Okay, I have a few minutes now and I'm just going to explode in this thread!

So Jon and I went with ThePros for video, photo, and DJ. We went to an actual meet and greet session over a year ago and hand chose our videographer, photographer, and DJ (They all had thier work for us to see). All communication is done through e-mail, which I like because there's no chance of it getting lost in the mail, etc.

Considering we are 2 and a half weeks away from the wedding, my consultant contacts me via email requesting payment and a signed final contract.

I look at my contract and notice a few things different from the original one I had first agreed on. So I call her and talk to her about them. I am paying for video and photo for 8 hours she had video arriving at my house 3:30 and photo at 4:30 (Wedding at 5:30 mind you) and both leaving at 11:30 pm.

I called her and told her that the package I am paying for states 8 hours for photo and I want him there for 8 hours. She has the nerve to say to me "it's not like you're going to use him the whole 8 hours though" WHAT?!?!?! I told her if the contract is not changed then her company will see me in court because I want what I'm paying for!!!

Well, mention the C word and everything is well and dandy. So then I notice that my Videograper is no longer on my contract. I call her again. She says "well he left this company so we put this person in his place, and we notified you via email about this change." I said " No you didn't, I have every email you have ever sent me in a folder right in front of me" She goes through her computer and says " oh, we should have sent one out, but I don't see that we did"

YA THINK!!!! So now I have this videographer shooting MY wedding and don't know the extent of his experience!!! What should I do! I tried calling her about this and had to leave a message and she won't call me back!! I'm nervous, I'm paying alot of money, and these are my memories and I don't want them messed up!!

I think I may be over reacting, but for her to tell me things like "you won't even use him for the whole 8 hours" and second guess me abut the email, really makes me think that this company is trying to screw me!!

Your not overreacting my dear!!! Your darn right it's a TON of money and you don't want it being all blown away on somebody you know nothing about! I can't habndle these rude people. The amount of money that is spent ona wedding and towards these companies and they ahve the odacity to give attitude!
I'd just keep calling her and calling and calling. When in dount show up there with your cencerns, the worst case is that she'll hide under her desk lol.
Don't let them get away with this. Your the one paying and your the one who makes these decisions!
Best of luck sweety!!!

I would want to meet the new videographer if it were me and see some of his work. And as you said if you are paying for the full 8 hours I would want them there for the full 8 hours. Whether you use them or not you never know what might happen and it would be what you paid for and needed. I believe (if me) I would go there in person to discuss this with them before ever signing anything. Get everything in writing as well. Don't sign anything before you know it is what you want.

You are not overreacting. You have a right to be upset. Ellen has similar probs w the video (I think) and it was a fiasco for her. She can prob give you some good advice. I wish I had some for ya babe!! Good luck!!

So sorry this is happening and your wedding is so close. I would continue to contact her. Sounds like she is ignoring you. You should request to see the new video guy and his experience. You are not overreacting, If all does not turn out in your favor I would bring them to court. Best of luck to u

That line about not using your photog for 8 hours is BS! We had ours for 12 hours and they took pics the whole time, except during dinner, when I had to tell them to go ahead and take a break! They were running around sweating taking a ton of pics all day long and we really have wonderful ones to show for it! They got pics of every single guest and us and all the big events, I swear they were everywhere all at once. You should definitely demand what you paid for.

Anyway, about the videographer go meet with new one and look at their stuff, you may like them. If you don't ask who else they may have available and interview them. If you still don't like any of them, you could cancel that part of the contract and find an independent videographer yourself. Since they changed the terms of the contract you should be able to get out of it. Best wishes.

OMG you at the very least will use the photographer for 8 hours. Ours will be with us starting at around noon and our wedding isn't even until 5, add that to the ceremony and everything after...
They might get a break (if you're nice lol) but even so 8 hrs at the very least!

And no, you are so not overreacting. They are changing things without your consent (hello contract?) which even more so means you really need to be in their face. I like the idea of showing up in person. You can "avoid" phone calls and "misplace" emails but you can't avoid someone standing in front of you.
I would try to set up a meeting also with the new videographer just so you can see what they're about.

Good luck hun!

Hey Amanda, any updates on the photo/video situtation?

I would go down to the office, and demand to meet or at least see some of the videographer's work. It is too much money to just throw away on someone who is not experienced enough.
If you cannot get down there, I would just keep calling, once, twice, however many times it takes for her to call you back.
I hope everything works out...don't stress out!
That is the key to staying healthy, and young!!
