach says "Didn't you get the message? The game was cancelled. I called your Dad's GF and left a voice mail."

So ....... we were on the road at 7:30 .... heading back to Montreal. We ended up napping the afternoon away.

OMG! Now that is a crazy weekend! I don't understand why the coach would call the Dad's GF of all people and not make similar calls to the Dad, you or your son if he has his own phone (as many do these days).

I hope the toilet got fixed, that is terrible. Raining toilet water in the kitchen, gross!

I have no idea ... perhaps the home phone was forwarded to her cell? Either way, apparently my ex didn't get the message either (and they live together)!

DS doesn't have a cell & the coach doesn't have my number because DS lives with his Dad.
