Watch this short clip and then decide if you think that there should be at least the rule that students that go to school tuck in there shirts.

I am all for dress codes, not necessarily for that reason, but kids should learn to look presentable. If they are dead-set on bringing a weapon to school whether their shirt is tucked or not probably wouldn't stop them.

His attire was 10 times better than what I've seen out of some of the kids around here, but sadly if they want to bring a weapon to school baggy clothes or not....they will.
I'm all for a dress code too...it gets rid of a lot of problems and then they can concentrate on what they should be ACADEMICS!

My children have to wear a school uniform! i think every school here does! I think it makes them look a lot smarter and cuter especially on school photos!! Id hate to have to find a different set of clothes everyday for them and when they get older, mt daughter taking forever to decide what to wear!!lol As for weapons in school, its not really that bad here for that, ive heard of a couple of school stabbings in the last couple of years?!?!?

I'm all for uniforms/dress codes in school.
Unfortunately though, I think that these kids will find ways to bring weapons into the schools one way or another.

I wore a uniform and loved it! No decisions to make regarding what I was going to wear and no fashions that I had to keep up with!

When I was in high school I was in uniform. I did not go to a catholic school this was just a normal public school called an academy. I loved it. There was never a fight for who has what and who doesn't. Plus it really gave us a sense of school spirit and unity.
If someone came to school and wasn't wearign their uniform properly or had there pants down past their bums they were either asked to change it then and there or sent home.
Kids need to learn respect. It's a fact that a first impression stays. Is someone sees you for the first time does the word thug really want to come to mind?
We still had our issues with weapons with the uniforms, that won't change, but it made everyoen the same, and I still see kids from my high school walking home and think "wow it looks good!"

Wow, that video is pretty scary!! Most of the schools (middle and high) in and around NYC have metal detectors at all entrances. So, that would pretty much be impossible. Really really scary though!

When I was at school in my hometown, they had a dress code, sort of. It was kind of "You must look presentable" sort of thing. But now, there is this big thing that they are letting the minorities get away with a lot more things. When I was in school is was a very strict "No hats in school" and now they are letting minorities where hats in the school because "Its part of their culture." So the non-minority kids are getting upset because some of the kids are getting away with stuff they can't and its very unfair now. When I told Alex about this, his comment was "well, then I guess the white kids could go to school in KKK outfits because thats part of their culture as well." Its a little extreme, but it does fly the same way in my book. A "dress code" should be inforced for all of the students equally...

I think they should have a dress code, here the kids dress like they are straight out of the ghetto, pants to their ankles, bandannas I literally turn my ring around when I see these types of kids coming, I don't care if they are white black or puerto rican I dont trust any of them, now if they had a dress code they would not be allowed to wear the gang colors to school.

Where my kids go to school there really isn't a dress code but there are rules that have to be followed. Or it can lead to suspension from school.
The girls cannot wear any strappy shirts, tank tops ect. No low cut front or back shirts and no see through shirts. There skirts have to fall to where ever their fingertips are touching on there legs. NO obsence or drug/alcohol related jewerly or clothing. For the boys they are not allowed to wear pants that have a saggy behind that they are not able to run in gym class if you have to continue to lift up your pants your parents will be called. NO showing your boxers and also like the girls no obscene ect. clothing. Also no wearing any bandanaa's of the color white, red, blue for girls and boys. As these are the gang colors. First offense for not following the above rules is, is calling your parents and putting on the proper clothes. 2nd offense is a detention and 3rd offense is suspension, if it continues you can be expelled from the school.
It seems to be working as of yet but some kids just don't care and continue to dress this way. But I have no yet heard of anyone getting expelled for not following the rules after the 2nd or 3rd time. Only children being expelled for bringing knives into school. Which is totally another subject in itself.

Kids wear whatever they want in our city schools, if you ever get the chance look at our news or our newspaper and see how many teens are dying or being shot or stabbed on a daily basis, they need to do something to make it stop. It is very sad that a color blue, red, green, black can make you kill someone else.

Yeah ok... so i am young and my opinion probably dont matter but i will say it anyways! we had the same rules in school.... NONE of the "In Crowd" was forced to follow at all i have friends that wear baggy clothes and when i was in school my first love was a white boy that dressed like he was straight street! Clothes dont make the person if that was the case or scenario i would be a club SKANK but im not... i would have been a slut label in school but i wasnt we had school functions everyday and i wont lie i dressed how i wanted they didnt say a word... i dont agree with uniforms and i dont agree with the fact that ppl judge instantly by the way you dress! I am engaged to an all out "ABERCROMBIE" aholic! i worked for them and i own ALOT of there mini skirts and anyone that knows abercrombie or hollister knows when they say MINI they mean MINI! Besides how can they push that issue with long skirts when cheerleaders asses hang out! i know that for a fact i was 1 from pee wee to capt at graduation! sorry so long but like i said my opinion prolly dnt mean much but really just thought that someone might like to know waht i feel being i am young and interested!

Well my school never really had a dress code for a long time but when I got into junior high (I think it was, could be wrong), they changed it to: can't wear shorts/pants that come higher than your finger tips when arms are held down at side (people tried to raise their shoulders lol), and can't wear shirts that come up in the back when you bend over, can't wears shirts that have smaller than an inch of strap over shoulders. I think it worked well, but some people cheated the system. Oh, and if you had holes in jeans, they had to be covered or patched somehow.
The guys would have huge holes in their jeans like having one cheek falling completely out and boxers were all you saw.
