Hello everyone and welcome to my planning journal!

Right now I'm in the midst of planning our wedding for June 2, 2007. It seems pretty daunting- those checklists are freaking me out!! So far, I think we've got the major things down like the color scheme and what not. We'll see how things go!

A little bit about each of us:
I'm Elizabeth (obviously LOL) and I'm 20 years old. I've been living in southern California my entire life and I absolutely love it here. I'm attending the University of California-Irvine for my undergraduate degree in marketing. My mother is Portugese and my father is Dutch. I have two older siblings, Chelsea and Alex, and a younger sister named Zoe.

Steve, my fiance, is 23 years old and a graduate of UC-Irvine as well. He was a finance major and is currently slaving away at his job. He moved to California when he was 10 years old from Oregon. Steve is 100% German and has two older brothers named Henry and Christian.

Alright, I won't bore you all too long with this stuff. So I'll be as short as possible.

Steve and I met on December 31, 2004 at my friend's New Years Eve party. My friends boyfriend at the time was friends with Steve, so he was a guest as well. A little bit before midnight he came over and we started talking. When the clock struck 12 he kissed me.

At the end of June 2006 Steve and I headed off to Hawaii for a little relaxation and vacation time. The last thing on my mind was getting engaged, so I was completely oblivious to his sneaky little plans. Our last night there, June 27th, we ate dinner at this really great restaurant and then headed down to the beach to take a walk. As we were walking, watching the sun set, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was beyond shocked and through my tears managed to get out a yes.

I'm glad to see that you've started a journal. It's really cool to look at it a month from now and say to yourself "I've done a lot!!!" It's also nice to let some people into your planning and they can share their ideas.
Can't wait to see what else you come up with!

Kev and I got engaged in June, and I had no idea of anythign when that happend. Now on the other hand I have 9 months to go and I'm on a role. You don't see it until you have a bunch of little things to look at or until you look at things and say "WOW!"
Kev used to like looking at my journal, to see what "we" (actually me) had been planning so far, but he can't anymore cause there's a pic of my dress. He tells me that I ruined it lol

I lived in Hawaii off and on growing up, and that used to be my dream engagement! Waikiki beach at sunset. All the tiki torches lit. Whata wonderful story! You'll be able to tell your grandchildren all about that! Plus set them up for a dream of their own.

We do have something major set and ready to go: the locations!!

Our ceremony location is very unique and just gorgeous. It's outdoors, but covered by a tent right in the middle of a bunch of trees and gardens. I wish I had some pictures to post but I'll have to remember that when I visit again! I need to book some sort of officiant as soon as possible.

It took me a while to decide on a reception location. I looked at about 8 places before I finally decided to book our indoor reception at the grand ballroom of The Island Hotel. Our reception will be 5 hours with a cocktail hour, open bar, 3 or 5 course meal, and added desserts (chocolate fountain, ice cream bar, cakes/pastries, etc.).

Isn't she lucky??!! We went to Big Island and maui for our honey moon, it was wonderful and had actually planned another trip for January back to Maui and then Kaui, until....I found out I am pregnant! lol

Do you have a honey moon destination picked out yet?? Back to Hawaii or somewhere else??

Congrats on your pregnancy!!!!! We have a few honeymoon locations that we're looking into, but since we've already been to Hawaii I'd like to go somewhere new. It's between Barbados, Jamaica, and the British Virgin Islands.

Those all sound like nice places. A few of the ladies have been to Jamaica and have quite liked it! Whatever you choose, it will be fantastic though because you'll be on your just married high!! :D

That sounds like it'll be beautiful!!!! We're goign to have our ceremony in a beautiful atrium, so I hear you on the out doors feel.
I know this sounds funny, but if you don't have a minister that you use or your family does have you considered something called "rent a rev"? My Mom used one for her second marriage. The guy was fabulous and it was a lot cheaper. Just start talking to different people and see what's up. The minister we're using does our funerals, and he always said "don't you people have any happy occasions?" So that's why we're using him lol.
Having your places booked is a BIG step!!! So don't feel like you've barely doen anything. Having it all booked it a big branch of your wedding planning tree. Other things grow right off of it, and you'll be suprised how quickly and easily it'll be to plan that aspect.
and BTW... Your reception area looks FABULOUS! Very elegant and classy.
Have you decided on a theme or colours or what not?

Welcome to the group ElizabethV!!! Your ring is beautiful, it has kindof a vintage kick to it, looks like it anyway. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Keep it going, it will help in the end. And don't hesitate asking questions. That is what these ladies are here for!!!

Congrats to you!!

Just wait until you are two months away, and it seems like forever, then it's the day before and you can't believe how fast time has gone by.

ElizabethV.

The overall color scheme is going to be different shades of pink ranging from pale to darker pinks and of course white.

I didn't go into this with a specific theme in mind, but the more that I research and look at our locations I realized that I want something very romantic. Since the ceremony is very outdoorsy and I love flowers, I'm thinking of doing some type of an enchanted forest theme. Is that stupid? LOL I don't really know what I'd do with it but it sounds nice!

kevinsbride2B
11-28-2006, 12:34 AM
I love pink! That's our colour. We're going for a light pink, black, silver theme.
It's crazy how you find things as you go along and boom your in love with an idea.
Your getting there don't sweat it. things will all come into place!

I had no classes today and was suppose to work all day, but I decided to take a much needed day off. So I spent most of the day calling vendors and I feel like I've gotten so much accomplished.

Steve and I still haven't decided if we want a a band/DJ but unless I find a good band by the beginning of next week, I'm going to book a DJ because the longer I wait the harder its going to be to find someone available!

I love how the silver contrasts the pinks here. The flowers look so full.

I like the white chaircovers with the pink bows. But if I chose to do something like this I wouldn't have the ribbon running so low.

Shasta's are so pretty. Just be careful if you plan to carry them through your wedding ideas onto bouteniers. My friend got married and the colour and the tux she matched it with looked HORRIBLE!!!!!
Very nice choices though my dear!

We started off with a huge wedding party and in our heads had chosen the 8 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, maid of honor, best man, flower girl, and ring bearer. I ordered some really adorable stationary to ask all of them, but we decided earlier this week to cut it down to just 3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, a maid of honor, a best man, a flower girl, and a ring bearer. Keeping it to just our best friends is a lot easier when it came down to it because I don't want to make people feel excluded and I think the smaller I keep it the better.

Bridesmaids:
1. Kelly- She's been my best friend since middle school.
2. Taryn- I met her my first year of college and she's become one of my best friends.
3. Zoe- She's my younger sister.

Maid of Honor:
Alexandra- She's who hosted the party that Steve and I met at. She's a really great mutual friend, one of my best friends, and since she's the reason we got together I think it's appropriate to have her as my maid of honor.

Groomsmen:
1. Chris- Steve's best friend from high school.
2. Kyle- Another one of Steve's best friends.
3. Tom- His younger cousin...they're very close, Steve is like his big brother.

Best Man:
Jack- Him and Steve have been best friends since high school started.

Flower Girl:
Tatiana- My cousin Michael's daughter.

Ring Bearer:
Caiden- My cousin Michael's son.

These are some of my make up and hair inspirations. I'm getting my hair and make up professionally done.

Make-Up Artist: Michelle Fryer
Hairstylist: Furioso Salon

Make-Up: I definitely want the smoky eye and light lip look. It looks the best on me so I'm not going to mess with that!

Hair: I want my hair half up and half down with loose pretty curls.

I love this eye make up, but there is way too much blush.

Wonderful choice for your makeup I don't blame you I wouldn't want to mess up the smoky look either.
