Resizing pictures

I wasn't really sure where to put this, but I need help resizing on here. I read in a post that you have to an editing program, and I have edited the pictures to be smaller. No matter what size they are on photobucket, they appear huge on here. Any suggestions?

In your photo editor can you select how many pixels per inch (ppi) you want to change the pic to? If so, make them no larger than 550 - 600 ppi on thier biggest side and select "maintain proportions." Make sure the smaller verion is saved on your hard drive and only upload the smaller one to Photobucket. I have never had a problem.
