I was just curious, how do you stay motivated enough to keep with a weight loss plan? I always start something, then I can never stick with it. I get really depressed when I don't see results so I basically give up. Thanks!

Don't think of it as being a short term thing, try to make it a lifestyle change. The most important thing you can do is to workout and workout really hard. If you do that consistently, you can eat pretty much whatever you want and not worry excessively (about weight anyways, you still need to have healthy foods for your health). If you have a bad day, don't completely throw in the towel, get back out there the next day.

I agree with Melissa about most of that-all but the excercise thing and that is only because I hat to excercise!!! She is right though, if you excercise enough it makes the eating part easier b/c you don't have be so careful.
Something that keeps me motivated (when I am actually trying, unlike now!) is having someone do it with me, or someone that kind of keeps me accountable, like asking how my eating has been today, or something like that. This way I know that someone else will know when I have screwed up so I tend to screw up less. I personally really like weight watchers and they have been successful for me in the past.
Some people also put pictures of either what they want to look like, or what they don't want to look like to keep them motivated. I also make it a habit to try on a pair of pants that I would like to fit, or wear a realy tight pair for a while so I can think "man these are uncomfortable, if I could just lose 10 more pounds!" Hope this helped! Weight loss is really a personal thing, just b/c it worked for me doesn't mean it will work for you. Good luck!!!

That is about me ... I guess I get caught up with work and other things too. I really need to get motivated and make the time to take better care of myself.
I tell myself 'at least I walk the dogs every day' But I know that is not enough ... and when it gets colder I am probably not gonna want to do that as much.
I think for me another problem is my allergies ... half the time I wake up feeling like **** and I don't want to do anything. Then I get caught up with work and everything else, then it is time to make dinner or whatever and I don't feel like doing anything then either.
I really need to get off my arse and get motivated, I want to take better care of myself ... I don't want to end up like my mother. Jeez, that should be motivation enough!

Well this time around I stay motivated by the fact that I ordered my wedding dress 2 sizes smaller than my size when I went dress shopping! So I have no choice, whenever I think about eating everything that my family is eating I think of my dress :) But in all seriousness, I tried weight watchers a couple of years ago and never even lost 5 pounds in three months. Now I started WW again 6 weeks ago and I lost 3 pounds the first week and 4 the next, so with that type of loss it kept me motivated. But with changing my eating habits I have also purchased a pilates tape and am doing that as often as possible and have taken up tennis. it takes a lot of work but I just keep thinking of getting to my goal and how good I will feel about myself. So I hope this helps!

My biggest motivation came when I started to watch what I ate and I saw my waist line disapearing. I just thought "wow, that wasn't that hard" and I kept doing it. Sure I have my moments of McDonalds for dinner or a pizza etc, but I just make sure that's not all I eat.

Well to add to this from my own personal experience, I have tried so many different diets and what not, but I must say if you have the time and money to go to weight watchers I definitely recommend it. I have gone every week for the last month and a half and I know that if I didn't weigh in every week that I would have given up!

The best thing I would have to say is exercise, exercise exercise!
It especially helps if you have someone to do it with. It's just someone to kick you in the butt when you don't feel like it.
As soon as you see the smallest results you'll really be on a mission.
Good luck!

Does anyone have any good workout videos that they have watched/used before? I always thought that I would be more inclined to work out at home (even though my college had an awesome gym, I just don't have the two hours to devote to the gym three nights a week like some people do).

I use the winsor pilates tapes, They are great and they are not so difficult that you can't keep up or want to quit half way through :)

Windsor Pilates is good, you don't really feel like you're working out.
I also have core secrets with the ball. I've had the most sucess with this one.

Thanks gals! I will def look into those tapes!
I find looking at a bad picture of myself keeps me motivated. Whenever I see it it makes me remember why I am working out.
I workout to Turbo Jam (http://www.beachbody.com/jump.jsp?itemID=176&itemType=CATEGORY&path=1,2,21) and really enjoy it, It has good music and she really keeps you motivated.

I have done that before. I used to run on the treadmill and I would run in a sports bra and spandex...and I would out a long mirror in front of the treadmill so I saw myself as I ran. Talk about motivation! However, we don't have the treadmill anymore. Also, I never saw any results so it un-motivated me.
Does the Turbo Jam work good and give you good results?
Turbo Jam does work! Plus its fun! There is a lose up to 10pounds and 10 inches in 10 days challenge you can do.. and I lost 8 lbs in those 10 days! It is tough to do but well worth it!

That would be nice! I just really want to be healthier. I don't eat the way I should with being at school and everything and being poor! I have started to see wrinkles and dimples in places that there didn't used to be and it really sucks!
