Let me give this a try this is what ive been told it usually depends on the designer for the color so every designer might call it something different.
Usually though white is a bright white
Diamond White is like an off white but will photograph white
Ivory is a creamy white and may also photograph white.
Hope that helps.

My Dress was Diamond White. It was a very bright white. It almost had a hint of blue because its was so bright white. As far as i know the white white is a little duller and ivory is more cream like.

I would love you give you my input but the only difference I know is that white, is your normal white you see and the ivory is a creamy off white. I don't know about diamond white at all. Sorry!

I'm not 100% sure but i thought diamond white was supposed to be a brighter white too. Did they give you the wrong color dress by mistake?
i was also told diamond white is brighter and it "tends" to go better with most skin tones over white (esp photographed). but that being send, try on both if u can, some tones do better with white. for white and diamond white looked different on my skin tone. i liked diamond white better

My dress is also diamond white and I was told that because I am so pale and can't tan worth a darn that the plain white will make me look really pale and washed out.
I was told that the diamond white does NOT have the tint of blue in it, thus not making me look so pale. White does have tints of blue in it. You really can't tell the difference until you put diamond white and white against each other. The lady that I bought my dress from showed me the difference. So as long as you don't put plain white against a diamond white dress, no one will know the difference. But when you do put them together, yes, you can tell that the diamond white is a little brighter.
If you look at my wedding journal, I have a picture of me in my dress. You can't really tell that it's diamond white, at least to me, it looks white.

No matter what color you really use, your pictures will show it simply white. So be wise in choosing the price. I would personally go with the diamond white, since it is such a clean and cool color.

Diamond white is the brighter, "icier" white. It should have no tint (either blue, or any other color). "White" is the white you are used to seeing in RTW clothing. Between white and ivory is a shade called candlelight.
Whatever you choose, it should be the shade that most compliments your complexion, not what is currently most popular in your area.

When I went in to get my dress I spoke to the lady about this white issue. She explained that depending on the company there deffinitions are different. My dress is called white, and it's the same as diamond white but the company doesn't have a diamond white per say. their dark white is regular white, and their ivory is just that lol.
I was so confused, especially when she asked me what colour i wanted, all I could think about was this thread lol.

Some places online that make bridal veils will send you free swatches of all the different colors. Thats what I did because my dress is listed as ivory but doesnt have the usual ivory undertones. It looks white until it is put against white.
Diamond white despite the name is not pure stark white. You would think it would be but nope. There are no "blue" undertones in it. Some manufacturers screw up the name and make stark white (synthetic white) diamond white. But a good dress manufacturer and seamstresses, will tell you the difference.
Diamond white Its more like the color of white silk; almost an off white. White is stark synthetic white (think Polyester blends)-they ddint have that shade of white when most of our mothers were getting married because most of them were wearing real silk. It looks white in photos and unless you hold it up against stark white, you cannot tell the difference. Diamond white is just kinder to most skin tones because its not so harsh and your eyes and teeth wont end up looking off because of the bright color.
The following info is from a website below:
White is best for synthetic gowns. Diamond white looks best with silk or off-white gowns. An ivory gown may look good with either diamond white or ivory tulle, so buy a foot or so to try out. You may also be able to find candlelight tulle, which has a warmer, pinker cast. A range of colors is available at most fabric stores but the wider widths may be limited to a few basic shades.
Also if you want ivory, try and get a swatch of your gown when you go for your veil unless you're getting your veil from the same place because ivory varies; it can be dark ivory which is very yellowish, light ivory which is almost white or plain ivory which is in between.
www.veilshop.com (http://www.veilshop.com)
This is a website that I used-they will send you free swatches of tulle if you ask them to. Its fantastic to have when you're matching your veil to your dress. Shows all the colors and which manufactuers make gowns that fall into the color categories. Hey its free!
