So here it goes the story of how I met the man of my dreams. My name is April, I am 31 years old. I got married when I was 19 years old. I got pregnant and figured that I better marry the father of my daughter so she could have a family. Well after almost 10 years of misery I decided to leave him. I had 2 children and becoming a single mom was not easy. My two children are both affected with a debilitating neuromuscular disease. Despite all of obstacles I faced as a single mother I finally began to learn about me and the things that made me happy. I had always focused on making my marriage work, not realizing it takes two people to achieve happiness. After a few tries at dating I began to feel lonely. The guys I was meeting werent what I really wanted. I wanted someone that I could be myself around and most importantly would want to get to know my children. Well, I tried the internet thing and no luck. One day my sister gave me a phone number. She said it was a telephone dating line. So I tried it. I met a few guys but you know some people lie about themselves. One night after work I got on and was listening to different profiles, well as soon as I heard his voice I think my heart skipped a beat!! I sent him a message and before you knew it we had exchanged telephone numbers. We taled on the phone for about 4 hours the first time. Well come to find out he lived about 4 hours away from me. We decided to send eachother pictures in the mail so we could find out if there ws a physical attraction there. Needless to say it was there and very strong!! After about 2 weeks he drove up to see me. I remember being so nervous. I think that I fell in love with him the first weekend we spent togther. He was so laid back, sweet and caring. He met my kds that weekend and he baked them brownies and played games with them, at this point I knew I had to have this man!!!! After doing the long distance thing for a while I decided to pack up and move. We found a house and moved in together. The first few month were a little hard. I ws scared of putting my heart out there and getting hurt. Well things worked out great!! He gave me a promise ring last christmas to let me know he "wasn't going any where!"
So this brings me to the engagement. We had talked about marriage and I knew that he wasn't quite ready. I figured when the time was right then he would want to talk about it more. So September 20th is his birthday. I got up and asked him what he wanted for breakfast. He said since it was his birthday he wanted to go out to eat. He pulled up at Olive Garden which I had been bugging him about going to because I love thier food. We ordered the food and I wasn't sure what he ordered. I told him if he didn't like waht he got I would share my food with him. He said "will you share everything with me?, Will you share your life with me?" OMG he got on his knee and gave me the ring!!! I think I almost had a heart attack!!! I don't even remember saying yes. I am so excited!! The wedding is April 25,2008.
The thing I have learned out of all this is there is true happiness and love out there. Keenon loves my children like his own. He treats me like a queen and I am so happy with my life. I never thought the day would come but it did!!
