Hello all. I know I am not a bride but I kind of feel like one most of the time. I am getting married on 06.23.07 My future wife is a full time student in her last year of college so I get to take over the bulk of the planning... YAY! We have been engaged for about a month now and I am already pulling my hair out. Any planning advice would be awesome. I just don't want us loose our cool and forget why we are doing what we are doing. Thanks.

-David

Welcome to the board David! Kudos to you for taking such an active roll in the planning :)

This will quickly become your one stop shop for ideas, inspiration photos and friendly advice.

Can you give us a little direction? What have you got so far? Do you have colours? A theme? A venue? A budget? Some ideas of what you want it to look like?

Hi David, Welcome.
I can totally relate to you're situation. I was in my last year of college and planning a wedding at the same time. It's awsome of you to take on a majority of the planning!
My advice to you, Make a list of everything you and your FW want. Then find a timeline (most bridal magazines have them) It will help give you an indication when you need to do what. Stick to it or do things prior to the month they suggest.
Also, If you can find a reception venue that will do the catering and decorations that would take alot of stress off you! Our locations did everything, including the DJ. It was awsome, they just told us when we needed to come in and meet with them.
My last bit of advice is.... Take time to be with your FW. Time that is free of wedding planning, school work, house work, time to get away and remember why you are planning this wedding!
Best Wishes! Keep us posted on how things are going!

Hello and welcome! Congrats on your engagement!

First, you will want to find and book the big things like venues, catering, the photographer and DJ. Then have your future wife (FW) start dress shopping as some dresses can take 6 months to come in from the time you order it. Then you can move on to the other things like decorations, flowers and invites. Best wishes and we are here to help!

Welcome David! I know totally what you are going through! My fiance is working full time getting his Masters Degree finished as well as working as a Graduate Assistant, and I am in my last year of college as a Senior and I also work 20 hours a week! Our wedding is only about three weeks after I graduate, so it is going to be one crazy ride! Life is becoming crazy with the wedding and everything else that is going on!

The girls here are wonderful and SO helpful!! Take all advantage of them as you can! Good luck and let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
