Here's a mystery for you....a few weeks ago, I ordered some clothing from J.C. Penney's, including a black and white dress that I wanted to wear for my bridal shower. When I got the dress, it had a hole in it, so I returned it to the catalog department and they reordered it. The next day, I ordered two pairs of pants and a sweater online (I have a heck of a time finding pants that are long enough).
This past Thursday, I come home and there are three bags on my porch from JC Penney. One had a heavy box in it and the other two were light, like they had clothing in them. I open the first one with the box in it and the packing list says "Black and White dress". I was on the phone with mom and told her not to hang up yet, this is probably going to be funny when I open this box that is supposed to be a dress. I open the box and find a knife set with a knife block. Mom was laughing hysterically. We decided that wearing knives and a block to my shower probably wouldn't be acceptable at the restaurant.
I hang up with mom and open the second package, it's my black and white dress, with no packing slip or paperwork. I open the third package, it's the pants and sweater, with the proper packing slip.
So, now, I have a knife set that I didn't order - the sticker on the set matches the invoice number on my dress packing slip, as does the sticker on the actual dress package.
Both Dad and Joe wonder if someone bought us something from Penney's and shipped it to me and Penney's goofed up the slip. It would be easy to check if we had registered at Penney's, but we didn't. I sent a long e-mail to them last week about it to see if they can figure it out, or if the knives were just mis shipped.
Can you see me going into the store trying to return a knife set with a packing slip for a black and white dress?
