From my ex SIL I received a toilet brush holder shaped like a grunting pig (sorry, couldn't find any pics that even came close). If she was trying to send me a message, I am only sorry it cost her money to do so. I wouldn't even put it out into a garage sale it went straight into file 13.

My best friend received a beauuuuuuuuuutiful crochet doll toilet paper cover from her MIL when she married. It looked something like this.

I would have to say that my worst presant has been when I got a used bunny a few years back when I was collecting dolls and such. The thought was wonderful but upon further inspection of the bunny it stunk (musty smell) and it was dirty after taking off some the clothing. It went into a bag and straight into the garbage. When my friend showed up a few weeks later to visit and she asked where did you put the bunny. (I explained to her that my big dog got a hold of it and ripped it to pieces). I truley believe she bought this from a second hand store to save $ but come on the thing was nasty.
Also 2 years ago when my gram was still alive she was suffering from altimerzers (sp) and she wrote on the tag to Tina and love (lol she forgot his name). When I opened the present there was a pink turtleneck in the box. I bursted out laughing and my gram said to me "what's wrong doesn't he like pink". I didn't want to hurt her feeling and I said no gram Brian will love it. poor lady I didn't mean to laugh but that was just priceless. The same x-mas she wrote on the kids packages tina's boy and tina's girl and got the outfits messed up My poor son ended up with a Bright pink sweat suit and my daughter ended up with a dragon sweat suit. (my kids only sleep in sweat suits) I pulled them aside and told them to go and give great grandma a big kiss and hug and tell her thankyou for the outfit. My son is like "no mom its a girls outfit". I reminded him again about his grams forgetfullness disease and that she didn't do it on purpose and when we got home we would switch the gifts and hope to god she doesn't want you to try it on but if she does you will say ok and do it for your 82 yr old grandma. LOL sorry so long. But it was so sad to see her go almost a year ago 5 years before x-mas and i'm just glad that this post came along so I also could share.

That's a cute story.

Reminds me of the time that my 17 year old girl got a barbie knockoff from great grandma. Her 15 year old brother got spiderman socks. My kids thanked her for her gift as well. LOL she is as sweet as anything but she seems to think the kids are still 6 and 4.

BTW - thanks for the reminder to remind my son to thank his grandmother for his most recent gift.

Let's see, the ones that pop to recent memory are the first christmas my children's father and I celebrated. He bought me a toaster and a sweater. The sweater was a size XXXL and I wore a medium. The other that comes to mind was my in-laws one time when short on money bought me a washcloth. Nothing else, just a washcloth.

Now I am not materialistic by any means, but the worst gift I received, had to be a wedding gift from my best friend of all people..

She bought my husband Bryan and I a cookware set from... FAMILY DOLLAR. It was so cheap that it looked (and felt) like those kid cooking playsets. I'm saving it for my neice when she's a little older so she can "pretend" cook with those cheap things!

I was with the ex. and the year that we were that short on money, I bought a package of glass Christmas ornaments and I painted an ornament for each and every person in the family. Every year since, whether I could afford to buy a gift or not, I sent a personalized hand painted ornament of one kind or another.

My ex family doesn't talk to me any longer but I still send a box of ornaments. For all I know they use them as kindling.

That would be a gift to treasure and love. One of my fav's once was a hand painted ornament with my DD baby picture placed inside from my ex SIL when their money was tight as well. I still treasure it.

The Christmas gifts of '04 weren't all that bad but the way I got them was horrible....

My ex and his mother decided that since the "D" word was being utilized that instead of being nice (as I had chosen to do) and go ahead and give the gifts in the traditinal manner they would "sack up" my gifts in case I wasn't there....however I was there and after everyone got done receiving their gifts (I had sat there for 2 hrs without a single **** thing) his mother said "Oh, "HER" gifts are in that sack over there", and she pointed to the wall next to the back door....I had seen the sack and thought it was a bag of trash....yes, they put my gifts in a black garbage bag (no wrapping) and his sister picked it up and literally dropped it in front of me....I started crying and sat there while they all stared at me as I pulled the gifts out of a garbage bag. I got the message loud and clear but in defense of myself I was trying to be nice and not ruin everyone's Christmas...I should have just stood up and left without taking the presents but at the time I was still trying to be civil about the whole mess~!

One of the worst Christmas presents ever was a gift I got last year from Justin's grandmother. She bought me a moo moo (one of those over sized old lady night gown/wear around the house things). On top of that it was about 2 sizes to big. I found the store it was bought from to try and take it back, but they told me they wouldn't take it because it was over a year old. She had apparently bought it the year before when it was clearanced.

When I was younger I use to get socks, underwear and fruit from my grandparent

One year I got makeup from my mom  (lucky I got anything that year I guess)

I've gotten lots of things I didn't like and had to take back, but those are the ones that stand out ;)

I have to say that the worst presents I ever got were when I was a child. My parents used to buy us underware and give it to us at my grandparents house. And for some odd reason all of my aunts and uncles and even parents and grandparents thought it would be funny to make us model them EVERY freakin year!! How embarassing!! Especially if one was lucky like me and got seven pairs of underware with all the days of the week on them!! YUP YOU GUESSED IT, I had to model them all!! *UGGG*

I think the worst present I ever got was form Joe's Dad last Christmas...
He bought me a jacket, one from like the 80's with the different colored patches of suede, or whatever... Like this one!!! LOL!!

I could not imagine, must of been one of those gifts where you smile and say thanks and then they go straight to the trash.

The worst thing I have ever recieved for a gift was from an ex boyfriend's fam. They were very 'homey' people, not in a bad way, just very nice, and very pure people. But when I had gone out of state to visit friends, and met them there for the first time, they gave me a gladd unicorn. That wouldn't have been so bad, but then 'mom' told me that it was given to my boyfriend's sister for Christmas, and she didn't like it, and thought maybe I would.
