In the past on here I've seen a lot of you ladies talk about vellum, so I know I'm going to the right people.
We want to use vellum on our invitations, but neither one of us have ever used it before. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. We are doing our own invitations, so I need info on how it prints, durability, and how easily it rips as we will be feeding ribbon through 2 holes at the top and making a bow.
Our printing will be black.
If any of you think this isn't feasable, do you know of anything similar in the same price category?

I have printed on velum and never had a problem I use a ink jet printer and I have also printed words on it. Always came out great I will try and find a pic and scan it for you. Not so sure about how the ribbon will fit through it but im sure if you use a hole punch you should be fine. Can't wait to see the end result.

Thank you for the info!!!!! Ya I'm goign to use a hole punk on either side to pull the ribbon through. I just know how fragile it is and I don't wanna wreck it.
Here's the idea agin of what I'm doing so you can see what I mean...

Here is the pic. I got off walmart and then printed it onto vellum sorry for the poor pic my scanner sucks. But it really turned out great no running or anything. I just let it dry for a few min. before I touched it. Also this is the poem that im using and I also printed it on velum for my card box. Sorry the pic's are so big photobucket won't let me make them any smaller.

That is VERY pretty!!! I'm just goign to be writing the usual blurb for an invitation on it, then underneither peaking throught he vellum will be a pic of Kevin and I in b&w. I actually wanted to do this then I was givin the pic. I was in shock that my idea already existed, it made me sure though of what I wanted to do.

I was thinking of using vellum on our invites and ordered samples on www.paperandmore.com (http://www.paperandmore.com). I was able to order single sheets of different weight so I could test the printing and see which weight I liked the best.

Set your printer to "transparent" setting. Vellum will not absorb the ink, so you will have to set it so the least amount of ink will be put onto the paper.

Good luck!!!

You shouldn't have any problems with vellum. It is really durable so holes will stay better than they would with regular paper. Just make sure you do a test run with you printer to make sure that the ink will stay and not run. Some printers work differently than others.

I love your idea. That is actually an idea that I had thought of doing (Rexcraft.com). If that is where you got the picture fromm, go to their website. You can get two samples of invites sent to you for free! I got the one you showed on here and this is the other one I got sent to me. With this one, the picture is actually printed on the vellum.
