never tried those ....
I posted this somewhere before but here it is again. This recipe won me a Jenair oven and $500 of beef from a fancy dancy beef restaurant one year and a kitchenaid blender another year.
I posted the recipe to recipezaar.com; my favourite food website (http://www.recipezaar.com/67491) & I have five 5 star reviews so far :)
"Prize Winning Marinade for Beef" Recipe #67491
posted Jul 25, 2003
3¼ hours 15 min prep
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup soy sauce
4-5 cloves garlic, crushed
40 whole peppercorns, crushed
1 sirloin tip roast or blade roast or round roast or prime rib roast or london broil beef
1 pint sour cream
Using a food processor- Crush peppercorns until fine.
Add garlic to processor and crush.
Add soy sauce, worchestershire sauce and lemon juice and blend.
Pour mixture into giant zip lock freezer bag and add the meat to be marinated (even the cheapest cuts of beef will taste like prime rib!).
Seal bag.
Refrigerate for 48 hours (turn bag every time you open the fridge door).
Reserve the marinade for later use.
Barbeque the meat as you would normally however, I prefer to cook the meat very VERY slowly using an indirect cooking method- only ONE side of the barbeque is lit and turned down to low.
The meat is placed on the one side of the barbeque which is off, over a pan of water, which sits on the barbeque rocks.
Note: total barbeque time depends on the size of beef roast.
Relax while your dinner cooks.
Put marinade on the stove and bring to a boil.
Add just enough marinade to some sour cream, to make a sauce to drizzle over the cooked meat.
Sit back and enjoy the compliments.

What do they taste like? Any type of seafood? Crab? Lobster?
How do you eat them? they look rather small ...

Step 1
Gently twist the head apart from the tail and set the head aside.
Step 2
Peel away 2 to 3 segments of shell from the tail to expose more meat.
Step 3
Pinch the bottom end of the tail while carefully pulling the meat out of the shell.
Step 4
For an extra mouthful of flavor, gently suck the seasoned juices out of the head, or insert a finger into the cavity and scoop out the golden “fat”.

It's hard to describe the taste. They are like shrimp, but the texture is different. They are defiantely way more spicey than shrimp. They also don't taste as fishy as shrimp.

My favorite is Poppyseed Chicken. My mom taught me how to make it, it is AWESOME!!!!
I do not have any pictures, but I will try to post the recipe up here sometime.
You know what?? we should all start a recipe book with recipes from everyone. or have it set up to where someone cooks someone's recipe a different night of the week. (Like a chain recipe thing)
Sorry, I did not explain it very well, do you guys know what I mean???

But now that I think about it...I could prolly do it...My aunt's ex boyfriend used to castrate the steers instead of banding them (banding is so much better for all involved) and we breaded, fried and ate that!

lol ditto here. Reminds me of my Mom ... she eats that green & red **** that is in the body of a lobster. No thank you!
I have seen crawfish here but if you saw the creek that they came out of or the size of them, you wouldn't eat them.
How about some cod tongue and cheek anyone?

yuck.... there is somthing wrong imo with eating the eggs of another animal/fish/creature.... When i read your post it reminded me of Iron Chef when they scrape out all the guts of the lobster or whatever bizzar critter they are serving up.
I have a love hate relationship with Iron Chef.... it's fun to watch cooking like its a sport. But gross cause..... yeah. I think i have a weak stomic for food and meat prep.

No, you don't bite the heads off. You pull it off. The shell is not for eating. The ones we eat do not come from ditches or creeks. They are farmed.

Oh Kacie I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend...the only place I have seen them is in creeks...I assumed the ones that you posted were way to large and healthy looking to be from a creek! I think they sound yummy...I was just funning! I know better than to eat the shell:winktongue: !

That reminds me of when I was a kid, my folks fixed shrimp. We were all sitting down eating when they asked me what the heck was crunching. Yeah, that was me eating the shell and all! LOL
I love most of the "weird" foods you all are talking about. You name it, I have tried it for the most part.

Oh goodness Ellen I didn't take any offense to your post at all!!!! :) I know the idea of eating them gets to people! It is just really really common around here. We live about an hour drive from the Louisiana border so we lots and lots of things that make people cringe. We eat gator, crawfish, frog legs, and lots of other seafood/cajun food. Some people around where I live are actually more like the Louisiana culture than the Texan culture. We also have a lot of Mexican influence, so we eat really weird things. Some people eat cow head. I haven't gone there, but not to say that I wouldn't try it.
