When i first got engaged last fall i thought pink and blue would be perfect for our June wedding. But now i've kinda changed my mind. It's not really us i don't think. Blue is my favourite colour so i'd like to keep that. But i don't know what i should pair it with.
I love the look of the Winter weddings, the snow flake theme With Blues, Silvers, and Whites. But i don't know if that would be appropriate in early June.
I want a more stream-lined look to everything. I don't know what would be best for favours, centre peices, flowers, bridesmaid dress colour, etc.... my fiance and i LOVE tulips. So we're thinking that's the flower we're going to have. But we need some more ideas.
Have you ever seen a wedding done with such cool wintery colours in the late spring early summer? Is that too gloomy, cold, or inappropriate?

Minty greens are a good combo for light blue.. Pink and blue makes me think of a baby shower.. But I'm having a baby so everything makes me think of baby somethings.
Also, as long as you don't have snowflakes and winter-y stuff, no one will think anything of it. The type of flowers that you use will also dictate the feeling. Dasies don't make me think of christmas.. THey make me think of spring!
Honestly, your wedding should be a reflection of you. Do what you feel is nataral! My favorite color is light purple, so we're having a light purple and ivory wedding. I was toying with all these ideas, but then it came around to it, and that's the most nataral fit.

I agree with carlo's honey on this one. I think the icy blues and silvers would be very pretty for a summer wedding. It doesn't make me think gloom and winter. As long as you aren't decorating with snowmen and ice it should be just fine. I think doing soft blues and incorporating white tulips would be gorgeous. I love tulips too.

Oh yeah I love white tulips! I think those colors will look beautiful together. Have you got any pictures of your ideas yet? I would love to see them.

I don't have any pictures of things i want yet. It's pretty much all in my head. I've seen some pictures of some really pretty blue cakes with white snowflakes. Which is kinda where i got the colour idea from.
I think we're going to have either a blue cake with a small band of silver ribbon arround each layer, then a larger white band of ribbon behind it. Or white cake with blue and silver ribbon.
We've already bought 24 clease glass vases for the centre peices. (good old ikea :D) my FH wants to have beta fish in them, and i was thinking more tulips or peonies (but i don't know if they come in white) Then again with another ribbon arround the vase. And we're going to get small silver frames for put the place cards in, and will act as part of the gift for our guests. My mom is totally set on giving them candies or chocolates as well. I just haven't figured out how to do that.
Now the ideas are coming together, and i'm happy with the colours.
Tulips are our favourite flower. We'll have t figure out where we can get them for a good price since they may be out of season by then if the spring is really warm. I thought i would do white for the bridal party, and white, light pink, and a darker pink for myself and Mark.
Thanks for letting my bounce my ideas off you! It's put me more at ease!

Peonies and tulips both come in white. If you want to do chocolates you could make your own or just buy miniatures and print up some wrappers on your computer with a message on them. I even saw some circle stickers to put on the bottom of hershey kisses with your names and date on it. I really liked that idea.
Sounds like you have some great ideas and anytime you want to bounce them off us....bounce away. I love it!!

Keep in mind that if you do a blue bouquet for you, it can be your 'something blue', and it would really look pretty. Now. I just had a FAB idea!!!!
Take the vases that you have, fill the bottom with pearls (plastic works great), or even pearls ov varying sizes. Put a blue betta in, and then put the flowers in the top. Either bind them with a ribbon (blue or silver) and then put them on top so that there is no gaps, but the flowers are in the water, or put three or four long stemmed flowers into each vase so that the fish can swim through.
Keep in mind that certain flowers are not good for bettas, and that bettas are natarally fighters. I don't know if that's the representation you want at your wedding. You could just as easily do pairs of white goldfish with blue marbles at the bottom, giving you the same look, but a couple.
Carlo's cousin gave tulle wrapped kisses and hugs. You could do silver kisses and sheer blue netting, which are inexpensive and pretty. Peonies are one of my FAVORITE flowers, and they're not too expensive, and they're really big, so that you can get a lot for what you pay.
Here are some pictures that I found for you:

You could change the colors, I just saw the tulips and thought that you might like this.

This is a delphinium, I think that it's really pretty! It's one of my favorite blue flowers.
But, if you go with the bettas, please find good homes for them! I have 2 bettas, and they're really neat fish. I've had one for over 2 years.
Good luck, and I hope the pictures helped!

Carlo's Honey you are so sweet! Thank you for posting those pictures!
I LOOOOVE the blue cake! Thats exactly the colours i was thinking. But we just wanted a square cake . I'm so glad that peonies come in white. I've never seen them in any other colour then pink. 2 or 3 stems would be perfect for the vase's i have. And i really like the pearls idea. I think this weekend i will have to go buy a fish and some flowers and put somthing together!
Thanks so much for the ideas!

No problem! Bettas are like cactus. It's easy to keep them going if you do it right. I use Stress Coat whenever I clean their bowls, and feed them the color enhancing food that they sell at Target. It's in a blue container. Just make sure that you find people to take the fishies home, and beware of kitties!

Thanks for the tips. I've had a few betta fishes before. One unfortunetly did surcum to the cat. I was totally devisated! I was mad at my cat for a good day. I have lots of friends and family who would take the fishies. As well, i can give some to the kids in the neighborhood if need be.

The cat I had when Carlo and I met killed my first Betta. The cat and Carlo didn't get along, so it was my cat or my man. My roommates kept the cat and we got a new fish. That fish is still alive, 2 1/2 years later.
I've heard of people not taking care of the fish, just leaving them, or flushing them down the toilet. I always urge people to be nice to the fisheroos!

Your local elementary school might love a donation of beta fish. Some school teachers keep them in there class rooms for teaching aids and to help keep the kids calm.

Good idea As You Wish! I wouldn't have thought of that. The kids might even have a contest or something, about who gets the fish in their class.

That would be very cool! My neice Morgan is in Senior Kindergarden right now. They might like that. I was planning on giving her and her brother their own, and their friends who live next door some as well.
I'm thinking now that i want to lean more to the fancy white goldfish just incase i can't find good homes for everyone. That way i can have a nice cat proof aquarium with them to be safe in. My FH seems up for that idea.

The goldfish would be a lovely reminder of your wedding! The only thing is, with goldfish, they die. Easily. And they might need a certain setup to keep them alive through the ceremony and reception, and chances are, some might die during.. etc... I know that my best friend has some goldfish and they need an air tube thing. Bettas don't.
I'm sure you could contact the school and give them away that way. You could find the homes before purchasing them. That's the best approach. I'm sure that there are people coming who wouldn't mind taking a fishy home.

I know nothing about fish except I hate taking care of them, hence I don't have any.
As for peonies and tulips. Peonies do come in white. I am using them in my wedding. My pridal bouquet is pale pink peonies with white spray roses, lily of the valley, and stephanotis. As for tulips, my FSIL got married in April and had all pink and white tulips. It was gorgeous. As centerpieces she has clear vases that were lines with leaves then filled with white and pink French tulips and bear grass. I'll see if I have a picture to email you. For bouquets she and the girls carried hand ties tulips.
As for your concern with snowflakes in your decorating, remember, a snowflake is easily removed and replaces with a small start or pointy petal flowers for the same effect.

True. If you can't get the snowflake off, just put a flower over it!!
