Hi everyone, I've been reading all of the journals, and since we only have three and a half months left I figured I'd try my hand at one. Unfortunately our computer crashed last night :( so I lost all of my pictures, besides the ones on the internet. Along with the guest list, and plans. I had an extremely bad day yesterday, I think I cried for 5 hours straight. I was really depressed about my weight, since I moved out of my mom's house 10 months ago I have gained about 20-30 pounds. I'm going to lose it and FH and I are starting Atkins on monday. I know it's not the best, but I've been on it before, I have more energy, lose weight, and feel better about myself. I will be on that until after the wedding when we can afford things like gym memberships. I'll write up a long post about our relationship and proposal and all that. For now, just bear with me, I'll get more pictures of us, and I'll post them and the pictures of me trying on my dress and all that. The story of how we met will be next, I just hope it won't be dull in comparison to all your stories, I've loved them all!

Sorry about your computer hun! We love them when they work don't we! Hopefully you'll be able to get it back together again. In the meantime, keep posting! Can't wait to see what you've got planned for your big day.

Thank you for your kind words you two. You know what the bad thing is? That comp was my birthday present from Max, and we got it in August! Thank you for your kind words. As for planning, here's what we have done:
Put downpayment on my dress, whole shibang
Pick out Venue, same for ceremony and reception
Gotten officiant and wedding planner (her job is just to set up/take down and make sure things go smootly)

And that is about it! Lol! Anyway, we have a meeting the 19th with a possible DJ. The next Saturday, me and my girls, my MOH and one BM, his sister who might be a BM if she is comfortable in a dress, the FG and I are going to DB to let them pick out their dresses. That weekend we are also making all of our invitations and hopefully sending them out soon-there-after. I know it's early to send invites, but we have a few coming from out of town and I don't want to send STDs so we're just sending invites early. Soon we are going to the local Tux shop to pick out Max's tux and his BM and if he has any GM then their tux's too. We are waiting to get decorations until after christmas when all the x-mas decor goes on sell and also after V-day when all that goes on sale too! LOL! I know what I want for centerpieces, just a matter of getting them. Anyway, I'll post pictures soon. I don't know what else I need to do, I've been having killer headaches, so if you all know anything I'm missing *which I'm sure is a lot* let me know. Oh, Max's aunt is going to make our cake and the rest of his family is also making all of the food for the reception. And his step-dad is hopefully, if it isn't raining *fat chance*, going to drive us off in his '55. It is even the right colors! If it is raining though then we are just going to get driven off in his monte carlo earnhart edition, gorgeous car, I'd prefer the '55 though! :winktongue:

Ok here's the outside of our venue in my beautiful hometown. This building is the local art associations building, so there is art everywhere. Now, we are not going to be in the art rooms, we are renting out one of the galleries and the kitchen for a very cheap price that includes tables, chairs, and even silverware and anything not paper or reusable!

http://uvarts.com/images/artCenter.jpg

And here is the room we are renting, I absolutely LOVE the windows!

http://uvarts.com/images/room.jpg

I want to do the ceremony in front of the three far windows, and then when the reception starts moving the ceremony chairs and making that the dance floor with the tables set up. I want to put up screens or tulle or something if the guests aren't setting at the tables for the ceremony to hide the tables from sight. It depends on if the tables are round or long though. I guess we will see!

Thank you for your kind thoughts! I sure hope you have more done then I have for the wedding, right? I feel so lazy with how much I've gotten done, but man, I'm cheap and have to wait for those sales! LOL! Are you going to use the sales after the holidays for decorations and what not? Our colors are white and red and we will have to splash some black into it (Max's sister doesn't look good in red, so I told her if she wants to wear black I'll make it work) so the holiday decor will work well. I can't wait for the V-day m&ms to come out in the pinks so I can eat all the light pink ones and the darker ones can be for favors and centerpieces along with the red ones from x-mas! I'm going to write up our story on how we met later, but right now my leg is cramping bad (it woke me up from a dead sleep last night it cramped so bad) so I need to go get some water to drink. I'll try to post it when I come back!

Hi! My colors were red with black too! I have some pix in my journal. I can't wait to see your dress!

Hey! You're name is Lauren, right? I've read your journal, actually yesterday. Congrats on your wedding, it was gorgeous! Actually, I have the same exact dress you do! Different veil and headpiece, but same dress! I'll try to post a picture when I get home. Or, if you have myspace you can go see my pictures there. it's www.myspace.com/coreenamay (http://www.myspace.com/coreenamay). Just an option. I'm probably going to have some straps put on it though so it looks like the FGs dress and so that I'm more comfortable. Did you have yours bustled? I'm considering it, but I don't know if I want to yet......I'm gonna go cruise the IE and see if I can get pictures of everything i want to do, and I'll post them here if I can find them!

I didn't want a big tiara, but since I have a lot of hair I didn't want something that would just get lost either. And I had to have roses in my attire somewhere! *wink*

And here is my veil. I also got a little blusher, both in ivory to match and the veil is the same in the picture with the Apple trim.

I hit the after Christmas sales last year and have been shopping clearances and sales ever since! Joe proposed on Christmas Day 2005. Our theme, if you want to call it that, is natural pine and berries. I came home at the end of January with 21 6' foot pieces of pine garland that I got for 75% off!! (That's my proudest purchase yet!!!) I also snagged some berries on clearance too.

I will probably check out the after Christmas sales this year too, for anything else we may need.

We have the big stuff done (DJ, photographer, venue, caterer, etc.) Now, we're down to little stuff (although, I'm not sure how little the cake and invites actually are).

I love love love the red on the guest book and I love your comb, it's so pretty!!!

I tried to post the story of how we met last night, but onewed ate it. I'm getting so excited, our friend's wedding is the 18th and I think we're going to ask her to stand with Max for the wedding. She's pregnant right now, so she'll be kinda large at the time of the wedding. I love pregnant bellies though, so she'll look perfect up there. Congrats on your 75% off, that's awesome, anything you can buy for a quarter of the price is the right price for me!

Well...thank you all for your kind words. Unfortunetly I just got some rather terrible news. Our venue failed to mention to me when I first contacted them that they do an annual fundraiser the last weekend of february every year, which also happens to be our wedding. The good news is that we can get it for another weekend, or we can look for somewhere else. I'm going to see what Max says, and then I'll go run to my mommy :winktongue: and see what she says. There are other places to have an indoor wedding here, but none as cheap and nice or that I'm sure are open three and a half months before the big day. My stress level just shot out the roof! Since our friend is having her wedding soon at a hotel I'm going to see if I like it and see if the venue would work for us. :icon_barbar: I'm so lost now, that was the one thing that was really good, where else can I find the site, tables, chairs, kitchen, utensils and everything for the day for under $200!?! Oh boy oh boy, I better go do some more research!

Kacie_bride
11-10-2006, 01:24 PM
I'm so sorry to hear that. Is there any way you can maybe move the wedding to Sunday or Friday? That might work.

max'sonlyone
11-10-2006, 01:29 PM
The fundraiser takes up the whole weekend. At least we haven't done the invitations yet, then we'd have to change all those. I'll looking at other places right now, might just end up doing it at the Community College or a local High school, the big one just got redone, we might do it there since that building is so nice. We'll see I guess....

Thank you so much for posting it! I just haven't found the time to post the picture off myspace! Thank you for your kind words! I kind of wish I wouldn't have gone into the shop with such a closed mind and tried on different styles and what not, don't get me wrong, I don't regret my choice at all, just that I didn't have more fun trying on all different styles of dresses! Thank you so much, your post for some reason just made me relax and remember that even if we do the wedding in my parents living room, the reason is not for everything to be perfect but to join our lifes in love! Thank you so much!:)

Well, I have good news, in a way. We are going to look at my first-pick venue tonight. It is a whole lot more expensive but gorgeous! I wanted to have it there, it's a ranch right outside of town, but I couldn't get the lady to give me a price before when we were talking over email. While Max was going on a calling frenzy calling anything that was big enough and decided to call them. So we got a price (1,500 for everything) and are going to look tonight. If nothing else, our decorations will take a blow for the price tag, but from the pictures I've seen of this place a lot of decorations would drown out the gorgeous place anyway, so cross your fingers that this turns out well! :whoohoo:

Here's a picture of where both the ceremony and reception would take place. After the Ceremony I was told we could go on the balcony for the recieving line while the staff sets up really quick for the reception. I love it, what do you think?

Hey everyone, I know I haven't written in a couple of weeks, I've just been so busy! Anyway, we put the payment on the venue to reserve our date and signed the contract for it. Also we met with our DJ and went of logistics and what not. For all the good we have gotten done there is just as much bad! Sunday FH rearended me at a crosswalk, so now his hood is bent and he's not to happy about that. :notsure: My FSIL, who I asked to be a bridesmaid for me, has taken on the roll of Matron of Honor, "since she's the only married one" and is trying to control everything, It's my wedding and if I wanted her to be the MOH I would have asked her to be. I mean I like her advice and input but don't want her controlling everything, ya know? Also, I am currently one week late for my monthly visit from the witch!!! I'm excited, we've been trying to get pregnant since August.... but I'm holding off testing until Thursday, if we wait until then Max can be there and we can tell our family's that night :whoohoo: ! I'm scared though, I don't want to find out that I'm just late but idk, I've been moody lately and not feeling very well. If we are pregnant I would be 7 weeks today. It scared me when we got in the accident though, i was so worried about our maybe little bean! Oh, about the accident, some cops were driving by right after it happened and so they stopped and when I told them what had happened they just started laughing. He got our ids, Max moved his car to where I had parked mine and the cops came over and the one said that he guessed we knew each others information so they didn't have anything to do with it. It was funny, a bad situation, but funny.

Well, I'm at work right now, and they'll probly get mad at me if they find out I'm online, but I don't care anymore, they can't decide if I'm going to have a job next week or not and if I do how many hours I get to work so me and my boss are fuming right now! I HATE the lumber industry right now, it's taken the pits since the canda borders were opened for lumber imports and our small community is taking a hard blow because of it. Oh well, guess if nothing else I can be a SAHM like Max and I were talking about last night, that'd be fun! Oh how exciting! Anyway, I'm going to go for now, I'll keep you all updated on everything! ladies!

Well... about the accident, his car has really bad, non existant struts, and I think since the weather was bad and I stopped quickly for the kids in the crosswalk; when his brakes locked up and he slid on the watered down cement straight in to my car! My neck really hurts from it, but we are all ok and the cars run. The bumper on my car is perfectly fine has a few scraps and his hood is bent. We think that since his shocks are bad, when the brakes locked up his front end kind of nose dived and went below my car. I'm just thankful that the radiator is ok and that I stopped for the kids in the crosswalk, because he was behind me and if I wouldn't have stopped and his brakes had locked up he would have hit those kids, possibly killing them. I'm just thankful for all of that. So we are ok, just anxious for thursday to come and see if we are pregnant, it's hard to wait, but I don't want to rush and for AF to show, so I'm waiting until Thanksgiving, which is even better because Max's b-day is the day after, so that is the best b-day present I can think of for him! thanks ladies for your support!

Wow! It's been a while since I've posted! First things first, I'm not pregnant :( just had a 60 day cycle! So we are going to continue trying until we are. Friday we put in our applications for a new apartment, since the current rental agency is lazy and telling us that we can't have a guide dog there. Our financial situation is in the pits too, at least with a wedding coming up. My hours have been cut to 30 hours a week, and my job ends right after the wedding. So some things have had to be cut with the wedding. A major one is the DJ, we don't dance, and our familys don't dance, so we are cutting the dj and dance floor. We are meeting with our officiant the 7th of January to go over our vows and what not. We chose Max's tux, and the table clothes. We have the major part of the invitations done, just have to print out and paste on the actual invitation part. Our centerpieces are going to be candy bouquets! We stopped at a little shop on friday and they are gorgeous! All of it is hand made and soooo good! Since we aren't having dancing at our wedding, we are going to have game stations set up. We are going to have poker, monopoly, uno, madgab, pictionary....ect. I think it's going to be a blast, I love games and our families do too and I just think it'd be a fun time to play games with all our guests! We aren't going to be doing a big cake or anything, just desserts and cakes from the local bakery. I'm excited, we didn't want formal or cheesy, but something that reflects us, and everything we've decided on fits us to the tee! I can't wait to go dress shopping with my girls though! That is going to be a blast!!!

I'll take pictures of the invitations me and my BM's made when I get home tonight. I'll also post pictures of Max's and my new bedroom set! I'm so excited about that, I love having matching furniture!

Sorry to hear your job is ending. But sounds like you are well on your way to a wonderful wedding day. We too didn't have a dj. We only played background music with a cd player. We only danced one dance and that was all. No one else danced either. Our reception was not formal, just friendly and cosy which was the way we preferred it.

When you say, guide dog do you mean a dog that assists with a visual impairment? If so is it even legal to ban that type of dog? That doesn't seem right.

Sorry to hear about your job, but your wedding sounds like it will still be wonderful.

Sorry about the job prob. Your ideas for the reception sound fine to me. I think that just as long as it reflects you and your FH then go with it.
I need to know though you aren't just going out now are you to get the BM's dresses?? That is kinda late. Or are you just getting them off the rack? and with different colors?? best of luck to you. can't wait to hear and see more.

That'd be correct, and it isn't legal for them to not allow me to have them there, but I'm not allowed to fight it. If I had an actual working guide, I would. But I'm not visually impaired, well I wear glasses but not to the level of needing a guide dog. I raise guide dog puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. Legally, in Oregon, the dogs in training have the same legal rights as working guides, but I'm not going to fight it incase anything comes of it, I don't want bad news going around the community or country about a crazy raiser just wanting a pet in the apartment. That's what they say too, is that I just want to have a pet in there, too bad I've had two pet dogs in there, including a pitbull, that they never found out about. And one neighbor now has a pitbull and another has a Cavieler King Charles Spaniel. Oh well, we're just going to move, the place is to small anyway, it's falling apart, and the company doesn't care about their tenants, so we're moving.

*blush* Yeah, we haven't gotten BM dresses yet, we're just going to buy them off the rack. Idk though if I'll even have BMs....they are all annoying me and just doing their own thing and they all want money! :icon_barbar: But yeah, next week I'm going shopping with my BMs to see if we can find some dresses.

Oh, I'm so sorry they are giving you a hard time. Just go a little BRIDEZILLA on them and tell them how it is. Take my advice I literally made myself sick over the whole ordeal with the dresses. But in the end it worked out and now I stick up for what I want. Even if they don't agree with me. Best of luck to you.

How much fun is that. To raise guide dogs for the blind what a wonderful thing to do.

*big smile* I love nothing more then to hang out with Max and raise my guide dog puppies! Schools are always looking for more raisers, so if you are interested, I know The Seeing Eye is over there and they have a good raiser program. I love raising, it is so nice and so great to see the puppies grow and mature until you hand that leash over to that visually impaired person, it is the nicest feeling on earth!

We only raise one at a time, well that has our name on it's paperwork. I'm part of a club that has anywhere from 3 to 12 pups in it at a time and I get to handle and watch all of them at my house and keep up with their progress. That's a great thing about raising, we have such a large community of just raisers throughout the world, really, but for our organization the 8 western states. With our club the puppies have to get passed around so that they learn to listen to other people and behave where ever they are. It is so fun, you never really know which pup you'll be getting next, it could be an 8 week old furball or a 15 month old mature calm old man or anywhere inbetween. It really tests the dog handling skills of some! But hopefully I'll be getting a new 8 week old in March. We'll see though, I get to watch one the week between christmas and new years, so that should be fun! If anyone wants to check out cute puppy pictures, guidedogs.com has some cute young puppy pics on it. And the site for our club that our leader and I are making is umpquavalleyguidingeyes.com.

:icon_barbar: I just picked up the mail and we got a letter and returned check from the rental agency that previously told me that we could have the guide dog puppies there saying that it's a nonpermitted pet! I am livid at the moment but sent a very, I think, respectful email back to them asking if it was just a misunderstanding on my part or if they were really saying no to a legally allowed guide dog in training.

I hope we get a good response, but if not, they don't deserve our money anyway! Here's the email I sent them.

Hello,

My name is Coreena S****** and I just got something in the mail saying that my fiance and my applications for 6** Luellen #** were denied because of an unpermited pet. I don't know if you still have my email that I sent you a couple of months ago, but I specified what the pet was and that it is not a pet. You responded to me by telling me that yes, the guide dogs in training would be allowed in a non-pet home. I was just wondering if there is some confusion as to what I meant on the applications or if this means that I was missinformed when I was told that we could have our legally allowed guide dogs in training at a non-pet residence. Please let me know as soon as possible please, so that I can clear things up. Thank you for your time and response.

Coreena S******

The e-mail sounds great! Maybe you will need to bring the registered papers to the homeowner's and see if then there will be no misunderstanding. That way you will be proving that it is not a house pet. I wish you all the best.

Well...I was wrong. Guide dogs in training are not legally allowed in a non-pet residence. They are legally allowed in any public accomidation, but not residence. So.....unless we can find something willing to let us have the guide dogs there, I'm puppyless until we either buy a house or rent a pet approved place. We really want to move right now, need to expand our horizans and get a bigger place where our little family can grow. Right now, I'm willing to give up having a pup to move, so looks like I will be taking a couple of years off of raising for now. I'll still be involved in the club and everything and with Guide Dogs, just won't be an actual puppy-raiser. :jpticked: How I want a puppy to raise again......:icon_barbar:

Try doing a search for apartments that allow pets. There must be something out there. rent.com is a site that lets you search for apartments based on your needs. Good luck!

Thank you Melissa, but unfortunetly our little community doesn't have any apartments on there and there just aren't a lot to choose from around here. With Max's job we could afford basically anything and the only reason we don't buy a house right now is because we don't have the credit. It's just what we want to pay that we are going on. A break from raising might be nice, I need to destress my life and raising is a very stressful way to volunteer. We'll see though......

On a different note, I went to Max's mom's house today to pick up Microsoft Vista, the new Operating System that's coming out in the new year, because Max crashed our computer and I had to reinstall the OS. Anyway, I was at FMIL's for over two hours today just hanging out and talking with her and she's so excited about the wedding and was even talking about us having babies soon! It was soooo cute she said something about Max's spending habits and that when our babies come he'll have to learn how to spend money better! It was just really sweet. Right now we're looking for new cars, I want an Escalade (won't be for a couple years) and I think I'm going to talk Max into the Infiniti G that he wants so bad. He doesn't want it because it's higher end with a higherend price tag, but I want him to be happy with his car and if I could do that for him, I'm going to.

:pompom: Something great happened yesterday! More then I could have ever wished for!!!! Yesterday Max and I went around town and tried to find a house to rent, or an apartment that would take our guide dog puppies, or at least a cat. Around noon we found one that would take just about anything for a minimal deposit, but the security deposit was 900 and the rent was 800 a month and that's just too much money. We could do it any other month, but this month we have to pay off my dress and put the last 1,700 towards the venue for our wedding so we just don't have that kind of money laying around. Well, my sister wanted me to go to the local animal shelter with her to go get a behind the scenes look at some of the dogs that the general public can't see since one of her old work mates now works there. Anyway, after we were done there she talked us into stopping at this apartment complex that takes all animals under 35 lbs to see if they would make an exception for us. Well....they would and they would take us, for a discounted rent and deposit. And! We could have the guide dog puppies along with 1 other large dog or any number (within reason) of small dogs and cats. It's a two bedroom downstairs apt. with a dishwasher and it's perfect for us! But that's not the best part, they also had two studio apartments open where my twin could move into, the only thing being that she would have to get a job before she could turn in her application. They could hold it for her for three weeks. These apartments are very desirable and from wednesday they rented out ten and the only reason we got ours is because people were evicted and some cancelled. Anyway, Max and I were going to whatever we could to get Ally a job somewhere so she could live on her own and spread her wings, so to say. Well I woke up this morning and there was a message on my phone from the apartments for her, they have a job for her! I'm so excited!!! Wednesday I'm going to pick up my cat from the local SPCA where one of the guide dogs puppy raisers work and then friday we find out what happens next. I can't wait, I have a job interview on Wednesday for another part time job and that way we can afford everything and afford to help Ally get into her apartment ASAP! We bought her a little present yesterday, she used to train elephants at the local safari, but got cut since they aren't making enough money this year. So Max and I bought her a carved elephant end table from Thailand! It's gorgeous, but she doesn't get it until she moves into her apartment. It'll be so nice to live just down a couple buildings from my sister, I've missed her so much, and her little munchkin sheltie, Teddy!!

Well, my job interview on Wednesday went very well, I find out on Monday if and when I'll be working there, and on Monday we also get to start moving into our apartment!!!! I'M SOOOO EXCITED!!! I've wanted this for so long, and now that it's finally happening, I don't know what to do! Well, one thing I have to do is clean this house, it is sick, and I'm using Mr. Clean Magic Erasers on everything, even the walls, so that the rental agency has no reason to keep our deposit. Better get on it, Monday isn't very far away! :pompom:
