Hi all! thought i'd start my wedding journal! I wasnt going to bother for a while because the wedding is soooooo far off but what the heck, might as well!! Need someone to moan to and get excited with! lol
Well lets start from the begining, I met Joe back in 1997, i knew his brother and at the time Joe was with his ex, they had children together so i never gave gettin together with him a thought,(although i did fancy the butt off him!) a year or so later i had broken up with my boyfriend and he had broken up with his, i felt so sorry for him and tried to comfort him (in a friend way) then eventually we just realised we were meant to be together! You also have to realise that there is a 16 year age difference and i think we both didnt think that we'd ever get together! That was 8 years and 3 kids ago!!! lol and i love him more than ever!! So that was a brief start to my journal no doubt they'll be no stopping me now!! lol

Just before i go to bed, i thought i'd tell you my plans so far, id tell you about my really romantic proposal but i didnt have one! So anyway we originally planned to get married in 2000, but had to change plans when i found out i was pregnant with my second son! Then we planned again for 2004, had the date sorted, tried on dresses, got invitation making stuff etc, but that didnt happen either!! We were having a bad time and i just couldn't get married at that point! (i have suffered from depression on and off since having Dillon in 2000) So now i'm well and cheery and planning again, we have set the date for the 18th October 2008, 10 years and 1 day after we got together!! Well back to my plans...... Im having 4 adult bridesmaids, 3 flowergirls and a mini me in the form of my daughter Lucy! Also 4 Groomsmen, 2 page boys 1 ring bearer and a mini Joe in the form of Dillon! Joseph my eldest is to be ring bearer! I havent got a venue yet as i keep changing my mine! Thank goodness i have 2 years!! Im soooo tired now im off to bed!! I'll have to write more tomorrow! And maybe put up some pics!

I feel a bit down today! I dont know whats up but i think with the wedding planned so far off and about a million other things to think about, im all over the place! One minute im really excited and looking for new places and ideas and the next i could easily call it all off!! Did anyone else feel like this?? Or is it just me?? Is this what i get for starting to plan a wedding 2 years early??

OMG! I love that church, that is exquisite!

To answer your question, you really can't or shouldn't go full speed every day "planning." You would get burned out. Just focus on the big stuff right now, booking the venues for the day then look into photogs, DJs, attire and everything else.

We went from engaged to married in about 13 months and sometimes we didn't have to do much of anything wedding related.

Thankyou! Your right about getting burned out! I think thats whats happened already! Most days i dont bother with any wedding stuff, i come on here to catch up and look at everyone elses weddings but dont really think about mine then once in while I'll see something, like the chapel and get a new plan! But then i get bored again!! lol I know i need to book somewhere soon as places can be booked up pretty fast but, i dont know, id rather look at all your weddings and plans than my own!! lol Maybe I'll be back to normal after christmas? maybe ive just gotto many other things on my mind so the weddings just gonna have to take a back seat for a while!

Yeah and congrats for finally starting your wedding journal. I can't wait to hear and see more....

I just love the look of the church that you are considering on getting married in..

And the reception venues WOW is all I can say that is going to make it even harder to chose.

I wish you all the best and the only word of advice I can give you as I have been planning my wedding for close to 2 1/2 years is take your time and grab all the pic's you can for inspiration. Also when it gets closer to 1 year mark you can start choicing and paying for your venue's ect. that will make it much more real.. If you find a sale and have the extra cash grab it up that is what im doing and you would be amazed how much I have already saved.. ALl the best to you.

Well the way I look at it. IF you don't have the saving for your wedding and you are raising children (LOL there is no extra $) so we need a much larger engagement. There is nothing wrong with that. I hear ya everyone thought I was a bit nuts to for having such a long engagement.. Till I told them how much I have saved by doing it a little at a time.. I will still have the wedding of my dreams just took a little longer than others...

So go for it and if its not the time when you have planned I don't blame you for waiting for your dream wedding you deserve it best of luck to you,.

Try resizing the files on your computer, if you have a photo editor. I have found that for portrait pics, 550 pixels in height is best for posting and for landscape pics, 600 pixels wide is the best. Then click to maintain the ratio so you don't end up with a skewed pic. Then upload the new size to photobucket and it shouldn't resize them that small.

I think they look beautiful as they are!

I was raised Catholic and we had confessions really young, too. I don't really get it either, although I did have more to confess when I was younger than I would now. LOL But I do not associate with any sort of church anyways.

I don't really know about your local area, but if I were you I would also want some pictures with some of the older archetecture. I know the UK has some really old and beautiful structures that we do not have here. Like I said I don't know anything about what is around you locally, but that would be gorgeous!

I love it, you have a Kay and a Kelsey in your BP!

Your colors are so classy as well!

Just be careful if you have a family member do all of the pro pics b/c

1. depending on how close you are to her, she may prefer to enjoy the day more as a guest and not really want all the responsibility of being the photg. The photog is really a "full time" job and they do not really get the opportunity to enjoy themself.

And 2. if anything were to go wrong and the pics didn't come out or they weren't what you were expecting it could really mess up the relationship.

If you really cannot afford anything else, then go for it but like I said, proceed with caution.

I were thinking about this today! We get on really well but she lives at the other end of the country to me so we're not extremely close, but i dont want her to feel uncomfortable! and if something was to go wrong, i know my dad and he'd never let her live it down! even if it weren't her fault and she has to live near him!!! lol I might ask her to do the Edinburgh photos, of the ceremony and small reception after and then when back in manchester, hire another pro for the large reception so she can have a good time as well!!

It was Dillons play today! He was the narator! oh he was sooooo good! It was the main part with a lot of lines! he did them brilliantly and sung beautifully!!! Everyone was commenting on his singing! My eyes were filled with tears and all the other parents kept looking at me everytime he did something good or cute so i was really trying hard not to weep! lol

Well as some of you know, the boys were sick on christmas eve, then i was sick on christmas day! well apart from that christmas went well, the children loved all their toys, i were first up on christmas morning, the children got up at around 8.20, the boys were so fast opening all their prssies that Lucy still had 7 left when they had finished!! Joe went off to pick up his other sons and they came round and got their presents, I called to my sisters to give my nieces their presents before they went to their dads house (cheryl and their dad are separated) Then i took the children over to my mams house and gave and recieved presents, i got my younger sister 'high school the musical' on dvd and her friend had bought it her !!! lol i'll have to go and replace it today! I started feeling a bit again so i went home and had a lie down while the kids played with their new stuff and Joe made dinner!!
Dinner was gorgeous!! turkey, mashed pototoes and sweet potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, roast potatoes, mashed swede and carrot, stuffing and gravy!! yum! Later i went to my nanas with the children! had a good day! oh and got a text off my dad lol!!

On christmas morning, i was the first up, and as i was waiting for the children to awake, i heard my daughters bed squeak, so i went upstairs to see if she was awke and i could hear her talking, i went into her room to find her looking out of her window, she looked at me with a sad little face and i asked her what she had said and why she was sad! she told me she didnt think it was christmas because it hadnt snowed! she was saying everything was still and not white! i explained that it didnt always snow on christmas day but that didnt mean father christmas hadnt been! she was ok then! i had to share as i want to look back next year and remember!(if i forget) her little face and voice!! so cute!!

Well just thought id pop this in my diary! journal, whatever lol
Well for the past 6 years,(on and off) i have suffered from depression, i have taken countless pills and none ever work! Well the other day my sister was reading something about bipolar and phoned me worried that i might have it! well i was like no chez it just deression i dont get manic ya know but after reading into it and thinking about myself properly, i have a hell of a lot of the symptoms and i have to go to the doctors now to have a chat with her, it may explain why the tablets never worj for my depression, it might also explain why it comes and goes all by itself, why sometimes i work to the bone like a lady obsessed and other days i dont have the energy to get myself a drink! theres a lot and although this might sound mad, i always feel better and deal with things better when i know what causes them, hopefully i might get proper treatment etc. because i have an under active thyroid, every illness or symptom i get, get put to that, "oh its because of your thyroid" thats pretty much all i hear yet ive never got any better! lol

ladymelissa

It's good to take a break from wedding mode from time to time, you come back refreshed and ready to get going again. You will also look at things with fresh eyes.

If you are worried about scrapping the wedding all together, the best way to ensure that doesn't happen is to nail down a date. Put down the deposits on the venues, the catering and such. Once you have a monetary investment, it becomes much more real and all of sudden you have established a clear deadline to keep you motivated and on track.

lea m

Thanks Melissa! yeh thats what we're going to do! after my birthday party, we're going to go to edinburgh for the weekend and book the ceremony and venue! i cant wait for that so i dont think im "off" just yet! lol it'll probably be in february though and i just hope the dates available!! i know its a long time off but the castles especially get booked up really early! But because we are actually getting married on a friday, im hoping we'll have a better chance!!

ladymelissa
12-28-2006, 04:34 PM
Do you have to be there in person to book the date? If you know exactly where you want it you might be able to call and hold the date or even put the deposit down via credit card and then they can mail or fax the contracts.

Im a bit peeved today! first of all, my sister was planning to take her children to the cinema to watch night in the museum, well i reminded her it was lucys birthday next week and i was taking her to the pictures to see it and said we should all go together, it would be more fun for lucy to have her cousins there as well as shes close to them, well i called to my mams earlier on and asked if she had seen Cheryl, she told me she had gone to the pictures ith the kids to atch night in the museum??? why??? why coulnt she just wait one more week?? shes done my head in!! and i think she knows it as she normally phones in the evening (regardless of whether we have seen each other all day or not) and she hasnt phoned tonight! not that i would bother to answer the phone! i'll have a moan at here tomorrow but i just cant understand why she went today instead of on lucys birthday?
And... im peeved off because no-one seems that interested in my party!! :( i keep asking what people are planning to wear and there like 'oh i dont know yet' yet!!!! its only 3 weeks off and its fancy dress! you cant just decide on the day! my sisters the worst! we are (usually) very close, we see each other everyday, and usually go everyhere together, but shes more interested in her thursday night out! sorry i just needed to moan! lol

ladymelissa
12-30-2006, 04:06 PM
Well forget them, you, Lucy and your family can go and enjoy the picture to celebrate her birthday! Would they be interested in going again? Maybe they'll still go.

As far as your party is concerned, I wouldn't worry too much. I generally have an idea of what I will wear to formal events (but I only own 2 formal dresses LOL), but 3 weeks is enough time to pull it together. Esp. with the holidays, everyone is so busy with gifts, parties, baking and everything and then New Years. So as soon as things settle down I am sure they will find something appropriate, I'll bet most everyone has that stunning, little black dress in their closet which is ready at a moment's notice.

Whoops! Sorry, my bad! Part of the language barrier, we call those costume parties. Anyhoo, they should still have time to rent from a costume shop especially since this is not around Halloween so there isn't a huge demand for costumes and they may even have stuff from past Halloweens that they plan to wear!

Ours are good for 15 years, no matter how much you use or don't use them, but they are about $100 and you have to have a pic taken at an approved passport picture place and then take the pic and the forms to a government office for processing and you get it in the mail like a few months later, so it really is a bit of a hassel.

lea m
12-30-2006, 04:48 PM
In this country, adult passports last for 10 years but kids last for 5! Its about 60 pound for an adut and around 40 pounds for a child! We can get the pic done anywhere but it has to comply with strict rules i.e no smiling, white background etc. We can take our forms to our local post office where it can be checked (for a fee) and then it gets sent away and processed and returned in the post! So it'll cost me around 200 pounds altogether and if we dont use them much, it'll feel like a waste of money! lol (good excuse to go on holidays if you ask me!) hee hee
Well i'll need them for the honeymoons! First Paris for the weekend! Then we have now decided to go back with the kids to Disneyland Paris! i have always said we'll go to Florida, but it would cost us a ridiculous amount of money so the Paris one will have to do! then The Carribean! and Miami! and maybe still Tunisia!

ladymelissa
12-30-2006, 04:55 PM

Well im stressed again now!! I need Melissa's advive! lol i might start a thread! Speaking to my MIL on new years eve and i was talking about our wedding asking her how much Joe had told her (which was 0!) and i metioned my Edinburgh idea to her! And she was like "oh no go there after! have your wedding at home and then go there" ???? im like "no i want to get married there, we are getting marired there"! anyways she pulled her face about it, she was still trying to be nice but sort of made everyone else think it was a silly idea too! im rather annoyed actually because shes off every other weekend for a weekend away, so why would she have a problem with going to edinburgh for a night? but before that, i was actually having doubts about it myself when i stopped at my local churchyard, and i looked at my lovely church??? i dont want to change now though because MIL will think its because she didnt want to!!!!lol had enough of weddings!

01-01-2007, 07:37 PM
I'm sorry that your MiL is being so difficult about this, and the choices you want to make. I think though that it's most important to do what you (& Joe) want to do. Do some research about getting married at the beautiful church and the research for Edinburgh, and then go with the one your heart is calling too. Don't worry too much what your MiL thinks about your reasons... Good luck!

lea m
01-02-2007, 09:14 AM
Well OMG i have another plan!!! ha ha ha i hope i dont change my mind again! lol I was talking to Joe about the pro's and cons of Edinburgh, and he suggested we get married near my dads! which is 250 miles the other direction!! lol i guess Joes just as fickle as me!! In Devon theres plenty of caravan parks and B&B's so people will have a more less expensive option, ans theres also some very beautiful buildings there too! gosh! I think i might just pop on a plane to the carribean and get married at a sandals resort or something lol to much hard work!

Jacklynn
01-02-2007, 09:19 AM
HAHA you are totally right about just hoping on a plane and heading to a resort to get married, I would, but too many people honestly care about getting to see me get married, I know they would be crushed, I had thrown around the idea a little, and a lot of my friends said how sad they would be.... soooo instead I am just going somewhere like that for my honeymoon lol.

Don't forget even if you change your mind to the church that your FMIL was talking about, its not a BIG deal if she THINKS that she is the reason why you changed your mind... let her think what she wants haha you know the truth, and no one else even knows that she was talking about it except the people there. Heck, if anything let her think it was her idea and you could use it to help you later on in case you want her to do something for ya :P

We went to Joes sisters house for a party and had a good chat and drink with everyone on his side, His dad was telling me loads of stories and GHOST stories which i find fascinating! lol its so funny though as Joe 100% does not believe in ghosts, (although we both saw 'something' a few years back) yet his dad does and told us about all the ones hes saw throughout his life and his mam told us she has saw things and believes! it made me laugh as i just presumed that Joe didnt believe because he was brought up not to KWIM??
anyways we go home, take a couple of drunk photos which i will TRY and put up (something wrong with my laptop) and then went to bed! Only i couldnt sleep for ages coz i was to scared after the ghost stories!! hee hee

Well when i lived in my old flat, i would wake up in the night terrified and i HAD to go and check on the children, i was always so scared, this one night i woke up VERY calm, i looked towards the doorway and i could see the shape of a man(well i think it was a man) i looked behind him and could see the door frame of a closet and realise i couldnt see through him, although it was just like a shadow, i was lay there thinking "well its not my dressing gown over the door because i can see that over there, and oh yeh there a shoulder..." things like that! then i thought, i had better go and check on the children (like i always did) then i just rolled over thinking "no its alright, there alright" i felt like whoever this was, wasnt going to hurt them and he was going to protect them! i woke up the next morning and a was petrified lol i wouldnt sleep without the hall light on after that! the thought of him scared me more! lol
well anyways i told Joe (you know after screaming ha ) and he told me that he had also saw him on another occasion and he believed it to be his Uncle who had died before i even met him! I like to think that too!

Right new year new house!! well not a new house exactly lol ! every year i feel i nned to cmpletely re-decorate the entire house! lol and usually do one or two rooms! well this year i have grrand plans (lol) but i cant really do any because i should save for my wedding!!!! ****!! i want a new kitchen! my plan is cream walls, black gloss base cupboards and red gloss wall cupboards, black marble work surface, and maybe black and white tiles! then i want to sort out my garden! mostly flag it and get some lovely potted plants! lol (as long as its easy) My dining room at the minute is mushroom and chocolate browns! i dont know if i will change this yet, maybe just give it a fresh lick of paint!, my living rooms tan and ivory, i only did this room quite recently so might leave that too! My hall stairs and landing need re-doing! at the min i have chocolate coloured carpet on the stairs, chocolate suade on the walls with magnolia (i have the suade paints everywhere lol) My bathrooms going to be white, black and silver, i have a glitter effects paint to add a touch of sparkle! my rooms ok, its cream (suprise, suprise) with a accent wall of brown and turquoise, the kids rooms are ok, not long since done them either!

AWWW... I just seen your pic's you and joe look so cute together.

As for the house remodeling. why don't you just buy a few accents put some fresh paint on the walls and then save the extra $ for your wedding. I know it's not the same as a whole remodeling job but it will be cheaper.

OMG I was watchign a show here "The Tyra Banks Show" and she had two ladies on teh shoe that were like that!! Matt almost puked I swear!! He and I both said it looked terriably uncomfortable and wonder how truely safe it is for all their internal organs.

I must admit that I like the looks of a corset but not that small!! That's just wrong!

Wow! Your workouts put me to shame!

Make sure you secure the venue and your date with a contract and usually a deposit.

Do you also need a separate venue for the ceremony or will it all be in one place?

Will the venue offer catering? If not, you will have to book a caterer.

Once you have a date scheduled for sure, would you want a DJ or a band?

Then start looking at and pricing cake options and florists or pricing flowers if you plan to do that yourself.

Would you need any additional decorations?

Invitations and then the little things like a ring pillow or FG basket.

Well im going to speak to my dad tonight and see if he will pop down for me (which im sure he will) and check the dates any everything!
I was going to have a seperate reception venue but thats where they thing will be changed into a casino so i think i'll have to hold the ceremony and reception at the same place now! And yes they do the catering.
Thats a good one actually, i'll have to look into a dj for the evening, i'll have ot get googling lol unless me dad knows one which, knowing my dad, he does!
I think im going to use silk flower!? Bit undecided actually! I might start a thread and get some opinions on them! And the cake? One of Joes family members make cakes for a living and shes doing one for our birthday so i'll see how it tastes then maybe she can do it! i wont need a big one though?
Oh wait, will i need a big one or 2 if im going to have 2 receptions?? think another threads in order lol!!!

He worked for his dad for most of his working life until his dad retired and sold the company,(which in my opinion was cruel, but i guess he has his reasons) then for a long time now he has been working with his brother in their own business but they decided to call it a day before christmas (Joe did everything and his brother was just money money money) I did say after working for his dad etc that he shouldnt work with family again but he did and now we're here! with nothing! lol He said he might take his class 1 driving, but he 'might' do it with his brother (you know, the one whos just let him down,?) so im a bit peed off with that! he just doesnt learn! lol

Right i need to fill you in on something really quick so you can understand what i really need to tell someone!! lol
3 years ago, me and joe had a very rough patch, him and my so called best mate seemed too friendly and we fell out over it, to cut a long long story short, i thought they were having an affair and cancelled our wedding,(thats why ive said in the past that i have put it off) Nearly murdered her (not literally) and basically it nearly destroyed me to be honest! well we worked through it and she kept doing things like she got joes phone number of a mutual friend and started texting him and all sorts and he was really mad and we were thinking of moving away at one point just so i could sort myself out, every time she came near or something happened i was devo'd all again! theres so much more to it but i'll be here all night lol, anyways the reason im telling you all is that although things have been fine for at least 12 months, no thought of her at all, shes been around a lot, like walking past my house etc (which is VERY brave of her i might add) anyway i was wondering why shes pushing her luck only to find out thats she pregnant! so she knows i wont start no trouble with her obviously! But now im feeling a bit weird! I cant help but think "imagine if i was wrong to trust joe and what if hes been seeing her all this time and its his baby"? i know i must sound absolutely mad but it really got to me and took a long time for me to sort my head back out! so i do sometimes think silly things when it comes to her! lol

It is natural for past issues to haunt you and it is also a good sign that Joe is understanding and seems to want nothing to do with her. How far along is she? Has she mentioned that she thinks Joe is the father? If she hasn't brought that up then it is most likely not his, nor can she even come up with a believable story that he could be the father.

If she continues to harass you and/or Joe you may want to think about a restraining order. Does she have any good reason for being near your house (like live nearby)? Does she call or text excessively despite requests not to?

Thanks for being understanding Melissa! I was half execting everyone to say, i dont know, things that would upset me lol! I can be very touchy when it comes to Joe and this girl! She hasnt mentioned Joe being the father, nor would anyone believe her if she did but i cant help but think it lol! She doent live that close but her mum lives round the corner, but she still has no need to go past my house usually, but now im begining to wonder if the childs father lives somewhere close by and thats why?? i dont know? She doent call or text anymore because joe basically threw his phone because of her texting and it broke! lol but h wont get a phone now again! which is a pain!! lol The thing is though, no-one has seen her with anyone!! Ive never saw her with a lad and i see her eveyday on the main road during school times and if she at her mams i might past her and shes always alone or with her child (that she already has) I dont know, me and joe joked about it and he'd go mental if he read this, laughing he said he'd go and kill himself if her new babys blonde! (she has a family of dark hair and 90% of joes children were born with blonde hair) and for him to joke does put me at ease because im sure if there was any guilt there, he wouldnt be able to make any kind of joke, Joes not like that! Im just paranoid i know! lol

She could have had an "encounter" with someone else at any time. Try not to let that cloud your mind. Some do get preg from one night stands and the like.

Just pay attention to subtle, but concrete clues if you suspect Joe may be cheating. I am not saying hire a private dective to follow him, but if you notice any changes in his behavior, or he starts routinely coming home late without a good reason or seems to be gone and "unaccounted" for and not with friends or something, then you can worry.

I can't really imagine how difficult it would be to try to get through and stay together after someone cheated on me. An ex of mine lied to me in the past and I never got over it, needless to say we aren't together anymore. Once trust is broken like that, it forever haunts me. I wish I had better advice, but only you can decide if you trust him and you know him better than I ever will. From the little bit you said, it doesn't sound like anything is going on though.

Thats the thing, i feel like ive forgiven him for something i dont really know hes done BUT i was to find out that he did cheat, he'd be out no doubt about it! I think thats why ive had a hard time with it because of not knowing! Im nearly sure that theres nothing now, but because i cant be sure of the past, i feel i shouldnt be so sure of the present KWIM? I remember before all the stuff with her i was 100% he would never cheat on me but she sort of planted a seed and kept watering it if you know what i mean! she kept saying that he'd been round to her house when he hadnt but because she was my friend at the time, i had no reason to doubt her so when it came to a head i was like "you were there all the time" and he was like no i wasnt! Everytime he went out, i thought he was at hers and she never tod me otherwise or told me he was etc! I dont know! i dont know if i'll ever know the truth or if im already being told the truth, but at the time i was also dealing with depression so i think thats why it go to me so badly!

That is the difference, it is not a sudden change. Everyone has baseline tendancies, it's their personality and when it suddenly changes esp. for no good reason, like a job or joining a bowling league or something, then they might be lying. Or if there is maybe a sudden lack of stories, like if someone is out with friends, there is usually a story to tell and that story usually adds up or makes sense and has quite a few details. If the stories become so vague like, "yeah I went out for some beers." And that is not in character, then you may have a clue.

but because i cant be sure of the past, i feel i shouldnt be so sure of the present KWIM?
I completely understand and that is probably normal.

What an evil person! That is no way to treat a friend!

Arrrrghhh another **** C**p day!! First im stressed over ebay and the royal mail!! I sold a pair of jeans on there before christmas and sent them out and got a receipt as proof! Well a few weeks ago this girl left me feedback saying she had recieved them so i threw away the receipt! A week or so later she sent me a message telling me that she hadnt recieved them, she left me the feedback by mistake!! Now the post office are not helping, they are saying that the item, ust have been desroyed!! Why?? it was addressed and wrapped properly so obviously it has just 'disappeared'! Im so mad about it! I have tried everything i can and they wont give me compensation to send to this woman as i have no longer got the proof!! then they tell her that i CAN claim compensation so shes being a bit funny in her emails!! I can understand her being upset, royal mail have just lost other items that i have paid for but not delivered! But i dont go blaming the seller! Especially as if she hadnt left incorrect feedback i could at least have refunded her!!

Then at school today i had to speak to joes neice! She starts telling me that her nanas(joes mam) getting stressed out over the party on saturday! And that shes doing this and that and i have to give her all the stuff i have bought for MY party so she and her mam can go and set up the room!!!????? This is mine and Joes party shes talking about!! Joes sister and neice (mainly neice) seem to have taken over the party without me even having knowledge of them thinking anything other than turning up on the day!! How annoying!!! I was quite shocked to be honest!I was left feeling like joe mam had been thinking that im doing nothing and asking others to do it! just because WE decided to include Joes dad in the celebrations! I spoke to Joes mam and asked her if she was worried and she said no, her main concern was getting the right amount of food! She knew i was busy with things and thought they were helping! Im like yeah they can "help ME out" not do this and that take over lol! Its just one thing after another at the min! I feel like canceling the party over people who have nothing at all to do with it!!!

I would tell her that she confirmed receipt of the item in the feedback so you threw away the tracking info. It seems to me that it is more her problem. Are you sure she isn't trying to scam you or the PO?

The PO can't track the package based on the address? Did you at anytime track the package on your comp, b/c the info might be saved in the comp's internet history. Was the package insured?

In the future always ask for insurance (it's pretty inexpensive, at least here anyway) and delivery confirmation, then you can track it and show her who signed for it.

Good luck with this one!

I know! i didnt even think to insure it! duh! they asked me at the till if the items were worth more than 30 pounds but as she had only paid 25 i said no!
No i never tracked it! when she left feedback i just though it had arrived and that was that! lol

I would try asking the post office one more time if they can find it or even figure out if it had been delivered. If they can't find it, I am not sure what you should do, I have never been an ebay seller. I would be inclined to tell that girl, paypal and even ebay themselves that she confirmed receipt through the feedback, so she must have received it. That would be my story and I would stick to it. Who logs on and leaves feedback, if they didn't get it? It doesn't make sense. In the future when you are dealing with the public, always get signature confirmation and I would save the info for a few months, just to be on the safe side.

About your birthday party, it really sounds like they want to help. Is there any way you can sort of organize them? Give the ones who want to help specific jobs that lighten your load and still give them a sense of purpose. Good luck with that, I am sure it will be fabulous no matter what, just relax and enjoy!

Well im not letting them stress me out! LOL aparently, they see it as their 'grandads' party! nothing to do with me or joe!! ha ha Big Joes only having a party because me and Joe jr decided to have him in on ours!! If they wanted to throw one, they should've arranged it themselves! If his neice had said to me " you dont mind if i help do you?" or even "can i help" then id have been more than happy but she just took it upon herself to say what she is or isnt doing with my party! hee hee well if she wants to help that much, i'll just remind her of that fact when it comes to clearing up afterwards! lol
As for the ebay lady, she has now put in a unpaid item dispute saying that she has lost her patience with me and i take so long to reply to her emails??? does she expect me to be on here 24hours a day to respond instantly?? well at the end of the day it was not my fault that the item never arrived and its certainly not my fault that i cant claim compensation for the lost item!!

Well that is a bit different than I interpreted it. I am sorry they are trying to cut you out of your own party, that isn't right. Maybe just take back over and tell them exactly what needs to be done and the clean up detail sounds like a good plan, too. LOL

Well go ahead and respond to her and say something like, "you said you got it. End of story."

Wait and see how ebay handles it. When they do their investigation, just show them the feedback she left and let them sort it out. I am not sure who has the burden of proof. I would treat the feedback as proof and I hope that is considered concrete evidence or best case, the post office is able to find it somewhere or at least be able to confirm it's delivery (but I wouldn't count on that).

I really hope you "win" the dispute since you wouldn't have thrown away the shipping receipt if the feedback hadn't been left. In any event at least you learned what can go wrong and how to protect yourself in the future. Let me know how it turns out, I don't know how the ebay terms and conditions are written so I am very interested. In any event I hope you haven't left her customer feedback yet, b/c she deserves a negative review, but I would wait to leave it until this is settled. Best wishes.

Darn! But as long as it is left, use it to your advantage, it shows that you thought the sale ended on good terms.

Also pass on the special delivery charges to future customers, since you are allowed to charge for shipping, most ebay sellers insure the stuff and I (as the customer) have paid for it.

Well what i day it was!! lol running around all day! ended up being late for my own party and i walked in and OMG!! i was the ONLY one there in fancy dress!! How annoying! Joe had decided 2 minutes before we left that he didnt want to get dressed up as no other man he knew was?!? I was quite angry but thought well theres not much point in letting the m ruin my night! and i knew that my sis and a few others were coming dressed u they we're just late! lol It ended up, me cheryl(my sis) Kelsey(my other sis) her friend Laura, My aunt Marcella,Karen,Michelle, My auntie Elaine, and all the kids!! lol Out of about 120 people!!! But i was glad when later,Joes dad did a speech and announced that this was a fancy dress party and he was going to come as a tramp and beg a few quid off everyone as they entered! He said "but by the looks of it, you all need the few quid yourself!!" in other words, he was letting them know that as it was a fancy dress party and they didnt dress up,he wasnt too happy about it! It was good thought and the people who had made it a little stressful were super nice as well!! lol

They do have a return policy, just read it carefully. You have 3 days to ship it back if you need to do so and those days include the day your receive it. It doesn't have to be there in three days, it just has to be post marked within 3.

Wow, it's been so long since I have read your journal!! First of all, everybody looked so amazing at the party! I bet it was a blast. Secondly, I really like the dress you are thinking about. I tried on a similar one, with the the sash thing meeting in the middle (I am not really sure if that has a name or what, so I hope you know what I am talking about lol!!) and it is SO slimming! I actually like that dress much better than the one I tried on! And I just love the back of it!

Thankyou both!! im starting to get more things organized now! I have a final guest list for the trip! Well a final invite list ha ha whether they'll come is a different matter! hee hee! I have been looking into having my reception at a different venue as you dont have to have your reception there and to be honest, i dont quite like the food! hee hee, also i have been looking into the prices of the b&b's in Torquay and getting some numbers to see if they do deals on mass bookings lol! Joe has picked his suit(think ive already said that) I have to decided on Ivory or Black bridesmaid dresses!?!? If ivory, they will be in a aphrodite type style! Ive been looking into where to hold the reception back home but im thinking i will be best using the masonic lodge Joes father goes to as its big, not to expensive and is quite nice to look at! lol Just not 'amazing' lol but never mind, you cant have eveything! hee hee

Thankyou! Im loving Oldway more and more too! lol i haven't been able to show Joe yet but i have told him that we have changed venues! hee hee ! He asked why, then i explained and he said is it nicer than Cockington, and i said yes and that was that! He knows my taste in buildings etc so hes know if i say its nicer to me, then he knows it'll be nicer to him too! KWIM?? lol But he still does need to see the pics at least! He really might not like it yet!??! I do doubt that though!
We did have a nice night and the film was ok! Still not something i would pick but ok! It made me want to come home and start on my punchbag!:whoohoo: lol

I am pretty sure Joe will like Oldway, too. Especially with it being less expensive, that is a term most guys really relate to. LOL

At least you got something positive from the film! :whoohoo: Did Joe like it as much as the earlier Rocky movies?

No i dont think so:( but he still did like it! so thats good! I think when you already like something, its harder to like newer versions ! (i know its like that for me anyway) hee hee
Yeh im sure Joe will love the money ooopps i mean Oldway too! lol

Oh my dad is such a pain! lol First he shows me Oldway mansion, and completely changes what i thought was a 'certain' mind from cockington court to Oldway! Now today after we we're chatting about it for a while and i mention cockington, he says "oh it would be really nice to get married there" im like dad i was until you shown me Oldway!?!? now hes sort of more into cockington!!! I tell ya what men are all the same whether they are your dad or your partner, they have to make things complicated and confuse you! lol We have decided to go visit my dad in the next couple of months to check out these places properly! until then im NOT looking at anywhere else!!!! hee hee

To give your dad the benefit of the doubt he may have felt bad about "crushing your plans" and gave Cockington a second look, just as we did with Oldway. It is probably best to go see them in person and actually get to talk to someone from the venues. Based on the pics alone, I am still an Oldway fan!

Me too:grinhappy: !! I definitely need to go and see Oldway in person and Joe needs to see both! lol Its funny, when we were down at my dads this summer, I asked Joe if he would like a walk down to cockington but we never got round to it!
