I cant believe I have been here all this time and never started a journal. well better late than never.
How we met:

It was June 3rd 2002, I was 27 and having the time of my life so I thought, I was out everynight drinking and playing pool and going to the casino. My best friend at the time thought it would be nice for me to stop dating alot of people and just focus on one. She told me she had this great guy for me, he was a little shy, but a cute Italian/polish guy. I was up for it, little did he know he was going on a date. So she picked me up and went to a bar here to meet Andy and her boyfriend Andys best friend, well we sat there waiting I was a little nervous, then he walked in, he was smokin hot, I was very excited to get to know him more, we had a few drinks to make things flow a little easier, and got along great. I was a little too tipsy and gave him the wrong phone number to call me, so after a couple days I called him, I really for the first time in a long time liked him, I was so happy to see him when he picked me up from work that night we talked and just really enjoyed each others company, I still had a problem of wanting to go out everynight too though. That put a strain on us and he finally after a month of dating said he did not want to be with me if I was going to chose that life style, I knew I would miss it, but Andy was so worth it. We moved in together after dating only 3 months and have been here now almost 5 years. More too come............478

thanks for sharing. I'm glad that it worked out in the end even though the first night you gave him the wrong phone number LMAO that was to funny. Just goes to show you when 2 people are made for each other nothing will stand in the way not even the wrong phone number. Can't wait to hear more.

Our Engagement:

I am sure I have told this story on here, but not in my journal, FH and I had been together 4 years, I had been looking at rings all the time, and I told him he had 5 years to ask me to be his wife or I was going to leave him (he will never know if I was telling the truth or not) so our 4 yr anniversary I had a really bad day at work and I called him and told him he needed to take me out for a couple cocktails that night, so I got home (he was drinking a beer which should of been a sign) and on the table were pink flowers and a pink bunny with my card, so I as reading the card and it was so beautiful when he reached into his pocket and handed me a really unique box he said happy anniversary so I opened it and just about died it was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen, but he didn't ask "the question", so I looked at him and was like baby you have to ask, he said it really quiet but loud enough for me to hear lol, so I said yes and here we are. Oh the best part, the ring got here on that day, the people never shipped it so they had to overnight it to him boy was he mad!!!480481

I went dress shopping as many of you know way too early, I could not help myself, so I tried on quite a few dresses, but came back to this one 5 times I loved it, but I hated it on the hanger, it has a lot of detail that is pink light blue and mint green I got it now becasue if I waited and next year this dress was gone I would of been heartbroken 482

What a sweet proposal. your ring is gorgous. Love the dress and the shoes and the flowers. Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

As for the BM flowers why don't you use a arrangement of pink roses. Or in whatever colors you using. And have your bouquet the 2 colored roses. Best of luck to you.

As soon as the new year starts I am going to look into halls or country clubs, so far FH says he still will not be dancing at ALL at our wedding, so I am still a little up in the air as to where I want to have it, I think a country club day time reception would be nice, then it could be outside possibly and people wont expect to dance, I don't know I guess this is the hard part trying to make it fun for him and I at the same time. He will be miserable if there is dancing there is no changing his mind on this one either, it is a done deal. I wish we had a house instead of an aprtment then we could have something at our house in our yard, but that wont happen anytime soon, I will keep this subject an open one for now because I am clueless on where this one will end............

BriansBride07
11-22-2006, 10:48 AM
Oh so sorry your FH has banned dancing at your reception.. He really should think of the guests attending your reception. They should not be banned from dancing just b/c he doesn't like it.. I understand his thinking behind this I think.. Is it b/c he can't dance and doesn't want to look like a fool. Or is he just hate to dance?
I hate to dance in front of alot of people I look like a manican (sp) b/c of my nerves but i'm going to buck up and deal with it on my wedding day but only for the first dance, dollar dance and for the father/daughter dance. And that's it LOL I refuse to not let my guests have a good time for the dancing part just b/c I don't like to. Best of luck to you on this matter.. I hope it all works out in the end.. Also remeber if you are going to have music your guests might just dance regardless wether its inside or outsde.

Ok major step in the right direction last night, we have been kind of not talking too much about the wedding lately due to our cars and our health problems lately, but last night I told him we need to start thinking about a location for our wedding and reception, we aren't religious so it will not be in a church. So I got some brochures out and I think we found a place, it is a country club and very reasonable, it is only 21.00pp for 3hrs open bar, standard buffet, cheese and crackers and a veggie tray. So with us only having about 50 people it will only cost us about 1500.00, the place is beautiful and the gazeebo is very nice too. I am so excited we are finally talking about this as a team instead of just me all the time:D . This is seriously a major breakthrough, next step....... dancing???????????:ura1:

I went and looked at the Country Club yesterday, it was beautiful. It holds 300 people and since I am only having 40-50 people it is going to be pretty roomy. It has a beautiful creek that runs behind the Gazeebo and breathtaking picture spots along the creek. The inside has a split level and a patio, the main room has a fireplace and is just everything I dreamed of. It is like a snow lodge, but bigger the wedding co-ordinator was nice and had lots of ideas and knows everyone so she is going to help me pick a harpist, and she owns a day spa so I will be going their to get my hair and makeup done, the only thing is my date has to change to 06/08/08 I dont have enough people for a Saturday wedding. I am so excited, with a buffet, veggie trays cheese and crackers and a 3 hour open bar it is 21.00 a person. So I am going to make my first deposit in January when I get my 400.00 bonus from work(they give us a bonus for collecting money from patients) so I collect all I can right about now LOL. So this is my update I am probably the most happy now then since this whole wedding planning started :jphappy:

So I was at Bed Bath and Beyond the other day and saw wine glasses 12 for 9.99 I was thinking of putting hersheys or M&Ms in them or something unique rose petals or something not sure of that part yet, is 12 wine glasses for for 9.99 not including the coupons the best price around ya think??? Or does anyone know of someplace cheaper. I will only have to spend like 50.00 if that on glasses and 10.00 on hersheys kisses, is this a good favor idea?

mariaandmanish
12-05-2006, 07:19 PM
I think that's a great idea, and a great way of saving money. I don't know your area, so I don't know if you could find them cheaper somewhere else. I would suggest looking a little online if you're really wondering if you can get something cheaper! Otherwise, jump on it! lol

I went to IKEA for my wine glasses and got 12 for $10, They are not the clinking kind but we are not clinkers LOL but they will work. Anywhoo. Just wanted to let you know that IKEA has them to lol. BTW I love the idea of having kisses in the wine glasses what a great favor.

You could even look into a really good photography student at a college. I, along with most brides, usually think the photog is one of the most important elements. The pics are all you will have left to remember the emotions, your dress, his tux and all your hard work of organizing when your day is said and done. Not to mention, it really goes by pretty fast and when you get the pics back you will see things you didn't remember or things that occurred when you weren't looking.

So I called a few bakeries today to see when I can do cake testing, and all of them said to call back after Christmas because they were too busy, its ok though, I just wanted to get something moving, I also dont think I want to have a wedding band with my ring, my ring is so big that if I add on to it it will go up to my knuckel, if I get a band can I wear it on my right hand my sister says I have to have one, I mean is it an absolute necessity to have one? He is being pretty easy about his now. Still no luck on dancing though, but I am working on it(we will have a DJ, but Andy wont be dancing )

Kacie_bride
12-12-2006, 06:12 PM
I don't think you have to have a wedding band. If you decide you want one later one you can do it then. If you do decide you want one now I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing it on your right hand either. Just do what feels right for you!

Does anyone know anything about fake flowers? Are they too tacky or has anyone actually seen a nice bouquet that looked real? I am really on a tighter budget now and need to cut some costs, I told Andy that the wedding would be a little cheaper than it actually is

We are doing half and half. We are using real flowers for the bouquets, bouts, head table arrangement, and column arrangements. We are using silks for the arch and candleabras. I think the silks that we have look nice. We bought them at Hobby Lobby. You can shop around for florists. I think our flowers using roses and callas is costing about $600 roughly.

The thing with silks is having someone who knows how to arrange flowers nicely. I have seen pictures on here with amazing silk flowers that look gorgeous! One in particular I can think of is Stacey. Her arrangments look great! I believe Ellen used silks as well and they were beautiful! Silks can be just as beautiful!!!! Don't worry. They're not tacky.

Hello! Well I found this lady that is going to do all my flowers and decorations. She uses fake flowers and they are beautiful. I think it all depends on the designer. Look at al their work and get a feel for their design style. At first I really didnt like the idea but after meeting with her and seeing all of the things she makes I really am happy. Good luck!

Kacie_bride
12-12-2006, 09:31 PM
Another thing...One florist told me that she charges more to work with silks than real ones. If you are going to have a florist do your flowers it may be cheaper to use real ones. I don't know if they are all like that, but you certainly should weigh all your options.

I was pretty much in the same boat, so I got a band that is comfortable to wear all the time and when I wear my e-ring I do so on the right hand.

I did fake flowers and I loved them, in fact my bouquet still looks as beautiful as it did at the wedding. Just look around for better quality fake flowers, some do look better than others. We made all the bouquets (it wasn't that hard and neither Mike nor I had ever done that before) and only spent about $100 on all of them. The bouts were real though.

I called Davids Bridal and they said I should wait until February to have the girls come look at dresses because they are getting their new line in then, is 6 months before my wedding too long to wait? She said my dress does not need to start getting altered until 6-8 weeks before my wedding, is that enough time???? What is a first fitting? I saw some girls got their first fitting 6 months in advance, does that mean that they just picked out a dress? Or did someone start alterations 6 months prior? Basically I need a little help on time are they not giving me enough time for my alterations and Bm's dresses? My dress is a size 10 (i thought it was an 8) and will need alot of alterations, I am dieting pretty good now, and will definetly be back in a 6 before the wedding so that is alot of alterating IMO? Help Please

ladymelissa
12-14-2006, 06:06 PM
6 months is plenty for BMs. 8 weeks is good for your alterations, the actual work wouldn't take more than a few days (unless it would need to be taken out so far that extra material would have to be ordered), but the fittings and such need the extra time.

I think there are multiple ways to describe a first fitting. I think it could be the first time you try the dress on after it arrives from the manufacturer or it could be the first time you wear it for the seamstress and she marks it for alterations.

I also recommend finding another seamstress other than Davids. Davids is surely priced more and about half of the DB alterations stories are of the horror variety.

jeni740
12-14-2006, 06:27 PM
Ahhh Thank you so much, I just figured I bought the dress their so I had to have my alterations done their also. Thanks so much for the advice I didn't realize they were more expensive and their alterations don't come out so good sometimes. Phew glad you guys are here to help

Oh Dear what should I do, Andy and I went to his Christmas party on Friday, well I got a little tipsy and I guess I invited all of his work to our wedding, it is only like 11 guys, but he actually did not want them to come. They didn't even know we were engaged until they saw old sparkly on my left hand and then they started asking questions. The men he works with are a great group of guys, they are all factory workers and really down to earth. I personally would love it if they came, but we really cant afford 11 more people especially if they bring a guest:bbredface: I know this is my fault, any idea how to get myself out of it?

Kacie_bride
12-17-2006, 12:26 PM
Any chance they were a bit tipsy themselves and will not remember it in the summer when you send out invitations?

jeni740
12-17-2006, 01:02 PM
I sure hope so lol, note to self don't speak when drinking!

BriansBride07
12-17-2006, 02:48 PM
LMAO! sorry that is to funny. I get really talkative when I have had a couple of drinks myself. Hopefully they will not mind if they don't get an invite. If they ask again just tell them that you had some more family that you forgot to add and your not able to afford them also, but maybe they could meet up with you after the reception if you go out and have a few drinks together. ANywhoo.. For the time being I would just blow it off and toss it out as having to much to drink.

hummingbird521
12-17-2006, 06:22 PM
I bet that if you were tipsy and it was a company party that chances are they were tipsy as well. and by the time next summer rolls around if nothing else is said about the wedding that they will have forgotten all about it.

jeni740
12-18-2006, 05:51 PM
Just a quick question about the invitations, I feel obligated to invite everyone from my work because people would be upset and felt left out, but I know for a fact that 2 of my co-workers with their husbands will be out of town on my wedding day. Should I still send them an invitation? One of the two people that cant not attend is the Doctor himself? Just not sure of the proper way to do this is. Thanks!!!

lea m
12-18-2006, 06:22 PM
I would as its always nice to be invited somewhere even if you cant make it! You could say that although you know he would n't be able to attend, he has an invite just in case his plans change and he can make it!

mariaandmanish
12-18-2006, 07:40 PM
I would send the invite. I sent a few out to people I knew would definitely not be able to make it no matter what, but it was the point behind it as to why they got the invite.

I would defintaly send an invite to the people you know won't be able to attend. Just because they arent able to be there, doesn't mean they don't want to be invited.
As for your FH's co-workers, I would suggest the same as everyone else. Blow it off for now. It's not as if you were sending them out next week.

I would send the invite. I sent a few out to people I knew would definitely not be able to make it no matter what, but it was the point behind it as to why they got the invite. Thank you, I thought thats what I was supposed to do, but you never know what is PC and what is not anymore lol

I would say it all depends. I did send invites to some people who I knew couldn't make it, but since I was running short on invitations I didn't send one to one of Justin's friends. We knew he couldn't make it and we told them why we didn't send an invitation to them.

I talked to Fhs sister tonight and told her Andys idea of paying for the tuxes, I thought she might actually fly through the phone, he is her baby, she took care of him for a long time growing up (his childhood sucked more than anyones I have ever heard of in my life) anyway I told her not to say anything to him about it until it comes up again from him. I also told her about the no children thing and that didn't go over as well as I wanted it to. I am going to have my nephew(just one of them) Andys nephew and possibly my cousin who is nine be the flower girl, but no other children are going to be invited. I dont know why this is such a big deal, I dont have kids nor is my tolerance of them too good and everyone knows it. I think weddings should be for adults to have a good time and celebrate, not have to worry about whose kid is throwing a tantrum on the dance floor JMO. I am going to say it in a nice way when I do tell everyone, I just hope that they are not upset

Well, I know several people who have chosen not to have children at their wedding. While I am not one of them since I have two of my own, this is totally up to the couple. It is their choice as to who attends. I know of the girls on here had people choose not to attend because of this. All in all, it is your wedding and if you don't want kids there, that is that.

I agree about kids, it depends on what you want. We are having about 20 kids at the wedding and some people decide not to, it is perfectly OK to say no kids, just make sure you do not make exceptions for people because feelings will be hurt!!
WEdding shopping WAHOOO!

countrygirl
12-22-2006, 12:49 PM
We had kids, how couldn't we, there are four between us as it is!! To us, a wedding like ours was a family affair. Some people don't feel that way, and that is fine. And if you dont want kids there, no one should question it, its YOUR wedding. If you do want them, then great.

ladymelissa
12-22-2006, 01:15 PM
To have or not to have kids at your wedding is completely your choice. I would recommend that all the children who are there are members of the BP, just so there is a clear reason why they are there as to not upset anyone else.

If you choose not to have children invited I implore you to write, "Adults Only" somewhere on either the invite or the reception card. We didn't, we were hoping that the names on the envelope would speak for themselves per traditional etiquette guidelines and many just didn't get it. Therefore we had a few very uncomfortable conversations before the wedding.

There will be just three children there and it is only because they are in the wedding. I am so tired of my family and his faimly telling me who I have to invite and what I should be doing, if they want 25 extra kids their maybe they should foot the bill, I dont want them there. I will definetly be putting that on the inviations Thank you for the advice!!

Yes make sure they know that you don't wish to have children attending. I wish I had been that smart, the kids at our wedding were annoying, got in the way and were disruptive. I mean sure it's up to the parents to make their children behave, but not all parents are (Sober) there to do that. I wishyou the best Sweetie!!

http://www.terranuts.com/forums/images/smilies/santa2.gif We only had two children in Amber's wedding, and they were the FG and RB. Her cousin didn't come because of it, but that's the way Amber wanted it so that's how it was going to be. It's totally your decision, Jeni.

Thanks guys, sometimes it just makes me wonder is this my wedding, or someone elses dream? If it were up to FH we would of gone to JP by now, it is very hard for him to be around all these people, and arguing does not help one bit. I just want to marry him and spend my life with him, and not worry about what people will of thought about our wedding. Thanks for listening:santa:

I know I'm coming in late on this one Jennifer, but I agree with everyone else about the children. It is your decision and defiantely make sure it's on the invitation. I have only ever been to one wedding that was adults only (actually the reception was just adults, not the wedding) but I think most people took it alright. Of course I didn't mind because I don't have any children!!!! LOL. I decided to invite children to ours because I love kids and most of the kids invited I am close to and couldn't imagine getting married without them there. I just hope if I would have decided otherwise that my family/friends would have understood.

Ok this is the guess at my wedding costs for the hall, am I forgetting something? Is the tip included in the Tax & gratuity? Do I have to tip the Co-ordinator and the Bartender or is that included in the price quote?

Wedding Expenses 50 people

Country Club

Gazebo Rental $ 200.00

Chair Fee (ceremony) 42 chairs $ 42.00 (8 people are standing)

Facility Fee 1.25 pp $ 62.50

Food 12.95pp $ 637.50

Bar 3hrs open $ 472.00

8.25% Tax & 17 % Gratuity $ 278.00

WhiskeyGirl
12-26-2006, 08:08 PM
THey added the gratuity but we were expected to tip certain people on to of that. We did not tip the bartender because she put out a tip jar which should be a no no because we were already supposed to be tipping her, so I refused to tip her and told the cordinator that much!! Ask your coordinator who all is to be tipped, and make sure if at any time you see something liek a tip jar either bring it to the coordinators attention for it to be removed or make note of it and don't tip that particular person. Im opinion it was tacky for my bar tender to put out a tip jar when they would have been tipped by us in the end anyhow!!

Anyhow, I'd ask who needs to be tipped and whats included in the included gratuities. I believe a lot of times its the kitchen and wait staff that is included in the gratuity tips.

Yay! I can't wait!

As for tipping, I would just do what you think makes sense and is fair. If your venue automatically adds a gratuity then there is no need to tip any more. Our bartender wasn't supposed to put out a tip jar but did anyway, that still makes me mad.

The only other ones I can think of is the limo driver and hair stylist. Unless of course they are the owners of those companies.

I found this poem and thought maybe I would put this in the invitations or somewhere where people can see it? What do you think?

The most wonderful day of my life was when I fell in love with you.
A moment that sang my soul free nourished my heart and
became the sweetest sensation that had ever touched my world.

We may not always agree, but I know deep inside
we truly want the best for each other, and that endearing
quality alone makes my life worth living.

Having you share in my life gives me my courage, my strength,
and my inspiration everyday to be a better person,
but I want to thank you for the most wonderful contribution of all,
the gift of your love. It completes my life in everyway.

Oh no I almost got booted to page number 2 lol, I have not been feeling so well lately so I just come in check out whats going on and usually go to bed. I have been sleeping so much. I fell asleep a couple times at work this week:bbredface:, Ok so now to more wedding stuff, the girls are trying on their dresses February 1st, I hope they like them. I know my MOH does but not sure about the other two. Everyone has different tastes, my little sister is kinda ghetto, FHs sister is very 80s, and my older sister is pretty modern, I am a little unique, this should be one fine day lol.

Thank you, I just think the whole weight thing has really been getting to me lately, I have lost 3 pounds in two weeks so that is making me feel better I am at 131 pounds now. It is weird people can tell already I have lost weight, my pants are getting looser which really feels good :). Thank you for the support, I know some people are like 131 pounds is not a big weight issue but to me it is it is very hard going from a size 2 to a size 10 in less than 2 years. I cant wait to go to the Dr.s and show her how good I am doing :)

Im not really sure when I had it, it came up in some blood work that I had done when my white blood counts were very very low so I got tested for everything from A-Z and it said I have had mono at one point in my life.I have a blood disorder called Nutropenia that makes my blood counts all over the place :(

Well I never went to the big sale (sorry Nik) , I slept most of the weekend away again. I did buy my wine glasses for the favors, and the ribbons they are so pretty they are ivory and the letters are pink. I bought my shoes off ebay and had not such good luck with them and the woman I bought them from is a Bitc...they came to my house in a beat up box and the shoes were dirty and the woman said i am a liar, whatever I like the shoes, I am just not thrilled by her attitude or the dirty bottoms of the shoes. Lets see what else, OH I bought my guest book it was 85% off at Hallmark so it was like $7.00 and I am trying to find the Lenox "swept away" cake topper for a good deal if anyone sees one please let me know!!! thanks jen

Yes the lady wouldn't take them back or even exchange them for a new pair. I like the shoes, I just wanted what I ordered. She gave me a horrible review on ebay which made me pretty mad. I won the shoes on 2/11 I paid for the shoes on 2/11 I emailed her on 2/16 just to see if the shoes had shipped yet because I paid for 2-5 days shipping and she got very nasty about it, stating it takes up to 9 days to get the shoes and so on, but the thing I clicked on when I paid for the shoes said 2-5 days, thats all I was asking. Maybe I come across too harsh????
My original email reads "Hi I was just wondering if my shoes had shipped yet? Also why haven't you left a feedback yet for me, most of the time I get a great feedback right away? Thank You, Jen

Do you see anything rude about that email? Seriously tell me, I have been told that sometimes I come across as being harsch and I dont even realize it. Now this is my latest email which I am not happy

Had you not been so rude right from the start the shoes being dirty on the bottoms would not been that big of a deal. They are dirty, I have no reason to lie. The tops are fine, but someone wore those shoes on something reddish and sticky. I am not sure if they were tried on and walked around in and they stepped in something? The insides don't look worn just the bottoms. I love the shoes and I will wear them to my wedding, but I dont appreciate being called a liar. I am not lying. I paid for my purchase ASAP on 2/11 and got the shoes 2/21, and when I asked you one simple question about the shipping you got defensive. I dont know what your problem is, but at least I had a reason to give you a negative feedback you had no reason to give me one. You are not a good business woman, especially when you call your customers liars. Now please leave me alone. Thank You Jennifer

BriansBride07
02-25-2007, 01:45 PM
I don't see anything wrong with your first e-mail. IMO it was wrong of her to pass judgement on the original e-mail and leave you negative feed back.

As for you 2nd e-mail you were direct and to the point.

nic1124
02-25-2007, 01:46 PM
I agree. I probably would've been much more rude.

shawnsgirl
02-25-2007, 09:50 PM
I thought you were very nice to her in the first email. I had run into that and asked a similar question and she said once the item is finished being rady to be shipped it will be shipped in two to five business days. I think you just asked and simple question and got more than what you asked for there. You had every right to be question it. As far as the red stuff on the bottom if it was never worn and that is probably how it was advertised I am assuming then you have every right to bring that to her attention and give her negative feedback as well.
As far and you second email good for you. She needed and deserved to hear that!

ladymelissa
02-26-2007, 02:11 AM
Your first email wasn't harsh at all. She so deserved the second email! I wouldn't worry about the feedback b/c I don't think customer feedback is as important as seller feedback. If you pay for your winning bids in a timely fashion, that is really the most important part.

Also, some people in this world are clearly insane and cannot work well with just about everyone else. That is why you see even the best ebay sellers with 99% positive feedback. It is rare to see 100% b/c no matter what you do, there will always be that one, clueless idiot.
