Okay so I finally decided to start my wedding journal here on one wed. Thought it was well past time...I'll start off I guess from the beginning.
How We Met:
Shawn and I originally met in college and shared the same group of friends. Although him and I didn't talk much we both knew eachother and actually had some classes together. It wasn't until years later that we really got to know eachother. Last summer I was out with some of my girl friends enjoying a girls night out at Fisher's Pub in Milton. Little did I know That Shawn was enjoying a guy's night out with his friends at the Fisher's Pub as well. We happened to run into one another and asked the question, Don't I know you from somewhere? We ended up exchanging phone numbers and re-kindled the friendship all over again. Shawn and I realized that our friendship we shared was both very special and precious to the both of us and later realized it was much more than that!
How We Got Engaged:
Shawn and I had planned months ago of going to a Nascar race in Richmond! Nascar is one of the many interests Shawn and I have always shared! We left on September 9 for a long drive with 2 other couples that happen to be close friends. Shawn for a reason unbeknownst to be was in a big hurry to get in our seats once we got to the track. I just thought he was excited but he surely had other plans in mind! WE finally got to our seats and we go through all of the pre race events including the driver introductions. As Dale Jr went by I begged shawn to let me go down and snap a picture. He kept telling me just to stay put! I was getting frustrated becuase I wanted to take that picture for him but eventually just let it go. By the time the last driver was introduced I decided I better use the ladies room before the race starts. I tell shawn where I am going and he says well hurry up!! I went to the ladies room and headed back to my seat. On my way up the bleachers I see the two other couples who sat 3 rows ahead of us have a banner down at their feet. I say to them, "AHH you brought a banner how neat" I get up to my seat and I tell Shawn about this banner and he told me it was for their daughter's birthday which was the following day. Finally, they have the national anthem sung, and the invocation was given. We sit down in our seats and the famous words of "gentlemen start you engines" is given. I see this long banner go in the air which at first I didn't even read it; but thought heck they have their banner backwords! I begin to read it and it says, "Go Dale Jr. #8 Jonelle: Will you marry me? I look over at Shawn who is on one knee with the ring and he asks me, will you marry me? I ofcourse in a state of complete shock said YES!!! The crowd cheered for us when shawn yells she said yes. It truely was perfect and I was definatly surprised!

Well, I think we have made some great progress for planning the big day. We're having the ceremony at out church which I have been a member of since well, forever. Then we are having our reception in the grand ballroom at a hotel called The Genetti. It looks like we're planning for 150-220 guests!! So far I have found my DJ, Cake baker, cermony site, reception site- which includes catering- I'm in the process of deciding between two photographers, and I guess the next thing on my list is a florist then videographer. I've started making pew decoration of flower balls..I think that will be the only DIY project besides the save the date cards and invitations...I don't have much time for the DIY projects...I posted in a thread for favors..I think we're having coasters and adding a special message to them..I also found my gown and as well the bridesmaids gown as well. We're doing wine, cream, and gold for our colors. I don't think we really have a theme but if it was it would be family. We're having a special song dedicated to our parents and we're doing a few other special things to show our love for both our families...
So far, things seem to be coming along really well and I'm figuring september will be here before we know it!! Well, I guess that's all for now!!! TTYL

Congrats on the wedding. What a sweet proposal story. My DH and I love nascar as well. We just got back a few weeks ago from our belated honeymoon from the races at Talladega Speedway. Every thing sounds wonderful so far.

Thank you...I think the hardest part was chosing the colors for me because I like so many options that are out there. Anyhow, Our admin. asst. is engaged and here fiance has a band and play aucustic guitar. I already have my DJ squared away but I had asked about him and his band mates playing for the ceremony as far as the for the prelude, processional, unity candles, and recessional. He said he would do it in a heartbeat!! I'm not sure how much this will cost in the end but I'm pretty sure we'll get a great deal. I love acustic guitars and the way they sound; much better than an organ!! I have to talk to Greg (my friend's fiance) a little more about it and soo I will know for sure. He's definatly talented and as well plays almost anything!! I'm so excited!! Anyhow, if I need to get him sheet music Canon in D or something classical like that where do I find that sort of stuff does anyone know???? Well, I better get back to work....I'm getting addicted to this place LOL!!

So yesterday I did some shopping on Ebay and found a veil and tiara to match my dress. You can see it in the pictures of my gown but on the bodice there is gold threaded in with the embelishments throughout the gown along with pearls. I got my veil and tiara both with shipping under $20.00...I'm praying it will all coordinate with the dress, I won't know until february but if not I can always re sell it I suppose...I'm really excited that I got such an awesome deal. I never thought of buying anything on ebay but after my friend bought her wedding dress on there and had here expectations more than met I just couldn't resist shopping...Next thing I'm getting is I think will be the ring bearer pillows and flower girl basket!!! Here is my latest buys along with my dress what do you think???

I don't have much new wedding related stuff to post but I was thinking today some random thoughts of how lucky I truely am. First off, my fiance. He is more than wonderful. I have never loved anyone or been loved by anyone as much as I do know. He is not only a wonderful FH but he's a wonderful father too. My two boys Dylan and Kyle just love him so much and he is such an awesome father figure since there bio figures' is great at all. I am so lucky that I found someone who love me like shawn does and loves our boys like he does. He truely is wonderful. Another thing too is I feel lucky because of the freinds I have. So far just being engaged taught me who my TRUE friends are. I am so lucky to have 7 girls in my life that are there for me like they are. They support me and shawns relationship to no end and I am so grateful for that. I know my 7 bridesmaids have been cooking some things up for my shower and bachlorette party and I am just so lucky to have friends that will do these things with little disagreement and with such pleasure! I think they really enjoy keeping everything a secret from me to!! I don't know I guess I just felt like rambling because I just feel like I am on cloud 9. I hope no one takes my post the wrong way cause I'm not gloating more so just counting my blessings. l just feel like god has really blessed my life and this is the happiest I have ever been despite shawn loosing his job almost 6 months ago and just now finding one only weeks before in unemployement runs out. It was a very rough and stressful time for both of us and it seems as if things are beginning to turn for the better. I just feel so blessed that's all!!!

Well, I got a few things accomplished this weekend. I took a trip to Ac moore and got cards stock and supplies to make our save the date cards to send out here in a few months. A couple of months ago I bought software to do your own invitations and used this to do the save the date cards. I got card stock in wine for the background and printed on the cream. I got this neat stamp with a quote that says: "The only love we keep is the love we give away" and got gold ink to add. I will scan a copy and see if I can post it here so you can see what it looks like. I was pretty impressed how they are turning out since I'm not the craftiest person around. My fiance even helped which was fun that we could sit and do these together. I still have a ton to do but it was fun that we at least got them started. I think I'll ask a few of the bridesmaids to join me and have some fun with them. September can't get here soon enough. I just can't wait for the wedding but I have so much to do...
Let alone I am still gathering guests lists and deciding on a final count that we're actually inviting too. Plus, there's the DJ to book, florist, videographer, and photographer. I'm trying to keep within the budget but it is sooo hard. I guess my goals to finish for november is this...
Get final count for guest list
book DJ
check out remainder vendors and compare (florist, Videographer, photographer)
Finish save the date cards
start looking for favors
I think that should be more than enough to do for november. Then I think I can enjoy the holidays more and get all of my x-mas shopping done too! Then come january I'll mail out save the date cards and decide on the invitations and start working on them little by little. I never realized how much there is to do and I'm only just beginning. When I sit here and think about it my heads begins to spin!!! LOL I love it though, as crazy as it may get it is a heck of a lot of fun!!!

Things have been pretty crazy these past couple of weeks. Between Shawn starting his new job, Christmas just around the corner, and my oldest son coming down with a high fever and no other real symptoms literally stumping his doctor, the last thing on my mind has been wedding planning. Well, one thing that has been decided upon is our florist this month. My mom actually does business with a place called Gift n Goodies. They're usually extrmely over priced but they are giving us a huge discount. My flowers are only going to run us about $100 or so including all the buttoniers and the alter flowers. So, we pretty much have lucke dout so far. I have three more vendors to decide on...transportation, photographer, and videgrapher...
So far things are just falling out of place. My gown should be in, in February. I actually have had some doubts about the dress and if it was the one. I posted in another thread about it but in the end I just ended up deciding on the first dress because it would have been such a hassle. I still like the first gown but I don't love it like I love the second gown. One thing I learned through this is there is never a reason to make a quick decision just because a sales person says that if you want this you need to order it now. Nine chances out of 10 this is just a sales tactic. It would have been a hug problem if I would have went with this second gown and I probably would have pushed my mom off the deep end changing my mind. So, I previously made my decision even if I was pushed into making it. Yeah, there's a partof me that reallly wants this other dress because it truely is the one for me but yet its only a dress and I have to keep telling myself this over and over and over again. I had a dream last night that the lady from the dress shop called and said the discontinued that style and I can either find anouther dress from the same designer or my deposit can be returned. I had her give my mom back her deposit and we ran to alfred angelo and I bought the second dress instead. It's pretty sad when my dreams are haunted by all of this. It's pretty dumb too, I know!!
Anyhow, when you go dress shopping go by what your gut is telling you. Mine was telling me no not yet I still want to look around a little bit more but yet I had my mom and the sales lady telling me this is the one you don't need to look anymore! LOL..Well, I shoud have trusted my gut instincts on this one and just told them all to be quiet!!
Anyhoohaw,
I did find a picture of a bouquet that I love I think it will go great with the bm dresses that are burgondy and cream. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!! http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p59/shawnsgirl9107/flowers.jpg

Thanks...I'm going to throw a gold mogogram in it (maybe) to stick with the theme....We'll see I don't want to take away from the pretty posies LOL..Anyhow, I'm getting excited for Christmas! Once the New Year begins the Christmas tree is coming down and the wedding planning will go back up to full speed. I think in January I have at least two bridal expos to go to plus put together those save the date cards and get them in the mail. I hope to win some good prizes at the bridal expo! That's exciting. I know one couple last year got a free all inclusive 7 days 6 night honeymoon to the carribean, airfare included!!! Only expense they had was they're alcohol!! I want one of those to surprise my fiance with!!! LOL! I never win anything but it sure is fun trying!!!!

Well, Christmas is over and I made a point to get some things done come January...Only one big problem...I don't feel like it. As of lately planning our wedding has been so exciting and fun and yes it still is but I just don't feel like even thinking about it. I have to this month gather the gals and get the save the date cards done and put in the mail. I just don't feel like doing it. Is this normal. Maybe because all the things with Shawn's new job that has been bugging me just has kind of put a damper on everything. I think that what's causing it. I think once this show is over and done with and I find out what his schedule is going to be come January maybe I will feel a little better about things. But, the last few weeks have just been nuts with the flu and all that. Maybe I need just to get motivated here and start working on a few things on my list..I also need to meet with this photographer to see her work and gather wround the deposit but like I said I just don't feel up to it. I'll give it a few weeks and maybe after the new year and this one show that shawn has to do is over I will feel different. We'll see...That's about all for now best get back to work here!

I think it is normal I have gone through this several times in my wedding planning. Usually with me its caused by outside stress and I don't even think about the wedding b/c that will just cause me more stress. Just take a breather and you will be back into the wedding planning in no time best of luck to you.

UGHHH! What a long day at work it has been. It just seems to drag on forever!!! I hate days like this! I really just need to take a breather from work and chat for a while! Anyhow, Tonight my MOH heather and I are going to catch a dinner and a movie together. It was my FH's and her husbands idea. Acutually it may sound really sweet that the guys offered to watch the kids but in all actuality they originally planned to go out and since we had a rough week this week and then heather and jay had a rough week the guys are doing a little butt kissing right about now. It's a nice jester though so I'll take it. Anyhow we're going to catch the movie called the holiday. I'm in the mood for a great chic flick tonight! Well, I need to get a few things done before i head out..chat with ya'all later!

Okay this has been just the craziest week. I'll start witht he good news first....
My MOH went out for supper one night last week, we were going to hit up a movie but got to talking and eating that well we kind of missed it. So, we did what we always love to do! We went shopping!! Anyhow during dinner she brought up the idea of my bachlorette party and what they were thinking and she wanted to run it my be to make sure this is what I want to do. Her idea is to rent a limo, travel 4 hours to Atlantic City and spend a weekend going to the casinos, catching a show, and ofcourse just letting loose. I said well, that sounds awful expensive for all the bridesmaids but if everyone agrees let's go for it!!! I was shocked though...I wasn't expecting anything but a night out on the town maybe after the shower or something!! Anyhow, I'm really excited I hope everything will work out for it. If not it's not biggy it was the thought that counts!!
Also, on Sunday I have my first bridal show to go to in this area!! Wow!! I'm so excited for it. Watch out vendors here I come!!! LOL
Now, for the somewhat sad news. Since Christmas Eve my great-grandmother who was 97 got ill with Pneumonia and had a small hear attack. Well, she also has had Alzheimer's for atleast 8 years and has resided in a nursing home for the last 5 years. Anyhow, on Monday night I got a call around 8pm that she wasn't doing good at all and that she probably wouldn't make it through the night. Shawn stayed at home with the boys and I headed over the the nursing home. It was horrible. She couldn't hardle breath and was so filled with fluid. Although I have seen this before working in hospice and home health and also working in a nursing home previously I had seen a lot. A lot of my family was already there and later that night while we surrounded her bed she passed away later that night. It was very hard to see her suffer so, but at least now she has no pain and she is in God's care now. Anyhow, we have a private family only viewing on friday night and the funeral on Saturday. I guess I'm a little upset because too because Shawn has to go out of town for work Friday sometime and won't be back until sunday. I really wanted him here with me since even though it is a blessing she has passed the funeral and viewing just isn't easy. Ecspecially when I have two little boys to explain all this too. I need him here this weekend and he can't get out of work for this so it is a little frustrating. If it was his grandmother nothing would stop me from being there! Anyhow, I know that he really wants to be there he just can't and it's not his fault. I would still love to :icon_barbar: his boss over the head! She just gets on my nerves.
Anyways, It just seems like every year something like this happens around the holidays in our family. I'm not going to dare ask what else will happen because I don't want to know. My cousin who lost her father last year just before Christmas and I were talking last night. She said I'm really happy your getting married in September our family needs a happy reason to get together for once. She's right. I didn't make it for thanksgiving since I spent time with FH's family then Christmas was cancelled due to illnesses and grammy being in the hospital. So, we are due for a get together where we can actually celebrate.
I'm sorry if I sound so negative and depressing. I know others have it alot worse than I do and I feel bad but I just need to get some of this out!! I am thankful for my wonderful family and the love we have for one another! It just has been a rough couple of weeks. The good news is, is that things will get better soon it has too!!!

so sorry to hear about your great-grandmother. It is always the worst to lose a family member around the holidays. I do know how you feel I also lost my grandmother last year 5 days before christmas. She also had alztimers (sp). ended up with an infection and just went down hill from there. She is at peace now. I know it doesn't take the pain away, Just remember that she did live a full life. I wish you all the best. don't worry about being negative or depressed you have every right to be. But you do have a good outlook at the end of your post. About things looking up i'm sure they will.

I just wanted to thank all of you for you kind words of sympathy. The funeral was about as nice as a funeral could get and I am happy now that she is at piece and is no longer in pain. I'm actually starting to get back into wedding planning mode. The bridal show was fun except for one instance with my mom which I posted about in the wedding vents forum but other than that I had a pretty good time. We have another big show in our area on the 21 st so I plan to go there to! Well, on the 20th my girls and I are getting together and finishing the save the date cards! Finally they'll be done. Then in February we order the BM dresses and my dress will be in!! I can't wait to try my gown on again!!! I have a lot to get done in the next couple of months mostly because I just want to get all these vendors booked so I don't have much left to do come spring. As you can tell I hate procrastinating! Well I think that's about all for now!! talk to you all soon!

Well, work has been a very very slow day. My wonderful amazing fiance called me a little while ago and said honey I miss you and I love you. That was the only reason that he called just to say that. Then about ten minutes later one of the girls that works the front desk calls me and says I have something for you I'll be right back. She brings back this huge bouquet of 12 red longstem roses (my favorite)...It was from my FH ofcourse. I read the card and it said honey, it's time we get some time alone, this weekend it's just you and me. Tonight, come home and pack your bags we're going for a weekend escape. I wasn't expecting that but now I like want to go home really bad...This last hour has been killing me here at work. I called him and then thanked him a million times. He knows just what I need when I need it! He's keeping the destination a surprise. He's said it's something I've been wanting to do for a while...Well, I could think of about 5or 6 places it might be, but pretty much I'm clueless but very excited!!
I am so lucky to have him..I think he could tell the past couple of weeks I just haven't been myself. Between his boss, my grandma, him being away with work so much, and other minor family spats everything was starting to get to me and I really need a little refresher escape from reality trip!! I'm really excited now! I can't wait to find out where we are going..You know I'm going to be begging him all night to tell me and the whole drive there I'm going to be guessing! He may decide to turn around on the way out there cause I'll drive him nuts!! LOL

I did cry when I got the roses...Actually at first I was like these can't be for me...He actually hasn't ever bought me a dozen red roses before..He's gotten me flowers but not my red roses...I'm so excited to get some alone time with him and just relax it's going to be fun!!

I still have no clue what we are doing or where we are going..I bugged shawn about it all last night like a little kid right before christmas. ..Only thing he could tell me is we're going west...hmmm...well considering we live in PA that could be anything!! I'm so excited for our weekend get-away and to spend some quality time together. I'll be on monday am to tell ya'll about it!! Have a great weekend!!

Wow! What a weekend. My only hint friday was it was a place I said I always wanted to go just to see it....Well I have like a 100 of those places in my head so that didn't help much!! The entire 4 hour drive I was kept bugging him like crazy!!! He never did tell me until we got just inside the city of Pittsburg but there were more surprises ahead. We pulled into the opulent 5 star hotel and had the valet park the truck. I was totally shocked at the beuty of the hotel as we were checking in. Our room was on the 22nd floor and we got into the sweet scattered with rose petals, a dozen roses for me, champagne, and a present for me as well. Shawn and I put our things away and I opened my present to find lingerie too. Shawn had put this all together for me. Inside the box was a little note that said if you are an amazing mother and soon to be wife this is my way of saying thank you for all that you do and all that you are. You deserve this weekend more than anything and I am honored that you are soon going to be my wife! I cried my eyes out!!! The only bummer of the weekend was that Shawn had to work the RV show again this weekend and I got to go with him the entire day. It was actually kind of fun. I got to see more of what he did, talk and meet some very nice people, and got to relax and spend alone time with shawn when the day was over. It stunk that he had to work but atleast we could fit everything in together considering in the next three months he only has one weekend he doesn't have to work and he wanted to do a little something special for me. Anyhow, They had a wedding reception at the hotel. You want to talk about a ballroom? I can't even describe what it looked like but it was amazing. The wedding party was beutiful we watched them get out of the limo and I turned to shawn and said I want to get married!!! He said we are. I said I know but I want to next week! LOL Shawn said well, it's kind of hard when you dress doesn't come in till next month. I said yeah I know you are probably right. He said I know hunny, I want you to be my wife just as much as you want me to be your husband and in next to no time at all we will be married cause the time does fly!! I said I know. Anyhow, the bridal party was beutiful. THe sad thing is that it rained the ENTIRE weekend and even though it was still warm and no snow. Anyhow, I just feel rejuvinated and ready to get back to the daily grind called life. Shawn knows me so well and he knew I needed to get away for an ecsape since the past couple of weeks been so crazy. I'm so lucky!!

OMG! How sweet, he is a keeper!
Thank you! Yeah he's definatly a keeper. He just kind of knows things that I need and I don't need to ask or hint at things. Sometimes it's scary like he's reading my mind!!
Anyhow, got some big plans this weekend. Saturday I gathered my bridesmaids to help me with my save the date cards so we'll be finishing those up. I will get a picture of them and post them before I mail them out. They're nothing fancy more simple yet elegant which what I have been carrying out through everything when it comes the wedding plans. Then on Sunday I have big bridal show to go to. The one photographer I have been looking into is going to be there so I'm bringing my deposit to book her.
She does all digital (I think most of them do now) Anyhow, for $800.00 you get two photographers for four hours not set limit of how many pictures she takes. She gives you a CD with all of your pictures on it to get your prints printed at any place of your choosing and she also gives you an entire album of every picture taken from your day. That's also two photographers and all pictures are edited before saving to the cd and developing in the album. This is kind of what I was looking for. I want to just go as I please and get what I want printed instead of having packages or ordering prints from a photographer and paying over 2 grand before it is all said and done. This photographer also went to the same high school as me and always has been very talented so I have a lot of faith in her. Anyhow, I was just surprised to find out what how inexpensive she is!

That photographer deal sounds wonderful. I think I would love that idea as well. Not have to narrow it down and pay huge price right then.

So, last night I sat down with FH to make talk about wedding plans and vendors. I told him next on my to do list is to booking the photographer. I asked him if it is ok that I do this without him and just make a decision since he's away all weekend long and weeknights are not good to do these sort of things. All he did was come back with these sarcastic jokes everytime I asked him a question!:bbmad: I'm just beginning to get a little frustrated with him. He is so good at putting things off, I'm not good at it. I'm very organized and I'm a get it done, get it out of the way type of person. Anyhow, he just cuts these jokes everytime I sit down with him and even though I tell him to stop he does it everytime. He wants to be involved in the planning and he tries very hard to be. But, He can make it so difficult because he's not a "good" planner!! Anyhow, I love him dearly but I would just love to go out and book these vendors and get it over with! I keep telling him he is making it difficult for me to talk to him about thiese sort of things when he does this but eventually after dragging it outof him I eventually get some what of a straight answer...Anyhow, I'm just about exhausted talking to him about wedding planning this week! I'm dropping the subject for a while!

Me and Joe went through this for a while too. It's normal, finally I told him if he wasn't going to get serious I was taking over! LOL!
but seriously I'm sure he just senses some tension(stress from work, and others, ect.) that is why he was cracking jokes. Everything will get better. Just relax, and don't think about it for awhile.

I think he's mostly doing it because he wishes he could be doing these things with me. Sometimes he's like a little kid and acts out like this! He really does enjoy being involved but I can't help he's not home when I need him to be and neither can he. Maybe I just need to give him a time out LOL:gurn: j/k!

okay so this will be how the layout is for the reception. The sweet heart table with the rest of the bridal party will be infront of the fireplace. Then tables will be set up on the carpet along side on the burgondy carpet. Under the balcony is a ton of room where the remainder of the tables will be set up with a opening infront of the bar. I am going to have the DJ set up in the far corner at the other end of where our table is. In the fist picture you can see my mom and I standing and there is where we will have an grand archway for the entrance. On that far wall will be a long table with our cake and as well wedding pictures of our parents, grandparents, aunt's and uncle. The only thing I wish is that there was a stairway that led from the balcony to make it nice and opened up that we could make our grand entrance that way...but unfortunatly the entrance way is weird and it wouldn't work out right that way and the stairs are closed in with a door. I am putting comfty chairs then on the balcony for guests to sit and watch from above. I guess the good thing about not having an open stairwell from the balcony is that no kids can be up there and running around!! I'll have pictures of the save the dates tomorrow hope you enjoyed!

I almost forgot to add.....Shawn's grandma who was married during WW2 over in the phillipines sent me some material from her wedding dress. Her dress was sown together from parachutes and the island natives helped to put it together for her...It's quite a romantic story..So anyhow, I went and grabbed the veil and it matches perfectly. So, I have enough material to make a purse but I am also going to make an white hankerchief out of it. I am going to make to of them one for me and one for her. I am going then going to embroider his grandparents monogram and wedding date and shawn's and I's monogram and wedding date!! I called her right away and told her that I got it and it's going to match perfectly! I didn't tell her what I am going to give her she thinks I'm putting together just a purse...Anyhow, the material has been well, well preserved so it's going to be perfect. I just have to be very careful when sewing it because it is sooo old. But, I have done something like this before so I'm sure it will turn out perfect!! I'm so excited to give her this..I think I'll give it to her at the rehearsal dinner!!

Waltz! I was thinking the same thing and maybe it could be done with our song too. It's by David Grey-"This Year's Love"
Anyhow...Isn't it pretty neat how my gown and the hall coordinate..It wasn't planned it just kind of worked out that way.
Thanks by the way for all the compliments I'm loading a pic of my save the dates for you gals to see!

1) I love your boquet idea! the colors are great! Are you still thinking of that?
2) you have a sweetie of a finace! That weekend vacation sounded so sweet!
3) your banquet hall looks really neat as well!
Great job with everything so far!

Waltz! I was thinking the same thing and maybe it could be done with our song too. It's by David Grey-"This Year's Love"
I have no idea what that song sounds like, but waltzes are a 3 count dance and they are generally written in 3/4 time. The rhythm of a waltz is very unique with the accent or the biggest step is on the 1, so it is 1, 2,3 1, 2,3 1, 2,3
It is pretty much impossible to adapt 4/4 time into a waltz. You could do a foxtrot or swing depending on the tempo. The foxtrot is the more elegant of those two, but nothing is like a waltz, IMO. The rhythm of a fox trot is made of two slower steps and 2 quick steps.
You could do two dances, too. Pick a classical waltz and do that as soon as you are introduced, then be seated. And you can do your second dance, This Year's Love, after dinner with the other special dances to open the floor.

Our song is a very, very slow song. There is even pauses in it which I think is perfect opportunity for a kiss or maybe a tactful dip? Who knows...I have a freind who does cheorogaphy and I talked to her today about helping us out with our dance and she's willing to help for free!!

I think I forgot to thank all of you for all your comments! Last night my cousin called and we were talking aout soe ideas for decorations and different ways to incorporate the family theme. One of the ideas we thought of is for the name places is to have one of those artificial trees that kind of look like a bunch of twigs. I don't know much how to explain. Anyhow, she suggest haning everyone's table cards with their name and table from the tree. I think I really like that idea. Now that you gals have seen what the ballroom looks like doesn anyone have anysuggestions for centerpieces. One thing is for sure I want candles! Nothing is more romantic than candle light...Anyhow, if anyone has any suggestions, ideas, pictures please feel free to post!! I need all the help I can get!!
I was looking at my checklist and all that needs done the 7th and 6 month! I almost cried. #1 September is going to be here before I know it...I kind of got a little case of butterflies thinking about it....#2 I am really doing good with keeping everything in check and getting things done so far..#3 even though I'm staying on track There's still so much to do!! LOL!! Anyhow..I just can't believe how much there is to do and how fast things seem to fly by!! Well, I better get back to work! Talk to ya'll soon!

Well, I'm not finding much out on the dog wood branches so it looks like I'm just going to have to wait and find out if I can get them through my florist. It's a sage bet though that they for sure bloom in the spring and even though they are not actually considered flowers I need to know how long they are in bloom for considering our wedding isn't until September. Either way I now of some inspiration and I may find something similar!!

01-24-2007, 12:51 PM
Well, today started off interesting..I was running a couple minutes behind with the kids this morning....Well, on the road into town it goes very quickly from 55 MPH to 35...Well, I have to leave no later than 7 35 and no earlier either because I have to drop my son off at school no earlier than 7:40 in the am. Well, I was cruisin on my way and I hit that spot where it hits 35 and started to slow down..Well, I didn't slow down enough...A cop was right there and pulled me over. He was very nice to me and only gave me a warning (thank god) because that money to pay the ticket would have come out of my checking. I did explain to the cop though that I was slowing down...He said yeah I know just not soon enough..He clock me going 49 in a 35...Anyhow, I guess it kind of stinks because I have to be at work by 8 and have only 20 minutes to drop one child off at school and the other at daycare which is two blocks from my work..But that also means finding a parking space and then walking in the door. OH well, my boss got a huge laugh out of it and accused me of flirting with a town cop saying the cop that pulled me over never gives warnings!! LOL I didn't flirt by the way..I was too worried about getting to work on time! Anyhow, I thought I would share my little story nonetheless!!

Yes, It's good I didn't get a ticket...That would have came out of the wedding funds!! Not a good thing..Anyhow, he was a very nice police officer. My three year old said while we were walking out the door..Don't speed mommy so that nice police officer doesn't pull you over! LOL Too cute:ginger:
Well, I am eagerly awaiting to have my gown come in...Only a few weeks!! YEAH!! Also, I tried getting swatches of the BM gowns from ALexia where we are ordering them from in a couple of weeks since my the owner of the bridal shop that I got my gown from doesn't have the time to order them for me. Anyhow, I went on their website..You can't order swatches from them you have to go to the retailor. I even called the customer service # and well I told them my sob story and well that didn't work either they told me the same thing..It stinks..I need to know if I want burgondy or wine dresses but heck I can't order them without first seeing a swatch to decide which color I like best and #2 how am I to get the flowers to coordinate, and I also need the swatch of the cream as well so I can match flowers in with the sash..UGHHH!! I guess my next option is to go to a different retailor and ask if I can just see the swatches and if they have the dress in stock maybe I can order the BM dresses from them instead! Anyhow, at first I like this woman at the bridal shop..She really listened to me when I was picking out gowns..She know what to pick and what not to pick unlike other places I went to and she really seemed to care. I guess it's all about the sale though. I guess after dealing with davids bridal and the not so wonderful experience I dealt with there I can say it wouldn't take much to better that than huh?
Anyhow, Until I get these swatches I can't do much else..I have my photographer booked so that's taken care of. The only vendor I need is for trnasportation and a videographer which shawn and I are currently talking to some of them for prices and comparing trying to get some discounts. So anyways, I was on a roll there for awhile now it's kind of come to a standstill again..I guess maybe this weekend I'll go and look at some invitations or something and get ahead on something else and come back to these things at a later time..One thing is for sure I can't wait to get my hands on my dress!!!!

I have a lot to do this weekend!!! Today I have to get the house ready for Dylan's 6th birthday party!! YEAH!! I can't wait it will be fun..My 6 yr old is interested in the Civil War..We took a weekend get away last summer to Gettysburg. Dylan go to meet some reinactors and ever since then that has been his biggest interest. He loves learning about it so I support in 100% with it...It's better than wanting to only ever play video games and sit and watch tv and he uses his imagination a lot playing with his toy soldiers!
Anyhow, tonight we're taking the kids over to our best man and MOH's house to have a little get together. Heather, Jason, Alisha, Cole, Shawn and I and all our kids. We haven't gotten together all of us since we went to the Nascar Race back in September so we're over due!! It's pretty cool that all of us are very close friends and that they'll all be in the wedding too!! Yay!! I actually met them through Shawn and Heather and Alisha are two of the closest most supportive friends I have! I think those two are as excited as I am about the wedding!!
Also, I got my weight loss buddy yesterday here on one wed!! I'm so excited to actually have a buddy to help keep me motivated and I can help her too! It's going to be so much fun...I LOVE one wed by the way!! This place is the best and everyone here is so honest and nice!! Well I have to get going soon..I have to start getting the house ready here for tomorrow and I have to call my bridal shop today about swatches AGAIN!! This is the last time though if they can't get them for me then I am getting my BM dresses elsewhere!!

Anyhow, I can't wait till my maggie dress comes in here in february and share pics of that one!
Great news! Who knows when it comes to some men I guess we women will never know what they think at times.

No toomuch wedding related going on....well, except for this weekend on Super bowl sunday there is another wedding expo!! There has been one EVERY weekend in January so far around here! Actually, I only went to two so far but I'm kind of sick of going to them! I get sick of talking to vendors and well I never win anything....I never in a million years thought I would get sick of going to bridal expos!! LMAO
Anyhow, today we got our DSL hooked up!! NO more dial up!! YEAH..Most of you all probably had this but heck man I'm excited....
Dylan's party went over great..He wanted a Civil War themed birthday party and well that's what we did! It was fun and the kids had a blast..Dylan was impressed I think that we pulled it off! Anyhoohaw, I still have pics of the STD's and some pics from Dylan's party that I need to upload here to the computer...I'm so preoccupied right now with this DSL I may not get to it tonight! LOL!!
hahah you know what I did? I took my MOH and went through all the vendors and when they approach me I say talk to her and just grabbed some snacks and a few brochures :) and she talked to all of em I didnt hahah :p

I like the alfred dress. I think it looks good on you, but if you say the maggie is better then thats awesome. Can't wait to see pics.

I liked a lot about the alfred dress, however it was extremly hard to walk in becuase it's so big. I don't know if it is how the dress is made or the under skirt but I had a huge butt sticking out the back..Normally my butt is very flat but my goodness, in that dress you wouldn't have thought that...I think a lot of it may have been the under skirt.
The maggie dress has very clean lines to it and is A line which is even more flattering. As well, With my hair color and complexion the maggie dress just does something...What I can say is after I tried on the maggie dress, I went and asked the bridal shop to let me see it in the book. When I saw the picture of it on the model I was like..Eww. I would have never thought I would even like this dress. It looks so different than in the picture..
When I saw the alfred angelo dress online I fell in love with it. I went and tried it on and I was like ohhh. Yes, it was pretty but it just wasn't what I thought it would have been. I just wasn't that impressed I guess. Anyhow, its just kind of ironic I think!
Thank you all for your comments. I just cannot wait for my dress to come in...Lieterally, I'm suffering from withdraw from not being able to see my dress on me!! Okay so it's not that bad but pretty close!
I think we need to make up a different abbreviation for Save the date's. It's like hey congrats on the STD's, Hey guess what I got my first STD done, Oh wow your STD's are so pretty.. Really? Must I go on?
Anyhow, I think we all should think about it and find a new abbreviation for save the dates!

Well, one of the biggest reasons I did stick with the Maggie dress is because I had already put a deposit down.... I was having doubts about everything I decided on..I realized in the end and with the help from the lovely ladies here that I will look beautiful no matter what! I can't wait to show everyone a picture of me in the maggie dress..The picture I have posted does not do the gown any justice at all...you'll see! I can't wait to post in the thread titled you verses the model..For once in my life I will look better than the model picture!!

Niether of the boy's are shawn's biologically that is; but he raises them as his own. The boys and him are extremly close and they really look up to him too. That's good because they really don't have a good role model for a father. He's okay but he is very selfish and does not put them first that's for sure!
Anyways, again thank you all so much!!

Well, Shawn has banned me from going to any wedding or craft store unless he goes along!!! :gurn:
Anyhow, My MOH and I went to Ben Franklin yesterday..I was originally going to do this Saturday but I was being lazy because I am trying to get rid of this horrible cold. Anyhow I went to go get envelopes for my STD's! Well, I came across wedding bells for the reception tables so the guests don't need to clang silver ware against wine glasses. Then I came across these heart shaped wreaths that have red and burgondy flowers in them! Well, I bought 10 of them to use as pew decorations at the church..I don't need to decorate our church much but I wanted something simple but elegant for the pews and the store only had 10 left and that was exactly what I needed. I'll take a pic of one of them tonight and post them here. I think and am going to add a gold and cream colored bow to them because I think they'll need a little something. Anyhow, I also got my envelopes and a few scrapbooking things....
I came home and showed Shawn all of my purchases and he said I'm not going to even ask how much you spent except that for now on you are banned from going unless you take me along..Of course he was smiling when he said that! But anyhow...I'm banned!! LOL Sure, we'll just see how long that one lasts!! LOL

I'm not sure that will happen...Unfortunatly or well some may see it as a good thing but he actually like to shop even for wedding things....
He's actually worse to shop with than a woman!! I like to go, get what I want and get out..I just happened to pass those wreaths on my way out, so it was by chance that I even go them...They just caught my eye..When I shop I usually don't browse too long unless I'm looking for something in particular I just kind of zoom through and if something "cathces my eye" I'll check it out...I'm not one that likes to shop even for wedding stuff. I'd rather buy online sitting in my nice warm house!!

That's cute!
When we saw our wedding venue last summer (around June 16th) it was a perfectly warm and sunny day we both had that moment: "we're going to say our vows here in less than a year!"

Shawn will have his moment too I'm sure! :)
We're in for a lot of "I'm getting married!" moments in the next few months I think.

Well, today I noticed our venue changed the wedding packages as far as cost and food around...It's a lot nicer than what it was but instead of 27 /person it's 30.95/person. I emailed the director of sales and she said since those packages weren't in effect at the time of signing our contract we could go with either choose from the old list of packages or the new list..Even though it's a little bit more expensive I do like the fact that no matter what two dishes you choose you pay the same rate per person. Everything that was included in the older packages is still included in the newer ones..Say we wanted to have broiled haddock and stuffed chicken. Well the fish was 29 per person and the chicken $21 /person. So, say everyone but a few get the chicken then yeah it's pretty cheap but if everyone gets the fish and not the chicken it could be more costly than what we originally expected. I just kind of like knowing there is just one flat rate..Plus, with the new packages there is a ton more options as far as food goes which is a bit more appealing. I will have to talk to shawn about it and see what he has to do..
I also emailed the restaurant manager Jenn at the Genetti to inquire about using the restaurant there for our rehearsal dinner and about how much does that cost..I was thinking of doing a themed rehearsal dinner separate from the wedding...Is that tacky?? Like an Italian theme, or Bar b que theme...

02-19-2007, 09:38 AM
Well, no news of my dress coming in soon, but if it were in I would have given the bridal shop a huge piece of my mind....
Here's why...
Saturday, Me and five of my BM's had an appointment for them to be measured and order their BM dresses. Previous to this I have been calling and asking the store owner the for a swatch of Burgondy since she doesn't have it in the store. As of last week she said she had it finally. I thought great now I can make a decision wether to get the dresses in wine or burgondy. Well, I get up there and guess what she didn't have a swatch for me to look at!! I was so angry..I kept my cool and I said Terri I called last week and you said you had the swatch in hand for me, I have been calling you for three months and you told me that when I came in today you would have to swatch ready for me. She said hold on one minute. I look at my mom and roll my eyes and my mom says calm down, don't get upset...So, that helped me keep my composure. She comes back with a gown in wine by a different designer and says this is what their burgondy looks like. I said whatever, this just isn't helping me I said I need a minute to think about this. She said okay. So I step to the side and talk to my bridesmaids and ask them about the wine which is more like a lighter shade of claret and we figure we'll just take the risk of ordering them in burgondy hoping this will work for us. I then step up to the desk and say okay Terri I need to talk to you...
I said now, I have asked for three months to get a swatch just so I can make a decision. I have nothing really to base my decision. After the poorest of customer service you have given me, the lies, and your unwanted opions I am being nice by ordering these bm dresses off of you. In all honesty I should go elsewhere. I also said, you are waisting me time and because you don't have the swatch for me you are also costing me money. I said you know my FH needs to order his tux by the end of this month. I put a deposit down for him and if he goes in before February 28th he gets his tux rental free and the groomsman get 50% off. Unfortonatly, because you can't seem to be honest with me and just tell me anything to try to keep me happy you will be costing me the free tux and all the groomsman a discount on their tuxes plus the $20.00 deposit I put down on the tuxes. I am literally disgusted with this all. I don't need what you have put me through here.
I am going to order the bridesmaid dresses today. The only reason I am ordering them from you is because I refuse to make everyoone go elsewhere and get measured today. That's not fair to the girls. So, we are going to order them in burgondy and you better hope the dress you just showed me is an exact color match to Alexia's burgondy dresses. I said I want it in writing right here and now that you have shown me this dress from another designer and if it the BM dresses do not match the color you shown me the BM's will get a refund in full. She signed a statement that stated the above as well as my signature and we ordered the BM dresses.
I'm still upset about the whole thing and that woman gave me a headache. I kept my composure but I did give her a piece of my mind. She has more than ruined the fun for me and the BM's. God, I hope my gown comes in soon. Once it does I'm taking it out of that store and taking it elsewhere to be altered at a later time becase I do not trust this bridal shop at all!!! It's been one headache after another!!! Okay, I'm done venting and sorry for the novel here!
nikloveskev
02-19-2007, 09:45 AM
That is so crappy. So what (out of curiosity) are you going to do if they come in and look like a different color than what she showed you? I don't understand why people are so stupid. Sorry you gotta deal with this.

02-19-2007, 10:11 AM
To answer your question, if the BM dresses don't match the dress from the other designer and the color doesn't suit she is refunding all the BM's and we're going some place else. There's like two other stores just nearby that carry the same BM dresses!!

Well, as much as I don't want to do this, I am going to have to leave one wed. Certain incidents have happened in the last week or so that have made me decide to leave this forum. For those TWO people you know who you are. It's sad because I have welcomed an open discussion about problems or any misunderstanding that may have occured. It was discussed and I thought or assumed the "air was clear". Unfortunately I found out otherwise tonight. I don't appreciate being chatted about behind my back saying I am acting like a b#$!h when I wasn't. I myself did nothing wrong. I was not mean or rude to anyone. If it was taken that way then it's those two person's problem. There is plenty of people here who know and think otherwise and feel that I of all people did not deserve to be moderators. Personally, I feel these two people felt the need to cause some problems and drama and I don't need that in my life.
I joined one wed looking for advice and the ability to give others advice. It was fun while it lasted but unfortunately some people have to start trouble.
To first off my weight loss buddy, I am sorry that I have to do this. Please email me and we can talk further. I will continue off of one wed to be your "buddy" and work with you toward our goals.
To my true friends here I want to tell you how much I am going to miss you and I am sorry. I was really looking forward to sharing my wedding day story and showing you the pics of the day here soon. Unfortunately, in my best interest I am going to have to do without this. I truely appreciate your opinions, advice, and comments as well as dishing out my advice too.
Many of you have no clue what has caused this and frankly I think you should but I am the better person here and I am going to just walk away. Just as a warning there are people out there who don't seem who they truely are and its unfortunate these people have certain privaleges that they truely don't deserve.
Best wishes and to all of you that are my friends I will miss you!

Well, after many PM's there seems to be some resolve in the situation. After some great advice from some wonderful ladies, I shouldn't let two people ruin my fun. By leaving it wouldn't have solved anything and I would have been missed as much as I would have missed chatting on here. If those two decide to apologize then that's up to them and that is in there hands. Until then I'm just ignoring them and moving on!! Thanks gals you are all the best!

I have been so busy the last couple of weeks oh my...
Well, we got a lot done these last couple of weeks!! We got the tuxes picked out and they are now all being booked and ordered by tomorrow. The bridesmaid dresses are all ordered and paid for. My dress should be in any day now. It was supposed to be in in Febuary and well we're getting into March here in the next couple of days. If it doesn't come in in two weeks I'm calling the Bridal Shop space cadet and am having her check into it. Oh yes, My MOH and I named her the space cadet since she is so spacey when you have a conversation with her..LOL...That is her new nickname. She is the only person that has given me any stress or frustration throughout this who process. She tells me one thing and then to find out that's not the truth. Anyhow for now on I'm refering to her as the space cadet LMAO!
Also, STD's have been in the mail and taken care of. Shawn and I have booked all the vendors now except a videographer which we plan to do here in the next couple of weeks. I got a ton of meetings set up, so we should be good to go. The limo is booked for 8 hours on our wedding day! We got a limo coach which seats up to 18 people to get everyone where we need to be. It's like a dance club inside it's pretty cool looking. Next on my list is trying to get the rehearsal dinner booked. I was in contact a couple of weeks ago and I had emailed her some more specifics and I am yet to hear back. I think I am going to email them again. Other than that I think we're in good shape for the wedding! Our engagement photos are being done by our photographer for like $30.00 and we will be getting them done in march too. It's just amazing how finally things have become to slowly come together!! Yippy!!!
I bet it's a relief to suddenly have so much done! Sounds like things are really coming together.

Thanks ladies...I hope you all like my dress. I'm a little worred. At the time I was measured for it I weighed about 156 punds...Although I carried it well! I ordered my dress in a size 14. Well, I weighed myself last night and I am at 137 pounds!! WOO HOO...But, I'm afraid my dress is going to need some major alterations when I get it back. I would assume they could take it down two dress sizes so I shouldn't be too worried. The other good thing is that it does have a corset back so that should help too! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed though!!

nyhow, I thought I would share what wedding day checklists I have done so far: I'm not going into detail but I finished them last night of the things I need to do and pay. I thought I would share it because it helps to keep me organized.
My first checklist is my vendor costs checklist. I have listed each vender, their contact information, prices, deposits paid, along with the final amount due and the due date. It has helped me to make sure all my final bills are paid before they are due. It has also helped me to stay under budget as well.
My second checklist is like many you have seen which is the countdown task list which just list things I need to do and when.
My third checklist is the items I need to buy and my budget for each item such as out unity candle, garters, FG Baskets, flower petals, etc. etc. I have each line itmeized a final budget for all items and an estimate cost of each item. After I make a purchase I highlight it and put down how much I paid so I control what money goes out on these sort of items.
My fourth checklist is for the actual wedding day things that Shawn will need with him and things I will need to bring with me that day to the church. I have just started this, but this checklist won't leave my side!
My final one isn't really a checklist, it's an intinerary of our wedding day. I am doing this for our officiant, bridal party, and all of our vendors. The vendor one and the bridal party one are a little different. THe bridal party one will list what time they need to be at the salon that day and everything else throughout so there is not problems with someone being late. I am also including phone numbers for me and FH so that if someone nbeds to be contacted in the even of an emergency then they know who to contact, we're giving that to the vendors for sure.
Anyhow, I thought I would share what I am doing in the even any of you needed some ideas and/or help being organized. FH thinks I'm being a little anal about things but its more so to help to keep everyone on the same page that's all!! Mostly, it's to keep me organized though!!

Well gals...Shawn and I are going away again this weekend. Has a show in Atlantic City, NJ. He'll be training two members to take over doing them for now on so he really won't be working the show very much. So, we're going out for a nice dinner, gonna hit up the casinos (only the slot machines), and have a nice hotel with a jaccuzzi tub too! I've never seen the beach in winter either so I am excited about that too. I can't wait to leave tonight we'll have some alone time for once!! Yippy!! Also, we'll have the laptob so if by chance I get a tad bored I'll jump in on here and say hi!! Also, I'm taking my camera so when I get home I'll upload some pictures of the beach...Maybe if I'm brave I'll put my feet in the water to show you how cold it is just for fun!! Have a great weekend everyone!!
Looks like you'll probably be having a better weekend than any of us! I love those jacuzzi rooms, by the way. Have fun!

We had an awesome weekend together I must first say. I got to see the NJ beach in the winter which was pretty cool to see. They had it all closed off so we couldn't go walk along the beach so I couldn't freeze my toes in the water and get a pic of it too!
I got down there about 9 or so Friday night. FH met me at a gas station for me to follow him to the hotel. We got to the hotel and it had a heart shaped jacuzzi in it. He had champagne on ice with champagne glasses along the jacuzzi and rose petals scattered on the bed and a trail to the jacuzzi! It was such a wonderul night. We killed the champagne in a matter of 45 minutes I think LOL. Saturday we had to train the two members from his work to work the show for a couple of hours then we were set free to hit the casinos and shop the outlets. We just went to one of the casinos and won $80 then we decided to leave and do some shopping. He took me to the dress barn and I got two cute dress one of them I got for like 40% off I think. Then we went out for dinner at a elegant seafood resaurant and I got my snow crab legs. I was going to get my usual lobster tail but since I hadn't had any good crab legs in a long time I decided to go with that. Sunday then Shawn's parents came in to visit. We all went out for breakfast in the am and while shawn showed the members how to take down the show booth Shawn's parents and I went to the casino's for a little bit and had spent some time together. Afterwards, I went to the show for a little bit then hit the road to go home and pick up the kids. FH finally got home about 8 last night and the poor guy was just exhausted. Anyhow, I was pretty tired too but it was a great weekend and thankfully the last show he'll have to do for a long time now that the members are doing them so he can just do his regular job..Yeah, we have our weekends back!!

Am I forgetting anything??? We're meeting with a videographer on Saturday so far he is the only one who has gotten back to us or followed thru with anything. One guy was to mail us some information like two weeks ago..He never did. The other guy gave us a phone call back with his packages, but I think this other videographer offers us a bit more. He's bringing over a sample DVD for us to look at too plus they are throwing in a free slide show done with music during our reception since our wedding day is on a Penn State home game Saturday!
Also, a lot of the packages offer one or two video cameras...Shouldn't one be enough or should I go with the two camera package???
NicksBride
03-11-2007, 09:28 AM
hey, it looks like you have a lot done that is awesome. I am sure everything will come together great. I can't wait to see your wedding!!!!
I think one should be enough as well for the cameras, but if the price really isn't that much differnet you may want two cameras, one to capture you walking downt he aisle and one in the back of the room. It really depends on what you want them to capture. The videographers for the most part capture everything. At my friends wedding they were almost RUNNING to get everything and it was beatiful. I think I cried more at her video then at the actual wedding hahaha. It really captured her day. Good luck.
SaralovesMike
03-11-2007, 02:27 PM
You are so organized!!!
(yes I'm saying it again lol)
2 cameras might be a good idea, I mean the 2nd camera could get something that the 1st camera missed. You know the "oh so important shot" of the look on FH's face the moment he sees you come down the aisle. If it doesn't cost much I say why not?
shawnsgirl
03-12-2007, 09:50 AM
Okay, well Saturday we met with the videographer and my search for one is now over!! I really like their work that is for sure.
Well, with the packages they have the give you two cameras in every package but the smallest package only gives you one videographer. Anyhow, we're going with the two videographer package since it was more of a value in their second package. It makes their job easier to capture your day when you have two videographers instead of just one. Plus, as a bride and groom you miss soooo much because of how hectic your wedding is, that it's nice to be able to have someone else capture what you miss. Well, in most cases it does. Anyhow, since our wedding is on a penn state home game Saturday we get a free growing up montage to be played at the beginning of our reception. That will be fun to get organized and put together too!
So with the videographer booked that was my last vendor. Now, our task for this month is to help find my mom a MOB dress, register for gifts, and well the rest of what is above there in a previous post.
We started our registy last night at bed, bath, and beyond! I'm so excited! It was fun too..I could sit right on my couch watching the race and pick out gifts at the same time..Now that's the life!! LOL!!

Yeah, we just did it online for bed bath and beyond...We don't have any nearby but for Shawn's family there plenty over there in Jersey...I figured between MAcy's and BB&B alone should be good enough!
Actually, so far I think we did pretty good. We registered for some fine china along with some everyday china as they call it so I am happy. My pots and pans that shawn and I have are all hand me downs that we have had for years and years, are plates and glasses are the same way so I will be so greatful to have some "new things" in our home! All my bake ware, toaster, and caserol dishes are so old and worn its pathetic so we are in need of an upgrade!! Plus, I need to register for a china cabinet...Does anyone know a good place I could register at that have these???
ladymelissa
03-12-2007, 11:53 AM
Actually, I think the only places to get nicer china cabinets are furniture stores. They probably do registries, but that would add another store and quite a large purchase. Maybe mention that you need one to your parents, they may be able to give you some advice or even organize it's purchase. You could also just plan on putting any monetary gifts toward the cabinet.
Congrats on finding a videographer.

03-12-2007, 12:08 PM
That's a great idea Melissa!! I will talk to my mom and see what she suggest! After reading your post one thought did come to mind...A member of our church makes jelly cabnets, chests, corner cabnets, hutches, etc. He's retired and now pretty much so does it as a hobby and only charges for the wood and supplies needed to make the project. He does some amazing work. I have a jelly cupboard that he made a couple years back that has definately stood the times with having two small children. I bet if I talked to him he could build me one and at a reasonable price as well. I would cherish it even more knowing it was made by hand!

03-19-2007, 12:45 PM
Well, I figure I will give an update....
Well, my wedding dress still isn't it...I'm not worried yet but ya know I'm just anxious I guess.
As far as the wedding planning....All of the vendors are booked so now we are figuring out centerpieces and favors. I thought about doing chocolate covered spoons. We would get nice spoons all engraved with our wedding date and monogram and cover them in choclate. Its definatly do able just not 100% sure on it yet.
We have also started doing our registry which is going good too. At this point there really isn't much left to do until closer to the big day!!

03-19-2007, 01:52 PM
Wow Jonelle, it sounds like you have so much going on that is wonderful!
I LOVE your chocolate covered spoon idea, I think it is something that they can use forever and it something that is really practical, I really like it.
I can imagine you are really anxious about your dress, I am sure it will be here on time!! My fingers are crossed for you!!!!

03-19-2007, 02:29 PM
Thank you!! Yeah hopefully it will be in any day! I'm trying to be patient but but I'm afraid the space cadet bridal shop owner screwed up again! So far she hasn't come thru on anything that she has promised so I'm just getting a tad worried about my dress. I'm sure it's fine and she just told me it was going to come in, in February and was just out in never never land when she told me that. But, who knows with her!
It's funny about the chocolate spoon idea. We went to the mall on Saturday and stopped in at a coffee shop that had plastic choclate covered spoons. I looked at them and showed them to shawn. He really like the idea of them too. It's weird how you can look through web sites after web sites for ideas and you run into something that just kind of gives you inspiration.
While I have a lot done so far I still have so much to do!! I have to get gifts for all the bridesmaids, we have to go thru pre marital classes, figure out and lay out the ceremony so I can do programs, do up our invitations, RSVPs, table seating, ceremony and reception time lines, make up an intinerary for the day so the BP is all informed of what is all going on, finish getting things for the pew decorations, we're getting our engagement pictures next month, and meet with all of the vendors closer to the wedding date, and as soon as my dress comes in and the bm dresses we need to take swatches to the florist and pick out all of our flowers for the bouquets. I also need to buy the flower girl baskets and the ring brearer's rose ring carriers yet too! Wow this list is getting longer as I am typing!! This is just that's all in my head right now, not what I have on paper!!!

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh, I am sooo very excited for you. I can't wait to see what it looks like! Hurry up Saturday!:pompom:
I must say I am more excited for you! You only have a litte over two weeks until your wedding!!!
I also forgot to post too that thanks to wonderful ebay, I got Shawn a different wedding band. We got like four of them for 50 cents each on bids.com they were all okay but we found one on EBAY that he just loved. Its a tungsten carbide ring. We got it on Friday in the mail. He tried it on and it fit perfectly and I started to cry when I saw his wedding band on his finger! I cry over the silliest wedding things lately. I'm afraid I am going to be a mess on our wedding day! If I am this emotional now I cant imagine how I will be on September 1st!
Another thing is, is after everything I have been put through I never thought of getting married again. Until Shawn came into my life I was perfectly happy being a single mom and raising my two boys on my own. Marriage was the last thing on my mind and I didn't want a relationship. Well, he changed all that and now we plan to be together thru everything!!

I'm not sure now. The gals dresses are going to be burgondy and cream and at first I fell in love with this bouquet but now I'm not so sure. With seeing a picture of it beside my dress, I'm kind of thinking it's too busy. It's so hard for me to find some sort of flower to match these burgondy dresses. I don't want all ivory roses I want color but I'm thinking I may not have a choice!!
NicksBride
03-29-2007, 12:26 PM
I think having ivory and burgundy would be enough. I guess I am just not crazy about the orange. They are both very very pretty... I guess I just cannot see them together, I think ivory and burgundy would be gorgeous, making the color really pop. But I just think the orange is to much.
JMO...
I just love that dress though!

I'd find a new florist if I were you. A good florist would be willing to work with your budget and your theme/colors. Flowers can be "dyed" to a certain extent. Also, you can high quality fake flowers with your real flowers to get the palette you want, at a cheaper price, and people can't tell the difference. Have you checked into ordering the flowers wholesale yourself and making your own boquet? Just some options. BTW I love that boquet with the orange/gold/burgandy. I don't think it'd be too busy for your dress. MHO

It has been awhile since I have updated my journal...Sorry ladies I have been slacking a bit in this area!! Well, there's really not much wedding planning to do right now. Most of it that needs done can't be done until I have swatches or until I send out the invites. I will start working on the invites come may so I can have them done by June and mailed. From past experience with the STD's I had to do everything in steps so I'm going to do the same with the invites. Plus, soon we should be starting our premarital classes. There are some things we plan out during that time for the ceremony with our pastor. I'm getting excited for these actually. I will have to talk to her on Sunday and ask when she wants to start these and also ask her about the start time for the ceremony and what not. Our pastor has had a ton of things thrown at her lately and now that things have started to settle down hopefully this will be a good time to ask.
As of now I am trying to schedule our engagement pics with our photographer. Hopefully, we can get them done by the end of the month!! Other than that, that's about it for now!!

I don't know if you have made a decision regarding your bouquet. But my thoughts on it is that it draws more attention to your bouquet than to you. it seems a bit overpowering to me. but this is only my opinion on it. i think it would be lovely to have ivory roses and and burgendy flowers with it. i will see what i can find to show you. or maybe you could go with something a little more modern like ivory roses and burgendy feathers? or just some burgendy lace in your bouquet? just some thoughts.

That was my thoughts exactly about my bouquet! I truely think it was too busy and I should stick to one flower like roses throughout. I really didn't want to do an all ivory bouquet. Thanks for the ideas though but I agree 100% with you. The bouquet itself seems to take centerstage.
I did see in at the grocery store yellow roses with a burgondy tip. I was going to look into these as well! I'm open to many suggestions! I also thought about ivory roses with burgondy beads or accents in the bouquet. Subtle with a touch of color..

Personally, I like colors in the bride's bouquet. It really makes the flowers stand out. I am not the biggest fan of that particular bouquet, I don't know what it is, but the flowers look a bit wilted to me.
Good luck with your counseling and everything!

those roses sound lovely and adding a touch of color with beads and lace would make it beautiful i would think. i really like the sound of those roses.

Roses, calla lilies, tulips, and hyacinths are my favorite flowers. Since the later two are out due to the time of year of our wedding the roses are by far my first choice. Calla lillies are so expensive that I just don't want to go there. So I'm definately set on roses just not sure how I'm going to put it all together!!

this one is called pinstripe. i like it too. maybe if you like you could ask your florist about them and the pricing and things. if nothing else maybe only add one or two to your bouquet along with the ivory roses.

Yes, they are berries. I wouldn't neccesarily use barries but some sort of burgondy colored garland.

Thank you..#3 is my favorite so far...I emailed them to FH so we will see what he thinks...
Ok...So this month we're working on the invites and as soon as our premarital counseling starts we will be working on putting the puzzle pieces of our ceremony together...To stay ahead of the ball game I am working on our reception order of events. FH is at ends on this with me...
Keep in mind cocktails are from 630-700. We are introduced at 7pm. So, I am going to be starving by then and so will everyone else. He wants to be intorduced, have our first dance, bridal party dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, get served our dinner, toasts during dinner, cut the cake..In that such order!
He just doesn't want to compromise on this with me. I told him I would like to be introduced, have us give a toast to our guests, have dinner served, best man toast, maid/matron of honor toast, after dinner: first dance, BP dance, cake cut, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, etc. etc. etc.
My cousin did her first dance as soon as they entered. It seemed awkard. As well the reception was running late already because the limo was late to pick them up for the church. I was more than ready to get something to eat by this point in time. Anyhoohaw. Any ideas to help me try to compromise on this with him??
i actually just went to a wedding that did it like ur FH suggested. i personally didn't like it. it forced all the guests to SIT for soooo long! i mean it was still nice but it was very hard to get in the fun mood when you just sit and eat for so long. it seemed like forever until we got to get up and have fun.
in the end it's about what you and your FH want. i personally prefer breaking things up a bit and not having everything at once but it sounds like you need a compromise!

Thank you...I really wanted to do the special dances later on in the evening myself but theres so much to do in such a short time. Plus, we'll be served first so we will be finished eating first.
Yes, we definately need to compromise on this issue. He's not budging what so ever on his thought. This has been going on for a few months now and his stubborn streak is showing thru!!

What we did was have cocktail hour from 11:45-12:15, then we got announced and we went right into our first dance. Then we had dinner, then we had toasts, formal dances and then cake. It went really well because we wanted to get the dance of the way so that way people can mingle without having to run back to their seats for our dance. Plus we were ready to party anyway and wantd to get the formals out of the way. We were SOO hungry for lunch that if we would have done everything before we ate, I would have passed out.
But, usually everything is done before dinner. But it would eb nice to break it up a bit for you guys to relax as well.

I guess it wouldn't be too bad having our first dance done directly after we are introduced then having the bridal party dance. We could sit down have the blessing, do our toasts while we are being served the meal and while the other guests are waiting to be served, eat our supper, then cut the cake. While the cake is being cut in the back we can do the father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance. Shawn and I can walk around and visit just before the party starts to get hoppin...
Maybe I will just have give up on this one with FH. He wants to do all these dances back to back and that I'm not going to have happen. However, we can get a few of them out of the way right off the bat! I really don't want to have our first dance right after we are introduced but honestly I have gone back and forth with Shawn over it for three months now and I just don't care anymore. I just want to make a decision and move on!

Well good luck with your decision. I am sure it wil all work out no matter what you choose. If you do decide to do your dances all at once, make sure your bridal party has some snacks before that happens. I was soo woozy after the ceremony that if I didn't eat anything I would have been not feeling to good. :)

After the ceremony we're doing pictures. The limo is going to take us up to the Genetti. We will go up to the bridal sweet for snacks and drinks and have a chance to freshen up! I'm also going to have some pretzels and chips in the limo for us since we have like a 20 minute drive ahead of us.
Anyhow, we definately won't have all the dances back to back. I'm putting my foot down on that one. If we do anything right aways it will just be the first dance and then the BP dance but that will be it!

We reached a compromise last night!! LOL!!!
We decided on the reception order last night. I'm actually liking it now. I'm not 100% thrilled on having our first dance together but some of the BP members will want to go for a smoke after supper, some have children, so it will probably be best to have it done first. Anyhow so here it goes...
Introductions
First Dance
Bridal Party Dance
Bride/Groom welcome and toast
Blessing
Dinner begins to be served (salads)
During the serving of dinner all the toasts will be given
After Dinner:
Cake Cutting
Father/Daughter Dance
Mother Son Dance
Oh no...I just forgot about something totally. Our videographer is doing a photo montage for us during the reception. It will probably last anywhere from 8-10 minutes.... Uh oh...Guess it's back to the drawing board. I'm going to have to throw that in there somewhere...Now you know why I'm doing this stuff so early!! LOL!
