OMG, I got a notice in the mail today that my health insurance is going up again. It seems to go up a bit every year but this year is is going up like another $100 So now I will be paying over $300 a month :bbeek:
I work for myself so I have private insurance ... I've had Kaiser for about 3 or 4 yrs now. I don't know if I can afford $300 a month, I may have to look for something else.
My husband also has Kaiser, but his rate is much lower than mine. Why? because he is a man?! It isn't fair :snide:
So I'm curious, what do you all pay for health insurance?

WOW that is high. I don't have health ins. as I don't work so that really stinks when I have to go to the doc. or dentist.

Sorry ... I am sure we pay through the nose through our taxes but ... our health care is free (including all of it's flaws, like long waits for appts., surgeries they consider non emergency & shortages of doctors most everywhere).
If DH and I didn't work for a company that didn't offered added health insurance, then the Quebec government would pick up just prescriptions (minus a small deductible).
Some companies plans are better than others ... ie they would include prescription eyeglasses & orthodontics. We aren't that lucky. Our insurance covers dental, prescriptions, upgrade to a private hospital room, psychologists, physiotherapists, massage therapists etc.) .
My company offers health insurance but DH & I decided to put me onto his plan because it's better than mine. Both of our insurances combined are about $120 a month.

I think Nihcolas pays like $60 a week for him and I. And it will be about $70 a week when we add the baby. My ex covers the kids. I am not sure what he pays. I do know he almost could not cover my son any more. He claims our daughter and I claim our son. His company tried to tell them that they could over insure the peopl they claimed. That did not go over well with every oe in the store. Most of the gusy there are divorced and paying health insurance but not claiming their kids. Som ehow they company changed their mind. So there was no more worries.

I pay about $300 a month for medical and dental for myself, DH, and 2 kids. I think it's a pretty good rate.

Forgot about the kids .... my kids and DH's kids are also covered for this amount - until 21 years of age, so long as they are still in school.

I am still covered under my dad until the wedding. His is really cheap. My part is like $40 a month and that is for health, vision, dental, and prescription. Justin's insurance is not that good. I don't know how much, but it is not going to be cheap to add me.

Insurance sucks! I had pretty decent insurance (dental/med) when I worked in retail. It cost me about $80 per month for just me. When I went to work for the drs office we took out a temporary policy until we get married so I could make more an hour. This temporary policy costs over $100 per month and basically covers NOTHING.
What really sucks is that Mike can't add me to his insurance until we are officially married. Why is it that a same sex couple that lives together can but we can't? Ugh!

Lol...I actually couldn't afford Health Insurance in the previous province I lived in for what they gave us. Now that we're here in Saskatchewan it's supposed to be free. However, free doesn't mean it covers everything. Expensive fertility treatments and meds aren't covered. So if we need to do say IVF, we will pay $20,000 out of pocket. (well we'lll have to beg for some money from the inlaws probably.) If we do IUI (interuterine insemination) at $600 a cycle that will also come out of pocket. Thankfully they will only do that 4 times and if it doesn't work they won't keep making us waste our money!
Health insurance is a rip off!!!! Even before I had to pay all my dental and cancelled the one I did have because they wouldn't pay any dental. I ended up paying that $4000 out of pocket as well!! ARSE HOLES!! Lol

My work covers mine 100% but the rate for me is $221 per month, so yours does sound high.

In this country you have free healthcare, or you can choose to pay for private healthcare! Unless your on some kind of benefit then you pay for prescriptions though!

DH and I were looking at Kaiser's other plans and found one quite a bit cheaper (w/o maternity, vision and dental) so we may just go with that.
I can't even imagine what insurance is gonna cost when we are old!

Aren't insurance companies wonderful?? I have one poor friend who lives in Michigan and her hubby lost his job, now they can't start their fertility treatments and she's 36 or so and getting older. The poor girl is so saddened by it, she may never get the chance to have the baby she really wants! It really is retarded, these things shouldn't cost people or at least they shouldn't cost as much as they do!

Well so far it looks like NY is the most expensive aren't we lucky!!! Most companies dont even offer dental insurance here, but medical is ridiculous.

For my DH and I together, we pay $110/month for Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance. We were thinking about switching to my DH because he thought his was cheaper, but it ended up being the same price (like $2/mo cheaper) for the same coverage.
Our dental insurance for both of us is like $35/month or something like that...which we need desperately, for me, even though I just got my first dental bill and I have to pay out over $400 for my work now...:(
Both health and dental we have through my work and the eyewear insurance we have through my DH which costs us like $6/month.
